We were booked into Casa Republica in Barranco by our agent. The hotel is stylish and we mostly enjoyed staying here. There are two buts, however. |First of all, the breakfast selection was not very exciting. No cereals, limited hot dishes apart from eggs, not much fruit.|Secondly, I left one pair of trousers at reception for clearing. They told me they did not know how much it would cost, but that they would be back by 9 pm that night. They weren't. The next day when I collected they told me that it was 60 soles, totally exorbitant. I queried this on check out but they wouldn't make any concession, saying that the laundry probably had to wash them separately incurring higher energy costs, had to pay taxes, etc etc. So if they knew how their laundry operated, they probably had a shrewd Idea what they'd be charging me but had not shared the information. It felt like a complete rip-off. It spoiled the experience for us. My fault for entrusting washing to them but still but some good will on the part of the hotel in the name of customer service/relations would have gone a long way.

This is a converted old mansion in the Barranco area of Lima. The area is great; only a block to the ocean and a couple of blocks to many shops and restaurants. The street the hotel is on has a nice park-like median where locals stroll and walk their dogs. Although the building is of an historic character, it has been nicely painted and furnished so it appears spotless.||Beyond the hotel's lobby and through double doors is a grass courtyard that adjoins a small seating area where breakfast is served. There is gorgeous artwork by local artists hanging on every wall. On the rooftop, there is an inviting bar area where we enjoyed beautiful clouds at sunset.||The hotel's staff is well-trained and speaks English. The only thing that knocked down my rating from 5 to 4 stars was the location/situation of our room. The room appears to be the only one on the first floor (?) and is directly behind and to the right of the registration desk. The room itself is fine, and the adjoining bathroom is large. The room also opens outside onto a private patio with umbrella and outdoor furniture, which is a very nice feature. But since the room shares a wall with the lobby and is so near to the front desk, it can't help but be a bit noisy. We did inquire and were told that there were no other rooms available for the two nights we stayed.

Very charming boutique hotel at a very good location close to Barranco bars and restaurants. Very clean and comfortable rooms, good size. Would recommend to avoid room adjacent to reception as can be noisy. Very helpful and friendly staff. |Breakfast was pretty average in our opinion.

Old world boutique hotel in a beautiful clean and quiet neighbourhood. We stayed 2 nights here in readiness for an Intrepid tour of Peru and a transfer to another hotel in Miraflores. Barranco was a much better place to stay. The hotel is clean and has an old world charm and atmosphere. The rooms are large and have balconies too. The hotel is central to Barranco and you can also walk safely to Miraflores as well and there is a cliff top walk you can do to see the sunset. Barranco is a safe and quirky neighbourhood filled with arts and local crafts to keep you busy. The staff at the hotel are wonderfully helpful in all respects. The only down point was the cost of a glass of wine - cheaper to buy an entire bottle. But, on reflection we found this everywhere in Peru - just ask for the price up front so it is not a shock at the end. We also ate here for here - great food. Totally recommend as a place to stay.

Casa Republica was a highlight of our trip. It was our home away from home. The rooms were lovely, the breakfast was amazing- so many delicious choices! But above all, the service was incredible. The gracious staff helped us over and over. The young women, Darita, Stefani and Monica who supported us were so kind and thoughtful. Ramiro helped us plan a family dinner. The staff at the rooftop bar were generous and attentive. Overall, the hotel represented their country with grace. We were so lucky to stay there.

This hotel is beautiful and Barranco is definitely the place to stay in Lima - it has so much more character than Miraflores. I was very happy with everything - the friendly and welcoming staff, the tasty breakfast, the lovely rooftop terrace with live music, the beautiful room with period features etc. The only issue is the noise, really - we were right at the front of the hotel, literally next to the entrance, and other guests showed no consideration, even when coming back at 5am. It would be a shame to build a second set of doors into the period doorway of each room, but honestly, that feels like the only solution here. The road is a little noisy, but it’s 90% other guests, shrieking and having loud conversations at all hours.

Beautiful historic and new hotel rooms. Super quiet. The brunch was delicious and actually one of the best we had all throughout Peru. Great location. I'd totally stay here again!
