Casa Tulum delivered an amazing experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was vibrant and beautifully decorated with a coastal, Tulum-inspired vibe. The service from Victor was attentive and friendly—he made the recommendations and kept everything flowing smoothly. The food? Delicious! Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully plated. The ceviche was fresh, the Tulum fajita special was packed with flavor, and the cocktail was top-notch. Perfect spot for a fun date night, girls’ outing, or just treating yourself to great food and good vibes. I’ll definitely be back!

Casa Tulum in the South Loop is a newer Mexican seafood restaurant I checked out during a recent trip back home to Chicago. I had seen photos online and was excited to visit and it definitely lives up to the aesthetic. The interior is beautiful and gives off major Tulum vibes. I ordered the horchata, which was actually pretty good. My friends ordered cocktails but felt they were a bit too sugary and lacked balance. Food-wise, I was especially looking forward to the corn, but it didn’t quite meet my expectations. It was more street corn style than grilled, which isn’t really my preference. The barrio tacos were decent, not bad, but nothing particularly memorable either. If you’re going for the vibe and atmosphere, Casa Tulum is a win. It’s a great spot for photos and a cute night out. But if you’re hoping for an authentic Tulum-inspired culinary experience, it might not fully deliver. Still, it’s worth checking out for the ambiance alone.

What a great addition to the neighborhood! We tried Casa Tulum today and we're very happy with the food. The veggie fajitas are huge and definitely can fill up two people. The chips and salsa was delicious; with thin crispy chips and warm flavorful salsa! I didn't think I would like warm salsa but I did! Also they have salsa matcha and it was sooo good! The corn tortillas were also very flavorful. I just really appreciated that all the food was warm and fresh, which really makes a difference. They have a decent selection of mocktails and they were delicious and affordable! The side of beans, rice and pico were just OK, nothing special. NOTE to all the vegetarians, only the beans and white rice are vegetarian (refried beans have lard). One suggestion for improvement would be to offer a vegan protein option. South Loop has a lot of vegetarians like myself. Also the tables they have are not great for dining because the funky legs keep getting in the way. Keep the warm and flavorful food coming! I'll be sure to visit again!

Mireya served our table of three, and she was amazing! She was extremely friendly, attentive and caring. We absolutely loved our food and the drinks were so good. They were strong, but tasty! I live in the South Loop area and can’t wait to come back again!

Google
My partner and I had an incredible experience at Casa Tulum! From the moment we sat down, we were blown away. The drinks were amazing—perfectly crafted, refreshing, and full of flavor. The food was absolutely delicious with generous portions that left us happily full (and still talking about it afterward). What truly made the evening unforgettable, though, was our server, Victor. He was warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. His recommendations were spot-on and his service made the whole night even better. We’ll definitely be back—this place is a gem!

I was in town for the weekend and looking for a good meal…. I found it! Everything I ordered tasted amazing including the drinks! The server was very professional and polite! The atmosphere was real chill and cozy. 🔥

Went here with the wife on a Saturday evening. Sat at the bar and asked the bar tender for recommendations as I was undecided on a couple of items. We had the Tinga sopes as apetizers and the wife had the Red Snapper Nayarit style. It was made to perfection and the portions were big. I had the Baja style tacos and they were very well made. The right amount of fish, toppings and a couple choices of sauce to dress them up. Our experience was made even better by our knowledgeable waiter who constantly checked on us. My wife had the coconut drink and one of their specials. They were all great. I can’t recommend this place enough. Makes you feel the Tulum vibes with their food, drinks, decor and ambiance!!!

Google
A wonderful addition to South Loop! The food and service were top notch. I went on a Monday afternoon and there was ample seating at the bar. The Cadillac margarita was excellent and worth the upgrade. Also loved the complimentary chips & salsa. The star of the show was definitely the red snapper - phenomenal! My waitress Maykeling was so nice and personable. I can’t wait to return and try everything else on the menu. 5 stars all around!

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem of Chicago located in the south loop. My Husband and I went for dinner last night and sat at the bar. Raphael took amazing care of us. The place is decorated so intentionally we felt like we were on vacation. I especially liked the monkey lamps. The tv's show reels of beautiful travel destinations. It is so relaxing. They even have drinks served in fresh coconuts. The star of the show is the food though. My Husband ordered the Cochinita Pibil Tacos. You get 3 nice sized tacos. He said they are so delicious that he will crave them from time to time. I ordered the Chicken Enchiladas with Mole Sauce. The Mole was spectacular!! It was a layering of flavors and a touch of heat. I honestly will probably order the same thing when we go back. The only thing that was slightly disappointing is that the red sangria comes out of a box. I would LOVE if they crafted some made in house. All in all 5 stars and can't wait to return.

Yelp
Casa Tulum is located in the south loop on Michigan avenue. The vibe of the restaurant is very much tropical vacation atmosphere. However the inside of the restaurant felt very warm and no breeze from the air conditioner. We came in around 6:50. The tables were full and we did not have to wait long for an open table. Our server was busy but friendly. We put in a drink order but it felt like at least 20 minutes before the drinks arrived. The order of chips and salsa was brought out a few minutes after we were seated. The chips were bland and did not taste fresh. The salsa was very good. The cheese sauce could be skipped and not worth it. This is when I got a sense that the service was a little disjointed. I ordered the Tulum special which was steak, shrimp, chicken served over a bed of rice with cheese, peppers and onions. The special came with corn tortillas but they were brought out later once I had already started to eat my meal. Another person in my group did not get their food when everyone else did so it made it awkward to eat while they were still waiting. The Tulum special was okay. If I were to go back I don't know if I would try it again. The service definitely needs some work. The fastest thing to come out was the dessert.

Yelp
What a difference service makes. Had such a great experience a few days ago I brought my husband to try it. We had a reservation and were offered a table or the bar. We made the mistake of choosing a table. Our server was friendly, but absent. Along with our food. At the one hour mark, we flagged someone down. A few minutes later, someone tried to bring us the wrong food. 10 more minutes and we flag our server who seems to be avoiding us (and the table next to us who had the same issue). I'm actually shocked he never stopped by to ask if we wanted a second drink or to say he knew about our delays. Given that we ordered two plates of tacos, I'm not clear what's taking so long - even with a full restaurant. We get food about 5 min later and my husband's food is really disappointing. We're starving so he eats 2 of the 3 tacos, but his tinga looks not at all like what I had 5 days ago and the tortillas-which are the best thing about their tacos-are grease soaked and falling apart. Mine are perfect. I wonder if they ran out of tinga and scrambled to toss together something, because the chicken did not look anything like what I ate a few days ago. Sadly, this will fall off our radar to revisit anytime soon. It was a really poor experience all around. If you go, sit at the bar.

Yelp
Food was well prepared and authentic. Service was attentive - we never wanted for beverages. Place looks/feels like Tulum - and yes, we've been there.

Yelp
Met with my girlfriends for happy hour, we ordered sangria's and Paloma to kick start the evening. The happy hour specials were decent nothing exciting. This was my first time back after they had briefly shut down due to a fire hazard a few months ago. We didn't get any entrees, the chocolate cake was mediocre.

Yelp
Cute local spot with great atmosphere and good vibes. The drinks were delicious, and the soup was definitely a winner. I really enjoyed my tacos too! The queso took a few tries to get right, but overall it was a solid experience. The waiter was super nice and informative, which made the visit even better. You've got to check it out at least once.

Yelp
I recently ate at Casa Tulum and was immediately blown away by how beautiful it was inside; you truly feel like you've been transported to Mexico. I was surprised I hadn't heard of this place before, but I learned they had opened briefly before a kitchen fire forced them to close. Now they're back, and I'm so glad I found them. I had been on a mission to find a whole fried snapper and stumbled upon Casa Tulum through a Google search. The snapper was absolutely delicious; we upgraded and added two sauces, a flavorful red sauce with sautéed onions and a garlic sauce. The garlic sauce could've used a bit more of a kick for my taste, but it was still really good. I'd recommend pairing the snapper with the shrimp that usually comes with the red sauce; I think it would have added even more depth to the dish. I also ordered the Tulum Special, which came with shrimp, steak, and chicken over rice with cheese. It was hearty, but a little too cheesy for my personal taste. The homemade tortillas that came with it were a nice touch, though. There are so MANY things on the menu I'm excited to try next time. For drinks, we had a piña colada and a mojito, both were on the sweeter side. But our server, Victor, noticed right away and brought me a non-sweet mojito instead, which was perfect. Speaking of Victor; he was amazing. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, genuinely seemed excited to be there, and had such a great personality. He's the kind of person who makes you want to come back to a place.

Yelp
Pretty solid Mexican cuisine in the neighborhood. The birria tacos were really good but the Baja fish tacos left a bit to be desired. My cocktail tasted very good but it didn't seem to have much of any alcohol in it. But the service was great. I will definitely be back to have another experience.

Yelp
We've only been once but we're so happy to have a new restaurant in South Loop! We definitely will be back! Our first visit did not disappoint! We were pleasantly surprised and impressed! Everything was flavorful and fresh, I loved all the flavors in my dish! In good fashion, we had plenty food and left overs! You get a good serving and it's not too pricy! The space is beautiful and large, good for girls night out, families and a date! Casual and fun space. Cocktails were fresh and boozy!

Yelp
Casa Tulum is a hidden gem. Beautifully designed restaurant with a chic vibe. The ambiance is perfect for a night out with friends or a date. Dress up a little but it's not overly formal, but not super casual either I ordered the Red Snapper, which was delicious, though I found eating a whole fish a bit tricky. The sauce options were a great touch, adding extra flavor. I also added shrimp for $10, but with only five shrimp, it felt a bit overpriced. The dish came with garlic-seasoned rice and crispy fries, both of which were excellent. The drinks, served in real coconuts, were refreshing and tasted amazing. However, the first round had too much ice, which they adjusted for the second. Despite the great flavor, the drinks didn't seem very strong. Service was greater . Our server gave great recommendations, checked in regularly, and even the manager came by to ensure we were enjoying everything. Overall, we rated our meals between 7 and 8.5/10. I'd definitely return for the food, drinks, and stylish atmosphere. A great spot for a girls' night or a date! Would highly recommend, and I see this place getting more popular soon!

Yelp
Another great new restaurant in South Loop! My husband and I had lunch here yesterday for an unexpected lunch date! I'm so happy we decided to check this place out. I have heard great reviews on our neighborhood Facebook page. It's so beautifully decorated, I kept commenting on how I felt like I was on vacation while we were dining there. They have quite an extensive menu, I hope at some point they add a lunch menu. They also have a kids menu! Which is really great for this neighborhood because there's lots of families around. We started our meal off with chicken empanadas - they were so tasty.. perfectly seasoned and fried. The dipping sauce for the empanadas was excellent. I ordered the shrimp tacos gobernador and whoa-- I will continue to come back here just for these tacos. My husband ordered the fried fish tacos. The servings were really large! I absolutely loved my shrimp tacos, and my husband even shared my plate too, i had him try some, he agreed, so very delicious. And again the serving was so large I had to share! The fish tacos were just OK. I think the batter on the fish needs to be seasoned a little more? It was still good in comparison to other fish tacos We've had here in Chicago, but might need a little bit of tweaking. I also ordered an Horchata coffee and OMG was that delightful. I can't wait to go back to try more things and to bring my daughter here. The staff is really nice. The restaurant is very clean and the bathroom is decorated with really fun wallpaper. Again you will definitely feel like you're on vacation!

Yelp
Welcome to elegant casual! THE best staff - super attentive and thoughtful. The fajitas were delicious the flan authentic and just right. Empanadas had a nice sauce on the side. Be patient- good meals can take time.

Yelp
The layout can be a bit confusing at first. There's a large open space before you reach the host stand, plus two bars. We've been here three times now, so we've figured it out; always check in with the host or hostess, no matter where you plan to sit. The bar area on the left doesn't have dedicated service, but you can still eat and drink there--they just want to make sure you're being taken care of. As for the food, the tortilla chips are thicker than we prefer, but the salsa is good. If your dish comes with tortillas, they are oily, which is unusual. That said, we always order the molcajete because the sauce is amazing.

Yelp
When you want traditional or upscale Mexican cuisine, you have to try Casa Tulum! The menu is extensive and tempting for everything. I devoured the Tulum special (mix of chicken beef shrimp with red and green peppers and onions over a cheesy rice bed). My friend had the big delicious red snapper with fries. We shared the tasty corn on the cob side. Our waiter was very professional, attentive, and helpful with the menu items and recommending certain cocktails to your liking. Drinks were fresh, colorful and effective lol The moment you walk in the door feels like a vacation is awaiting you. Clean, plentiful tables adorned by beautiful lighting and palm spinning fans. There are two full separated bars. For us ladies, it is a special bonus to have a very clean fresh smelling nicely decorated bathroom. Last, but not least, our hostess greeted us very warmly, and as we left, thanked us for our patronage. We cannot wait to go back and try more food and drinks! @casatulum

Yelp
The vibeeeeeee! When you walk in, the ambiance is date night or girls night, very chic. Went here for dinner and had the Red Snapper, it was delicious. We ordered two sauces - the garlic butter and another that included shrimp and onion. For drinks we had a Rosa Pasteles (something new they're introducing next week) and an espresso martini - ask for the coffee liqueur because at first it was just vodka and coffee . Chips and salsa come arrive before appetizers and entrees so you should bring an appetite. We sat at the bar and the bar tenders and other staff were friendly and check on us from time to time. I will definitely return with my friends to try other menu items.

Yelp
Came for lunch and found it all OK and but not at the level I'd want to come back. Moderately priced at $100 pre-tip for appetizer, 2 drinks, 2 entrees and a dessert. Guac - 3.5/5. Large portion. Good flavor. Smooth texture, which is a bit disappointing. Cocktails - 3/5. Coconut cocktail was quite good and balanced. But I got a passionfruit one that was a tad alcohol forward. Mole Oaxaqueno - 3/5. The waiter strongly recommended this dish and it fell flat for me. The mole just wasn't that complex. Churro - 3.5/5. Freshly fried, but could have use more sweetness.
google avatar

Ann-Marie H.

Yelp
Very Delicious and filling! I got the shrimp and cheese empanadas as well as the red snapper. I also enjoyed the strawberry margaritas. My waiter gave great service and menu suggestions! The tables are very narrow and if two ppl are dining together they would need another because it's really not enough room for multiple diners while eating. I had room because it was just me but the table beside me had to be relocated. The decor is stylish and chic. It feels like a vacation escape

Yelp
Loud environment and slippery floors BUT the drinks were good! Fun options and the food was fun. I ordered both my drink and food in something else- sustainable!

Yelp
I visited Casa Tulum on Cinco de Mayo, which happened to be their re-opening. First, I'm so glad I had a reservation since it was absolutely packed! I had the Rosa Pastel and Tulum Coconut cocktails, which were both delicious but I preferred the Rosa Pastel. We had their coconut cocktail oysters to start; they were very fresh but a couple were poorly shucked. It didn't affect the flavor, but it made them less presentable. For entrees we had the red snapper and the birria tacos. The snapper was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The birria tacos weren't my favorite, but I'd like to try the steak tacos in the future. All in all Casa Tulum is excellent, and I look forward to dining there again.

Yelp
Great addition to the neighborhood! Great vibe inside too. Seafood is fresh and portions are quite large. For an app, I got the ceviche. Holy cow it was so large it could have been my dinner. I got the red snapper, highly recommend. They were busy on a Friday night, but we were able to walk right in and get a seat.

Yelp
Esau makes amazing drinks at the bar. I always leave satisfied after having delicious food and drinks. Will be back again & again. So happy for the new addition to the South Loop.

Yelp
This is still a fairly new restaurant in the neighborhood, so I'll try to show a bit of grace. Ambiance: It's a nice atmosphere. Not too loud, and we were able to hold a conversation without shouting. Some of the tables for 2 are a bit small/narrow. There's only enough room for your drink and your entree. If you plan to order a couple of apps, too, you'd need more room. Service: We were seated quickly. The server and other staff were nice and checked in often - almost too often. It began to feel as though they were rushing us to order, and finish our meal. We were there for less than 2 hours, and the constant check-ins started early on. Food: I had the rib eye tacos. Rather than several smaller pieces of rib eye on a tortilla, it's served as a big slice of steak on the tortilla. My tacos came out barely lukewarm, so I had to send them back (something I hate doing). Not sure how long they had been sitting before they were served to me. The meat lacked flavor, and the tacos left much to be desired. The side of rice I ordered was flavorful, though. Drinks: I had a guava margarita. It was flavorful, and I'd recommend it. Since we felt pretty rushed, we didn't order more. Overall, I might consider returning for drinks and to try some apps. However, I'll wait until they get the kinks out. It's nice to have a new spot in the neighborhood, and I do want to see them do well.

Yelp
Second time and the family run establishment is well done from the front to back of the house! Esau is a great bartender who made sure we had all the libations we needed, and when they were slammed, he brought us a pitcher of water so ensure we could always top ourselves off. I had the Molcajete both times and enough portions for two or three meals! Started with the shrimp ceviche this time and the fish last time - both amazing! Drinks are great and make you feel like you're at the beach in Tulum! Had the Coconut Mango (in a coconut!) cocktail to start, a piña colada and a glass of white wine. All delicious! Great ambiance and local people out supporting our newest restaurant. Will be a fun spot in the summer for sure!

Yelp
Attended a birthday celebration with family and friends on a Thursday night and the place had a nice crowd. We started with chips, guacamole and salsa. The guacamole was freshly made with good favor and the salsa was hot like l like it. I ordered the chicken, skirt steak with grilled jalapeño, onion,in a spicy red sauce. (Molcajete) The meal came in a hot mortar, delicious, it was definitely a meal for two, the steak was tender and everything came together nicely on a soft corn tortilla shell . Great looking menu that must be explored properly, very good drinks and the service was excellent.
google avatar

Marianne A.

Yelp
Ordered delivery service. Wanted to support a newer restaurant. The prices were high in my perspective. The portions, "fixings" (nothing on taco but the grilled chicken). My rice was cooked perfectly. The Coffee w/ Horchatas good; and the Frescas with hibiscus super delicious. Overall for the price and quality related to main dishes pricing, I wouldn't recommend.

Yelp
So ecstatic to see this edition to the neighborhood. We have not had a good Mexican restaurant in the area. Food was delicious and fresh. Service was amazing. Jani was our server and she was knowledgeable and professional. Beautiful decor inside. We will definitely return.

Yelp
I wish I could say my first visit to Casa Tulum in Chicago's South Loop was memorable--in a good way--but unfortunately it was memorable only for how completely they failed to serve us. My wife and I arrived on a weeknight around 4 PM, and the restaurant was eerily empty: just two other tables occupied, and about eight staff members milling around. We were promptly greeted and seated by the hostess, and then... nothing. For more than fifteen minutes we sat at our table--no menus, no water, no acknowledgment whatsoever. Meanwhile, the staff clustered in small groups, checking their phones or chatting with one another, completely ignoring the guests in front of them. When someone finally brought us menus, it was clear why nobody was in a hurry to take our order: the table was sticky and littered with crumbs, and the menus themselves were smeared with old food stains. We waited another ten minutes hoping someone would come by to take our drink or appetizer order--again, nothing. At that point we decided we'd wasted enough of our evening. We stood up and walked out, and even then the hostess didn't offer a single word of apology or explanation--she just watched us leave. I've lived in the South Loop for over a decade and was genuinely excited when Casa Tulum opened. But after this baffling level of neglect--from filthy tables and stained menus to completely absent service--I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone. There are dozens of far better spots nearby that actually appreciate your patronage. Do yourself a favor: skip Casa Tulum and take your business somewhere that treats you like a guest, not an afterthought.

Yelp
Street corn is so so good! the rest of the dishes we got were good as well. We got Quesabirrias, Queso Fundido and empanadas. Empanadas weren't the best I've had. They lacked flavor but came with great dipping salsa! Got take out so can't speak to the device or ambiance. But love this Mexican restaurant in the neighborhood! Will definitely go back
google avatar

Yelp
Went here on a random Sunday and they were able to accommodate my bf and I. The food was delicious, the quesabirria was even better the next day. Service was delightful and the drinks were delicious. Will be returning.

Yelp
Ambiance was nice.. service not the greatest and food ok. We order one drink and was never asked if we wanted another one, timing from getting our meal after our appetizer took them an hour!!! We got there at 5:10 pm and rushed to get out as we had a performance at 7:30 pm not too far, but again we got our plates at 6:45 pm. Also I order tampiqueña and was more like a sirloin over cooked piece cut steak!! So disappointed with our meal. We were so looking forward to a great date night, but honestly we were disappointed I don't think we will recommend nor return back. Also, when calling they do not answer the phones.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this delicious restaurant when we were walking around the area (our Airbnb wasn't too far away) and so glad we did! We were seated right away and service was great! It was pretty busy but didn't seem too loud and the inside of the restaurant had a cool vibe. The food was all delicious and we will definitely come back if we are in town again!

Yelp
Food was amazing , drinks were good. Service was fast . The ambiance is super nice and chill . Bartenders were also 10/10 !

Yelp
The South Loop hasn't had a good Mexican restaurant since Zapatista closed, but the drought is over. We've been to Casa Tulum twice in the past several weeks and both times were delighted by the generous portions and authentic preparation of the dishes. Especially good are the snapper and enchiladas. Early negative reviews complained of spotty service but they seem to have worked that out because we've been seated promptly and served well.

Yelp
Fish ceviche excellent Combo: steak chicken shrimp and cheese...steak and chicken over cooked and dry, not very well seasoned Service was excellent Beautiful decor

Yelp
The ambiance of this place is truly beautiful and vibrant and the host was very welcoming when entering!! After sitting at the bar with a friend I wasn't tended to by the bartender for a while. I mispronounced a drink I had ordered the bartender rudely said I wasn't pronouncing "Guava" right in a very rude and sarcastic tone as English is my first language & I'm not Hispanic. After this interaction he kept giving me dirty looks while making our drinks and rolling his eyes numerous times looking directly at me. After this he offered my friend and others sitting at the bar free margaritas as he excluded from giving me on. I wasn't even interested in trying food at this point because I was disappointed with the service and treatment!! Overall I was VERY disappointed with the service of this place as I live in the neighborhood & looked forward to bringing many people to this beautiful restaurant. I will not be returning :-(

Yelp
My friend was in town from Florida so I decided to try the new restaurant Casa Tulum in my neighborhood. It was busy when we arrived, which is always a good sign. We wanted to wait for a table so we sat at the bar; it was not a long wait, but this perhaps caused some confusion for the waitstaff. Our cocktails (which were delicious!) took a long time to be delivered to our table. Once we placed our order (appetizer and two meals) we chatted and chatted....and chatted. 40 minutes later I wondered where our appetizer was.... the waiter didn't provide an explanation but did say it would come after our meal and did we still want it. We did. We also asked for flour tortillas that never came. Our meals were DELICIOUS. I was happy I chose the chicken mole; it did not disappoint. We were both pleased the with taste and the staff was apologetic and sweet. If you would like a tasty meal, I would definitely recommend. The slightly slow service may have been an off night.

BriElle B.

Yelp
Great food. Great atmosphere. So happy to have a place like this in the south loop. Great Service!

Betsy K.

Yelp
An excellent addition to the South Loop! I made an impromptu visit this week, the decor is beautiful and inviting, the Latin music was upbeat and at perfect volume, not loud as other restaurant, which is perfect for conversation whether with a group of friends or a date. I sat at the bar and the bartender was super nice and attentive. I started with a margarita which was perfectly mixed. My meal consisted of a delicious ceviche followed by the Tulum Special, a bed of rice with grilled chicken, steak, shrimp, onion, bell pepper, cheese sauce, and it was out of this world, flavorful and delicious, and very generous portions! I had a conversation with another guest at the bar and she raved about the Red Snapper and Tampiquena, I will try both on my next visit. I did not have dessert, as I opted to drink my dessert, another margarita :) Overall, it is a wonderful new place in SoLoop, friendly and cozy atmosphere, friendly service, excellent and flavorful Mexican food, and take this review seriously as I am Mexican and I KNOW good Mexican food! I highly recommend it, and this will be in my "SoLoop Favs" restaurant rotation!!

Yelp
We dined at Casa Tulum with friends for dinner and it far exceeded all of our expectations! Our friends had heard others rave about it, but we were skeptical until our food arrived! The portions are huge and delicious! Our friends had the beef and shrimp fajitas and ended up taking some home! We had the carnitas tacos and chicken mole...one of the best mole sauces I've had! Our waitress was wonderful as were the rest of the staff. The ambience is very cool too. They did a great job! I don't know why they don't list alcoholic drinks on their website because they are unique and delicious! We've found our new go-to place in the Sloop!!

Yelp
Food was too salty and greasy. Great ambience and service. Was really hoping for a nice neighborhood place

Yelp
AMAZING! We visited on February 1st, the day they opened, and it also happened to be my son's 13th birthday. He was craving Mexican food, and luckily, this place was within walking distance. Let me just say... this is hands down the best Mexican spot around. We usually go to La Cantina in the area, but this place beats it in every way--from the dining experience to the quality of the food. My mother-in-law was with us, and she's usually quick to criticize any place we go, but she only had great things to say about this one. Here's what stood out: 1.The tortillas were out of this world. You can tell they're homemade! 2.The steak (according to my family) was top-notch, with rich, delicious flavor. 3. The guacamole was fantastic, though I'd recommend asking for it spicy next time. 4. The mocktails were so good, I didn't even miss the alcohol. I had the mango one, and it was refreshing! 5. The rice and beans had such a unique flavor that made us want to keep going back for more. 6. Since it was my son's birthday, they gave him a leche cake that we couldn't stop eating. It was perfectly moist, not too sweet, and practically melted in your mouth. Highly recommend! 7. As a vegetarian, I was really happy to find many options. I ordered the fajitas, and I was so pleased with the variety and freshness of the veggies--they were delicious! My husband ordered the pork tacos (I'm not sure which ones exactly), but he was literally licking his fingers--they were that good! Overall, I'm thrilled to have this place in the neighborhood. What a great addition!

Yelp
OK, I have tried the new Casa Tulum, and initially I was very pleased. I had only dropped in for cocktail and I sat at the bar and the young lady at the bar was very personable. She was very attentive. It was a great first. Impression. I went down a second time it's in the lower level of the condominium I live in the second time was just as nice attentive, good conversation and I guess cause it was the bar and it wasn't. You know many people at the bar I went in last night a Thursday night and I dined in and it was not the same as sitting at the bar. The waitress was not attentive. She did not check on us. We had to ask other staff members to assist us in the restaurant wasn't crowded so I wasn't sure what the delay was from. She brought us the wrong drink out and as far as the food, the guacamole was good the salsa the first one they brought out it was in a small cup. It was OK ,we asked for more because it was so small. I'm gonna post pictures. It was so small that for one person maybe but definitely not for two. The second one they brought out it was like they boiled it. It was scalding hot. I don't know what changed the temperature because the other one was cold versus that one coming out hot. I had the ribeye steak tacos and they were very they were chewy. The cut of the tortilla was cute .with the food the tacos. I will give it a three out if ten the guacamole one out of 10 I will give it a five. The chips a 4 . for the ambience eight because it's very pretty inside but overall the service was not good. They need to speed it up and get the accuracy of the orders down. Will I try it again perhaps just to see if things change as far as the Service I still tip the young lady 18% although she did not deserve it because she was not attentive. I asked her whatever I asked her for like I asked for a second thought I had asked five times and each time she walked by she never had the salsa with the drink we asked for a passionfruit. She brought us out a plane, so it was just small things like that when I'm dining and I'm paying I'd like it to be accurate but as far as the ambience and that initial contact, it was great and if the service can reach that level, I think they will succeed (also the food was lukewarm warm not hot)

Yelp
I went 3 months ago (prior review) and food was on the salty side and there were delays in food being brought out. I went back again to try it out since reopening - I wanted to sit at bar b/c it was just me. All the bar seats were taken except one spot that wasn't really a spot - was at edge, even hostess didnt sell it. The hostess checked for me and yehp that was it. There is a front bar (all seats were open) but they don't seat people there? Was disappointed not offered a table - felt a little disappointed they couldn't accommodate me but OK it was a Friday and good for them for being busy - and note to those looking to grab a bar seat, may not work to walk in on a friday. In the end I went down the street to grab a drink and ordered takeout from Casa Tulum bc I still wanted to try them out again. They were super fast in getting my food ready - was ready when I walked in at the host stand. Got the steak fajita - was SUPER GOOD, highly recommend. A little pricey - but worth it.

Yelp
Excellent service and food came out very quickly. Had the quesabirrilla and it was very good. The Queso Fundido is a perfect starter as well. Definitely will come back. Awesome to see a fun, high energy, and good quality restaurant in the SLOOP! One thing to improve - and this drives me nuts - take the credit card fee off the bill. CC fees are the cost of doing business. Build them into your prices if need be, don't nickel-and-dime the customer. This is why I rated 4 Stars. Please fix this - it will deter customers from coming in.
