I feel a real pity that I cannot give a higher rating. The “hardware”was fantastic in this hotel - the beach, the pool, beautiful rooms and amenities, but the “software” such as services were very disappointing.
To start with, I wrote them an email requesting a 4-day booking, they replied with a 3-day payment link starting 1 day later than I requested. I didn’t expect this kind of errors to happen and paid for it without much attention. We ended up arriving at the hotel one night before at 11:30pm without a room, the only thing they could give us is standard 2-bed room instead of a king, at full price. The staff did not accept their mistake neither apologized within the first hour of argument. We stayed somewhere else for the first night.
Then the first morning of our stay, we were in a wedding package so we had meals covered during the weekend. We ordered a meal each at breakfast, but the waiter brought up a bill to pay - they never explained what was inside the package or what’s not, so we unintentionally “ordered” dishes outside the package. The waiter didn’t speak much English thus couldn’t communicate well with some other guests that had extra dishes, he even asked my husband to go speak with them and ask for payment! Of course we didn’t do it, I guess no one got explained what’s included and what’s not. Funny that he only asked the Spanish speaker to pay.
Second day breakfast, we clearly asked what was included and ordered within. My eggs came half raw and I’m pregnant, have to eat fully cooked eggs for safety. We kindly asked them to cook the eggs a bit more, the waiter rudely rejected our request. My husband argued with them for about 20 minutes and they reluctantly re-made the eggs.
At check out, we got a bill including some food we never consumed, and the first day breakfast extra charges that the manager previously agreed to omit. We spent some time explaining to the front desk, he called the manager, then got it right for us.
We requested factura (Mexican invoice for tax deduction purposes), it took them 6 days to issue it - after 20 calls over these days from us reminding them, endless WhatsApp messages and some email exchanges copying a group of functions from the hotel.
I’d lived in Mexico for 7 years at this point of review, I had seen slow and lazy services at a lot of places within the country, but this was still shocking.
We noticed the manager Aida was exceptional, standing out from the whole service crew. She managed to solve most of our issues as well as our friends’. Without her, the hotel would have been running even less smoothly.
