11 Essential Colombian Foods to Eat While in Colombia - AFAR

"A small town about 30 miles south of Cartagena—historically celebrated as the first free African village in the Americas—where street vendors known as Palenqueras sell enyucados: spongy, buttery cassava cakes made with shredded cassava, coconut milk, grated anise, and queso blanco. The dessert is a beloved coastal treat and a cultural ode to the town's resilience and heritage." - Cat Sposato

Absolutely awful — don’t waste your time or money! What a disappointing experience. They weren’t serving alcohol the day I went, so I can’t speak to their drinks menu — but if it’s anything like what I got, you’re not missing much. I ordered a coconut lemonade and asked the waitress for the price. She told me 16,000 COP, but when the bill came, she charged 19,500 COP and then gave me the wrong change on top of that. As for the drink itself — a total joke. It was nothing but ice water with a hint of lemon and zero coconut flavor. I’ve had tap water with more taste. The whole place feels like a scan! Save yourself the frustration and go literally anywhere else. This place is a rip-off and not worth your time, your money, or your patience!

I came here because i wanted Cream, ended up staying all night. Alexandro was our server, Johana our host. Drinks were very good. Music, vibes were awesome. We felt very safe in here, instead of going to those places outside on the street with lots of vendors.

Avoid this place as much as you can. They see gringos as ATMs. Needed to asked twice to provide a correct consumption ticket. They pretended to collect cash stating POS was not available, while I saw spanish speaking people paying with cards at the very moment I was asking for a POS. Furthermore, I realized the place is packed with "strange" people, approaching clients. Bad vibes. Not coming back. Saturday morning manager, a rude one. Zero polite when I letted him know about all of this, next day. While we are not a walking ATM, he is not ready to deal with clients.

Casa Palenque is an absolute gem! The yucca stuffed with meat was absolutely delicious — full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is welcoming, clean, and vibrant, making it a joy to dine here. The staff are friendly and attentive, adding to the overall wonderful experience. I can’t wait to come back!

Meat of impressive looking pondarosa burger tasteless as well as the bacon. Wife ordered yuka meat filled balls...beef was rancid. Did not stay at hotel. Just walked into the restaurant. Don't recommend this place.

Some of the most expensive drinks in the area. Our order was made wrong and not corrected so we ended up out of pocket and the manager told us that's business there is nothing he can do about it but we can pay again to have the correct drink made. We declined and left after he apologized and said he can't correct the mistake with new drinks but he can try and make the current drinks taste better.
