After the fires, we were displaced to Glendale and wanted to check out the local library for our kids. This is the one near us. My young son accidentally forgot to return books on time and they sent our bill to collections. My credit was hit, which has the potential to mess things up even worse for us, as we try to get a loan to rebuild. This library is so heartless! Stay away.

Lighting is too harsh in the public computer area. Computers are out of date. There is no one to consult when a computer doesn't function properly. Unfriendly vibes.

Small but beautiful library with great service! I rarely go to any library anymore but when I do, I get to appreciate the hard work by the staff. This one is equally great as in all other libraries I have been to in California.

I've been meaning to do this for a while and kept putting it off or forgetting. But I am a big believer in letting people know you appreciate them and the service they provide when it's due (rather than only the negative comments, which I understand do happen as well). I'm ashamed to say I am terrible with names and should be better about making a point of this. That said... To the fantastic staff at the Casa Verdugo Library on Brand (especially the two gentlemen working the security and the two gentlemen I tend to see working the desk): You are all spectacular. I have been a regular user of the library system since my time back in Michigan ('sup, Canton Library) to my move to Glendale, CA. I highly recommend everyone who maybe under-utilizes the library or have just been away for a bit to try out this library (admittedly, I've had great experiences throughout the Glendale library system, but this is my home base and I see them weekly). And though this is not the Central Library with the large inventory, know you can get anything from the system through their website sent to this location (they are close to my home and have the hours I need) quickly. That said...the staff is what makes it. They are courteous, friendly, and make you feel welcome. It is a quiet location for those who need to work or study, and the staff as a whole is helpful through and through. My guys in security make a point to say, "Hello," and are helpful rather than intimidating (I say that only because I am a particularly tall guy who is "randomly checked" by TSA on at least one direction of each flight, despite having Global Entry--so I come from a place of appreciation of politeness rather than assumption), and I oddly look forward to seeing them even if just to exchange pleasantries. In a world where everyone wants to have the place they're known (unlike Carl's Jr. and Pizza Hut that both know me, and while I appreciate it and them, I was hoping more for a Cheers-like locale), I'm happy this is one of my places. It should be yours, too. XOXO, Nemo (tall dude, orange bike)

I like the small branch of Glendale Library, a clean place and quiet! Mostly of time I get books or DVD from other branch of the library and return or renew at there! The assistance are nice and helpful persons!

The library is beautiful, but the attendants keep speaking loudly between themselves (library’s are supposed to be quiet!!!!!!), witch is extremely annoying if you trying to read or study.

Yelp
A small but nice library for kids. Kids' stools and angled table available for propping up their books while they read. I thought that was pretty neat! Wonderful kids' programs here. We came for a creative stop motion animation Lego event and there was a big turnout. Luckily we got there on time and snagged seats. People had to be turned away due to the limited space and supplies. Tiniest outdoor parking lot behind the library. Don't even bother finding parking there...just park on the street!

Yelp
Great little library with a decent kids section. The staff was so welcoming when they opened back up post covid shut downs.

Yelp
Came here to get some work done. Kids have been crying and screaming nonstop for an hour. Do not recommend if you're trying to focus, get work done, etc.

Yelp
Decent library, kinda small. Came here for about an hour before a doctors appt in Glendale. Got the one spot out in front. Not sure if there's a lot in the back? Library had a good number of patrons. One lady was tutoring her son and they were a bit loud. There are computers and printers but you had to have a library card.

Yelp
It is a small library, though a good site design, clean and tidy and has a very nice and peaceful environment They provide a lot of useful services someone might need. The staff are amazing. They are very helpful, super friendly, knowledgeable, patient and considerate. They offer free events and classes for children/adults. Always have new ideas to encourage children to read or develop their creativity. I am very lucky to have a library as good as this one near me. We love this library.

Yelp
This branch has a security guard now! A dude who sits on a stool near the entrance and quietly read the newspaper. He'll give you a friendly, "Hey, brother," on the way in and way out. Don't let his mild-mannered appearance fool you, though. If you try any shenanigans in the library, he will fuck you up with no remorse. All while sitting on his stool. In fact, he floats on his stool from place to place because his stool is his magical throne. It's what gives him power and authority; not his badge. Any asshole with 99 cents can go get a badge. That doesn't make you an authority figure. But a stool? In a library? Hell yeah, that's some authority right there. And the patrons know it, too. I noticed today there were markedly less homeless people inside. Related to that was less pee stench. Who knew how much more pleasant the library could be when it doesn't have pee stench? There was also less B.O. stench, which doesn't just come from homeless people but asshole who don't shower. I'm not saying the guard on his stool CAUSED less pee stench or B.O. stench, but it's certainly correlation. I was happy I could retrieve my reserved book and check it out without hassle. This is even after I forgot my library card. Well, I didn't forget it. I lost it. Ok, I didn't lose it. It broke into a million pieces. How do you break a library card into a million pieces? White powder, Las Vegas, and mirrors. Let's just leave it at that. I thought I'd have to show my ID each time to get a book--the ignominy, right?--but I didn't! The gentleman behind the counter gave me a new card! The only problem is it has a different number, which sucks because I spent so much time memorizing my old number. Oh, how you'll be missed, old number. May you rest in peace in old number heaven.

Yelp
If you have young kids they have unrealistic expectations for them at this library. They have toys, puzzles, and other activities for them but they expect them to not talk or you get warned by them, even when there are barely any adults there. I understand a library should be quiet but then you shouldn't have activities for children. One time we were there for an activity in the closed room on the side where they were blasting music for the activity, but my child still got in trouble (for talking too loudly in their opinion) even though he was quieter than the music. Go to Central Library, Library Connection, or Grandview library if you have younger kids. They are much more understanding.

Yelp
I live very close to this library so when I don't feel like making the trip down to the Central Library, I just come here. It's small -- like really small. Basically it's just one big room LOL However, they do make the most of the space they got. Since it's so small, the selection of books is pretty limited; I've gone through the entire teen section more or less LOL They've got four or five computers that you can use with a couple of tables and couches to sit and study. There is a small children's area at the back of the place, but because it's such a small space, you can hear everything. The staff are nice and friendly. There is a small 2-hour parking lot in the back, but you can also find street parking. It is located right next to the fire department and not even a street away from a Ralph's.

Yelp
Carlos Nieto is a very unique anime artist who is not strict with anyone and you can learn with him. He is very patient with the students and teaches good tips to get a good anime character. Good Glendale Libraries bring him for community. He has passion for his work. I love his art work and my daugther is learning a lot.

Yelp
This "library" has potential because of it's layout. But this is not a library. It is essentially a coffee shop without the food or coffee. The front desk employees were chatting away, oblivous of their surroundings. A woman approached one of the employees to ask a question, and they were not just not whispering, I would go so far as to say they were competing as to who could speak louder! Grrr, yes. If this is today's idea of a modern library, I am extremly disappointed. Where can we go these days to get some peace and quiet?

Yelp
Good little study place in Glendale. I was looking for a library with early hours in my neighborhood since all the closer libraries opened at 2PM. Its right next to the Fire Department, and parking is easy to find on the street. Keep in mind that most parking spots are 2 hours, so if you want to stay longer might be best to keep looking for a better spot. The library is quaint, but I easily found a spot to study. The librarians are so nice and helpful. I'm going to mimic what others are saying...support libraries! When I was younger I got so much joy from going to the library and spending hours browsing through books and reading great stories. Let's keep them open!

Yelp
The Casa Verdugo branch library is great! As much as we love the Central Library, this is a great small, local branch that has a great selection of kid's books (that's all we've gotten so far). They also have special events scheduled year-round. We've always liked the storytime they have. And they also have storytime in Armenian and Spanish! Check out http://library.ci.glendale.ca.us/CR_home.asp for their latest calendar of events.

Yelp
During the daytime this branch can get pretty noisy, and when it's hot outside it seems to be hot in there as well. They do have computers for use and lots of tables.

Yelp
If you want to actually STUDY at a library this is not the place. There are SO many distractions! I came here for the first time and definitely won't return. Great library for kids, but definitely not for adults. I had a kid practicing her Spanish for over an hour right next to me, an employee having a full on conversation with some other employee (I'm assuming) for over 10 minutes, etc. I don't get it. Is this a library or a coffee shop? Hmm...maybe it's my fault for assuming libraries should be quiet. Not returning...

Yelp
A perfectly charming little place to get some work done. Small and unassuming, it's basically just one big room. Lots of tables, half of which are reserved for students. Large selection of DVDs and popular novels, big window for natural light, spacious children's section, shared computers. Support your local library!

Nikoo S.

Yelp
This place is not a real library. Beside's its limited collection, it is more like a kindergarten/play pan for little kids and a fun place for elderly to shout and joke around, socialize, and play on computers. Do not come here if you want to study or find peace and quiet.

Yelp
A small library with a potent book selection and lots of children's books. It's kept clean and organized by the super friendly staff. Street parking for 2 hours can be a hit or miss. Reading was pleasurable under lots of natural light and an acceptable noise level considering it's right by Brand Boulevard with the Glendale Fire Department next door.

Yelp
nah.nah.nah.If you want to actually STUDY at a library this is not the place.
