Never have I ever been to a buffet that feels like home. Usually, I stick with chains and the odd Chinese buffet here and there, but Casey's... What a blessing.
Don't be turned away when you walk in. It definitely has an old-timey, we've-been-doing-this-since-before-you-were-born-and-we-ain't-changing feel. We always ask for the same waitress. I wish I knew her name because she's an honest to goodness sweetheart. Always checking on us, starting hilarious conversations, and just an all-around good person. We probably wouldn't come here as often if she weren't around.
Casey's is all about pig, pig, and more pig. I can't go anywhere else and eat pig feet until I pass out... which is probably a good thing considering my blood pressure is a mess. On a couple of occasions, the feet have been a bit tough to chew and had an off-putting smell, but the majority of the time they're soft and sticky! Just how properly cooked pig feet should be. Pair it with a few slices of cucumber (which is the only fresh vegetable on the line - don't come here expecting a salad) and you have a match made in hog heaven. Oink oink!
And the pig continues! They have fried pork chops, bbq, and chitterlings. I won't eat just anyone's chitterlings. Gotta be cooked to hell and back and seasoned from head to toe. Casey's does just that.
My other line choices are the cooked veggies and maybe some fried fish. I don't venture far from my piglets unless it's dessert time. The presentation of the dessert bar and the desserts themselves is lacking severely, but they do make up for it in taste. Catch me with some peach cobbler and vanilla ice cream at the end of a meal and you know I'm doing good.
My mother gets fresh fried fish and shrimp. The fish on the line is normally salty, so she gets it fried with minimal salt. The fresh fried fish nuggets are great, too!
This is basically a place if you like good, southern cooking and being fat. It's a great experience.
