Lovely decoration and warm vibe inside the restaurant. The food was excellent. It’s too late that we visited the night before we left Cordoba. Otherwise, we would visit one more time. We had cold tomato soup, fried eggplant, oxtail stew, ibérico pluma and cheese cake. Love it!

We LOVED Casa Rubio so much that we could not wait to post this review partway into our anniversary trip through Spain. So far it has been our favorite restaurant in this beautiful country, and they have set a really high bar to beat! The waitstaff were highly attentive and professional. We were able to enjoy our meal without being rushed, yet the staff was always quickly available whenever we wanted to order more or had other requests - like for bread to accompany the spectacular cod dish! The top-notch food and service combined made this an incredible experience for us. We would not hesitate to return.

Great service, great food for very reasonable price. Nice atmosphere too. Salmorejo was good, bravas delicious, meatballs too.

It's a nice restaurant with many local dishes. Service was great and quick. We sat outside. The staff was very friendly and they gave tips about local dishes. We ordered creamy cold tomato tapas and russian salad as starter. And as the main dish, we had oxtail. Everything was delicious but not perfect. That's why I gave 4 stars.

We had very nice dinner at their beautiful roof top terrace. All foods we ordered were very tasty - braised Iberico pork was divine. A glass of wine recommended was very nice, too. Very reasonable price for good restaurant service.

Wonderful local dishes from Cordoba, special delicious wines from the area, and especially recommended the specialty from Cordoba, the cold tomato soup Salmorejo. A must. Very friendly service. The restaurant is not far away from the center at a city gate of Cordoba!

Best croquettes in a long time… if not ever (!) Beautiful Iberian pork main dish and oxtail, uncomplicated but executed perfectly. Great wine recommendation much below the budget we were willing to spend. We’d wish we could be sited on the terrace but that’s no option for the lunch time. Still, we were happy we got served without reservation and will be back anytime we got a chance to do so.

Average at best! Have to admit based on the reviews and being suggest to come here from the sister restaurant (casa pepe de la juderia) but I have to say we were disappointed. The waiting staff did not seem to care they were here and although not at full capacity seemed to be struggling. They got one of our drinks orders wrong and didn't apologise and the sangria is watered down with canned rather than fresh fruit. The bread accompanying the meal was so dry and tough it would be better to build a house with than eat. We decided to go with tapas but the croquetas were very soft and not much flavour in the filling, the fried cod was soggy and lemon mayo that came with it overpowered the whole thing (far too many lemons). Their fried aubergine just tated like sweet oil we couldn't even eat it. The best thing was their 'spicy potatoes' which is just patatas bravas so not sure why they decided to call it something else. Would suggest just go to the sister restaurant and leave this one be if you want a good meal.

Yelp
If you want a bowl of white almond paste that tastes like nothing at all, go here. If you want eggplant that is fried so much it tastes like funnel cake, go here. If you want to pay premium prices for a plate of oxtail that is mainly bone, go here. My husband's avocado salmon salad was just fine, but wow this place is overpriced.

Yelp
Love the quaint, rustic feel of this restaurant, and was fascinated by the small open area patio in the middle of the restaurant. Fast service (and bonus points for the really cute server). The food here was nothing out of the ordinary, minus the oxtail stew that my husband raved about and practically licked his bowl clean afterwards. I tried the salmorejo out of obligation for trying the signature dish of the country. It wasn't bad; it was the right thickness, and it tasted fine, it just wasn't for me. I also ordered a fried seafood dish. I can't remember the exact name of it, but when I had googled it, it said it was a shark, so I just had to try it. It's a pretty big dish, so quite filling. I would recommend splitting it with your table. Taste-wise, it tasted like any other deep fried dish, no wow factor there either. There is free wifi, but, for some reason, we couldn't connect to it, and the staff were all so busy that we felt bad bugging them about how to connect.

Yelp
Excellent late afternoon place to stop by. Wonderful patatas bravas! Immediately next to an entrance in the old wall.

Yelp
We had a decent meal here - but I would really rate it 3.5 stars. We, as boring Americans, arrived for an early dinner before the tourist rush, and enjoyed a quiet restaurant with a few other tables. We ordered some wines, which were priced nicely. For food, we ordered the jamon croquettes which were really nice, with 3 different sauces. Also, a potato dish which I thought sounded unique on the menu, however it was just their version of patatas bravas. However, the sauce was mustardy and had cumin in it, so it was unique enough. Also, the fried school shark which was very tender and tasty. And finally a dish of beef rolled with cheese & jamon, then breaded & fried (like chicken cordon bleu) - this ration was almost inedible. The beef and jamon was tough, the cheese melted out and took some of the redness of the jamon with it so it looked like bloody, runny cheese (unappetizing). And several of the bites had gristle or fat in them. We enjoyed the dinner but the service was a bit lacking - the server tended to patrons out of order, and we could see other tables that came in after us getting service/food/drinks first. Paid about 40 euro for the two of us.

Yelp
Had Al fresco lunch here. We had Deep Fried Cod/Bacalao, Eggplant, Octopus with Mashed Potato Salad and Oxtail Stew. The food was good, but we had better. The service was not that great. The server was too busy to answer our questions about the menu. Price was average. We spent 40 Euro for 3 people.

Yelp
The wife and I really enjoyed this restaurant.. food was fresh and delicious something that is hard to find since all restaurants are always reheating their food...it's a small family restaurant love it we've been there 3 times in one week!!!!!

Yelp
We reserved Casa Rubio for New Year's Eve this year for a group of ten friends. I corresponded by email the month before and they were responsive, professional and did everything to make arrangements for some dietary restrictions. We had a fabulous dinner and celebration there and will never forget this place. Spanish food can get a bit tiring after a week. The tapas don't vary much even from city to city. But Casa Rubio does a wider variety of food and has specials during the week that are delicious. Everything is very fresh, prepared with care and presented very nicely. We (my wife and I) actually went the day before our big diner to test it out and I could have eaten here every day of our trip in Spain. It is a beautiful and traditional interior, nicely laid out and beautifully decorated. The staff are fast, attentive, professional and very friendly. I would expect this restaurant to be successful for a very long time indeed and I recommend it to everyone. http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g187430-d1830125-r336564997-Casa_Rubio-Cordoba_Province_of_Cordoba_Andalucia.html#

Yelp
Casa Rubio was a friendly experience with local flavors artfully presented. Most of the dishes we tried were wonderful introductions to Andalucian food. We ordered two starters for the table: ham and potato croquettes plus fried potatoes. The server spoke some English and was very accommodating. The croquettes were accompanied with three mayonnaise based sauces that were tasty, if somewhat bland. The fried potatoes, a common tapa in Spain were acceptable, though quite bland and covered with one of the same sauces delivered with the croquettes. Our entrees were excellent: braised oxtail, seared tuna, lamb shank, and suckling pig. The oxtail was tender and relatively lean for the cut of meat. It contained a rich sauce everyone loved. The tuna was lightly seared with roasted vegetables. The lamb shank was also tender and lean, the meat falling off the bone. The pig was a little too salty, but tender and good portion size.
