All The Notable Restaurant Controversies in Montreal for 2019 | Eater Montreal

"I reported that the Montreal Casino and its parent government corporation were ordered to pay $102,500 in compensation after a class action found patrons had been overcharged on alcohol during supposed drink specials." - Eater Staff

How Did We Get Here? Montreal’s Joël Robuchon Beef From Start to Finish | Eater Montreal

"Housed on Île Notre‑Dame and run by the crown corporation Loto‑Québec, the Casino de Montréal became the focal point of debate when it brought the L’Atelier concept to the site: critics such as Lesley Chesterman and other local chefs argued that using public gambling agency money to fund a high‑end foreign chef’s restaurant was an insensitive use of public funds, Loto‑Québec has largely refused to disclose detailed finances or grant interviews, and the finance minister’s mention of an $11 million price tag intensified public backlash even as the agency defended the project’s value." - Eater Staff

Montreal Casino, Loto-Québec to Pay Out $100,000 For Overcharging Drinks | Eater Montreal

"Following a class-action suit I read about, the Montreal Casino — technically through its owner Loto-Québec — was forced to provide $102,500 in compensation after a 2016 complaint by criminal lawyer Mustapha Mahmoud who was charged the Friday–Saturday $7.25 price despite a $5.75 drink special that runs Sunday–Thursday; the $1.50 overcharge, the suit argued, happened many times to many people. I find the case legally solid but somewhat frivolous in spirit given the small per-drink amount, and the outcome arguably favors the casino because the settlement avoids cash refunds and instead channels patrons back into the venue where they still pay full price for alcohol." - Tim Forster

Quebec Still Refuses to Share How Much Public Money Went Into Joël Robuchon’s Montreal Resto | Eater Montreal

"As the venue housing the Robuchon restaurant, I noted that the Montreal Casino is run by Loto‑Québec, which has repeatedly refused to divulge how much the government and the corporation spent on bringing L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon to Montreal; casino representatives denied an $11 million figure that a minister briefly mentioned, and Loto‑Québec supplied legal reasons for withholding the financial information and did not answer follow‑up requests for clarification." - Tim Forster

Nice décor. The weekends it's lively often with shows and such. Free drinks bar self serve (soft drinks, coffee). Booze is at the bar $ The arcade is meh, more expensive than elsewhere with a card and pt system. You can redeem pts for some cheapie toys or snacks. Not enough cheaper table or digital ones for stuff like blackjack where there is still a little bit of a social aspect of playing with other real people. Can get a little lost and confusing in there. There is also a place to buy food and a canteen.

The Casino de Montreal has a unique and impressive location, set on an island surrounded by water and separated from the heart of the city, which makes the arrival experience memorable. Inside, the gaming machines are clean, well-organized, and visually appealing. However, despite the polished look, I expected the overall atmosphere to feel more exciting and energetic.

An unforgettable night at Casino de Montréal! The ambience, architecture, and waterfront views were absolutely stunning — especially during the night. The entrance bridge lit up beautifully, and the overall vibe was vibrant yet classy. Even if you don’t play, it’s worth visiting just for the lights, the energy, and the scenic walk along the water. Highly recommended if you’re in Montreal!

My friend from Vancouver was joking with a joker — lol! Anyway, this place is amazing and relaxing, especially with their refreshing drinks and tasty treats. People should definitely come here often!

Gorgeous casino. Truly a marvel to see. Tons of games. Tons of slots. My only gripes are that the only crabs table isn't a conventional crabs table. It's digitized. The other gripe is you don't get free drinks while gambling. It is definitely worth a visit if you are in Montreal though. Very cool!

I had a great group experience visiting the largest casino in Canada. The games are plentiful and exciting, the atmosphere is incredible, and the free soda-coffee-juice bar is fantastic. The casino is relatively clean and the music there is fantastic unlike clubs and other casinos.

Lively place in lively city. Impressive architecture. Much better than Toronto One. Been there twice and love the vibe. Don’t miss this place if you’re visiting Montreal. Games for professionals and non professionals. Worth the money…
