I tried the milk cupcake and luscious lemon cupcake here. The lemon cupcake was absolutely delicious—perfectly balanced in flavor! However, the milk cupcake felt a bit too sweet for my taste. That said, the shop itself is adorable and beautifully decorated. It’s a lovely place to visit for a sweet treat.

The cupcakes are reasonable priced, fresh and delicious! The coffee combo is a steel. The box that holds the cupcake inside makes a great gift. There are seats outside but there are homeless residents who may approach you for money. They may even go inside the store to look for the next target to solicit money from occasionally. So be careful with your surroundings. I would give the store a five-star if they have a better way to detour the homeless residents from interrupting the patrons.

CUPCAKE WAR QUEEN! Casey’s Cupcakes is a great place for cupcake enthusiasts to gather. Equipped with outdoor seating and in the heart of Downtown Riverside is this sweet spot! It’s a pastel shop with a whimsical touch. Casey’s treats are very tasty and delicious. This was my first time trying Casey’s macarons and OMG they tasted so good! My only issue is that I came on a weekend and it wasn’t even closing time when I discovered many of their cupcakes and macarons were not in stock! It was a bit disappointing… other than that the girl running the store was nice.

Google
The most underwhelming cupcakes I ever had. We where the very first customers on a Thursday and the cupcakes tasted a day old. The the frosting was sickly sweet and drowned the rest of the cupcake. The bread portion was dry. The rest of the cupcakes where the same (my family all ordered diffirent ones). Vons makes fresher cupcakes. The selection for a Cupcake store is extremely limited (barely a rack). Not worth the price.

Google
I got the German Chocolate and the dark chocolate delight. The worst cupcakes I ever had in my life, the frosting on the dark chocolate was at least twice as big as the cake part and it actually fell off the cupcake when I opened my box because it was so big and heavy. The chocolate frosting was very bad on both cupcakes, tasted too sweet and like soap. Had to throw away both cupcakes after one bite because it was so nasty and it upset my stomach. The only redeeming thing about this place was the workers there, they are always nice and friendly when I've been here. Would not recommend going here.

Google
The cupcakes (we had different) are DRY, tasted stale! Not worth the $5.00. And if you call a cupcake Milk Chocolate…I expect to have a chocolate cake! Since the cupcake should be main ingredient. I think all your flavors are vanilla, and what the frosting is, then you name it! Weird

Google
Honestly disappointed.. it's such a big talk that I had just had to go. It's a cute little store but NO WHERE near the hype. It's all talk. Cupcakes are cute and a decent size but $6 for one cupcake and $3 a macaroon I had high expectations. It was so dry! And I truly came with an open mind and excitement to try it. I could have made better tasting cupcakes myself at home..

Veronica Chavez

Google
I use to come here all the time when it opened. I stoped coming here and 5 years ago when I noticed the cupcakes weren’t tasting the same. Decided to give it another try. I tried 4 different cupcakes. All of them were dry, overcooked and lacking flavor. Even my kids threw it hated it. We all ended up throwing them away. I tried their iced latte and even that tasted watered down and lacking flavor.

Yelp
This is such a cute boutique! Very PINK. It's a small cupcake store and some macarons too. My coworker bought some cupcakes to go. I didnt get a chance to eat one, but the store is cute. There is street parking or you can park in the structure at the mission inn and walk over. It's $10/hr or $30 max for the day. There aren't any tables inside, but there were some outside. The packaging is cute too. I saw these cupcakes from a meeting held at the mission inn. We were told the shop was just around the corner.

Yelp
I was in the mood for something sweet after lunch so I decided to head on over to Casey's Cupcakes. I was very excited to try them, given their Cupcake Wars win. Unfortunately, my experience did not meet those expectations. The cupcakes, while aesthetically pleasing, fell short in flavor and quality. The red velvet and Oreo flavors lacked the depth and richness I anticipated, and the icing-to-cake ratio was off, leading to excessive mouthfuls of icing and little to no cake. For the price, I found the quality to be disappointing compared to other options available. I have had better at my local Vons bakery. While the presentation is lovely, I found the cupcakes to be rather basic. I hope they can address these issues and improve in the future. I will not be returning.

Mary J.

Yelp
This place used to be so good, it's definitely gone downhill. The cupcake wrapper was stuck/ burned on the cupcake. The cake was dry and hard. The positives.... frosting was decent and they look cute. But tastes bad.

Sophia C.

Yelp
More of a 3.5 stars - Cute little cupcake shop at the Mission Inn - I had the Beach Boy which was a vanilla cupcake - moist crumb, good vanilla flavor. However the milk chocolate one I was told was grainy, tasteless and had a strong baking powder taste. So I'm guessing quality is inconsistent. $4.50 per cupcake - expect crazy lines during Festival of Lights. I have definitely had better (Camarillo Cupcakes is still the best!) and they definitely could have had more variety of interesting flavors (instead of just basic ones you can get anywhere). It's not life changing but if you got a hankering for something bad for you, this is the place. Otherwise go to Simple Simon's 50 feet away and get some real pastries there.

Yelp
Too busy to respond? Its never good to hear a manager tell you that the "owners" typically don't return calls when you leave messages for her. I left a few msgs for Casey about attending an event for National Barbie Day as our quest. No Call back. I call again and get the mgr. I repeat who I am and why I'm calling and she tells me "Oh I didn't hear that this was a invite to appear. I will call Casey and someone will get back to you". So, I'm inviting Casey to attend an event at an International historic landmark. I get crickets??? I was going to order 200 cupcakes for the event for the guest and thought it might be a good collaboration possibility. I guess not. This is not how many people do business. Sad.

Tony T.

Yelp
Cupcake were good, a bit on the sweet side. You can either sit inside or go outside and sit at tone of the tables to enjoy the weather while eating your treat. Service was fast.

Alejandro P.

Yelp
After eating, we were craving something sweet. Unfortunately, the treats did not hit their mark. The macaroons were really hard and the banana cupcake tasted a little artificial. The peanut butter cupcake wasn't half bad though.

Jolie C.

Yelp
I went yesterday and we had cupcakes I had the strawberry cupcake and Tyler got the chocolate cupcake when we saw the lights during the holidays.

Araceli V.

Yelp
Beautiful shop beautiful cupcakes. So beautiful you don't want to eat it. Perfect cupcakes for all occasions. It's a sweet experience every time I come here.

Rakhi B.

Yelp
Ambiance - cute place..everything is pink. Service - fast and friendly Food - Casey is daughter of owners of mission inn. She won cupcake wars. Kind of disappointed..I got German cake and it felt like it was too dry.. also they ran out of mill already.

Jessica R.

Yelp
We got four different kinds of cupcakes and only one of them was decent. The other three tasted old and the frosting tasted like it came right out of a jar. Won't be going back.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
My last visit was last week on 1/8/25. I went in to purchase my co-workers cupcakes as their Christmas gift, as I was out of work for a while due to injury. I have to say, I have NEVER been more disappointed! This was always my go to place for sweets, but lately a little disappointing to say the least. Cup cakes no longer have the same presentation, taste is not great, and breading is so dense. I purchased a total of 10 cupcakes, 4 of those were Red Velvet, but looked nothing like Red Velvet, nor did they taste like them either. They looked more like cupcakes anybody could've made at home and still look better! I don't know what changed, but after 12 years of being a loyal customer I doubt I will be coming back.

Crystal V.

Yelp
Limited flavors available on New Year's Eve (early in the evening around 5 pm). The size of the cupcakes and amount of icing has dwindled unfortunately. Service was not welcoming, need fun, happy people working. Ambiance was presentable. Casey's use to be a special place with memorable cupcakes, unfortunately it has become mid.

Emi M.

Yelp
I found the icing to be overly sweet and over all too much icing vs cupcake. The workers seemed totally over the rush of people that the Festival of Lights brings downtown. Wasn't bad but also wasn't great. Most likely won't return unfortunately cuz the shop is very cute. Maybe the ice cream, macaroons, and coffee are better ?

Pawnee Rick T.

Yelp
This little cupcake place adjacent to the Mission Inn is an interesting shop to visit while strolling the outside western perimeter of the hotel grounds. Unfortunately, the emphasis on presentation appears to overshadow the quality of the actual product being advertised. The shop is neat and sharply decorated in pinks and pastels that would undeniably garner the envy (or ire?) of Barbie herself - especially since they market a Barbie-esque little doll that could easily be mistaken for the original "queen of plastic playthings" or, at the very least, one of her pals! Similarly, orders are packed in little pink-striped, miniature hat boxes that cleverly fold out when ready for consumption of that anticipated treasures within. Unfortunately, the actual cupcakes serve as an anticlimax to the anticipated treat your eyes have broadcast to your tastebuds. LOTS of rather flavorless frosting piled high on a cake base that isn't especially moist; not horrible - but far more of a treat for the eyes than the palate. By the way, plan on diving into that mountain of frosting face-first since, at least on the day we visited, as no pink plasticware was available except for knives. When I asked the counter help for a fork or spoon, one of the two young ladies replied that if there was none available at the little counter across from their location at the register, they were out. (I trust they could see the 8-foot span between the two locations - but maybe I should recommend an employee vision plan.). Thanks for the help, ladies - I'm sorry to have disturbed your conversation with a legitimate customer need. I think it's only fair to observe that this was on the Sunday of the Mission Inn Run (10/22/23), so there was probably more business than on the typical Sunday mid-morning. For that reason, I can understand the limited cupcake selection - but the non-availability of plasticware seemed more like an excuse for the staff to avoid a back stockroom visit than an actual supply crisis (and dropped my rating a star further due to their apathetic response to my inquiry). It's a cute little shop, but the cupcakes don't seem to be the real star of the show. I'd recommend trying one before buying a dozen.

Yelp
During my stay at the Mission Inn Hotel & Spa I decided to visit Casey's Cupcakes. I walked into the shop and it was the cutest!!! Decor was pink & white with the cupcakes displayed beautifully behind the glass case. The employees were very welcoming & friendly. My family and I each ordered are own cupcake which were individually packaged in a pink & white box, so pretty. Let me start by saying, I do not like to buy individual cupcakes because they are usually dry, small and overpriced but not Casey's Cupcakes. I ordered the strawberry cupcake and it was the most delicious cupcake I ever had!!! 10 out of 10!! The cupcake was moist, tasted & smelled of strawberries, the ratio to cupcake & frosting was on point and it was delicious!!! The cupcake smelled divine, like a bundle of fresh strawberries. With every bite, the smell and taste of strawberries left me smiling from ear to ear. On my last day at the Mission Inn, I went back to Casey's Cupcakes to bring home a few strawberry cupcakes. I live about an hour away from Casey's and for the 4th of July I am planning to return and get some cupcakes.

Carol P.

Yelp
I've been going here for many years and unfortunately there cupcakes are getting dryer and dryer. And for $5.00 a cupcake it's to expensive to buy such a dried up dessert.

Jess M.

Yelp
Perfect cup cakes delicious and I really love they have a sugar free cupcake for the healthy conscious! Service is great too.

Mia J.

Yelp
Sooooo, I'm super disappointed because I've come here for years and years (like 8-10+) and today, I decided to drive 45 minutes out of my way to get a couple of German Chocolate & Lemon cupcakes. The 1st hint that I shouldn't have made the drive was being told they actually close at 5pm (although their hours online state 8pm.) I'm not sure these should even be labeled "cupcakes!" They are TINY now, like mini grocery store sized... (for the same inflated prices, of course.) The REAL tragedy is how DRY & STALE they are! I can't believe that instead of the DELICIOUS, signature German Chocolate icing engulfing the tops & dropping around the sides, as they've always had them...these have about a nickel size drop of GERMAN CHOCOLATE icing on the top, surrounded by the cheap, bland, chococolate whip junk. I see why Nothing Bundt Cakes took over the IE! I actually want my money back. ***These went in the TRASH after the 15 second test to see if the microwave would actually bring a little moisture back. Nope, yuckie. UPDATE: Sooooo, since they were out of lemon, I ordered 1 red velvet cupcake...which was literally just a CHOCOLATE cupcake! (They didn't even take the time to add red dye...) Dry as well...

Stewart L.

Yelp
This cute, very pink shop is located off the pedestrian mall on Mission Inn's grounds. It's named after Inn co-owner Kelly Roberts' daughter. I think there is more than one location, but I found the website hard to navigate so cannot confirm this. The shop offers numerous flavours of cupcakes plus other sweet treats like macarons and cotton candy. I think they do coffee beverages also. There's even a Casey doll that looks very much like Barbie. I like fruit flavours, so I got the only 2 fruity cupcakes, strawberry and lemon. They were $4.75 each and were packaged in cute individual boxes that spring open when you take the lid off so there's less mess and you don't need a plate. The cupcakes were rather short, most of the height was from the frosting. The flavour of the cupcake and frosting was meh, not very fruity. A treat more for the eyes than the mouth.

Stephanie E.

Yelp
Hotel guest. No greeting what so ever from the staff member. I've read other reviews and it seems lack of greeting or rude customer service is the mandatory training here. Gnats flying in the enclosed cupcake case. Employee was put off and the vibe was not welcoming which is totally different from the hotel staff. When we left clerk asked us to close the door. I wonder if I should've offered to bake the cupcakes, clean the case or train her on why she has a job. Without the customers, there are no sales! Shouldn't be advertised in the hotel because service skills from staff are polar opposite. Won't be back.

Soledad D.

Yelp
Honestly disappointed.. it's such a big talk that I had just had to go. It's a cute little store but NO WHERE near the hype. It's all talk. The staff is rude . Not welcoming. The frosting was too sweet and they have so much you can't eat them of how sweet it is . Literally all frosting no bread . I will not be returning.

Eden C.

Yelp
I like the coconut ones! They come in a cute pink box that makes it feel like a present. Nice for a small sweet treat.

Emily C.

Yelp
This place is good if you want to be hospitalized from a food allergy or from inadequate hand washing (see their health violations in the image I uploaded)! My boyfriend and I visit here on Friday and he was asking the worker if there were any walnuts in their Germain?/chocolate cupcake because he's very allergic to walnuts. The first worker said "...uhhh I dunno??", which is just a little alarming....You should know what's inside the cupcakes especially if customers may have food sensitivities or at least act like you're embarrassed you're unsure...BUT the worst part is, a second employee confidently chirped: "No walnuts in there. It's pecan! You're good." Lo and behold, boyfriend took a bite of an unsuspecting walnut hidden in the cupcake and his throat started closing up shortly after. eek!! Please educate workers to be familiar with the ingredients and to know the difference between a walnut and pecan! And of course, price point is high for the quality. The cupcake itself lacks flavor and moisture. It tasted strange and not fresh. The icing didn't seem like buttercream or anything I'm familiar with. Kind of like paste that drops into glops. My stomach also hurts after eating the cupcake. I don't really know what I ate. It didn't taste like a cupcake. Unfortunately, like another reviewer said, Albertsons and Vons cupcakes are much better. I got a peppermint chocolate snowman drawn marshmallow cupcake. The snowman's poor face looks like a pre schooler drew it (which is cute if you're at home decorating with your kiddos). Sorry to leave a bad review (I don't like doing so), but I felt I needed to warn customers and the employees at this place! The only good thing about this place was the cute pink decor.

Debbie B.

Yelp
Check out was very frustrating due to malfunctioning equipment . Clerk not friendly . Worst part was the actual cupcake . I purchased three and the only thing soft was the frosting . The cupcake was dry and rock hard . I have been going there since they opened however have not been there for about a year . My last time was this evening .

Susan H.

Yelp
I'm a longtime customer since the opening in 2009 when I was a college student (although I'm much more sporadic with my visits now that I've moved from Riverside). I went in today for cupcakes and was disappointed at the service of the employees. When I came in, not one employee greeted me (there were 4 in the front area). Despite their lack of hospitality, I made my purchase and left the store, only to come back in because I was not given or offered any cutlery after taking my cupcakes to go. I asked where the forks were and the employee's tone in response made me feel like I should've known they were tucked in the corner by the door. I grabbed it and quickly left again. I think it's important to make your customers feel good about spending money with you, and today I didn't get that kind of service. Nevertheless, I bought the cupcakes for nostalgia reasons. They were smaller and drier than I remember, adding to my disappointment. With that said, I'm not sure when I will visit again.

Angel M.

Yelp
First time at Casey's and it was a beautiful shop! Clean and organized. The staff was pleasant and polite. I got the German Chocolate cupcake, which was perfect! It was not overdone with sugar. There are many delicious options!!! Great treat!!

Katherine D.

Yelp
The girl behind the counter was so rude she couldn't tell me about the cupcakes and she was too busy on the phone. She also said that they accept card only. She said no to everything the entire time we were there.

Charity V.

Yelp
What happened to the delicious cupcakes? The lemon cupcake was pretty much all frosting with cake crumbles. The German chocolate was the same... All frosting and definitely wasn't German chocolate, it was a chocolate cupcake. Also they are much smaller. If I had realized how small they are now, I wouldn't have bought them ( daughter went for us). Customers do notice when quality changes. We won't be back and i don't think you will be in business much longer if you continue like you are. People want a cupcake, not a frosting no cake! Absolutely was horrible. You're doing a great job of ruining your business.

Erica O.

Yelp
Strawberry cupcake had mold. It was green and hidden in the crevice of the pink frosting. Disgusting and should have known because the aura of that place is off. Get some sage and bleach. My husband is a nice person and wanted to support this small business. This small business has no soul and I was right- it's rotten.

Sandy L.

Yelp
This place is horrible now, the cupcakes don't taste the same and the customer service is really bad now

Katie T.

Yelp
If I can give it 0 stars I would. Walking in was not welcoming at all. I felt very uncomfortable. The store felt very chaotic. Looked dirty, what happened to the class this place use to have?!? I asked for the flavor of the month and they showed me a cupcakes that resembled mashed potatoes and gravy. I thought it was a joke and it was presented on a dirty cupcake tier. To top it off they were missing a lot of flavors. The cupcakes taste dry icing was crispy like it's been sitting there for days. I have been a regular for years and I was excited to come back after they announced their "reopening" my expectations were so high because this place use to be amazing. My experience today was horrible I could of got better cupcakes from Walmart. It's a sore thumb attached to the beautiful mission inn. What happened to this place?? Such a disappointment... When it comes to the hygiene of the employees the cashier had his hair down in his face. And the baker came from the back with facial piercings and hair in sloppy buns. I work in food industry and know that this is unacceptable in the workplace. It's so sad to see this place go down and seeing the other reviews It's sad that nothing is being taken into consideration.

Alex T.

Yelp
The Cupcakes taste horrible. You can find better cupcakes at the grocery store. Overpriced and overrated. I suggest you go elsewhere if you want moist, delicious cupcakes because you won't find any here.

Courtney M.

Yelp
The cupcakes are cute and delicious, I have gone a couple times now and tried quite a few different flavors. There have been flavors I have yet to try because they're always out of them. But the flavors I have tried we're good. The place is decorated so cute. The service has been OK. I have come across nice girls and girls with attitude that are working behind the counter which is why I can't give them five stars, but when it comes to the flavors of the cupcakes and the the ambience of the establishment It is definitely worth giving them a taste customer service is everything and if that is lacking, it's going to ruin someone's experience.

Alicia M.

Yelp
Casey's Cupcakes is located in downtown Riverside at the Mission Inn. There are limited metered parking spots or large parking garages in the area but more than likely you will be walking to this location unless you are a guest at the Mission Inn hotel . The store is well decorated in pink tones and feels like an upscale cupcake shop. I've tried many flavors and would say these are descent cupcakes. I have been given a dry cupcake a few times that tasted like it had sat out for a few days which is the reason for my three star review. My favorite has been strawberry - when I have it fresh .

Jenny B.

Yelp
During my stay at the Mission Inn Hotel & Spa Casey's Cupcakes is promoted as a place to grab a yummy treat. I have never been to this place and it seemed nice, but like any place the staff can make it or break it. We walked in and said good morning to all staff and they just turned around and gave us blank stares without saying a word. The young lady boxing up our cupcakes was far too young to be that bitter looking. Not sure if she isn't a morning person or hates her life, but that shouldn't be for the customer to know or experience. Her poor attitude assured us never returning to this place again. The cupcakes itself aren't worth the trip, money spent, and let's sprinkle on poor customer service. It falls completely short of any great expectations. It's a shame too considering it's Casey's business. Not sure how many branches she has out there, but she may want to look into improving this one. It's not doing her any favors.

Wayne G.

Yelp
I had a sweet tooth and as I was walking back to my hotel, I saw this cupcake shop. It's got a chic vibe, so I decided to drop in. The staff member was friendly and helpful. She greeted me after I walked in. It was late in the day, so the selection was limited. So I picked 2 Running Red Velvet cupcakes. The packaging is really nice. Each cupcake was packaged individually, in its own box. I ate both of them, they were fresh and tasted good, moist, not dry and not too sweet. My next visit I will get here a little earlier and try another flavor. Ice cream and cotton candy are also sold here.

Caroline L.

Yelp
Purchased only 2 cupcakes and sadly one was moist while the other was stale and hard. The one that was confetti was moist and the milk chocolate was stale. I was looking forward to the cupcakes thinking they would be yummy for the price you pay for one cupcake.

Isaias P.

Yelp
This is our go to spot at the Mission Inn in Riverside. This Casey's Cupcakes is located right next to our favorite pizza spot. The place is small and straight to the point, get your cupcakes and next haha. We normally get the Red valvet and ice cream on the side. So far so good, the workers are really nice and kind. Will continue to visit this location everytime I visit the Mission in! P. S No ice cream on Sundays.

XO X.

Yelp
Came here during Festival of Lights because I have been dying to try out the cupcakes and what a disappointment! We took the cupcakes to go and ate them at home when we got home and they were not good at all. The tallest cupcake (tree cupcake) was flipped upside down and smushed, the confetti cupcake was just OK but the vanilla one was just not good at all. I picked at that over the next day but ended up just tossing it. The confetti cupcakes out of the box are the way to go

Sean L.

Yelp
Terrible hours and out of everything. Staff was very 'meh' what happend to this place?

Jeremy K.

Yelp
This was one of the worst cupcakes we've had. It was 75% frosting & barely any 'cupcake'. Even my 4-year old son couldn't eat it. They should change this locations name to 'Casey's Frosting'. Terrible

Lisa S.

Yelp
The cupcakes here not only look gorgeous but they taste delicious. I picked up some cupcakes for a bridal shower/bachelorette party. It was beautiful and came out just the way I anticipated. The cupcakes were VERY moist! It took me by surprise when the cupcakes were still moist the next and the following day. The reason for the star deduction was because the frosting was a little on the extra sweet side. I had to take off majority of the frosting to suit my taste buds. I also found it extremely difficult to find parking nearby to just grab and go. You have to park and walk to get to the store. Pro - Cute cupcakes at a reasonable price Con - Would not eat on a regular basis as I'd be afraid of getting diabetes Overall - I'd say that Casey's cupcakes are a treat (once in a looong while)

Susanne E.

Yelp
Cute and inviting little shop. Although the cupcakes are pretty to look at, it was probably the worst cupcake I've ever had. The cake was dry and stale. I also ordered a pink lemonade and it tasted like flavored water. I asked the employee why and she said she could add more POWDER!!! Seriously, powdered lemonade for a fancy shop like this is ridiculous.

Sanela S.

Yelp
The store is very aesthetically pleasing, everything is cute and pink, even the packaging. Unfortunately, that may be the only good thing about this place. The cupcakes are overpriced, and although the cake part was not bad, the icing on the cupcake was just pure sugar. Honestly, I don't know how anyone can eat something so sweet, and I have a sweet tooth! The macarons are below average, too. I wouldn't come back, that's for sure. I can't say that I'd recommend this place, either. I knew it wouldn't be great based on other peoples reviews, but I still wanted to see for myself. I wonder which cupcake was the one that won cupcake wars.

Troy C.

Yelp
I'm honestly pretty surprised by the reviews snd feel like I need to leave a review because of it. We got a good sized cupcake for the price and it wasn't dry at all. Very moist. The icing was very smooth and tasty but a bit overly sweet balance-wise. I'm not a cupcake person and was still satisfied. The guy working there was really nice as well.

Rhonda S.

Yelp
They open at noon, not 11 like Yelp shows. I m sorry to agree with others, the cupcakes are very dry. I got the double chocolate. So disappointed.

Helen H.

Yelp
The store is so adorable and the cupcakes have really cute names. Everything is pink, including the receipt. There are shiny sprinkles on some of them and they look great in photos! The packaging alone made the cupcakes really special. I ordered the crownie, dark chocolate, and gluten free vegan chocolate. I would say the crownie is quite special (brownie and cupcake). I really liked the soft and moist texture of the batter. It wasn't too sweet either. Above all, I really appreciate the gluten free vegan options. It's hard to find those at bakeries and regular sweet shops. The nice young lady also changed gloves to make sure there was no cross contamination!
