The Best Hotels in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

"Casa Velas provides the aesthetic and feel of a gated community with the amenities and services of a luxury hotel. The property looks like an hacienda, with winding rows of pale yellow casitas housing each of the sophisticated, traditional suites. The design and decor are charmingly Mexican, with many original pieces commissioned from area artists. The energy is mellow at all hours; During the day, wellness experiences like yoga, meditation, and mixing your own herbal tea in the garden greenhouse offer a welcome change of pace from poolside lounging. In the evenings, there’s easy entertainment, including a sunset violinist and acrobatic dances to opera. It’s virtually never crowded, as even during high season occupancy hovers around 30%. It’s easy to feel like the gorgeous grounds belong to you."

14 Best All-inclusive, Adults-only Resorts in Mexico

"Elegant and secluded, Casa Velas is a classic Spanish hacienda-style resort tucked away in the exclusive Marina Vallarta community. Shrouded in gorgeous jungle greenery, the Eden-inspired resort feels like an oasis, close enough to be a stone's throw from the airport, but decidedly far enough removed. Roaming peacocks and languidly swaying palm trees set the tone for an enchanting stay. The small resort has only 80 rooms, as well as a large central swimming pool lined with cabanas. While the resort is not on the beach, guests can take a quick shuttle to Tau Beach Club, where they have preferential seating and all meals included. Guests can also take a shuttle to sibling resort, Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, for additional restaurant options and one of the best beaches in the area." - Travel + Leisure Editors

I was here for work (unfortunately). Company foot the bill so I can’t really comment on price. The resort is on golf course but not the beach. They do have a separate beach club that the shuttle will take you to. Because I was here for work I didn’t get to indulge in that service but heard it was nice. My work keeps me locked up in my room most of the day. Luckily the company I was working for splurged and got me a room with a plunge pool. What a luxury. So nice to be able to dip in that and relax after working crazy hours. I highly recommend it if you can afford it. The room was very quiet, clean and comfortable. We were here during rainy season and perhaps summer is there off season. Or it could be we just kind of took over the resort for our work. But was very peaceful. The grounds are nice to take a stroll around. They have gardens growing things they use in their kitchen. Because I was essentially stuck in my room I ordered room service every day. That would be my one “complaint” because the options were pretty limited especially for dinner. But for the most part the meals were good, nothing Earth shattering. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a marina not too far away with some shops and restaurants. The main touristy area is also a short drive. Would love to return as a tourist someday.

Loved this resort!!! Very serene, beautiful, and relaxing. We went here for our honeymoon and it was one of the best decisions we made since we really needed to decompress after our wedding. The resort was very clean. The staff was super nice and helpful. The food was amazing at this resort and I wasn't expecting it to be since most all inclusive resorts don't have good food. Definitely catered towards older couples but we didn't mind that at all since we really were searching for a relaxing stay, not a lively one! They also offered us shuttles to Velas Vallarta, the Tau Beach Club, and Grand Velas where we enjoyed meals at each of them! We're definitely considering coming here again

We had a wonderful experience. The staff was friendly, the grounds were meticulously maintained and loved the smell in the lobby and our room it may have been hibiscus. This is not the resort for you if you want a party scene or evening entertainment which is exactly what I was looking to avoid. The resort is boutique and very quiet. We enjoy the swim up pool and cabanas. No need to worry about finding one or going out first thing to place items on them to reserve a spot. There is not a beach at this resort but a quick less than 5 minute shuttle ride will get you to the beach club that is included with your stay at Casa we enjoyed the infinity pool overlooking the ocean and the service was top notch. There is a restaurant there for lunch and dinner, again all included. It’s located on a golf course which we did not visit on this trip but from what we could see it was in great shape. You can take advantage of the sister property as well and we chose to have dinner there one evening, keep in mind it is a family resort but gives you more dining options. We enjoyed our stay so much we plan to return in October.

I spent 5 days at Casa Velas in PV for my best friend’s wedding and had the most amazing stay!! One of the best things about this resort is its staff. They are above five Star all the way. From the moment we arrived, they knew all our names and were so personal and accommodating. From the drivers from the airport who took us to and from the Beach Club whenever we wanted- to the extra care when we needed to get some antibiotics and the driver took us into a pharmacy and helped translate for us to get the proper meds- to the delicious food and drinks that the staff took time to get to know what we each loved, it just was top notch service and made us feel so special. We were there during a quieter season and the pool was so lovely and relaxing. The rooms were fabulous- our shower was HUGE!! And we are already talking about going back next year with a group from the wedding to do it all over again! Special shout out to Gerardo by the pool bar for his extra care in taking care of us. We hope to see him there next year!!!!

This was a fabulous trip to Casa Velas. It is due to all the people who work at Casa Velas, every single one of them are there for you to have the best vacation. The General Manager, Enrique Sinencio was very open to listen to me regarding some things that were somewhat out of his control. He went beyond our expectations to make things right for us.|This was our fourth time to Casa Velas and the beauty of the hotel never gets old. Its so relaxing and the level of service is unbelieveable. My husband and I love it here and will continue to go back every year. In fact this year was so incredible that we wanted to stay another week but couldnt due to obligations at home. Thank you to everyone at Casa Velas for making this a great trip, until next year or maybe November!!!!! It was a wonderful vacation and cannot wait to go back. Thanks for making this trip a truly fantastic vacation. We also met some wonderful guests on this trip too which made even more special!!! Do not hesitate to book a vacation to Casa Velas in Puerto Vallarta it is simply the best!!!|

We just wrapped up the most epic and magical five-day staycation at Casa Velas in Puerto Vallarta, and I genuinely can’t say enough good things. We came for a close friend’s wedding and were lucky enough to spend it with some of our favorite people—and made new friends along the way too.||From the moment we arrived, the service was five-star all the way. Every single staff member was warm, welcoming, and incredibly genuine. They weren’t just attentive—they made you feel like you were truly cared for. But we have to give a special shout-out to Gerardo and Juan, who went above and beyond. They were absolutely exceptional and really made our entire experience unforgettable. Gerardo is a big reason why we’ve decided that Casa Velas is going to be our new annual tradition. Fatima, we miss your smile, thank you for your amazing service at every breakfast! ||The whole place felt like a dreamscape—gorgeous grounds, strong drinks, no kids, and this perfect balance of privacy and connection. It’s like you’re on your own luxurious getaway, but still somehow end up meeting amazing people at every turn.||If you’re even considering Casa Velas, just book it. Totally recommend. 10/10. Can’t wait to come back.

My husband and I visited Casa Velas for our 19th wedding anniversary. The resort exceeded our expectations in every way. From chef Irving’s (and chef Sandra’s) delicious cuisine, to the serene, beautifully maintained grounds, to the refreshing strawberry margaritas made by Ramon and served by the illustrious Uly (and Gerardo) who were so happy to serve us, to the spotless, tranquil cottage maintained by Edith, we are so sad to be back home in Los Angeles now. This vacay was truly a treat. Special thanks to Osvaldo, Omar, my Chuy Jesus, Daniel who went above and beyond to make sure our food was served hot and promptly. Special touches and kindness by the whole Casa Velas team did not go unnoticed by us. The ladies at the spa were lovely. Special thanks to Citlaly and Lourdes. We can’t wait to come back home to see these wonderful people who are now our family. We recommend this resort 1000%.

My friends and I all loved Casa Velas! Perfect for a nice, peaceful getaway. All the staff, including restaurant staff, are so friendly and excellent! Wish the pool would stay open a bit longer, but a great stay nonetheless!

Yelp
Spent five nights at Casa Velas with friends and was very impressed by the level of service. This place likely caters to an older crowd, as it is known for being an oasis of relaxation. It is adults-only and has a chill vibe. Since it's not a big hotel, you won't have to wake up extra early to secure a spot at the beach. Casa Velas is all-inclusive, but none of the meals are buffets, which makes for a more upscale experience with higher-quality food. Many of the guests were repeat visitors, with some staying for two weeks or more. The hotel itself is beautiful, but for me, the biggest draw was the attentiveness of the staff. Everyone we encountered went above and beyond to ensure that every detail was taken care of. They paid attention to our preferences and personalized our experience in remarkable ways. They suggested menu items and were quick to bring whatever we requested. At dinner, Rodolfo stood out with his flawless service and impressive talent for making the boozy flambéed coffee. His menu suggestions were spot-on as well! At the beach, Carlos was a tireless worker who anticipated our every need. After the first day, he had everything set up and ready to go, knew all of our preferences, and continually went above and beyond. Erick and the entire team at Tao Beach Club were also fantastic. On our last night, they decorated our table with a beautiful flower arrangement and surprised us with a dessert plate thanking us for visiting. Ávalos and the breakfast staff were wonderful--some of the kindest and most hardworking people you could imagine. We spent a lot of time at the pool, where Juan, Ramón, and Ulises took excellent care of us. I also used the gym and found it well-equipped. On one occasion, it had already closed for the day (after 5 PM), but they graciously opened it for me. The spa was great! I had a 50-minute Harmony massage with Lourdes, who was not only an amazing masseuse but also incredibly sweet and attentive. Our room was meticulously cleaned every day and we found little souvenirs every night which were so appreciated. At Casa Velas, you will be pampered to the extreme. Highly recommend it!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here with a day pass from Resort Pass and had such a wonderful day! They were able to store our luggage for us for the day since we were between hotels and treated us like full guests. The resort is gorgeous and feels so lovely and secluded. Their pool is massive and features a swim up bar and tons of greenery around it. We got a lovely cabana and were very comfortable. The poolside food and beverages were so good! Their cocktail menu had so many unique vacation cocktails and the nachos were some of the best I have had. The staff cared so much for our comfort and made sure we always had fresh towels and water. We truly spent about 8 hours just eating and drinking nearby and in the pool and never wanted to leave!

Yelp
Shhh, don't tell everyone that Casa Velas is an amazing place (I want it all to myself!) I love Casa Velas for many reasons, but the things I like best... It's quiet & relaxing Service is personalized and outstanding Tau Beach Club is next level amazing Food and drink are high quality Hacienda architecture feels like classic Mexico, love it! Lush grounds are very tropical and tranquil Well appointed gym to sweat off the delicious food and drink Rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet Boutique shop onsite for high quality goods (some gorgeous Hecho en Mexico items) If you like... Party nightlife Raucous daytime pool activities Drinking games Kids 30-story high rises lined up next to each other Incessant timeshare sales pitches Loud, thumping, annoying music Resort games & activities Buffet slop food ...then you will not like Casa Velas as it has none of these annoying things. Interestingly, I met several people over the course of my 10-day stay, but it took seeing them multiples time before they engaged. It was like an unwritten code: If you're low-key and chill, eventually we will become friends. And many of the people had been to CV several times before, "It's just a special place; a great place to relax and enjoy time away in a serene setting" was the shared sentiment. Puerto Vallarta is a cool place, but can be overwhelmingly touristy. Casa Velas is a protected oasis to vacation, launch from to explore the vibrance of PV and retreat back when it's time to rest and hide from the world. Truly one of my all-time favs, 5 stars.

Yelp
We recently stayed at Casa Velas and would highly recommend the property (stayed 3/13 - 3/16). Casa Velas delivers an intimate feel with everything you need to enjoy a quiet and high level experience. The food and drinks are delicious with either Emilio's or the pool being options (other than room service. Mid to high tier spirits are another great feature not found in lower tier all-inclusive properties. The real heart of Casa Velas are the people. My wife and I could not have been happier with the fantastic people that make the stay a true pleasure. In all facets of our stay the people were the highlight. Reception, Spa, Emilio's and the pool all had warm smiles and genuine interest in ensuring our stay was above expectations! To Ramon, Ulises and Juan, massive thanks for making our time at the pool feel like familia. These guys were always smiling, making fantastic recommendations and never let your cup run dry. Literally the best service my wife and I have had, perhaps ever, from the entire pool team. Ramon, Juan and Ulises truly made our stay exceptional! Tau Beach club is also a great perk to explore if you want a different vibe than the pool on site. It is a quick drive and Edie was always ready to get you where you needed to be (Edie is another great addition to the staff! We dined at the beach club for a beautiful sunset meal and were fortunate to have Chef Diego Guerrero Lopez of Makal (located in old town across from Muertos Brewing) leading the dinner service. Amazing food over a multi-course meal (Highly recommend Makal as well). Alejandro (Erik) was a fantastic server who ensured our time at Tau was a great one! The rooms were clean and our suite was spacious. The plunge pool was a nice touch although we didn't use it much given the cooler temps this time of year. Overall Casa Velas provided an exceptional and intimate experience. The people, the property and Puerto Vallarta herself were the perfect retreat for a short holiday. We look forward to staying again in the future! Thank you Casa Velas!

Yelp
Adjusted review. As we were leaving, management resolved the issues we had. This is a Fobes celebrated and awarded resort. The good things were the suites, the grounds are breathe taking and the employees are super nice. The swim up bar is fun and the bartenders are nice. The spa is a must visit. You get a room credit, so we went twice. The 80 min massage is amazing. The boutique is wayyyyyy over priced but it's a resort so it was expected. You'll see. The live music is at 7pm not 5pm so don't miss the duo, theyre good. The saxophone player is great. He played during breakfast. The turn down service is nice touch. We were thinking of coming for every anniversary. It's very quiet, lots of older people here. The vibe is quiet, peaceful, beautiful and relaxing. Everyone should visit this place. Just make sure you use the white vans to go betweenproperties, no taxi unless you confirm that it covered by the hotel..

Yelp
We had an amazing time staying at the Casa Velas Resort! The staff were truly top of the line and provided great service each and every day. We are new to All Inclusive Resort life but Casa Velas has set the very high bar. Our room was lovely with a nice view and cute patio. We were staying here during Hurricane Roslyn and the staff were very communicative with us and were so quick to get the resort back up and running after the storm. The resort is aimed at the golf crowd, and is pretty quiet. We were some of the youngest people there but we purposely sought out an adults only, all inclusive experience that was more relaxing than party. We want to give special shoutouts to the following staff members who went above and beyond for us: Gerardo - Our guy at Emilianos and daytime at the Palapa swim up bar. You were so kind and helpful, and we appreciate your offer to bring us the best tacos you knew, we'll take you up on that next time. Cesar, Jesus, and Oscar - the best servers at Emilianos. Great service and always friendly. Martin - our evening doorman who was very friendly and gave us so many great recommendations, we will back my friend! Ricardo (concierge) - our concierge who just handled anything and everything efficiently and with a smile. Thank you for all your help Ricardo and for answering all my emails! Armando and Antonio - always there to help at the front door, and always on point. Veronica and Alan - thank you for all your help at the spa and arranging special services for us. Andrea - the controller of who goes in and comes out of the resort. So friendly and great at keeping track of all the things. Also, to our server Francisco - at the Piaf at Grand Velas (the sister resort) - thank you for providing a great experience - we loved it! We hope to be back soon to visit again and would happily recommend to others.

Yelp
What an excellent experience at Casa Velas! The grounds were impeccable. The rooms were clean, well-equipped and comfortable. The food at all locations, including Emiliano, the restaurants at Velas Vallarta, poolside at Casa Velas, and at the Tau beach club was fantastic. Housekeeping was excellent and timely. But what most stood out was the impeccable and above-board service provided by the staff. I have never felt more looked-after and appreciated at a resort than I was here. I would return here in a heartbeat as a result and would heartily recommend Casa Velas to anyone as a result. Specifically, Sergio and Nolberto at check-in and concierge, Daniel and Jesus at food service/Emiliano's, and Ulises at poolside, provided prompt, attentive, and exemplary service. The work provided by those staff members went a long way to making the stay simply wonderful. One small critique. During one of our days there, the Tau beach club was unavailable for use due to it being rented out for a private event. Use of this club is included in the all-inclusive fee. If its use is not going to be available for guests, then alternate activities or incentives should be provided to compensate. Despite that small criticism, our stay there was fantastic and we hope to return some day.

Yelp
Absolutely superb and exclusive feeling all inclusive resort. We had 2 days at Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta, and we couldn't get a 3rd night with points. I was able to find this nifty spot and blown away. 1. Emilio restaurant gives you a classy feel of Paris. 2. Playa club has amazing bartenders that really care and make drinks with real fruit, not juice syrup. 3. Very tropical feel 4. Private concierge 5. Check in and out at any time We will definitely come back again. I wish we booked here all 3 of our nights!

Yelp
Second time to Casa Velas and it was just as lovely as remembered. The best thing about casa velas is the staff! Their attention to detail and friendliness is unlike any other resort I have experienced. If you are looking for a relaxing resort with attention to detail this is your place. -5 minutes from airport -awesome breakfast -lunch menu is different at beach club, pool, and restaurant on property so you should be able to find something you like. My favorite lunch menu is the pool -dinner is lacking in flavor and options. I recommended to go to grand velas one night for dinner -10 minute walk to marina where there r fun shops and restaurants

Suzanne W.

Yelp
Husband and I spent our 10th wedding anniversary here and we were treated like royalty! With this all inclusive resort, you definitely get your moneys worth! The food and service was top notch and the landscaping was breathless! Everyone remembered our names and they were at our service 24/7! Anything we wanted, they accommodated! If you are looking where to stay for a very rewarding, relaxing and spoiled experience, THIS IS THE PLACE!

Yelp
We decided to travel back to Casa Velas after one of the concierges online gave us an incredible deal that included an upgrade to a suite, dinner at one of the Grand Velas Nayarit restaurants (we chose Sen Lin - which was fabulous! - transportation included!) and other perks. My husband and I felt like hotel management took my feedback in my prior review personally to make changes to the few little issues I noted that made me rate the resort 4 stars vs. 5. All I can say is WOW. They are now 5 stars in every way. What a wonderful experience this time, from the events offered - kundalini yoga and meditative healing, to upgraded food choices that were just wonderful, to mariachi bands playing beautiful music each night, to tequila, craft beer, and cocktail tastings. A new addition was the vegetarian/vegan menu with choices like squash blossom soup and vegan pozole, to coconut pudding to name just a few of the many choices. We ordered from the room service menu the first night and was pleasantly surprised at the expanded menu! The staff is hands down the best there is. They always greeted us with a smile, offering turn down service each night with little surprises that changed nightly (individually wrapped Mexican candies and platters of chocolates), replenishing snacks and drinks daily, and keeping our room spotless. The private Beach Club was still a standout, amazing food, heated pool on the sand, refills of champagne without asking...amazing. And the drivers who take you back and fourth are so wonderful. I thought the Four Seasons was the only hotel where we would be given this kind of treatment by the pool, but a spa moment? This was a first. Adriana gave me one of the best mini massages by the pool that was so good that I booked an appointment with her at the spa and it was just incredible. She made sure I was comfortable from start to finish, letting me choose the types of aromatics to use - rosemary, lavender, mint- and even checking on me several times after the massage when I went to the sauna, bringing me tea and cookies and making sure I had everything I needed. I'm also a very picky LA woman when it comes to having my hair blow dried but decided to give the salon at Casa Velas a chance. Imelda was fabulous. I showed her a photo of what my hair usually looks like and she told me she was there to make me happy, and she did. My hair looked perfect! She was so sweet and so accommodating. I wrote down both of their names so that I can book when we return. To the incredible staff at Casa Velas - my husband and I can't wait to come back and thank you for making our vacation one of the most relaxing ever. See you soon!

Yelp
This hotel is located on the golf course in the marina. This is an adults-only hotel. It was an all inclusive stay (does not include golf). The room had its own plunge pool on the patio balcony, which was nice. Pop a bottle while u take a dip, looking at palm trees. Yup, that sets the mood for holiday. I had a room on the top floor, which I would recommend for more privacy. The shower had two shower heads with a marble bench (looks like marble?). They also have a pillow menu if you're particular about your head cloud. The room isn't particularly large or grand but it was a nice room. Clean. Standard size room with king bed, seating area with a desk. No tub = no bubble bath. TV quality was not the best but I was able to watch the NBA playoffs in Spanish. They provide Loccitane toiletries, bathrobes and slippers. The robes fit but were on the smaller side and I'm not a big person. A safe is also available in the room. They offer around the clock room service and a mini bar in the room, included with the stay. Wifi is available at the poolside and in the room under two different connections. Switch connections for a strong signal. The restaurant was nice, like a multi tiered solarium. You get a view of the pool. Birds chirping during breakfast when you sit outside. The food was good and they have a changing dinner theme everyday. When I say good, I don't mean Michelin good, but I wasn't disappointed. Service was excellent. Live music with dinner daily. Has a romantic ambiance. Dress appropriately. They have a beach club to which they will shuttle you, if you want to enjoy the beach. Cocktails and food under your cabana on the beach. The beach club also has a restaurant. The sunset dinner overlooking the beach was memorable, and mariachi was the live entertainment that night. The hotel has a cocktail gathering every evening such as margaritas night or wine and cheese night at 6pm. They offer yoga twice a week in the morning. I wanted to participate but I didn't have time. The pool has a bar with stools submerged in water. Pretty cool. Drinks are included with the stay but I don't drink that much so I can't comment on the quality of the cocktails. Decent wine choices. Peacocks and turtles are a nice touch on the property. You can feed them too! Just ask! Overall, I had a great time! I didnt spend my entire vacation inside the hotel so maybe I didn't spend enough hours there to find something to complain about. But then again I'm pretty relaxed/easy going. The staff tries to remember your name and they are bilingual in English/Spanish. The staff made me feel like an important guest. Truely had a wonderful time! Pearls of wisdom: The taxis don't have a meter. Confirm the price at the start of the ride. Hotel does not have a complimentary shuttle to the airport. Hotel currency exchange rate was better than the airport. They have a green juice, and it was delicious! I scheduled my green juiced to be delivered at 7am as a wake up call. Great way to start your day!

Yelp
- Amazing place to relax - Very quiet, no children(!) - Staff is amazing - Food is pretty good - Loved their breakfasts - Great alcohol - Not on a beach but easy and quick access to one - Highly recommended - Take Uber from the airport (about ~$2) no need to pay for transport service My wife and I decided to spoil ourselves and took a whole Christmas week in this hotel in their "wellness suite." It was worth every penny. From the first moment, you are treated like royalty. From the reception desk to the concierge (Gabriel is amazing) everyone is doing their best to make your vacation as pleasant as possible. When asked for specific beverages or snacks, the staff made sure that we always had those in our minibar and that just a small touch that shows how much they care about your experience. The suite is spacious and clean. There are restrooms on both floors and a jacuzzi on the second floor. The bed is big and comfortable, and the Bluetooth clock/speaker was a great touch as we could enjoy our music waking up. We couldn't use the private pool as the water was just too cold. That doesn't matter though as the main pool is excellent and there is always a room for you to sit next to it. It's a small hotel (80 rooms I believe), and on the busiest of days, while we were there, there were no more than 3-4 couples around the pool area. Once you pick your spot around the pool, one of the waiters will approach immediately, and you can order drinks (all are great, good alcohol!) and some snacks (hamburger, hot dogs, etc.). The food is pretty good but might be the weakest point (but I'm VERY picky here). Breakfasts are great, no complaints. The dinners and lunches were slightly hit and miss and very repetitive. They do have different theme nights (we had a lobster and pasta night), and while it was good, after a few days, we got tired of the same courses. With that, I do have to say that when comparing to other (luxury or other) hotels we visited, this was still one of the best onsite restaurants we had and I'm really just being picky here - And what more, their staff shines here the most. One of the waiters, Deigo, is awesome and made us feel very warm and welcomed. I was amazed by the effort the staff made to make us feel "at home." From the first day, they all remembered our suite number and last name. Every time we visited the restaurant, they would call us by our names and continue the conversation we had the previous day -- just excellent customer service. The hotel is not located on a beach, but they have a service that takes you to one. It's a four-minute ride to their private beach with a small, heated pool. There is a bar with snacks and alcohol as well. We had a blast, and it was really difficult to leave. Hopefully, we will visit again! P.S About ten minutes walk from the hotel, there is an AMAZING steakhouse. Sonora Grill House. Go. You won't be sorry.

Yelp
We just checked out of Casa Velas. This place is amazing!! The staff make your vacation completely effortless. Everything is taken of for you and they anticipate your every need. Casa Velas is a peaceful and quiet place. There were times we didn't even know there were really other people staying at the hotel. The staff knew our names when we arrived and everywhere went went including the beach club. The food was fantastic as well!! In addition they made our sight seeing in Puerto Vallarta most enjoyable. We will be returning; it was a tremendous experience!

Yelp
This hotel was booked for 4 adults with 2 rooms as per our reservation for 2 grand class plus suites.. When we arrived we were told that we had been upgraded to one suite with two rooms.. We were taken to the "suite" and were told it was a very nice room.. Only one problem.. it was 1 king bed and 2 twin beds. If you pay almost $8,000 for 4 adults you expect better service then this. It was actually a downgrade. We returned to the lobby and explained to the management that this is not what we payed for and it was also not what the reservation stated.. So we spent 2 hours in the lobby while it was sorted out.. Basically the hotel management decided that because it was booked under one booking online that they took the liberty to move the entire party into one suite to save on cost. This is not how I wanted to spend my vacation.. arguing with staff about our rooms .. Not sure if I would recommend this hotel.. I definitely don't see myself coming back..

Yelp
My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Casa Velas and couldn't have dreamed up a better vacation! It was incredibly relaxing and fun at the same time. Every single person who works at Casa Velas made our stay incredible. From Enrique and Benny at the Beach Club to our driver Armando to the bartenders Carlos, Ramon, and Eduardo, we felt like royalty and truly became friends with everyone! The massages were absolutely incredible. Highly recommend a deep tissue massage with Yolanda! We enjoyed every meal, and especially the breakfast buffet! The overall atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for and we will definitely be back.

Yelp
It was great to see one of our favorite vacation spots be almost back to normal following the pandemic. If you are looking for a resort that brings you relaxation and a mellow atmosphere just to get away from your reality then you need to look no further. When you visit Casa Velas you will escape reality and enjoy the calm sounds of wildlife, no screaming children, the waves breaking on the beach at Tao Beach Club, and unmatched hospitality. My wife and I have been fortunate enough to travel the world and have stayed at some sensational resorts; but none where we have created a connection with the staff from remembering our names, to our drinks, to us in general each time we arrive. I would say we have the same feeling for them too. If you get bored easily and you're looking for a resort with big nightlife and entertainment then this isn't your resort. This is for those that need a break from the "crazy" that may exist in their nine to five. A special shoutout to Antonio at the front desk who made our experience even better, Alondra the concierge, Nolberto who drove us to the Beach Club on many occasions, Sabino, Benny, and Enrique at the Beach Club, Issac at Vellas Vallarta (yes because you can eat at that resort as well), Francisco at Piaf at Grand Vellas (yes you get to eat there too) and Alfredo who took great care of us at the hotel restaurant each morning.

Yelp
We absolutely LOVE Casa Velas! The atmosphere, the staff the food, the drinks...are all perfect for a very relaxing vacation. The rooms are beautiful! And everything you need is right at your fingertips! We really love the Beach Club, during the day, and for dinner! We have stayed here 4 times and look forward to going back every year. If you want to relax, and get spoiled, Casa Velas is the place to go!

Yelp
Stayed here in 2010. Still memorable. Beautiful rooms. Spacious finely appointed. Perfect maid service. 24 hr room service. Close to the airport 3 minute taxi ride. On a golf course which they own. Reduced green fees for guests. Beach is 5 streets away. Beach privileges at the sister resort. All inclusive package serves delicious meals. All are sit down, waiter service, white linen, candlelight dinners. No buffet. Each meal has a menu with several selections. No bathing suits / tank tops in the dining room. Greeted by your name with formality, "good morning Mr & Mrs...." Alcohols are premium quality. This is a smaller resort that hosts a more refined clientele. Pace of life is slower. Very relaxing ambience. Quiet. No boisterous guests. If you seek a party hardy loud scene, this ain't it. You'll be treated like royalty.

Yelp
Nice hotel, and it's a solid Mexican 5 star. The rooms need some renovating and are lacking in some more furniture for storing clothes and art on the walls. Now for the good part. The food for Mexico is amazing. It makes me want to never go to an all inclusive buffet again. Table service and high quality food is where it's at. If you are a beach fanatic and need the beach at your door, this place isn't for you. But if you prefer a quiet, adults only resort that doesn't have screaming kids and you don't mind the 2 minute shuttle to the beach club, give this hotel a shot.

Yelp
My wife and I rarely go back to the same hotel, once we have visited. But we are 100% coming back to Casa Velas! Our stay couldn't have been more perfect. We were planning when we can come back before we had even left.

Yelp
Outstanding. Casa Velas is the best all inclusive resort I've experienced. The staff is kind and helpful. The grounds are lush and green, and the suites are large, clean and beautifully designed. At night the only sounds I hear are the native wildlife. There is a lovely, large, warm pool with swim up bar. And you needn't rush out early to reserve a lounge chair or cabana. The food was the best we had our entire weeklong stay. You can dine other places, but it won't compare to what the restaurant at Casa Velas provides. Casa Velas is a civilized and elegant, and I intend to return.

Yelp
Let me begin by saying, I read the reviews on here after my visit, and was shocked! I expected them to be far better than they were. My boyfriend surprised me with a trip for 5 days, 4 nights to casa velas. When he first told me it was all inclusive, I got very nervous. In the nicest way possible, my boyfriend is a king and diva, but as he should be. I was nervous he'd hate it, but he assured me he read the trip advisor reviews and "did his research". I loved how close it is to the airport, but you don't feel like you are close. Very very quiet resort. I don't know if it was extra quiet because we went the Sunday - Thursday before Memorial Day weekend, but I almost felt like we were the only people at the resort. Overall, I think we only did see 20-30 people total while we were there. We went with one other couple and we both stayed in grand suite rooms. They were on the bottom floor and got a big pool, while we were on the third floor and got a "soaking tub". Small, but no biggie. Rooms are nothing too fancy, but comfortable beds and spacious rooms. Shower amenities are nice and above average. The service was amazing!!!!! The last trip we went on, we stayed at the Andaz resort in Costa Rica, which was by far more pricy, but the service at casa velas was wayyyyy better. Coming from Las Vegas, we are divas when it comes to a nice meal and we were very satisfied with the selection and the quality. Lots of seafood options. I recommend going to the beach club and eating dinner there. Small, intimate and great place to watch the sunset. My boyfriend and I both agreed that we would love to go back sometimes, since it was great service, food and overall a great value.

Yelp
This was the first time for me at an all inclusive resort. From what I was told by the people that frequent Casa Velas, it is not the norm. Originally, I planned to eat breakfast and hit the town, but found that the food was so delicious, and the pool bartender's, Oscar, drinks were better than any drinks any where in town that they made it very comfortable and relaxing to stay at the resort or beach club. They were very accommodating for anything and gave great suggestions on places to see and go. Amazing staff and the most amazing food! If you want the easiest carefree relaxing getaway, this is the place to go. You won't be disappointed. Side note: the peacocks are beautiful, but do make quite a bit of noise (like a cat in heat), so if noise like that bothers you, you may want to bring earplugs.

Yelp
We came here for 2 nights after the Velas Vallarta and were expecting an enhanced experience as it is officially rated as 5 stars with 4 diamond award from aaa. Its also an adult only, adults considered 16 and older. First the positives. The beach house is amazing! Its a short shuttle ride from Casa Velas to almost next to Velas Vallarta from the beach house. If you are registered at Casa you can go to Velas Vallarta but not vice versa. The pool is beautiful with an infinity edge ruined only slightly by the cabanas in the sand below within the line of sight. The food is asian inspired and delicious! Had the red snapper with a peach bbq sauce and bacon wrapped shrimp that were huge and cooked perfectly. The staff is pretty good about getting around to see to guests needs. At 6 the pool closes for dinner service which has a dress code so remember to bring pants as one guest did not so was limited to Velas Vallarta. Now the negative. .the bathroom was beautiful with a great jacuzzi tub / shower in a marble ensconsment. . That did NOT have hot water! Very unpleasant for showers, bath, or jacuzzi. The water pressure seemed weak too. To be fair we spoke to others staying there and they said they did not have similar problems. The room tv was very small with an even worse picture and reception than Velas Vallarta. The small refrigerator was not strong enough to adequately chill the drinks in there. You had to pick only the ones in the rear right against the cooling element. There was also some mold in it Room service was great! No problems with lukewarm food. The crown jewel restaurant of emiliana however was a HUGE disappointment. The crabcake appetizer had shells in it. The salmon was rare. I understand many people are starting to enjoy fish rare and medium rare but we prefer ours at least medium to medium well. It would have been nice to be asked for a doneness with the salmon. Conversely, the ribeye steak was not cooked to the requested medium rare and was a disappointing medium, medium well. The creme brulee was a huge disappointment tasting grainy and not properly set which is sad for a French inspired restuarant. The next day when we ordered breakfast we ordered everything as is except I specifically requested the toast be toasted longer so it was well, toasty. What's the one item we did not receive with the meal? The toast! Minor yes but both during the previous nights meal and this am the staff was pretty unapologetic and indifferent seeming. Not the kind of service I would expect from 5 stars. As we were leaving for our supposedly free transfer from Casa Velas to the Grand Velas I grabbed an apple and the inside was rotten! When we got to the Grand Velas I was planning on tipping the driver but he told me it would be 40 pesos which we were not advised of and afterwards were told should not have been asked for. So in effect, we were robbed! Unless you desperately need to have an adults only hotel I would not recommend the Casa Velas at all!

Yelp
I have an immense fondness for boutique hotels, much to the chagrin of my boyfriend, as they tend to be pricey--but the service is generally stellar. This was not the case with Casa Velas. The hotel grounds are very lush and quite beautifully landscaped with very green lawns and dotted with splashes of vibrant bougainvilleas. There is a muster of peacocks and peahens, which made the grounds look even more like paradise (I want one!) The exterior of the building next to our suite was peeling and needed repair. For the rooms, they were small and in need of renovation. The TV did not work and the internet was spotty. Our room only had beer (yuck, not a beer drinker) and soft drinks. If one wanted wine or liquor one had to go to the bar or order room service. I was afraid to sit in the jacuzzi tub because it looked like it was 100 years old. I did like the l'occitaine toiletries, I gotta say. The pool on the balcony was very cold and we asked to have it heated up several times and every time a maintenance man looked at it he said it would be hot in 10 minutes. NOT :-(! The last day, when we returned to our room from breakfast, I noticed rat droppings everywhere (OMG!!) Gross!! Even more horrifying small pools of blood. It was as if a rat or rats were hemorrhaging and pooping everywhere! We still had to pack and I was so petrified that a rabid rat was going run out from its hiding place and attack me. Inside of my big rattan purse I noticed that a rat had chewed up my book, pooped and bled all over the items in the purse. Totally nasty!! Emilianos was definitely not a 5 star restaurant. The food was just meh. Usually lukewarm and uninspiring. Service spotty, but the waiters were very, very friendly and congenial. You had to wait a thousand years to be waited on at the pool. We ordered a hamburger and fries and asked for ketchup. Never received the ketchup and the waiter vanished until we were ready to leave. I have to say in all fairness that Luis, the concierge was over-the-top with helping us book restaurants and excursions. He really needs a raise. We feel we were totally ripped off!!!!

Yelp
My Husband and I stayed at Casa Velas the first week of June this year for our Honeymoon. Neither of us had been to Mexico let alone an All Inclusive package. Before our departure several people had warned us in regards to using an all-inclusive package and the cons associated with it. We purchased our package from Costco Travel and we were excited for the adventure regardless of what others had experienced on their own vacations. Mexico is very hectic. Best advice for any new travelers, don't be rude, but get outside as quick as possible - politely decline anyone that is trying to speak with you about anything. Those time share salesman are sharks and can tell you don't know what you're doing! Outside you will see your actual ride accommodations and taxis. The resort has great security and the guards keep track of you leaving and returning. Casa Velas is extremely beautiful. It is located on a golf course with a botanical garden and the rooms are very spacious. It's hard to describe the experience we had here, but I can say I will never forget it. It by far exceeded any and all expectations we had for this trip and we are planning on returning this coming winter. The restaurant Emiliano is located at the resort and it is fabulous. There are so many options to choose from and order as much as you'd like! This is a very upscale dining experience and there is a dress code for men but well worth it. It is located right next to a pond and they provide different types of entertainment like a live piano player, singer, or mariachi band and dancers. There are nightly activities and events that are held such as painting, poker night, and cigar night. I am sure we went at the perfect time but it was extremely laid back and no pressure. Very quiet and relaxing and by far the most accommodating service staff that I have ever experienced. I have experienced great customer service but this was on a completely different level. The staff at Casa Velas was genuine and sincerely desired to make your stay the best possible. I don't know how they recruit, but they have done an excellent job and created a culture that far surpasses anything that I have ever experienced. All of it was amazing but I do suggest going to the pool and having a snack. Their drinks are great and the snacks are pretty much full sized meals made to perfection! If you have time also try visiting the other hotel located on the beach Velas Vallarta. This is a family resort so the atmosphere is a bit different but still awesome. The Beach Club restaurant is a small and intimate dining experience offered and if you have the time definitely do it! All in all, I will say, if I am going to Mexico the only place I would ever stay is Casa Velas or the Velas chain. Well worth the time spent researching and an experience I will never forget!

Yelp
This place is amazing. The staff is so attentive and you pretty much have your own personal assistants at all time. You can visit the sister resorts (those are kid inclusive) so you can go see the hustle and bustle while also having a VIP seclusive experience. Definitely do the Piaf restaurant at Gran Velas and use the Beach Club. Our favorite staff were Maya, Cesar, Victor and Jose. The concierge and drivers were also amazing. Thanks for making our anniversary so special.

Yelp
I recently stayed at this hotel with my boyfriend and 2 friends of mine. We had a wonderful time. You never know what you are going to get with an all inclusive as far as food and drinks go but Casa Velas did not disappoint. They greeted us with a warm welcome and even gave us neck massages during check in. The food was awesome and the alcohol was great. It was the "rainy" season so the hotel was not booked which was perfect for us. It was so peaceful laying out by the pool and the service was impeccable. It was fun to see the peacocks that roam around the property. The staff is all so welcoming and friendly. Ricardo was great by the pool and Jorge was the friendliest door man. They were able to book tours for us which as a lot of fun. I recommend Rhythms of the Night. They take you on a sunset cruise to a private island and there is a show to watch along with dinner and all you can drink included. One of the nice things about Casa Velas is that there are 2 other sister properties that you can eat at as well if you want to mix it up a bit which are part of the all inclusive deal. I recommend checking out the La Ribera steakhouse at Vellas Vallarte which is on the beach and nice to see the water during dinner. The beach club is great at Casa Velas. There is a nice pool as well as cabanas you can use. Overall we had a great time at this hotel and I highly recommend it to anyone. The service couldn't have been better along with the food and spa. I will definitely go back in the future.

Yelp
My wife and I were very happy with our stay. Overall an excellent experience. The service was a bit inconsistent, for what I suspect is a little lack of formalities more than anything else. But the staff was always professional and courteous, and the properties quite beautiful. The Emiliano restaurant was amazing, the Beach Club everything we hoped it would be, and the unique daily activities kept things fresh with options (martini night, margarita night, etc). It's a great adults-only getaway!

Yelp
This hotel is AMAZING! The grounds are beautiful, the rooms filled with many amenities, and the staff so gracious. They can't seem to do enough for their guests. Everyone has a smile on and works hard to ensure your stay is the best. The food is great and I would highly suggest going to their beach club. Right on the ocean with a wait staff to prepare food and drinks whenever you like. Anything you could want or need is right there in a very intimate setting. At the hotel, check out unlimited drinks at the swim up bar! I would go as far to say I would not return to Puerto Vallarta and stay anywhere else but Casa Velas. The menus at the restaurant are varied and the food very good. The plate presentation for every entrée is eye appealing. They will do whatever they can to accommodate your food requests. Every variety of beverage is offered and prepared with a smile. They have special food theme events and other entertainment, such as casino night, to add to your enjoyment. We happen to be there when Hurricane Patricia hit. I can only say I am very humbled by the manner in which we were treated; like family. They put our safety and comfort before theirs. We were first evacuated to their sister hotel where they had cots set up for us along with plenty of food, games, and a movie screen. Later, due to a reassessment of the severity of the situation, were moved to the Puerto Vallarta University. They had a doctor there for us, returned to the hotel in the inclement weather to prepare food and brought it back to the University along with water to make sure we were not hungry. They kept us calm and informed all during this crisis. Even though the storm was not their fault upon checking out we were provided compensation for the unfortunate situation. MORE than gracious and something we did not expect. I can't begin to say enough about this resort, their staff, and their management. PLEASE do not stay anywhere else when visiting Puerto Vallarta. You will be happy you stayed at Casa Velas.

Yelp
Undercooked food at Christmas Eve dinner after a 45 minute wait for first course. Private soaking pool dirty when we arrived. Limited wine selection despite being promised "anything" with all-inclusive package. This is supposedly the high season....

Yelp
This has got to be one of the most unprofessional establishment I've ever dealt with. I have dumped several thousand of dollars into a timeshare here. Only to have to deal with no return phone calls and/ or emails. They send overdue billing statements when I've submitted the payments prior to due date. I've spent the last three days call their office only to be told their not in yet, there out to lunch or gone for the day.... and numerous no answer attempts. Today, Instead of taking a message I was told to call back in 20 minutes. I spoke to a Marcos Montoya who told me he was in charge but could not do anything to help. This "supervisor" also felt the need to tell me that I must be have some "life problems" because I was expressing my disappoint with their lack of professionalism. I doubt that anything will be resolved with this post as they can't even get back to me when all I am trying to do is pay the maintenance fees. Ridiculous!!!!

Yelp
My wife and I just spent seven heavenly days at Casa Velas. It was like having your own personal resort complete with chefs, butlers and waiters. Put it this way, there were 120 on staff and 30 guests at the most. You figure it out. Going in September and October is the off-season. The season apparently begins on October 25. They have eighty rooms, so even at the height of the season you are well taken care of. The staff increases up to 160. Facilities, food and drink were excellent. 70 year old tequila, Grey Goose, all top shelf stuff. We had a Grand Suite on the ground floor facing the golf course. It had a huge shower and good sized closets. The Suite was 830 square feet with a private plunge pool out the sliding doors. No kids, great staff and good food and drink make for one heck of a Holiday.

Yelp
The grounds at this small boutique all-inclusive resort are very nice. The staff is Wonderfully Friendly. The concierge, Luis, the evening poolside bartender, Benny, Edgar in Emiliano's are Terrific and all the waitstaff were so warm and welcoming. Unfortunately, we booked this hotel based on trip advisor reviews, expecting Emiliano's Restaurant to be excellent BUT it was a DISASTER. The food is mediocre and boring, and the menu does not change. There is no Front house manager properly training and supervising the waitstaff. You will wait a Very long time to get a cold, overly salted, poorly seasoned and uninspiring meal. You will wait a very long time between courses. The waitstaff is very friendly, However, in disarray. There needs to be a new manager to get the staff organized. There also needs to be a new chef. There is only one restaurant. Almost Empty every evening except for the few outside tables. We took the free shuttle over to Velas Vallarta a couple times to have dinner. Again, the very friendly service was a disaster. Very long waits for each course. The Mexican fiesta night was a large buffet which was okay. The "steakhouse restaurant" takes place outside, by the pool at the beach club. The steaks and service were good.... Only 20 people so they could handle it. There are only two waiters around the hotel pool and you will wait forever to get anything... Again cold and uninspiring. In the evening, there is a nice patio overlooking the pool, However, the air is filled with cigarette smoke and truly disgusting. The beach club is small, and thus, the service around the pool is good. Again, mediocre food. Service on the beach is poor. The TV and the Internet in the room did not work consistently. On our last day, we returned from breakfast,to find rat droppings and blood(apparently from poisoning) all over our room. The small spa on our balcony was cold. Twice we requested maintenance to warm up the spa. Twice we were almost at the spa would warm-up. It never did. Never Again.

Yelp
Read this BEFORE you book Casa Velas in PVR from someone who travels for a living too. We tried this all inclusive resort for our Christmas get away and a big mistake for the most part. The cons WAY out number the pros. I was quoted a price over the phone including all taxes and then was charged more the same day when they billed me. December 2014. I sent numerous emails about this plus asking if the so called premium liquors include what we like to drink, a scotch and gin brand, and no replies except a wine list. Glad we brought our own scotch and gin as their brands are limited in the so called premium brands all inclusive. BIG SCAM here, DO NOT use their transportation to the resort as it will cost you 20.00 A PERSON and its just a cab, and you will get the bill when you check out called misc. fees. We took a cab back to the airport for just 7.00 US. The employees are very friendly but the first night at dinner Christmas Eve was a disaster having to wait over 1 1/2 hours for the entrees to show up. Then the room keys quit working and a long walk back to the desk with no apologies. The last night was really bad too as when we made a res with the concierge days earlier for the steak house he said it would be at the beach club down the road. After getting a ride there the waiter said it had been changed back to where we just came from and had to get another ride back. The steaks are very good though IF you can determine where its at. We had to call room maintenance to fix the TV and their TVs are all the old small Phillips hotel brand with poor picture and 90 percent of the channels are all in Spanish but 90 percent of the guests are US or Canadians. The first two nights in the room had the usual Mexico stinch from the sewer gas being emitted from the AC unit Im guessing. Another couple said they had to change rooms due to the smell. In fact several guests were having their rooms changed while we were there for some reason or another. BEWARE the videos or web site pictures you see are done by a special photographer with a wide angle lens that makes the rooms appear MUCH larger than they are. They are SMALL and the pictures were taken many years ago as Csa Velas is fairly old. Casa Viejo (old house might be a better name). The videos on You Tube etc. show other Velas hotels with super clarity making you think this is what you see when you arrive. Not so. You wear an arm band for the all inclusive but are asked dozens of times what your room number is and have to sign a check everytime you dine or have drinks. The pool is huge and clean but shallow (insurance) There is NO hot tub. The spa is a joke. With a tretment you get to use the sauna and steam room which are very small with a seat for just one and the heat and steam is almost non existant. The spa hot tub did not work and no one around to help out. Here the tip is already added to your spa treatment bill too. The adults only is very quiet which is nice but the beach is a few minutes away with free rides to and from. Other than the pool bar which closes early BTW the only other bar on premise is a tiny little bar off the lobby that closes at 1am every day. The pool water is too cold for most to swim in during winter. The sister hotel nearby which is family oriented is FULL of noisey kids, cheap pool furniture and very crowded. The beach water is typical brown colored waves and not the Carribean blue you might be used to. Many parts of Mexico are known for dumping sewage into the water. Hence the brown colors. Bottom line from an experienced traveller is there are much better resorts than Casa Velas especially for what they charge!! Look elsewhere.
