Miami’s Best Bars to Celebrate Women’s History Month | Eater

"This Calle Ocho bar is a slightly grittier take on the Tipsy Flamingo cocktail lounge, where one side is a bar packed with Little Havana regulars, and the other is a small showroom where local stand-ups show up for off-the-cuff sets. There’s no telling who’ll hit the stage at the Dead Flamingo, but you’re guaranteed to be entertained with a DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS made by lead bartender Alexis Marie with Zacapa No. 23 Rum, tamarind, guava, and chili pepper oil." - Matthew Meltzer

Where to Celebrate Halloween in Miami, 2024 | Eater Miami

"The Dead Flamingo pops up at Casa Tiki with a slew of spooky events. From now through Halloween, sip on a special spirited Halloween cocktail menu. On Mondays, get ready to tax your brain (instead of eating it) at Halloween Trivia. On Tuesdays, scream out your favorite jams like Monster Mash and Thriller at Halloween Karaoke, and on Thursdays, cuddle with your “boo” on one of the oversized sofas to watch a scary movie with complimentary popcorn. On Monday, October 28, things ramp up with a double feature of Halloween trivia followed by Halloween karaoke. On Tuesday, October 29, ladies can get their favorite witches together for a “Hocus Pocus” screening. On Wednesday, October 30, your favorite Miami bar will be revived for the “Beaker - Back from the Dead” party featuring Beaker and Gray’s staff. October 31, Calle Ocho turns into “Nightmare on 8th Street”. I had an absolute blast at Casa Tiki on my first visit. The vibe was super fun and welcoming, and the energy of the place was just right. What really stood out was the bartender—super friendly, attentive, and seriously talented. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and it was one of the best I’ve had in a long time—perfectly balanced and full of flavor. If you're looking for a cool spot with great drinks and even better service, I highly recommend checking out this place.

Google
Fantastic happy hour prices! Nice atmosphere, with a pool table and karaoke on Tuesdays. The cocktails taste high-end without needing all the frills. You can tell the bartenders really enjoy their time behind the bar. Usually a lot events or specials going on. There's ITB pricing, but not sure which days.

Google
We were out and about looking for a place to have a drink. Went to Bar Nancy's down the street and didn't like the vibe and lookers as we walked in. When we found this place. Starting from the moment you walk into this bar we were greeted. The atmosphere, vibe, and staff was great! Don't forget to karaoke, I think on Tuesdays and Thursday night's. We had fun and enjoyed our few hours before closing. We will be coming back when ever we are in town again!

Dead Flamingo on Calle 8 did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was electric. The ambience is incredible fun, vibrant, and full of life. The drinks were absolutely on point, both creative and delicious. Huge shoutout to Chris, our server, who was beyond amazing attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect throughout the night. You can truly tell the owner takes pride in this place and stands behind guaranteeing a great time. Can’t wait to come back!

Google
We had such a great time at The Dead Flamingo! The atmosphere is fun, welcoming, and full of energy, perfect for a night out with friends. The owner, Will, went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and comfortable. He was incredibly gracious and kind throughout the entire night. Our server, Chris, was also fantastic, attentive, patient, and so friendly. You can really tell that the staff here care about creating a good experience for everyone, and that level of hospitality doesn’t go unnoticed. If you’re looking for a place with great drinks, fun energy, and even better people, The Dead Flamingo is a must. Truly appreciate the kindness we were shown, we’ll definitely be coming back!

Google
We went twice to watch Love Island showings and had the best time on both nights! The atmosphere was electric; so fun, relaxed, and full of good vibes. What truly made the experience unforgettable was the owner. They went out of their way to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable, and their passion for creating a fun, inclusive space really shines through. You can tell they genuinely care about the guests and the community. We’re already looking forward to the next event!

Brought to you by the same cool kids on the block from Better Days, better known as Casa Tiki, this concept is already established as an industry standard on little havana. Cocktails are solid, staff is friendly and entertainment is ever changing. Great weekday spot for Karaoke and pool on Tuesdays.

Google
CASA. TIKI. IS. ALWAYS. A. VIBE! Each time I’ve come to Casa Tiki, I’ve always had a good time. The drinks are phenomenal and they always seem to have a new menu and the music definitely set the mood and vibe. The bartenders are quick and awesome as well. Be sure to check this place out asap if you want to have a good time.

Yelp
Great drink, people, and vibes Love what the new management is doing with the place. They have trivia on Mondays which is probably the best in the city (it's jeopardy style so you busy in which I love compared to the write in sheets) & karaoke on Tuesday. Solid pool table too. Solid 10/10

Yelp
I was invited to an event here. Fun space! Seasonally decorated - this time in Halloween spirits and I understand it will switch to a winter one after. More spaced out (perhaps less discovered) than their sister location. I prefer the space so it worked for me (I don't like to be too crowded). Very talented bar tenders that took their time in an appreciated way (quality yet efficient). They had a trivia night after the event which was really fun! Both staff and patrons were swapping jokes, it was a great environment! Keep it up casa tiki crew!

Yelp
We were walking around little Havana and not having any luck with finding a good bar that could accommodate our group of 10 on a Saturday night. Some required a 2 drink minimum (a few of our group didn't drink) and others just didn't have the space and/or we just weren't dressed for the occasion. But after some Yelping, we saw that Casa Tiki was nearby. I'm already a huge fan of tiki bars so we walked over to grab a couple of drinks. There were a handful of people at the bar so my group made our place in the back couch area. There weren't menus just yet so a couple of us went up to the bar to ask for recommendations. When Will, the owner, found out it was my bachelorette party, he and his team pulled out all the stops for us. From gifting us a bottle of champagne to bringing out the bubble machines and disco lights, they made us feel like queens! It was perfect timing: the DJ was just about getting set up when we arrived and they really got the party started! He took alllll of our requests from Bay music to ABBA to Whitney Houston and truly made the night so fun. There isn't *really* a dance floor but we were really dancing the night away. Guess that just goes to show it's about who you're with! The staff even joined us in dancing for a bit and another guest bought us drinks too. I'm so glad we ended up at Casa Tiki for the last night of my bachelorette. They took what was looking like a sad night and completely turned it around for us. Wish we were in Miami for one extra day so we could've checked out Better Days (Will's other bar) too! That'll be bookmarked for next time. We learned that he and his team just took over Casa Tiki maybe a few weeks before so I can only bet it'll get even better from here. THANK YOU to Will & the Casa Tiki team for such a fun & memorable experience!

Yelp
We lovvvvve will and Danny sooo much!! Dead flamingo pop up is amazing Couldn't have a better team behind that bar.

Yelp
It's not a pure tiki bar per se, but Casa Tiki gave us a decent spot to continue a friend's birthday party and to watch our NBA team's effort. There was also a salsa class happening this Friday; one of the birthday girl tried the class was definitely a talented dancer! We did try to get a special drink for the birthday girls but were told they don't do anything for that; maybe since it was just a small group of us? Still, the sound system was nice and vibrant & the drinks well blended. I started off with a rum old fashioned and also enjoyed their mojito.

Yelp
What an amazing gem of a place! A few remodels happening so stay tuned for what's to come! This is the perfect place to watch sports games on a HUGE screen, they have a pool table, fantastic craft cocktails and the best vibes + staff! Support + Drink Local!

Yelp
I have nothing but amazing words to say to the Casa Tiki team! We randomly stumbled upon this place on a Saturday night during a bachelorette weekend trip. We tried other bars, but they weren't as welcoming (probably because we were wearing casual clothes but I digress) We swooped the back area with full couch access since there were 10 of us and got the drinks flowing pretty easily. The DJ was just setting up as we settled in, and we immediately asked if they took requests. They did! Here's the best part: the team could see we came with a purpose and when they found out we were celebrating our soon-to-be-mrs they legit gave the best service ever by gifting us with a bottle of champs and bringing out bubble machines for us to dance with. We had such a great time interacting with the bartenders and so glad we got to meet the owner who let us know the place is fairly new. The vibes were great and gah, I cannot stop raving how open and sweet everyone was. Some other guests gifted us drinks because we were all on such a high! Thank you to the incredible team for making this one of the most memorable nights of the weekend!

Yelp
Awesome bar great people, yummy drinks!!! Chill environment Best of all pet friendly!!!!!
google avatar

Katie Z.

Yelp
Warning: This bar is not tiki themed anymore (new management?) There is no drink menu and they only offer a CBD infused drink or beer. We came expecting a tiki bar and did not find it so we left. But the bartender was welcoming and everyone in there was having a good time. Tiki = no 420 = yes

Yelp
Celebrated the wife's birthday here and popped a few bottles. Unbelievable service, music, and vibes were immaculate. Huge shout out to Eddie for making everything happen. Can't recommend this place enough. DJ plays open format and keeps the crowd jumping. Thank you guys for everything!!! Will definitely be returning soon

Yelp
The most amazing true local hangout with amazing drinks and a more amazing staff of people. Updating and making changes daily to a brand new future in a historic miami neighborhood. Can't wait!

Yelp
A true neighborhood locals bar where the vibes are always right. Whether you're there alone or bring all your friends, you're sure to have a blast; the staff makes sure of it! The team at Casa Tiki is second to none and you can tell that without their fun, smiling faces this bar would be a totally different experience. Will, Alex, David and Reid go above and beyond and make you feel like part of the family. Whether you're looking for a fun night of dancing, coming out to watch a sporting event, or even want to catch a comedy show, Casa Tiki will not disappoint.

Yelp
I came with some friends & we had a great time. We were there "early" (9pm) on a Friday night, so there wasn't a lot of people there. Staff was friendly, drinks were reasonably priced, and there were a couple fun games to keep us busy. The decor is fun and stylish.

Yelp
We recently discovered that this place is under new management, and both the service and cocktails are top-notch. The DJ was phenomenal, spinning old school hip hop and R&B. We can't wait to return, this will definitely be our new go-to spot.

Yelp
Best hospitality and cocktails on 8th st. The hard work and outstanding atmosphere the dead flamingo team has created at casa tiki is unreal!

Yelp
Grabbed a drink at Casa Tiki on Friday evening. While we did not see the place in full action, there was a lot to like about Casa Tiki. Quality: Even though they may have held back a bit on fully embracing the tiki bar theme, Casa Tiki is still the best you will find in Miami. There are definitely some great small touches and the cocktail menus are very inventive. I enjoyed X Marks The Spot, which had a touch of heat to match its fruity elements. I also ordered the Hawaiian Sunset, which was a little less fun, but a great deal on the Happy Hour menu. Quantity: No issues with size or strength. Value: $7 for Happy Hour Cocktails. $12-$17 for Signature Cocktails. Ambiance: Casa Tiki is a cocktail bar and club located in Little Havana. They have two areas, one that is set up for live music or large parties and the one that is the main bar section. Only the bar section was open when we arrived, and it is tiki bar themed. Lots of cool artwork, a straw hut roof over the bar, and plenty of tiki inspired elements. Two televisions hung on each side of the bar and they opted for more modern dance music over lounge music. Crowd: Arrived early on Friday and we were the only ones. Service: Extremely kind bartender. Parking: Decent street parking.

Yelp
Saturday night was super fun watching our favorite local band, TILT! Great ambiance! We had an amazing time!

Yelp
The service, drinks, and music is awesome here. The bartenders make great drinks. I ordered a margarita and it was on point. We also ordered tequila shots. I recommend coming here with a group of friends. It's a lot of fun. :)

Yelp
Best bar ever. Ain't nobody doing it like casa tiki . The vibes immaculate, the service phenomenal, the people truly, are one of a kind. We are greeted like we're family every time we walk in.

Jess K.

Yelp
Best bar, best people, best cocktails. Period. Everyone's favorite local bar - if you want good vibes this is your place

Gloria D.

Yelp
Such a great time! This spot is a must to hang and chill with some awesome people! Alex is by far the most amazing person and makes you feel welcomed. I was there for the Panthers game what a good time !! Come by and support them.

Nerea A.

Yelp
I love this place- it has become our neighborhood bar. The drinks are great, the ambiance is fun and they have different events happening all the time. honestly, so worth going to! I hope they keep doing their thing

Aaron S.

Yelp
The service here was phenomenal, they crafted a cocktail that was perfect for my tastes. The overall vibe of this bar is just downright amazing. 10/10 would definitely go back there again.

Angela R.

Yelp
The Dead Flamingo take over is absolutely amazing. Fire drinks & great service always something fun going and they are always looking out for the community. Get over there and get a drink... or multiple!!!

Lisette B.

Yelp
I hear that one of the owners will stare longingly into Fifty Cent's eyes hoping that he'll turn all his attention in their direction. If you feel a little lonely and need some attention yourself, he'll also definitely stare longingly into your eyes as well if you ask nicely. Aside from that it's an amazing spot for beverages, all the bartenders are friendly and excel at their craft! Excited to see this pop-up continue.
google avatar

Mark P.

Yelp
Come here a couple times during events held at Tower Theater. Really nice venue, but seems to suffer a bit from customer service. That, and the drinks I've always had were a bit on the weak side. To be fair, I've only been for 2 sponsored open-bar events, but still no excuse for the staff always seem in a bad mood.
google avatar

Luis C.

Yelp
Well, the place has a nice ambiance, and is located right smack on Calle 8. I also appreciate that it had this amazing band play. What I don't appreciate is that there's a mandatory 20% "service fee" (really a tip) on your bill, even if you're only getting 2 or 3 beers. Then at the bottom of the check there's a line for additional tip and you already paid tip in your bill. Watch out for that sneaky practice that a lot of places are engaging in these days
google avatar

Cindy G.

Yelp
Came here with a group of 10. Drinks , music, and ambiance were outstanding!! The three men working here were horrible with customer service . No greeting , no smiles, no thank you. What was up ? Security guy was creepy and unhappy. Such a terrible vibe!
google avatar

Joseph S.

Yelp
We hit it up on an early afternoon after brunch, and a mix between amazing local bar (Kenny knows Miami) and cool tourist spot. Great Happy hour specials even on the weekend !
google avatar

Jose O.

Yelp
I went with a friend for some drinks and the security guy it was super nice, that day was a comedy show and we didn't know that, we entered and it was super fun! Thank you guys! Nice place!

Valin R.

Yelp
I've been to this bar a few times and the service there was very low to mid. Ever time I've gone there the atmosphere was very lacking, and a lot of talk circulates the area as well about their lack of professionalism when it comes to booking artists; I keep hearing from a lot customer's, performers and even other bars who have all expressed the same opinions based off their previous experiences with Casa Tiki. As disheartening as it sounds Casa Tiki has a history of unprofessional business practices til this very day. I hear that there is a case being open on them for failing to pay a group of performers who worked there over a month ago... It's really sad to see, hear and read that this kind of corporate abuse is still happening to hard working artists who pour their heart and souls into what the love to do. You should be ashamed of yourselves..
google avatar

Julio C.

Yelp
I went to this place for a roasting comedy show, and Im glad I went. The place is big and comfortable, the decoration was well done. They were playing all kind of music, mostly old school, and I loved it. The show itself was ok. There were about 30 people inside and it made the place looked empty, since it is extremely big inside. After the show they were playing live music. More people should know about this place. The vibe is chill and pleasant. I will be back.
google avatar

Jacky C.

Yelp
TL;DR: Come early because the bars closes down at midnight (curfew). Great chill spot to party with DJ, dance floor, and happy hour. No food service, but allow you to bring outside food in. Came here on a Saturday night recommended by a few friends who have been here a few times before. Came here around 8PM because there's a midnight curfew in the city of Miami. The crowd started picking up around 10:30ish, but wasn't too overly crowded. They opened up the right side of the room around 10PM, were they had their DJ set up with a few lounge tables and dance floor. The bartenders are very friendly. We sat at the corner next to the bar, where there was a person clearing our table everything we finished our drinks and ordered more. They even allowed us to bring outside food into the bar and he even took our trash for us. There's happy hour, which I think is from 5-8PM on select cocktails, beer, and wine. They don't serve food, but they do allow you to bring food from outside establishments as mentioned before. As the hour approached curfew, they won't kick you out immediately, but 30 minutes after midnight, they will start pushing you out. Overall a pretty fun time, well controlled crowd. If you don't feel comfortable walking around without a mask on, then I don't recommend coming here, or even going to any bars in Miami.

Yelp
Super fun ambiance! Had such a fun time with my friends in a Tuesday! They have tons of events on the weekends but even at the beginning of the week they were turning up!

Yelp
2 stars, 1 for decor, 1 for drinks.....that's all you get here. Showed up around 7:45 and the music that was playing suited the place....some cool old ska beats, some rockabilly, obscure 70s reggae, you know, what you would expect from a Hawaiian style tiki bar. Then the DJ showed up.....wow, what a disappointment! The Drake and Cardi B started up along with some mild EDM and that was that. I've been to Tiki Bars across the country, from the TikiTi in Los Angeles, the Purple Orchid in El Segundo, Frankie Tiki Room in Vegas, even the Zombie Hut in Brooklyn.....what do they all have in common aside from drinks and decor???? The music fits the vibe of the place!! It completes the experience. Otherwise it's just another Miami nightclub covered in Hawaiian decorations. That's what we felt here. Bouncers at the door, People hovering over you at the bar, a fucking bathroom attendant for Christ sake! All that was missing was VIP tables with bottles of Grey Goose stuffed with sparklers! Sad because if this keeps up I don't see it lasting long as a "tiki" establishment. I'm sure the owners had a vision, they should stick to it and not "Miamify" it too much. Take a page from Bar Nancy's book 2 blocks away or Esotico Miami in the Omni.... I will give it another shot maybe earlier in the day, might change my mind in the review, but for now....this place is catering to a party crowd not a cool Hawaiian getaway.
google avatar

Lisbeidy R.

Yelp
A little hole on the wall on Calle 8; Casa Tiki is clearly Hawaiian themed. There's tiki torches even you come in and flowers and vines decorated all over the ceiling. The staff was really nice and the atmosphere of the bar is chill. The drinks are beautifully made as well. If you looking to grab a few drinks and to dance to some throwbacks, you would definitely enjoy yourself here.

Jordan W.

Yelp
My favorite place on Calle Ocho!!! Casa Tiki is a great place to have a cocktail or a beer!!! There's a DJ and lots of people on the dance floor having a great time!!! Love the decor and chill vibe!!! The bartenders, Security, and manager are all super nice and welcoming!!!
google avatar

Jessica Z.

Yelp
Came here with my friend to enjoy the happy hour specials and was welcomed in by the friendly staff and delicious drinks. They definitely offer a lot of IG worthy drink post if that's your thing and the atmosphere is super cute! Big bar with lots is space to socially distance inside and they even offer some outdoor space as well. There was a live show around 8pm

Yelp
Great location for live music vibes from 7blck. It had an array of signature cocktails to choose from. My favorites are the "Song of Fire" and "X marked the spot". My waitress was knowledgeable about the cocktails, and they made me feel like I was at home. Come by here if you want a Miami hometown experience. Yelp
Tried the Hawaiian Sunset, it had a strong taste to it like grapefruit. It was good a good drink 7/10

Angela M.

Yelp
I honestly can't say enough good things about Casa Tiki and the entire staff there. I was only in Florida for 2 nights and was having a not great evening. My plans to go to Casa Tiki, as a Tiki bar fan, were derailed, and I didn't arrive until almost closing time. RJ and the bartenders on staff were so accommodating and still made us the best Mai Tai we've had! Thank you, Casa Tiki, for being the best part of my night! I'll definitely be back!!

Jonathan B.

Yelp
The service is pretty good, but the overall atmosphere is a bit... chilling. Forced labor is never a good look. They apparently don't pay their performers at all, something I overheard Jen of their performers saying to another, that they would never work their again. Apparently they con people into working there and then don't pay. Sad that somewhere that seems to be making a profit is so crooked.

John S.

Yelp
Worst service ever. Bar tender focused flirting with girls and over charged us a drink. Asked for manager and fake manager pretending showed up with zero concern.
google avatar

Tomiko K.

Yelp
Cute place, drinks were good. Not much "social distancing" with the clientele meaning that if you're sitting at the bar expect strangers hovering over and around you without masks on. I probably won't go back until after there's a vaccine.
google avatar

Helen C.

Yelp
I came here on Friday night to celebrate my birthday, at 12. We originally came for their speciality drinks and turns out, they weren't serving the speciality drinks. The music that was playing did not go with the vibe of the spot...we had a few drinks and ended up going to another spot. Would come back and give it another shot when they have the drinks available.

Yelp
New spot on Calle Ocho with a Hawaiian twist. Casa Tiki is only 3 weeks old. Learned about it on Instagram and stopped by for a friends birthday. Because of the current climate and the group size I was with (10 people), I made sure to make reservations. I believe reservations are recommended but not required. We went early at 7pm so the place was empty, however, it picked up around 10pm and at 11pm there's a DJ. Before that the music being played during downtime was various tropical tunes and beats. It gets a bit more lively when the DJ is playing though, as they play more upbeat music with similar vibe. I do suggest to the business owner(s) that because of its name, the music being played should be a mix of tropical and Spanish tunes. At the end of the day, it's in the heart of Miami and it only makes sense to live up to the name "Casa Tiki". With that being said, a suggested playlist for downtime is called "Vibra Tropical" on Spotify. As for drinks, I think they're comparable with the usual Miami prices and I love that they all are poured in cool cups - makes you want to take them home!. The happy hour menu has $7 cocktails (my faves so far are Saturn and Hawaiian Sunset), $4 and $5 beer & wine, which is perfect lasting until 8pm. Bar staff was attentive and took care of us. I also suggest that for drinks served on the rocks the ice be one large cube or a sphere instead of regular ice to prevent from watering down so quickly. Casa Tiki is a spacious bar with lots of room for social distancing.

Yelp
Great location with a lot to do. I had their signature drink which was tasty and comes with cool presentation.
