CMR’s attention to detail, genuine hospitality, and excellent wine make it my favorite winery and place to visit!
Their wines are layered, distinct, and delicious. I especially like their Granche Noir and make sure to always have at least a couple bottles on hand at home, it pairs well with everything, but isn’t a pushover.
As for the venue, the architecture, design choices, layout, landscaping, and vibe all communicate luxe without pretentious (which is a hard needle to thread!). They have multiple areas to taste or enjoy a bottle/glass on site, which means no matter your group size or composition, there’s likely an arrangement that’ll be what you’re looking for. I like propping my feet up, leaning back, and overlooking the water.
About their hospitality: Their team is warm, aware (follows your lead on how much engagement or communication you may want), and informative. I love visiting because, in my experience, their team is just some of the best folks… and it makes it such a lovely experience every time.
On food: they have the you-pick charcuterie which they plate in a gorgeous way, but more interesting perhaps is that they experiment across seasons with their offerings. From hot, artisanal pizzas in their custom pizza oven, to insanely delicious sandwiches, to members-only events with grilled meats and entrees from scratch.
Finally, I followed their progress online and visited CMR’s tasting room on opening weekend years ago. I can confirm that what I’ve said is true across seasons, staff, wine releases, etc. Anytime I’m hosting guests, I make sure we build in time for a CMR visit because Im proud to share it with them and because I know they’ll be well cared for and have a wonderful, relaxing and enjoyable experience.
