I am skeptical about Mexican restaurants because most places have the same menus or very similar menus, and the food is not that good or not good at all.
Very often, customer service is very bad. Unhappy servers, perhaps working in the wrong place.
Well, this restaurant was very good. The food was on point and delicious. I am a bit disappointed because the portion was kind of small.
Very small slice of cesina and a very small slice of tasajo, perhaps a couple of ounces each.
My plate came with rice and beans. I asked for no beans and all rice. Even when I ordered only rice, I barely got two small portions of rice. Not even a cup of rice. Rice is not expensive, so I don't know why they serve such a micro portion.
I asked for a glass of water from the very beginning. The waitress brought some chips, but no water. I didn't get water until dinner was served.
Cafe de la olla was very, very good. Great live music. I really felt like I was in an Oaxacan restaurant in Mexico.
Overall, I like the restaurant, except for the small portion and the lack of customer service.
Food, coffee, and good live music were the major highlights.
I recommend this restaurant to people who want to enjoy a real taste of Oaxacan food.
