"Timberline is home to a number of cozy, casual restaurants and bars — the Wy’East Café and Y’Bar for a quick lunch stop, the Ram’s Head Bar and Restaurant for cocktails and bowl of soup — but  the fanciest place to eat on the mountain is easily the lodge’s Cascade Dining Room. In a wood-lined dining space with mountain views, diners eat dishes like mussels steamed in vermouth or duck breast risotto with farro and fava beans, depending on the season; the restaurant also boasts a very strong wine list, heavily featuring Oregon and Washington bottles. Reservations are highly recommended." - Levi Rogers

We had lunch here, but the dishes were overly creative and ended up being just okay. Later, we attended another lunch buffet during ski season where the food was both good and tasty. It featured fresh vegetables and fruits, along with delightful waffles topped with real cream—it was absolutely delicious.

We wanted to try their breakfast, especially the buffet. You can order off a menu if you'd like. The buffet is all-you-can style. The food was ok, I really liked the breakfast sausage and made a really good waffle. No one came up to get our water/drinks, we figured they either forgot or just didn't want to come up, mind you there were only around 4 tables that were occupied. Once we flagged someone, we ordered our coffees, I was a bit disappointed. I got the huckleberry affogato and what they brought me looked like a mess. The waiter also didn't seem like he knew the menu, or what we were asking for. Anyway, the vibes on the other hand were great, the big Christmas tree and the fireplace was really nice and cozy, especially the snow all around. Overall, we glad we came, just expected food and coffee to be better from the beautiful, historic lodge. I would not consider this place fine dining at all. Hopefully their dinner is better and the wait staff is more attentive.

Had one of the best breakfast buffets of all time this morning at the Cascade Dining Room within the Timberline Lodge. Everything was fresh, the meal offerings were unique, and the service was fantastic. We couldn't recommend this breakfast experience highly enough!

We arrived at Timberline Lodge on the first evening of snow, greeted by the cozy glow of fireplaces warming the lodge. After a day filled with sightseeing and hiking, we were ready for a hearty meal, and friends had highly recommended the Cascade Dining Room. Our friendly waiter seated us and suggested their top dishes, including the Grilled Northwest Beef, Braised Lamb Shank, and a Crab Cake appetizer. Everything was spot on! The portions were generous – we could have easily shared a single entrée. The beef was perfectly cooked, tender, and bursting with flavor, while the lamb shank was deliciously rich and fall-off-the-bone tender. These comforting dishes warmed us right up. To end the night, we shared a skillet cookie with ice cream, the perfect sweet finish. The view from our table was magical, with snowflakes sparkling in the light just outside the window. Cascade Dining Room made for a perfect evening – great food, warm ambiance, and unforgettable views. Highly recommended!

Our experience with the buffet lunch on a mid-week day in late June was very disappointing. We made a point to stop for this buffet on a trip home from Sunriver after having a great experience with the restaurant two years ago. The quality of the food wasn't necessarily bad, but certainly not worth the $32 per person that we were charged. The main issue I saw was poor management of the operation. Food items were not very high quality and not being replenished at the rate expected. Servers seemed to be seasonal workers and either not properly trained in managing tables or just poor workers. The waffle maker wasn't working properly and created more of a mess than an edible waffle. All in all, it was just a very bland experience, and we all felt it was not worth the effort we made to get there. It's too bad. The Lodge is a great spot to visit, and the area is interesting to explore, but if it's not worth eating there we can make the pit stop in Government Camp instead. If the property is under new management, then be warned... real damage is being done to an iconic brand.

Excellent food and hospitality. My server was Gavin and he was great with menu suggestions, steak and skillet cookie dessert, as well as tips for skiing and snowboarding trails too. Would definitely recommend!

I was searching for a steak place in the area for dinner when this place popped up. I decided to give it a try, but it turned out to be an absolute disappointment. Save yourself the time and money. When I arrived, there was a long line outside. When I signed in for a table, I was informed that it would take 45 minutes to sit at the bar area or over two hours at the dining main area. I opted for the bar setting. While waiting for my table, my friend and I were in another line for over 30 minutes to get a drink. Meanwhile, people were cutting the lines and helping themselves to tables, while others waiting in the line. I was shocked. I ordered a glass of red wine for myself and a cocktail for my friend. To my surprise, we paid $40 for two drinks. Finally, we were seated at the back corner of the dining room, which was dark and depressing (I felt like I was in dungeon) When I asked why I couldn’t see the steak on the menu, the waitress informed me that they didn’t serve the same menu at the bar settings. After waiting so long, I decided to order one of their seafood dishes. However, after a while, the waitress returned and said they were out. I left hungry and disappointed. I decided not to stay any longer in this disorganized and unpleasant place. The girl who checks people upfront has no skills or customer service attitude. The bar staff is incredibly slow, making me question their ability to make drinks. I’ve never seen a long line at the bar with such slow movements. TS A people are doing a better job of moving the line than this place. The lodge is old and overcrowded. If you’re looking for comfort and peace, this is not the place for you.

Stopped in to the historic Timberline lodge. Wasn't planning on eating here but we decided to give it a try. We were here on a weekend and it was busy. Food took a while to get out but the server was very nice and kept us informed on how long our food would be. I got the French Dip, the meat was overcooked and dry. I didn't like the bleu cheese "au jus" but my wife did. She got the curry chicken salad, and we both agreed that we liked that better. Not sure I would make a special drive here to eat, but if you're visiting, it's worth a meal.

Yelp
Food here exists for convenience, no other reason. Came in for lunch on a Saturday after exploring Trillium Lake. There was no wait to be seated. For some reason, I was led to believe that there was a menu, but it was buffet-only. Choices were okay. There was a less-than-prime rib, chicken breast, a fish, a few salads, a couple soups, and other odds and ends. I'm not a sweets guy, but desserts were looking pretty thin. Ended up serving myself a piece of completely raw chicken from the tray. It was covered in sauce, but fully uncooked inside. I let the server know, and they pulled the tray immediately. I heard someone say "ewww, gross!" from the kitchen when they examined it. I didn't make a big fuss about it. Service was okay initially, and then super apologetic after the raw chicken fiasco. They comped my buffet and the beer that I was drinking, without me asking. Standalone food value certainly isn't there for the price, but you're paying to dine in a historical lodge on top of a mountain.

Yelp
Came here again this year for the lunch buffet. Because of the snowstorm and the fact that skiing was closed down, our party was the only people in the entire dining room so we had the whole buffet to ourselves. It was really good (a great tenderloin, salad, potatoes, veggies, breads, meats, broccoli cheese soup, a waffle maker, and some desserts that were ok). Staff were friendly. Price for kids was very reasonable. Meal included coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. We'll be back!

Yelp
One of the best dining experiences ever **Disclaimer I am not sure if they will do this for everyone** I went up for the weekend with my lady friend. We are both in the wine business so we brought a bunch of stellar bottles of wine. I asked ahead of time if the Chef could recommend food pairing for each wine (Champagne, White Burgundy, Oregon Pinot Noir, Bordeaux, and Sauternes) The chef said I will do better than that, I will make special dishes for each course that are not on the menu. He did just that and brought out each course one at a time himself. And this was during a busy Saturday night. Needless to say it was a over the top great experience!

Mike M.

Yelp
Beautiful dining room, good service and the worst steak (gristle) a restaurant can offer. When mentioning my disappointment to the manager he said the steak must have been near the end of the cut. No duh. But that didn't stop the kitchen from serving it. Truly disgusting.

Richa T.

Yelp
So for this place, I want to give the service five stars, but the food only 3. Hence the four star review that split the difference. As for food, we came here for the lunch buffet. The salads were wonderful, but there was one tabouleh based one that was a little under seasoned. As for the roast meats, one of the things I didn't like was that they are very heavy on pork and beef. We had a vegetarian in our group, and our server, Ian went above and beyond to make sure she had a vegetable sausage for an entree. For side dishes, they had fried rice, roasted potatoes, and mixed vegetables. While the food was okay, everything just seemed a little bland. Desserts were decent. The only thing is for the price for the buffet, we were expecting the food to be better. IG: QueenOfAdventureNYC

Yelp
Wonderful views however, I came for dinner a few weeks ago and was not impressed. Gave it another chance for lunch today. It was a prefix menu. 30$ per person! Service was extremely slow again. The options looked good but were very poorly made. Fries are horrible and they came out cold. BLT had fillings only on one side, melt had cold unmelted cheese! They ended up comping the meal. We did leave a tip for the wait staff, poor food is not their fault. So I think that's it. The bar upstairs is consistently better.

Jaime M.

Yelp
Cafeteria food at best at gourmet prices. $30 price for a sad salad bar with cheese and dressing as the two choices that go with the lettuce and spinach mix. The sandwiches were not appetizing, dry and with a piece of lettuce and a tomato slice on the hamburgers and grander burgers, great fries though. You do get chocolate cookies, best food of the entire meal. Really dissatisfied with the price and the service. I guess you pay for the historical location but you are better off coming for the views and bring your own food. When you think airline tourist class food beats the Cascade Dinning something is really off. We were happily surprised that they charged only one meal for two teens that were with us. That was a nice gesture.

Yelp
No ifs, ands, or buts about it, this place is spendy. But, everything at Timberline is on the expensive side, so that should be expected. At least you get what you pay for, the food is all delicious! For dinner I had the mushroom pasta one night and added the lamb to it. I was expecting the lamb to be ground and distributed into the pasta, but instead it was a super tender, bone-in filet. My friend got the same dish but added the duck, we shared bites and while the lamb was delicious, the duck was positively an 11/10! But the pasta was incredibly rich and a fair portion, it really didn't need the extra meat added to it to make it a full and fulfilling meal. At breakfast, I've had the quiche as well as the classic. The potatoes with the classic are astoundingly good - crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, well seasoned and somehow not dry. I added a side of them to the quiche, which was also super dense. Both of these breakfasts were really filling and I could practically skip lunch they stuck to my ribs so well. I'm a super big fan of rum, and when I saw the maple cider I had to try it. This is a hot drink, and in my opinion it's my new favorite. I actually took a photo of the menu so that I could try to replicate this at home! It's not overly sweet and doesn't taste too strongly of maple or of lemon. Bottom line - if you're staying at the hotel, there aren't too many options for where to eat. This place has some less expensive options but ultimately you get what you pay for and everything here is ultra high quality and delicious!

Yelp
We had dinner here last evening. Beautiful historic dining room with roaring fire in fireplace. Sadly our mushroom soup was not warm and the expensive salmon entree was terrible. The salmon was on top a large gelatinous plate of risotto. Last winter we had a fabulous salmon dinner here. Not sure what went wrong this year.

Yelp
Fabulous service. Knocked one star because the food was just okay. Definitely worth going once!! Great experience. Beautiful hotel!!

Jane L.

Yelp
This is one of our most favorite places - the Chef is beyond exceptional and they source everything locally organic and renewable- it is our special place and service is so personal- we got to really connect with the people- can't wait to spend the holidays here- the very best

Yelp
We went to the Timberland Lodge with little expectation because of the "covid". Could not of been happier with our "take out" to our room (they offered room service, but didn't want to impose on the staff anymore than we already had aka Xmas time) We ordered the pork schnitzel and a Croque Madame. The schnitzel was very good, but the Croque Madame was ridiculous. My wife being the best judge because she grew up in Paris and favorite past time being a foodie. The price is fair considering we were on top of a freggin mountain!! It was a little annoying not being able to dine in the dining room, but respect is greatly reciprocated for taking the pandemic seriously.

Yelp
We wanted to check out the snow on Timberline & got reservations for lunch....Not aware that it was "buffet" brunch style but it was pretty tasty! Pricing was excellent- arrive was good. Atmosphere was inviting & warm while the outside was anything but. Perfect match! Would recommend giving this place a shot!

Yelp
We went to the Cascade Dining Room to celebrate our son's and his fiancée's wedding and to have the rehearsal dinner with both families. The CDR is a cozy restaurant with an impressive vibe of an old, sturdy, epic castle from days past. It was a perfect dinner and a comforting experience thanks to our amazing waitperson David. He was professional, knowledgeable, kind and patient. We were a party of 10 and he worked so hard to make sure everyone was happy with their dinner experience. So grateful for you David. Kudos to the chef and kitchen staff also! Along with wine and drinks, we ordered many entree items on the menu, as well as the Manila clams and cheese board as appetizers. Great starters. Both families enjoyed their chosen entrees which included multiple orders of ribeye steak, duck and pork belly, scallops, the farfalle pasta, the baked chicken and the Bibb salad. Everything was perfectly plated and delicious and it was all devoured. The steamed clams especially, were some of the best I've ever had, such great flavors and deliciously seasoned. The ribeye steak was perfectly prepared with its deep rich sauce and side veggies. The duck and pork belly was also a hit. Desserts were unique and fantastic as well. The blackberry-basil tiramisu and skillet apple pie were favorites. It's very pricey, but it is so worth it when celebrating such a special occasion. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect evening to celebrate on the eve of the wedding. Thank you CDR for making it a very happy and special gathering for our two families.

Yelp
Another fabulous meal at Cascade Dining Room! We got married at Timberline Lodge a few years ago, so we always come here for our anniversary dinner. I've had brunch and lunch here as well. I always love it. It's such a beautiful space with some awesome views! The staff are great and wonderfully attentive, they create a lovely atmosphere of class. Last night we ordered a bottle of sparkling Argyle, watermelon gazpacho, seared scallops and the ribeye steak. Of course we dove into their complimentary "mini bite" appetizer and fresh baked & crusty table bread. So good. Strawberry cake for dessert. All was delicious, beautifully plated and cooked perfectly. I just can't get over Timberline Lodge and all the amazing aspects of this property, particularly this place. It is spendy, sure, but it's well worth it. It is a pleasure to dine in such an amazing historic landmark that is bursting at the seams with stunning craftsmanship & architecture. RESERVATIONS ARE A MUST if you want to be seated in a timely manner. Enjoy!

Mark F.

Yelp
The staff deserve a big bonus. They are so understaffed. We waited 20 minutes to get a table. The guy who seated us (with the accent) was the bartender, the cashier and was bussing tables. The buffet was really good. Decent pricing. I would go back.

Jeff P.

Yelp
Obviously a great ambiance and location and setting. Yes, the food is priced higher than it reasonably should, but that is somewhat to be expected. The muscles as a starter were amazing with the sauce they were in. The steak was well cooked and very tasty. Would return.

Caitie Z.

Yelp
My husband and I swung by Timberline Lodge on our drive back to Portland airport from Bend, OR. It was recommended to us by a couple from Washington State. Though it was fairly early in the morning, we decided to order drinks from the one restaurant that was open for breakfast. The hostess was running around trying to seat guests and perform other duties, causing a back up in seating. We were able to walk up to the bar and ordered a White Russian Chai (chai being my favorite hot beverage) and their Snow Cap Dream Hot Chocolate. The bartender had to run back and forth from the kitchen as the fridges underneath the bar were broken (and had been broken for over 2 weeks). I felt bad for her, plus it took her twice as long to make the drinks as it normally would. The prices for the beverages were expensive but knowing it was a resort, we were expecting it. Both beverages were delicious and we were able to enjoy them by the fire in the common area outside of the restaurant.

C B.

Yelp
The dining room is beautiful. The service was sub par for an expensive restaurant. Seems the staff is inexperienced. Prices are very expensive for the quality of the food. They take advantage of the near monopoly status.

Marsha S.

Yelp
BREAKFAST WAS AWFUL. I ordered the Veggie Skillet. Veggies covered with cheese and a sunny side up egg. Sounds pretty simple, right? It comes out and the cheese is not melted, the veggies are cooked but cold and the egg is glazed like it was cooked hours ago. And the skillet was COLD. So, obviously, the food was not cooked in the skillet...isn't that the point of a skillet? Our server was wonderful. He took the skillet back to warm it up. It came back and tasted microwaved (skillet still cold). I tilted the skillet and it had a quarter inch of grease in the bottom! If it wasn't cooked in the skillet, then the grease had to have been poured in there?!?! I sent it back again and asked for toast and jam. The toast took 10 minutes, and came out with parsley sprinkled on it. Seriously?? Our server was great. He tried to comp our breakfast, but we had a breakfast package. He says he hates working breakfast because the chef is always screwing things up. He said he took issue with him about the skillet and is regularly challenging him.. And this is the HEAD CHEF. We stayed here a couple of years ago and had a similar issue. Will NEVER eat here again, even if it's free.

Pnt M.

Yelp
We love timberline lodge and keep coming and love to eat at cascade for the night we are staying. However this round something seriously was wrong with this restaurant. Staff was not as warm and experienced as before. Food was disappointing and still pretty pricy. They gave the smallest meat platter that would probably cost them $2 for $20 and even the bread was burned. Main course was pretty bad. Chicken was super dry and taste super weird and one dish we had to actually add a lot of salt to eat and other was so salty that you couldn't touch. This is so disappointing and I hope they replace the staff and chef of this place.

Rna W.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience! Based on the pricing and location, I thought the Cascade Room would be formal dining but I'd say that it is more "casual dress with a fine dining experience". The staff is great. Very professional and attentive. They brought over bread, an amuse bouche (tuna tartare), and palate cleanser (cranberry line granita) throughout the meal. I ordered the gnocchi and added steak as the protein. The steak came out as a WHOLE 16 OZ RIBEYE! Wow. I didn't realize I'd get two entrees in one. It was all delicious. Great experience.

Whitney W.

Yelp
Stayed at the lodge for 3 nights/4 days 1/31-2/3. Had our 2nd wedding anniversary dinner on Monday night and was not disappointed. The service is phenomenal, the food unlike anything I could have fathomed. Cole our server was so attentive and hospitable, we dined here twice it was so good. The wine list is unbelievable. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet which was a dream, everything you can imagine they have on this buffet! Pumpkin bread, waffles, pastries galore, parfaits, ham, sausage, anything and everything! Can't wait to come celebrate another special occasion here soon!

Danielle J.

Yelp
Timberline is a long standing Christmas tradition for my family and it is tradition that keeps me coming back despite the challenges we face at the lodge. Food is a challenge. When the day lodge closes you are left with two very sad dining options. The cascade dining room is a dark, drafty, under staffed and over priced dining option. No music, no candlelight...just dark quiet sadness. Trying to minimize the damage my family and I ordered two kids meals and when we asked if an adult could order a burger they said "it's the same as the kids burger but it's a twelve dollar upcharge" bringing our kids sized burgers to a whopping $22 each! Despite the price we welcomed a burger in comparison to the dismal choices otherwise offered. Until we received our order to find an overcooked, small, cold burger with nothing on it and cold undercooked French fries. When we asked for mayo and mustard we were told they didn't have any. They offer no fridge nor a microwave so you really do find yourself to be in a bit of a food predicament. Not acceptable at $450 a night. It's a shame

L Michele S.

Yelp
After our horrible experience the night before at the Ramshead Bar upstairs in the Lodge, we weren't excited about eating here. However, they were much more on top of things and we ended up having a great breakfast. In June of 2021 you still needed to make reservations to eat here, even for breakfast. We arrived, got seated and ordered. The food came and it was delicious. Fair warning though, its expensive - yes, even breakfast. Service was nice and even took a few seconds to talk to us. The ambience of the dining room was fabulous. We actually sat out by the centerpiece/fireplace and were worried they'd forget about us, but they did not. Their servers cover all parts of the dining area well.

Callie N.

Yelp
Made reservations here since we were staying nearby, and after looking at the menu decided the food must be priced up because of the location. It just sounded a little boring? But, after getting our food out everything was scrumptious. We had the salmon, seared scallops, striploin, and pork shank. Also highly recommend getting a cheese plate. I would say the dessert descriptions were way fancy for what it actually was "pumpkin spice financier, chai mousse" was a cupcake lol. It was delicious, but not what I thought it would be. Took one star off because our cocktails were subpar. We did order drinks off menu so maybe that one is on us.

Michael L.

Yelp
Staying the week in Government Camp for our sons week long summer ski camp. Thought we'd treat ourselves to one nice meal out for the week and decided to do Timberline Lodge for Father's Day - we've done plenty on breakfasts up there over the years, but not dinner. I thought everything was wonderful. Jason was our server, and was great. Herman....loved your energy! My In-laws split the Rib Eye, my wife had the Salmon, son the Spaetzle with Chicken and I had the New York Special with Pharaoh grains. Everyone raved about their meal, and we enjoyed sampling each others. Drinks were on point and well made. Dessert was fabulous. Thanks for making Father's Day that much better. Cheers!

Roger J.

Yelp
How fun is it to hike the Timberline Trail 'Pursuing Balance Through Adventure' 42 miles and then treat yourself to magnificent meal in a Historic and fabulous lodge. The food was unreal and the portion were plentiful, service friendly and spot on.

Anita M.

Yelp
We called and asked if they have table for two, and they said, "Yeah, we can find something, come in" And I also said that we will be in 20 minutes, they also said that that's okay. So we drive here and we say that we called and you said that you have a place, so we came. And now they saying that sorry nothing until 8.00pm, did you make a reservation? Well I said no, cuz on the phone no one asked for my name and my phone number. So she just said that we can't come. If you talk on the phone make sure that you made a reservation! Or don't even bother yourself to come in.

ross j.

Yelp
Come for the architecture and the history of the timberline lodge! Unfortunately the restraint will not serve you unless you are staying at the lodge. The snotty little host informed us as a nearly empty dining room sat just over his shoulder behind him. The restaurant appeared on have promise... I wouldn't eat there for free after our experience. The least they could do is inform via Yelp or some other method that they are only accepting reservations from lodge guests. I spoke to the front desk as I was leaving to let them know that people were driving up for dinner and waiting their time. I they literally laughed it off. Don't be surprised if you encounter poor service. It is a shame given the history and beauty of the lodge.

Matt H.

Yelp
Great spot for Christmas dinner. Menu is set up with local & seasonal food items and the room was decorated in classic holiday style

Amy F.

Yelp
We just weren't that excited about this lunch - think we would have preferred eating upstairs in bar restaurant! It was a fixed menu. Super small appetizers(maybe 2 bites), 1 soup (French onion yuck), Main course was good size and then a dessert. Our teen son chose to just get 2 kids burgers for $8 each vs order from fixed menu. We were told the kids burgers were small but when it arrived it was same size as regular burger. So we could have just ordered 1 kids meal vs two. Sigh I'd just eat upstairs in the bar or down stairs at the blue ox place.

Chase M.

Yelp
Review for the brunch buffet: The best part of staying in a fairly expensive hotel is the breakfast in the morning, always hoping for an impressive buffet. I was not especially impressed with the spread they had here. Don't get me wrong, everything was fresh, but alot was pretty generic, and not having to order omlettes is always a real downer. I wish also they had more of the higher end, bennidicts, meats, and the like when this hotel is priced well above average. I would say it is a 3.5/4 I wouldn't say a 3. Just know, you won't be wow'd you won't be impressed, but you will be full

James D.

Yelp
I was having a bad day and I came in from the slopes and sat down for a Bloody Mary and ended up at a the breakfast buffet & it was wonderful. Zarin was my server and he made a v nice v spicy Bloody Mary & now my depression is cured.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
FANTASTIC atmosphere. Just ok food, good service! We had the Spatial, Pork Chili', soup and salad. My sale was drenched in dressing (it was good, just too much of it). My husbands green salad was perfectly dressed. Our meals were fine, but a bit blan, they could use more seasoning to enhance the flavors. The fancy hot chocolate is the best!! Get it for dessert!

James B.

Yelp
My wife and I had a pretty uncomfortable time due to the "manager" (who wasn't really the manager) named Heath threatened to refuse me service because I asked him to seat us, since we had been standing at the host stand for 10 minutes, even though we had a reservation. Heath then proceeded to threaten me once more when I asked why he would think that was any way to treat a paying guest, and then had a nice laugh with someone women he was seating at our expense, saying something along the lines of "oh yeah, I'll definitely take my time, especially now" in regards to setting us. Heath then proceeded to act as if nothing happened. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Anyone who thought it was a good idea to put someone like Heath in charge clearly doesn't understand the importance of creating a welcoming atmosphere.

Yelp
We came here for the lunch buffet on a Thursday afternoon since we were hiking at Mt Hood National Forest. The buffet was decently priced at $24.95 a person. There was a selection of salads, potato cheddar soup, charcuterie, cheese, fruit, carving station, meatloaf, pork loin, roasted vegetables, make your own Belgian waffle, and desserts. All the food was locally sourced and fresh. They also give you a freshly made country bread loaf for the table. The bread was hot and sliced thick. It was delicious. The buffet food was simple but freshly made. The ingredients are all high in quality. I really enjoyed the Oregonian specialties: hazelnuts, cheese, pork loin with beer cheese, and marionberry Swedish cream dessert. It's a good place to eat if you didn't pack a lunch while hiking in the Mt Hood National Forest.

Yelp
My wife and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary this last week and stayed at the lodge and had dinner at CDR. A fantastic meal, great ambiance and excellent service. We had the pork shank and scallops and they were incredible, if even a little salty. The dining room was nicely spaced out for our 8pm seating. Our server, Gavin, was a rockstar. From the champagne to the insights into the dishes to his bartending (he does it all!) he was great. Super kudos to Gavin for the service. We had a great meal, and yes you get what you pay for...so go for it!

Summer O.

Yelp
Well, not like you have many options in the area BUT this is tasty. They use local ingredients and make it fancier then Pacific Crest Trail hikers and alpine skiers. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast and both were tasty (breakfast we got the buffets).

Les J.

Yelp
It's all about the view and not the food if you want to get a good meal you're better off going somewhere else. However the food was edible and the waitresses were very kind and respectful. We got the lunch/brunch and there were not very many selections but what was there to eat was very good that's all I have to say I would recommend anyone to go to this dining room because it's all about the experience and not necessarily the food.

Yelp
Very disappointed in our expensive dinner. Mixed greens were ruined by chipotle filberts. My halibut was seriously overcooked. Server brought salmon, which was also overcooked. Friend had ribeye which was cooked ok; however he had asked for mashed potatoes instead of roasted Brussels sprouts and received the dreaded veg. The crusty bread was great.

Yelp
We just had an amazing dinner at the cascade dining room with our awesome waiter Clayton.

Yelp
Decent buffet, but worth checking before you decide to buy to make sure you like enough things. We enjoyed the food and the service. The atmosphere is among the lowest in the lodge however. The price is a little high, but what do you expect on top of mount hood? I would give 3.5 if it was possible but I really don't think it earned the forth star.

Yelp
Fantastic small plates. We enjoyed the smoked trout, ceasar & radicchio and kale & butternut squash. Unique combination of textures, color and flavor. Main entrees of mushroom pasta and pork chop were delightful. Two of us split the pork chop. For $5 charge kitchen will double plate and give plenty of sides (red pickled cabbage. Mushroom). Dining room is beautiful in the original design of this historical lodge..

Yelp
The dining situation is quite nice- although the food is not what you would expect for the price. Between $8 for a simple soup to $60 for venison, you definitely take a gamble with what you order. I ordered the chorizo skillet for breakfast at $22. It was a small portion and contained no chorizo or anything close to chorizo. Basic sausage was the meat- so it's fair to say I was not the happiest. For what it was, the flavor wasn't bad though.

Yelp
Dinner reservations required ... Semi-formal attire requested ... Deep pockets preferred. I'm not telling you Cascade Dining Room is going to be cheap ... I'm telling you Cascade Dining Room is going to be worth it. The menu is sprinkled with fresh seasonal and local ingredients. Several Moscow Mules from the bar upstairs (I think) and some fantastic Fresh Bread with soft Salted Butter kept me buzzed while sharing these fabulous finds: * Smoked Provoleta in a Cast Iron Skillet * Bacon Fat Poached Cascade Farm's Pork Loin * Wild Columbia River Chinook Salmon * A near-perfect local NY-style Steak With it's mountaintop location in historic Timberline Lodge, you'll be hard pressed to find a better restaurant nearly 6,000 feet above sea level than Cascade Dining Room. The meal reservation was a hurdle while the total bill with alcohol added up quickly, yet, like Fifth Harmony, baby, it's worth it.

Yelp
Great view, excellent service and yummy local farm to table buffet for lunch. Good wine and beer list as well. Definitely a must do if you get up to Mt. Hood.

Yelp
The food was pleasantly delightful with a nice view of the snow mountains. Especially the steaks were delicious, but what stood out the most was our server's Mathew's impeccable, kind, professional and most importantly, genuine service. You could really feel that he cared about our experience there and earned that 5th star for this review. One of the best servers I've ever had. What a delightful person he was. At a certain point during the dinner, I'm sure he could tell I was under high stress from a conversation that went on during our meal and gave us chocolate cake on the house during that and made a mean impromptu off menu huckleberry Italian soda :) he was also so quick to offer more bread which is always a big plus to me. I love complimentary bread lol. Thank you Mathew! And if I spelled your name wrong I'm sorry! You were wonderful!!! Give this man a raise!

Yelp
The smoke trout salad is amazing! New York steak is OK(a little too pricey). Don't order the pork chop! It got the bad taste of pork. If you don't eat pork every day, the taste is pretty prominent.

Yelp
A fabulous dining experience with one of the most breathtaking views of the Cascade volcanoes (especially during sunset under stormy skies). From the moment we were seated for dinner, we knew the evening would be special. We were seated near the window on a blustery evening (the flags were dancing away through the wind gusts). The sun setting over Mt. Jefferson was unforgetable. We started off with the Puget Sounds Manilla Clams with Black Truffle-Foie Gras Butter. Delish especially with the unusual creamy broth that made for great dunking with the sour dough bread. We highly recommend a glass of wine from the Mt. Hood Winery. (we had an amazing Pinot Noir) For our entrees were had the Nicky Farm's Grassfed Oregon Bison Ribeye a la Plancha and the Timberline's Lodge Butchered Proprietary Beef - New York Strip. Both cuts were tender and complimented with an amazing array of flavors from the veggies and sauces. (We loved that we were presented with a choice of knives to cut our steaks.). Even though we were so full, we some how left room for the delectable Chocolate Meringue with Smoked Hazelnuts for dessert. Throughout the meal, we were taken good care of by the first rate staff (Thanks to Kara and the crew!!). We were enjoying ourselves so much, we didn't even realize we were there for two hours. Note: 4 starts instead of 5 because both times we ate at the Cascade room, our bill was wrong. Being charged for items we didn't order and taking gift certificates from us, but not applying them to the bill.
