We've visited this establishment many times. This trip included a party of 8. The food was good -- nice and filling. The service was thorough, pleasant and professional. There was live music and television screens around the restaurant.

Casa Nova Grill (Brazilian Rodizio) is a wonderful place to go with family. We were well taken care of and the staff was friendly and professional. Our food was delicious. I had the paella and it was full of seafood 😋 It’s a bit far from the train station if you’re walking but definitely a place to experience delicious Brazilian cuisine!

Excellent place for a casual dinner, meeting date. If you want to make it extra special, Saturday nights live music is magical.

Google
Great food, service, and atmosphere, parking is available in front of parking lots as tip based. Fraldinha/ skirt steak 45$ a plate. Milk flan is good and can feed 2 people.

Tried Brazilian Rodizio for the first time and had a mixed experience. The salad bar offered a variety of options but was disappointed by the dried and hard mini pizza and the less-than-fresh vegetables. During happy hour, the $3.99 beer price was a highlight. The rodizio's meat-serving performance was interesting and enjoyable. However, most of the rodizio meats were salty and tasted similar, which made their mouth tired of the same flavors. Despite this, overall experience was cool and memorable.

Google
Great food! Very comfortable and cozy intimate setting. Food comes out very fast and fresh for Rodizio and the salad bar was very good it’s like you can get an entire entree in the salad bar alone. Me and my wife had a great time only negative is the parking but I soon figured out you can park at the bank across the street.

The food is amazing, prices excellent. Hands down a great brazilian restaurant if you guys are near by.

Google
Good place for dinner! The restaurant offers a set menu for $46 (you can eat as much as you like) or order separately! we chose the second option! The portions are large and delicious! Music is playing, it's a pleasure to be in this restaurant!

Yelp

Yelp
I don't know how to describe my experience since I don't consider it bad or good. Food was good, just they forgot to give us something was on the menu. And the restaurant wasn't busy, very clean the restaurant. But was something else missing like that Brazilian vibe.

Yelp
The food was ok. Nothing to really write home about. I had garlic shrimp that arrived to my table cold and tasted like they were microwaved the service was ok . Nothing special most of the waitstaff found it hard to understand us and vice versa. The restaurant is in a really busy area with MANY of the same type of restaurants Parking is a bit tough if there are no spots in the lot across the street.

Yelp
This restaurant used to be good we've been there throughout the years, and most of the time we got the rodizio for two. Yesterday 11/1/24 Friday was the worst meat quality, service and hot food/salad bar. They served us with well done meat even we ask for a medium, I have to ask our server to refill the fried banana three times takes them 30minutes. The server is not attentive to our table, i guess because automatic gratuity is included in our bill, they don't care about the service anymore. At that time we were there the restaurant is empty on a Friday night , guess it explain the food quality is declining a lot. Not going to come back. A waste of money.

Yelp
Ended up in Jersey & wanted to take my uncle out for dinner nearby the port he was docked at! Our usual seafood place closed early so I yelp'd a bunch of rodizio places nearby & decided to try this one out! I called & made a reservation ahead of time just in case! Street parking isn't too hard to find! We came a bit early & the restaurant was all to ourselves wooo! The ambiance is decorated old school -- place is spacious & the service itself was good! The meats kept coming out (I wish it was a bit slower so you can thoroughly enjoy your meal but I appreciated the different options we had to choose from), the sides came on a tower (this is new but I loved it so you don't have to get up continuously to go to a salad buffet) & the chips to start with were delish! It was still happy hour (surprised Caipirinha's weren't on the happy hour menu) but we decided to get a bottle of wine that was recommended instead! The wine was dry .. just what we wanted! We ended the meal off with some coffee & were all happily in food coma! (Btw they have grilled pineapple - they didn't bring it out until I asked but that had to be my fav part!!!) Will definitely be back again - want to try out the sangria & next time I know to come hungry heeheee

Yelp
We always love coming here. Tonight is no exception. Tonight they had live music. The norm is Hubby gets the Rodizio and I always try something new. Each time is an amazing time. Food is delicious and service is great.

Yelp
Found parking across the street in the Bank parking lot. Came here with high expectations but I was disappointed. We were sited right away and ordered Sangria, which was really good. We ordered an appetizer of toscino with fried yucca and our entrees were the rodizio and a feijoada. The food and Sangria are really the only reason I gave them a two star. Our waitress was busy only attending to one particular table so that means all her other tables suffered. Never checked on us , if she would have she would know I never received my dinner. Finally when she got away from the other table my husband was able to get her attention to let her know i never received my food. Even though she apologized my husband that got rodizio might of been on his 5 round of meat, by the way the gentleman passing out the meat was very attentive. At this point why would I want my dinner, almost an hour after my husband got his food!!!! When we got the bill we were furious to see that she had the audacity to charge us for 2 rodizio's !! Be warned the 20% tip is automatically added on as well our total for 2 people and really one dinner was $185!!!!! I started to try to get her attention again to complain about the bill but I was not going to get myself even more upset. Be warned if you want good service don't come here. Pretty sad because the food was pretty good.

Yelp
I visited Casa Nova this past Friday evening (Saint Patrick's day) and had a pleasant experience. I made the reservation through the website, received confirmation via text and had no issues getting a table. They had happy hour specials until midnight which was great. Many appetizers for 7.99 and draft beer for 3.99 including blue moon and Stella. I guess they normally offer happy hours on Thursdays but on Fridays they only offer it on special occasions. Food was good, staff was friendly, and Betho Alencar playing live music was great. There's a huge parking lot across the street for many businesses including banks and it is on to park there if you're visiting casa nova.

Yelp
Food was excellent. Very flavorful. The salad was to die for. My brother said he steak was excellent. The black beans were done with care. The Bar B Q chicken was also done with care. The atmosphere was very cozy. The tables are spaced out just right. Our Waiter did not seem like he was that interested. Whenever I wanted something I had to get his attention. That was the only flaw the service. Otherwise, a must go to place you will not be disappointed..

Yelp
As of 04/2022 -Service: have been here 3 times and it seems Service varies in speed depending on season and where you sit. Rodizio service can be slower outside. -Food: -rodizio sides: fried hand cut potto chips (crispy and food), green salad (light, fresh), potato or chicken salad (too much mayonnaise), rice and black beans (very good), fried yucca and fried banana (good). -rodizio: very good. $42 on weekends (starting Friday evening). Although it can be a bit salty, we love the lamb. I like that they bring by well-done pieces of the different meats when asked. -grilled pineapple: love the pineapple after the rodizio. Grilling the pineapple brings out/heightens it's natural sweetness. Excellent! Overall, very good. Will continue to patronize.

Yelp
Found this place based on reviews as closeness to the NJPAC. Came after 9 pm to plenty of open tables. They sat us right away, he ordered the steak and I the spaghetti. When the waiter arrived with our food, he placed my pasta down but saw something on the steak and immediately took it back. We didn't get to see the plate, he Apologized and said there was a hair on the food and he sent for another plate to be made. Well, as soon as he walked the way another waitress brought the same plate back. We were puzzled as there was no way they could have made it so fast. We called the waiter that told us they were making another plate back and told him what had happened. He took the plate back with him and said he will have the kitchen make a new one. 10 min later he brought the same food back, it was just reheated. The eggs were crispy and steak was darker. This left a bad taste in my partners pallet as he felt conned to top it off we felt the waiters staring at our table the whole time! Just felt weird. He didn't even finish his whole steak we finished our sangria and asked for the check. It was just the two of us and they automatically included themselves a 20% gratuity on the bill! I'm sorry, but I base my tips on service and overall dining experience and to me, it didn't call for that amount. But we didn't fight it. We paid and left. Needless to say we won't be coming back.

Yelp
We had to make an unexpected trip to Newark, and a friend invited us to lunch at Casa Nova. Honestly, everything was pretty perfect regarding out lunch - the food, the ambiance, and the service. We visited on a weekday for lunch, and the restaurant was pretty empty, so we had a very personal experience. I cannot recall everything that was served with our multiple rounds of meat, but I remember really enjoying the ribs.

Ugina B.

Yelp
Well what a weird experience I had there. There was no smile no greeting no explanation of the menu whatsoever. Even after I said it was my first time and I even asked for recommendations they completely ignored me. I also asked how the all you can eat steak worked and they told me "order it and you will see". The food was okay, some of the meats were very salty. Maybe there was a language barrier and NO ONE in the restaurant spoke English. Overall it was extremely underwhelming and a waste of money. If I was given better service I would have left a little happier. I regret going.

Yelp
Hidden gem deep in the Ironbound. Not nearly as loud as the bigger places, with a pleasant staff and great rodizio. The meat was perfectly cooked and not overly salty, like some other places. Plus the happy hour drinks special was a deal! Will definitely be back.

Yelp
AVOID THIS RESTAURANT. They use deceptive wording on the payment receipt you sign in order to get you to double your gratuity. It's like they're hoping you're too drunk to notice so they can get away with it. The receipt gives you a "suggested gratuity" but in reality it's a not a suggestion, it's a mandatory forced gratuity. You end up writing down their suggested gratuity and in effect doubling their tip. This practice is illegal in many parts of the country, as New Yorkers no doubt know. They are taking advantage of any trust the customer has in the establishment. After speaking to the owners multiple times to resolve this, they promised they would issue a refund but that ended up never happening. Restaurants that engage in these practices are no different than someone trying to slip a $20 out of your pocket when you're distracted. No upscale or classy restaurants engage in this practice, it's sneaky and shady. Most places will tell you if there is auto gratuity like if you're in a large party but this place does not tell you about auto gratuity even if you're just a party of 2. Besides this dishonest practice, this is also the worst All You Can Eat Brazilian Rodizio I've ever been to. THEY decide when you're done eating. We had the service indicator at our table visibly set to green so they could continue serving meats but they ignored it, and we had to wave to get them to come over after 20 minutes of no service to tell them we were not done. If for some reason you decide you want to try this place out, make sure you avoid the starters they put on your table like rice, beans, salad which are just designed to fill you up and limit the amount of meats you consume. There are much better All You Can Eat Rodizios in this area you can go to, this isn't your only option.

Abigail B.

Yelp
I would not recommend this restaurant as it was highly disappointing, and I felt that way upon entering when my utensils were dirty, and their food was no better. I would not recommend the food from the main menu; if I had to go again, I would only get the Rodizio, as the meat I ordered was dehydrated and tough to chew (Brazilian Steak). I was very upset with the food and wished it was better.

Yelp
Just a heads up, folks. Apparently as of this week they're raising their prices from $29.99 to $36. We ate here on a Wednesday night and they tried charging us $72 for two even though the menus clearly state $29.99 This is crazy! And very unprofessional to charge a different price than printed in the menu! I didn't bother arguing about the price of a small strawberry sangria... $16 to $17. This place is mediocre... as I mentioned in a previous review, some knock out stars and some bleh ones. Some items are cooked well while others overcooked and dry. Due to the price increase, I'm not likely to come back.

Yelp
Casa Nova is a great place if you're looking for a good time with family and friends, Their food and drinks are great, there is Live music (Always amazing singers); Staff is always on point and willing to learn and provide great customer service, (which I find extremely important to run a successful business.) I do believe the restaurant would do even better with more fish, vegetarian options and one day new interior design. Prices are also pretty reasonable!

Yelp
Let me start by saying the staff was amazing and attentive. The home made chips were delicious and not salty. However that's were it ended. The amount of salt in this food could bring on congestive heart failure. I and four others ordered the Rodizio. This should have been an eating extravaganza but instead we shared one plate of rice, one bowl of beans and one tower plate set consisting of half plate of salad, fries and yucca chunks. Albeit, they will refill if requested. If your not into passing plates best order something else. The endless meats of the Rodizio were so over salted that one bite and done and no interest in having anymore. I actually left hungry since I could not eat most of what was offered due to the overwhelming salt content. Drinks were expensive and watered down for the price paid. Stick with wine or beer. On the evening I visited they had a guitar player which was good but having a table of six people the music was loud enough where one end of the table could not hear any part of the conversation. Did I mention the staff was amazing....

Yelp
Visited this restaurant for Mother's Day. Must say I am disappointed. The waitresses don't really speak English or Spanish mostly only Portuguese so it's hard to communicate. It took asking 2-3 people for things such as a drink we were waiting on, napkins, appetizers, etc. The staff was friendly but it is really annoying having to ask multiple times for things. By the time our entree's came they were cold and flavorless. I will not return. I recommend brasilia in Newark instead for rodizio. They never disappoint.

Leo77PT G.

Yelp
Nice and pleasant place to eat, drink and listen to live music. Thank you Filipe and Gabriel for the service.

Yelp
Uma delicia a picahna! E o servicio otimo! O Fabio e o Jorge que nos ajudaron com a nossa ordem sao os melhores. Voltarei com certeza. O melhor restaurante Brasileiro na ferry street!

Yelp
Had dinner here on Sunday and I honestly felt like my experience here was just ok. The food was great but the service was ehhh....they tried to charge me for one extra drink that I didn't order and they automatically charge you gratuity and ask for "Additional Tip" on the receipt which I didn't get...

Yelp
Jeremy, (my gourmet partner in crime and restaurant finds,) made the decision to no longer patronize another rodizio style restaurant in Hackettstown; were in search of a new Brazilian barbecue. After reading several negative reviews that suggested Newark's marvelously diverse Ironbound district, I did a little Yelp search and landed on this gem, Casa Nova Grill. I braved the bane of my existence, Route 78 and worked my way through the myriad of the one-way streets until I got to Ferry street and I immediately saw it. Found parking easily at the bank, and walked in. One and a half hours by car for me, but it was worth it. Atmosphere was cheerful with lovely exposed brick. Tables were very well spaced for privacy, and well set. Joseph warmly greeted us, and sat us by the window overlooking the street that I requested. After taking our drink order he was together enough to lower the speaker that was by our table that was playing some nice lively Brazilian songs. We were served home made potato chips, and a 3-tier plate filled with some of the best potato salad, I've had in years, though the fried bananas is a favorite. We came there for the meat, and were pleasantly surprised to see the parade of pork, chicken, and beef arrive hot and yummy. The chicken leg was so moist and flavorful... the Picanha sirloin steak was juicy and seasoned perfectly; I asked for rare and Jeremy medium rare, and were obliged. Joseph is a charming host , and we had an opportunity to chat with him and learned that the owner also owns a restaurant not that far from where we live, which was a very happy discovery. I highly recommend this restaurant not only for the quality of the food, but for the entire vibe of the restaurant itself. It was worth the drive.......

Yelp
We've been to this place many years ago and decided to go back. The atmosphere wasn't the same. The music wasn't the best selection. Seem really sad and calming. Unlike in the past was more lively. They had a live singer he was good but songs seemed really sad . Not for a bar atmosphere. The waiter was amazing. He was so attentive and helped us decide what to get. The Dessert he recommended was fantastic! Tiramisù. Everything he recommended was as he mentioned and in detail. They didn't have a big drink selection. The bartenders seemed inexperienced. The waiter suggested caipirinha and it was a good choice but he did warn us it's a very strong drink to only have 1 to avoid a hangover. He was right it was very strong. Our second drink we decided to go with captain and coke. it was terrible. Seems the bartender squeezed a lemon in the drink and totally removed the spiced rum flavor and made the drink taste bitter. I couldn't drink it. As a meal we decided to go light with appetizers. We had picanha mixta with different meats and sausage. The sausage was very good with lots of flavor. The picanha was raw and some parts were burnt. Was ok. I expected a more lively atmosphere and better drinks. I wouldn't go back.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, awesome service and decent food. We had the clams, boneless wings, and cheesy bread. The clams were good, but for some reason it tasted like tap water- we only ate half. The boneless wings were so delicious and very crispy! We had cheesy bread which we thought it was actual bread based off Yelp reviews, but it ended up being similar to mozzarella sticks/cheesy curds. We sat outside and it's a total different environment than inside. Everyone was sitting inside but it was too cold for us. Overall it was a good experience !

Yelp
Saturday night, this place was packed and rightfully so. Waitstaff so pleasant. Band came on. Such a lively atmosphere. Food...Omg so good. The potato chips were nice and hot, crisp. The tower of potato salad, salad, yucca fries, fries and bananas. Rice and black beans. 15 scrumptious meats and cinnamon dusted grilled pineapple just keep coming out til you flip that red hard stop card over. Such an enjoyable meal. No one is rushing you. The line of people just kept coming and it was worth it! Definitely a must have and MUST RETURN! Excellent!

Yelp
Went here for dinner with friends. Made reservations since there was a lot of us. We were greeted and seated right away. They hostess was friendly and helpful. Once we were all there, we ordered some sangria and the rodizios. Their buffet isn't large but has a good selection. The meats took a while to come but once they did, they came quick. As in most rodizio spots, chicken and sausage comes out first. Overall the food was ok but the service was excellent. Our waiter was accommodating and patient with us. There was a live band and crowded bar area. Good atmosphere. Casa Nova gets a recommendation.
google avatar

Jeff R.

Yelp
Service was quick, and friendly. Drinks were well constructed and the appetizers we ordered were very good. The live music on Sunday evening was a nice touch. We had a group of 6 and we had a great time. All the other food I saw come out of the kitchen looked very good.

Yelp
I decided to have a friends bday party here. We were a huge party so the staff did well considering the many different orders, drinks, etc.... I didn't think the waiter Rodrigo was on top of us and checked on us as he should. I found myself trying to hail him down a few times. The Rodizio took a while to come around. Then came around a lot, then stopped again. It wasn't consistent. The sangria in this place is super strong and will give you a major headache the next day. Im not sure what kind of cheap liquor but Ive never had a massive headache from Sangria the way I did at Casa Nova, everrrrrrrr. Im not kidding. My friend puked his brains out and wasn't even wasted. For those that ordered the Rodizio we were able to enjoy a nice variety at the salad bar. The options for both hot and cold food were great! The music was a bit too loud for my liking. This place gets really packed and turns into a lounge after 10pm. Once we received the check we noticed we were overcharged for a Rodizio and when we mentioned it the waiter quickly fixed it. The waiter Rodrigo was nice, lots of smiles but not as attentive. FYI the meat was tasty and tender. Will I go back? Probably but not with a big party or on a Saturday.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent service and food is delicious! We lucked out and went on a Friday night and enjoyed live music. I highly recommend they were very accommodating to my kids as well.
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
I went here with a friend and we are ordering with a older gentleman at the bar and once the food comes he keeps asking us to try other foods but he's making it seem like it just to try. Next thing you know we get the bill and it everything we tried is on the menu. Shame on us for not knowing this guy was using the verbiage of a someone who is trying to get Over on you . After a few days I look at the pending charge for 180 and when it clears the amount changed to 210.00 someone added their own tip extra . This place is a scam . Avoid at all cost !!! I will be calling the news and posting on a nj social media about this.

Yelp
Went with a big party of people. 3 people had hair in their food, most people's food was inedible. Awful service. Bad food. Sangria was good at least. But don't recommend

Arjan M.

Yelp
Great ambiance, live music, great food, fast and kind service, and the price is right

Gerald T.

Yelp
Flew into Newark late and this place was less than 15 minutes away. Great atmosphere and vibe. Food was good and service even better. Would definitely visit next time I'm here. Want to try the all u can eat!
google avatar

Rosa R.

Yelp
Been here several times and it's your typical Brazilian rodizio spot. I've been here in the weekends when they're very busy and also during the week when we were the only ones at a table (everyone else was at the bar) and the service was always the same, good and prompt. The selection of meat is great and their buffet of sides is also hot and good. The sangria is amazing! Definitely check the place out if you're in the area.
google avatar

JZee M.

Yelp
This is the first rodízio I go to where they don't serve picanha, the most traditional Brazilian bbq meat. They also stopped serving us any meat for about 20 minutes and came asking if we wanted the check after only serving us 4-5 times (we still had our cards with the green side up) and all they served was sausage, chicken and ribs. They also did away with the salad bar they used to have. For a restaurant in the center of a Brazilian community they are not serving to standards. There are other rodízios around that are much better, located not too far from them.

Yelp
Went there Saturday with a very good friend!! We had Bacala ! It was delicious!! The portions are huge. We had to dine outside due to CoVid19 but it was a beautiful day and the food was Soooo GOOD :) The food speaks for itself!!

Yelp
Came here during the Portugal Day Festival and was expecting spotty service and cold food, but man was I pleasantly surprised! The Staff: Super friendly, super nice and super attentive! The Food: Super DELICIOUS! I got the Rodizio + Buffet and it was all very yummy and filling. My favorite meats were the chicken, the picanha, bottom sirloin and the short rib. YUM. The Atmosphere: Party Mode was on! Music everywhere, people dancing, but it wasn't uncomfortably loud. An excellent experience!

Felipe M.

Yelp
What a wonderful spot and great service. I had the coconut shrimp and it was amazing'! Joseph and the rest of the staff were so kind. I highly recommend Casa Nova Grill.
google avatar

Mike D.

Yelp
This place was absolutely awful. I ordered food while my friends going the rodezeo. My food never came out and the rodezio goes for maybe one round and then stops. Getting in touch to order drinks was impossible we only got two rounds of drinks in the three hours we were trapped there. When you order drinks it takes 20+ minutes to get them and you need to remind them multiple times to get them to deliver it to the table. You also don't get water while your sitting so your going to be hungry, thirsty, and stressed out by the time dinner is over. I felt like i was in purgatory.

Nicholas L.

Yelp
Great food/drinks good service, nice vibes

Yelp
the word I have for this restaurant is everything perfect! good food, good service, good place, the taste really reminds of brazil! I felt like eating on a Brazilian beach.. i really recommend it!!!!!!

Yelp
I'm giving this review based solely on the late night bar and live band. My husband and I enjoyed the vibe and danced a lot. He is Brazilian so he recognized many songs the band and DJ played. We tried the the pitcher of sangria. We got about 6-7 cups out of it which I think is great for the price! We'd definitely come back again

Yelp
A friend was in town and rodizio seemed to be the way to go. None of us have tried this spot before so we decided to give it a shot. We had a party of 8 and they were able to accommodate our last minute reservation. Our server was very attentive and quick to meet our initial needs of sangria and bread filled with cheese (yum!). We ordered a strawberry sangria and passionfruit sangria. We all went with the rodizio bc hello, look where we were. It's a $30 rodizio dinner with the buffet. For a small place, the buffet was decent but we knew we didn't want to eat fillers before the meat lol. Overall, the chicken, pork, and prime rib was ok. I wasn't too thrilled with how fatty some cuts were and I guess that's what made it more chewy. Surprisingly the chicken and pork pieces were super juicy. The rest of the meat was just ok. The reason for 3 stars is some of the stuff I picked off the hot buffet table wasn't really hot BUT more like lukewarm which was eh. Dessert was good (tiramisu and tres leches).

Carmelita E.

Yelp
We came here to celebrate a belated Father's Day with my dad. We were a party of 10. 9 of us had the rodizio, my mom had the paella. We also ordered 2 pitchers of red sangria. Sangria was good, rodizio was below average as we mostly got pork and poultry and not a good selection of beef. I guess this is what a $36 rodizio ($6 up charge on weekends) will get you? Service was not good, we waited over an hr to get served the rodizio. It seemed that they only come to your table to serve the meats after you get the 3-tier server containing the rice, fries, etc. they asked if we wanted black or pinto beans, and we ordered the black beans, which never came. Overall, this is a dinner experience I would not like to repeat. I will not be going back to this restaurant.

Ready 3.

Yelp
The rodizio is still great, they haven't lost there tasting. What I like also about this place is that you can pick up the BBQ grill meats to eat at home! I recommend

Yelp
We came here on a Friday night. It was really nice, they had some live music which we enjoyed. The Rodizio was great, the meat was good and plentiful. The waiters were really attentive and friendly. Loved the place, going there again soon!

Yelp
I go here fairly regularly ( about once every 3 months with some new woman friend ) . The food is great , the waiting staff is Portugese and friendly ( English is not their first language ) . The place is decorated with an old world Portugese decor , they have a small stage with live music where you come in at night . The place fills up regularly so come early . The prices are average and the portions are satisfying.
