The Best Mexican Restaurants in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Regulars to this Marietta Mexican restaurant tout the friendly service, not to mention the food, margaritas, and mojitos from the bar here. Start off with the aptly named El Trio: a trio of guacamole, queso, and salsa paired with fresh chips. Next, order the braised pork burrito, carne asada plate served with rice, beans, and corn tortillas, or the chorizo torta garnished with lettuce, tomato, and pickled jalapenos. The restaurant also includes a selection of breakfast dishes." - Eater Staff

Best Margaritas in Atlanta | Eater Atlanta

"Start off a meal at Castia with the El Trio — a trio of guacamole, queso, and salsa paired with fresh chips — before diving into a meaty braised pork burrito, carne asada plate served with rice, beans, and corn tortillas, or the chorizo torta garnished with lettuce, tomato, and pickled jalapenos. Margaritas come by the glass or pitcher and include both classic and Texas styles or flavored with strawberry, pineapple chile, guava, and mango." - Eater Staff

Everything was hand made and so good. The food quality was way up compared to similar competitors. The sever was beyond great and nice. The restaurant was really neat and I like the unique location. A 10/10 experience.

Google
My husband is from Arizona and loves that style of burrito that’s mostly meat with some pico, fajita veggies, or guac inside a house-made flour tortilla. Not a bunch of filler like beans and rice. You can get that here or build your own. The flour tortillas are made in-house, the salsas are fresh, the drinks are good, and I like the discada (steak, chorizo, and bacon) meat option for the tacos. The birria consomé is delicious and flavorful (a lot of them are bland in this area). This will definitely become one of our more regular places because they also have huevos rancheros and chilaquiles, which my husband loves.

Google
Had the shredded beef Mexican style tacos, birria broth, and churros. Everything was delicious, including the chips and salsa. It is a little pricy though, $13.50 for three tacos. Had it been 4, the price would have been more appropriate. $5.99 for four 4-5inch churros seems a little steep too, and $3.99 for what looked like around 6oz of birria broth. Everything was delicious, but the prices need to come down a little for me to go here more.

Amazing authentic Mexican food! Excellent service and a great atmosphere! This place is the best yet! Delicioso!!

Google
Honestly, I hate to sing this gem’s praises because all you peeps will start taking over my seat at the bar 😉😂❤️; however, I love this restaurant. We’ve been coming for 2 yrs. We’ve tasted about every dish on their menu. Casita Mexican Kitchen is the BEST in Marietta. The menu may appear small but the science behind it is so that the slow roasting savory flavor is soaked in every dish. Recently they received 100 score. 🤩 Birria Tacos!! Camarónes Empanadas!! Machaca Platter!! Casita will be the closest I will ever experience to having a Hispanic grandmother. I recommend you visit so you too can taste the love.

Google
REALLY good burritos and tacos that are always a treat, however they are a bit pricey so its more of a splurge when we go here. They also have a great staff and it is one of the nicer Mexican restaurants in the area. The drive through is a great perk as well!

Google
I ordered the chicken quesadillas and added shrimp. It was extremely overpriced compared to other Mexican restaurants but I was fine with that expecting the quality to be good. The chicken was mushy and not grilled or prepared fresh. It had a sour taste to it. The shrimp was small and also not fresh. The margarita was good but the food was not. They also charge for basic sides like lettuce. Which at most places you expect the salad (lettuce, sour cream, tomato) to come with the meal. I just was very disappointed in the quality of food. For a $43 lunch, it should be fresh and excellent.

Google
The veggie quesadilla is amazing if you're vegetarian..the drinks are good, specifically the guava margarita, and not watered down. The girls at the bar will flirt with you if you need attention. I'm new to the area but have been here 4 times already, my new favorite spot!

Yelp
Service, ambiance and food was all great. We just moved back to the area and wanted a great Mexican restaurant that serves great food. My husband said the Chicken Mole was perfect it was made the correct way. We will return!

Yelp
Service was A1 from the time I walked in. Food was fresh to order and everything was flavorful. Drinks are on point and good and strong. Music is going so the vice is nice! Hidden gem for sure! My server was Leslie... she was amazing!

Yelp
My brother has been here all the time but it was my first time trying it and omg it was soooo good! Our server was so nice and the service was quick! I ordered the 3 birria tacos and omg yall 10/10! i dipped it in the queso and the meat broth and it was SPECTACULAR! It was raining outside so we had to sit inside but the music they played was amazing! I will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Our new favorite locatio. Have tried multiple meals all have been amazing. Perfect little authentic gem.

Yelp
Very nice place to just get some Mexican. Opt for the soft tacos over the crunchy. If you are looking for good drinks maybe just stick with shots if you want to taste alcohol.

Yelp
Quick service- Expensive and Mediocre food. The queso has no depth and just salty and watery. The "manager" of the establishment, was also the waitress. Erick needs more training on customer service. Ground beef is unseasoned and served on only corn tortillas. They have "American style" but don't serve flour- which is fine, but should be stated. Kindly asked to return meal, as my kid would not eat it.. he said "no, and that's just what we have" He came and took it and just returned with the receipt. Could have been handled in a much better way.

Yelp
I love the taco T location! I was definitely unimpressed here. I had to create my own veggie dish here and it was edible but not enjoyable. My wife ordered the huevos rancheros and it was drenched in sauce. Nothing like the picture. The tortilla was soggy and the entire dish was something that she just couldn't eat. I hate leaving bad reviews.

Yelp
We came back and I am glad we did. I ordered off the breakfast menu. I chose the Plata De Machaca. It's shredded beef with onions and it is covered by scrambled eggs. I will admit it is not much to look at but it was really good. The beef was so tender and flavorful. The scrambled eggs were like a cozy blanket that keep the beef hot the entire meal. My wife ordered the chicken soup. It was a step up from a can, but a small one. The chicken was good, but the broth and the bag of frozen mixed veggies was not so much. The trio is always a good way to start the meal.

Yelp
Great family run restaurant. Home made tortillas. Clean and modern with fantastic service. The fajitas are amazing.

Yelp
I drove by here a few times and decided to try it. I went for lunch and they are working on the road and that may discourage some but please go anyway as there was almost nobody there! Thats the worst thing is to have the city do this to a restaurant. I ordered a pork burrito lunch. It was very good. Also service was good from a nice young lady. I opted for both red and green chili sauce and she even brought a third. All were good!

Yelp
Such a disappointment! Everybody told us how good this place was, but warned us that it was expensive. Well, it wasn't good, yet it was expensive. We started out with chips and salsa. The chips were very bland, and the salsa was ridiculously spicy. I say that as someone who loves spicy food, but it was just too spicy that it overwhelmed the flavor. We ordered some guacamole. It tasted fresh, but the amount of lime was overkill. Once again, served with the same bland chips. We then ordered chicken enchiladas, and were told when we ordered it that they were more traditional than normal enchiladas. I'm not sure what meant, but we got a plate with rice and beans, plus a flat tortilla, layered with a red sauce, onions and a slab of bland chicken on top. The only thing we liked was the Coke Zero. Suffice to say we won't be going back.

Yelp
Came here for dinner tonight and had an enjoyable meal! We started off with the Dip Trio (guacamole, Queso, salsa, and chips) which is really more of a dip duo bc the salsa and chips come complementary to the table anyway. I enjoyed the Queso and the guac definitely tasted homemade (lots of cilantro, which I love!) the salsa definitely has a bit of a kick to it, and the chips are super thin and crispy. We also split an order of the birria tacos, which came out piping hot, but very tasty and with Nice beautiful cheese pull to boot! For my entree, I got the enchiladas with chicken, which ended up being the most unique way I've ever had enchiladas. Rather than the pulled chicken being stuffed inside the enchiladas, the enchiladas were just stuffed with cheese, and then topped with really thinly cooked chicken breast. I definitely wasn't what I was expecting but it was delicious nonetheless. Our server was also super friendly and very attentive and kept our water glasses full the whole time... great little neighborhood spot!

Yelp
Decided to try out this new place based on reviews and photos. The restaurant is nice however it seemed like the A/C wasn't working. The music needs to be a little more upbeat. As for the food, the chips and salsa were excellent. My wife ordered tacos, which were very bland. The chicken didn't taste like chicken. I ordered a chicken and steak fajita. Again the very bland and the chicken didn't look like chicken. the steak looked very pale and bland. They also didn't have any sweet tea I wouldn't re visit this restaurant not recommended it.

Yelp
Great food. Great atmosphere. Great service! I started with queso and a blackberry mojito. The queso was creamy and thick. But still dipable. Salsa was a bit spicy for my taste, but had good flavor. THE CARNE ASADA wow. Probably the best I've ever had. The seasoning on it was rocking my world in the best way possible. The rice, guacamole, pico, and sautéed onions with the black beans were perfect sides. It's served with corn or four tortillas. I got both to try them! I think their all homemade. The flour ones had a nice texture with out being overly bready, and the corn was thick enough to not disintegrate in my hands. Service was great and the decor was fun. Highly recommend this place for couples, groups, families... everyone, really!

Yelp
Delicious drinks and amazing food. Chilaquiles 10/10. The inside gives hacienda vibes!

Yelp
Authentic as it gets ! If you do not like REAL Mexican food this place may not be for you. Every bite of every thing on the menu has an explosion of authentic Mexican flavor.

Amanda H.

Yelp
FOH is severely understaffed. Our original server forgot she sat us at our table and told us as much. Waited 30 minutes for a couple of drinks when another server walked up and told us we "seemed mad". We ended up leaving. Very weird vibe from the few staff they had

Sherrion L.

Yelp
Consistent and Friendly Service, Great Food and Drinks! My Family goes weekly! Super Clean!

Gladys E.

Yelp
Came here just on a whim I'm glad I did. I cannot remember the last time I had a big smile when eating here The salsa was actually freshly made and spicy . I order a Carné Asada plate I was just enjoying my food I'm from El Paso Texas When the told me they make their own Flour tortillas I had them with my food This place I a gem the customer service was very friendly I bought a dozen of Flour tortillas and took some salsa to make me some breakfast burritos I will definitely will be back
google avatar

S D.

Yelp
My first time here and it was delicious! The service is great, the staff are super nice, and it's very clean. The salsa has a great spice, and the margaritas are perfect. I had the beef birria tacos and OH MY GoSH, they were so delicious. I will dream about them until I make it back.
google avatar

SaiAnni H.

Yelp
The Mexican style tacos were everything. Not only were they authentic and filling, but they also weren't too heavy. The customer service was great. I will definitely visit again!
google avatar

Allison L.

Yelp
The food was pretty good. We had queso, fajitas, barria tacos, and the kids got chicken fingers and fries. It was a slow afternoon so we assumed it would be a quick in and out. Our food came out bit by bit. We had ordered a side of fries that never came (until after we had received the bill). We asked to have the fries removed since we didn't have the time to eat them. Looking at the check again we noticed that two other meals had been added that we didn't order. Just seemed like a whole mess. Not a terrible meal, but I wouldn't come back.

Lorrie E.

Yelp
This is the best Mexican food in Marietta. The chips and salsa is fresh and spicy. The chicken mole with chocolate is so moist and melts in your mouth. The strawberry margarita with Casamigro tops the meal. This is a must stop.
google avatar

Yelp
Mango martini is incredibly refreshing and delicious. Food is 5 star. We've been to this place 4 times in past two weeks since finding it. Amazing!!
google avatar

Laura Beth D.

Yelp
Super yummy Mexican restaurant! Felt more authentic than many other Mexican restaurants around Marietta. The tacos al pastor were some of the most flavorful I've had in the area. Margaritas were very good; I recommend upgrading to Herradura or other top shelf tequila. Friendly and fast service. Will definitely be going back!

Kelly G.

Yelp
We tried Casita Mexican Kitchen today and really enjoy it! The service was fast and friendly, the restaurant appeared to be clean, and the food was yummy. We had the barrio chicken tacos and the burrito pastor. Oh and the salsa they serve with chips was so fresh and flavorful, we really enjoyed that. Our server also brought a red and a green hot sauce to have with our meal and they were both good but the green was our favorite. You can definitely tell the salsas are freshly made!! We will definitely return when we are in the area!!
google avatar

Kenneth O.

Yelp
Everything here is amazing. Best margaritas ever. Service was very good. Has indoor and outdoor seating. Tacos were spectacular. Breakfast menu is available all day.

G S.

Yelp
Authentic Mexican freshly prepared cuisine. The salsa is incredible but you must love spicy. The bar program is top notch serving premium crafted cocktails. Street tacos are divine especially el pastor. Perfect service at the bar with a totally new construction buildout and great ambiance. You can't miss the attention to detail in this off the Marietta Square location with plenty of parking. From the expert creators of Taco T's. Check them out!!
google avatar

Charles B.

Yelp
Great food, quick service, helpful staff. One of the best taco restaurants I've been to in a long time.
google avatar

Gavy B.

Yelp
A delicious meal on seis de mayo! Margaritas were a little too sweet for our taste, but all of the food tasted fresh and flavorful. Birria tacos are decadent. Great hangover food! The beef broth it comes with is sooo tasty. Chicken enchiladas are different with the pounded flat chicken on top of the enchilada - but still delicious. The trio dip is a little odd as one third of the trio is the red salsa that you get for free, but all three dips are solid. Chips are thin and crispy. This is going to be my new spot when I'm craving Mexican food.
google avatar

Kay C.

Yelp
Yummy steak quesadillas! Great salsa. The chips were unfortunately CHEWY. Might have been the time of day, not sure. A friend had a taco with a crispy, fresh shell so there is a chance it was just an old undercooked batch. Margaritas were good. A variety of Jarritos to choose from! The staff was very nice! The prices were reasonable. It was very clean inside and out!
google avatar

Tessa V.

Yelp
I was in the mood for Mexican, and boy oh boy did this cute authentic restaurant hit the spot. From the chips and salsa (so FRESH tasting and nice kick) to the margarita (mango was so FIRE! )to the entrees (birria tacos, burrito, tacos, chicken and fries, rice and beans)...EVERYTHING was so GOOOOOOODT!!! I'm coming back for sure. Next time I'll take pics :-)

Jill F.

Yelp
We came back for dinner and truly enjoyed it. The salsa is spicy and delicious as was the guacamole. I had the Birria tacos with chicken based on what my husband saw on other Yelp reviews and they were delicious! He had the steak Enchilada Montadas and that was okay. We will be back.
google avatar

Terri D.

Yelp
Wonderful food!! Tacos De Birroa was Exceptional !! All of flavor had a soup with it was so good and shredded beef with melted cheese !! My son had Fajitas Texanas very flavorful slice very thin and even the peppers and onions were awesome lots of flavor !!!

Laurie L.

Yelp
The food was absolutely delish, the Birria tacos were probably the best I've ever had! Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and overall great food!! We will definitely come back if in the area again. Visiting from Florida.

Diane C.

Yelp
Best Birria tacos!! Margaritas are pretty great too! Staff is always friendly and helpful.
google avatar

Amee D.

Yelp
Best Mexican food in town. Service was awesome. Jalapeños are in everything, they like it hot.
google avatar

Christine H.

Yelp
Can't stress enough how good this place is!!! Don't let the empty parking lot fool you, it's an absolute blessing. I lived in San Antonio for years, and haven't had good Mexican food since I left. My hubby got the Mole chicken. I got the Mexican style burrito with chorizo. They were both phenomenal! Our kiddo got a kid's chicken quesadilla and even it was pretty amazing. The salsas, chips and cocktails were also on point. Perfect amount of flavor and spice. Go to Casita and TREAT YO'SELF!!!
google avatar

Christine H.

Yelp
Sorry no photos-enjoyed the food in a fog of deliciousness! Chips were thin, crispy and HOT! Salsa, just the right bit of spice. Queso was like a warm hug of cheese and buttery goodness. Birria taco special was juicy, flavorful and not greasy. I have a food temperature issue -not here. Everything came out hot, fresh and ready to enjoy. My husband's American burrito was huge and perfect for the picky eater he is. Mojito is fashioned after those created in Cancun. Not the tacky, touristy area. You can taste the thought and hard work that went into the exact recipe. Going back to the Birria tacos -only available on the weekend---GO!!! Churros-perfect! Service-Chelsea was perfect! Food portions-generously perfect! The chef is either world renowned or someone's Grandma straight from her Mexican kitchen. So many Mexican restaurants to choose from in this area...no more. Thank you!!
google avatar

Vince R.

Yelp
Wandered in tonight with my wife just to take a look and found a warm wonderful experience. The service was excellent and the drinks were delicious. We each had a margarita and both were perfect. We were enjoying ourselves so we stayed and split a quesadilla. It was huge and easily fed both of us. Everything we had was fresh and delicious. This was a great find in our neighborhood and we definitely plan on becoming regulars.
google avatar

Kimberly A.

Yelp
Came to this restaurant with my husband after visiting diver's supply to pick up some dive gear. Authentic, Mexican cuisine that was some of the freshest I have ever had. Quick, friendly, service that was not too fast like many Mexican establishments I visit- I like to sip on my Margarita and enjoy my chips, salsa, and queso before getting to my main foodie dish!! I had a burrito and my husband had the Carne Asada! super delicious!! Even though we do not live on this side of town we will be back- i was so into my food i forget to get a picture of it, but if you visit you will not be disappointed!!
google avatar

angela b.

Yelp
Good food. Excellent and friendly service. Fresh salsa. Margarita mix was a little too sweet for our taste. Great bartender who was willing to try and make whatever you want. The carne asada meat was very thin but it had good flavor. We would go back.

Eshin G.

Yelp
Food was pretty good but service was mediocre. Waiter spilled part of my drink. Had to ask several times about queso. Also took 5-10 minutes to be seated with not a lot of customers there.
google avatar

Calia H.

Yelp
My bestie and I came to Casita's on Cinco de Mayo! Although the wait was quite lengthy, the quality of service and amazing food definitely made up for the wait time! From the second we were seated, Edgar was so kind, attentive, and helpful. He convinced me to try the burrito de destic and I'm so glad I did! I ordered the burrito American style -lettuce, cheddar, and sour cream, as well as the a la Mexicana style-onions, tomatoes, and jalapeños. The flavor was outstanding, and I've never had a Mexican burrito quite like that before. I order a side of white rice, which was also delicious and cooked to perfection. Make sure you ask for the verde salsa! It's so delicious on top of the burrito/rice. My friend ordered the tacos, which she also really enjoyed. The margaritas we perfect as well, and don't skip out on the salted rim! Overall, this place is truly a Marietta gem, and I can't wait to return to try other dishes on their menu!

Jake T.

Yelp
Give Casita's a try, you will not be disappointed. Went on a Thursday evening and a little slow but you can tell their business is growing. The customer service was great. The food was outstanding! Nice decor and atmosphere. Back to the food- everything from the salsa to the cocktails are made fresh and delicious and seems authentic style Mexican! Had passed this place so many times, hate it took me so long to try this gem!

Jennifer R.

Yelp
We went to this location for the first time tonight. We walked in and had 6 people and a toddler. We asked to sit on the patio and were told by the server that we couldn't move the patio tables because they had an experience from the past that was bad, and girls work there and the tables were too heavy to move. We decided to sit inside because we were hungry. They sat us in the back and we ordered drinks that were fine-mostly beer- hard to mess up. There were a couple issues I had in ordering, myself working in the food industry. Someone I was with asked if they could spice up the mole a little bit- we were told no because it was previously made and put together. Spice isn't hard to add to a dish. Second, another person I was with asked if we could have a side of mole, no matter the charge. Immediately we were told no. Any person who goes out to eat or has worked in a restaurant knows that an "open food" item is normal, especially if the dish is "previously made and put together". Maybe our expectations were too high. The food was good but wish this place was more accommodating to their guests. Most likely won't be back.
google avatar

Geordie J.

Yelp
Awesome spot just south of the Square with legit, homemade margaritas, GIGANTIC burritos and great service. I've been here a few times now and haven't had a bad meal. The quesadillas are the best value on the menu, and being able to select which type you want is cool: Mexican, American or whatever the third option is dope. Don't let the awful road construction dissuade you. Do it!

Steve L.

Yelp
This place is the bomb! Best Mexican food we have ever had including Texas , where we lived. The drinks are off the chart , a true mixology menu. Oddly enough, the best sour cream ever!! Fajitas are fabulous. We just tried the quesadilla and yep that kicked it too!! Please check them out and support this local business. We must give them the love
google avatar

Carlos C.

Yelp
We've been keeping an eye on this place for a while, since the sign has been up for some time. It doesn't look like much from the outside (I believe it's a Dairy Queen from long ago). But wow - we were very pleasantly surprised when we stepped inside. We've been three times now and have been pleased each time. The food, the drinks, the service and the atmosphere (cozier than it looks from outside) are all excellent. We've had burritos, tacos, fajitas, and quesadillas- all good. Great homemade tortillas and the chips and salse are delicious. We will keep coming back, for sure. Great addition to a part of town overrun by shady tire shops.

Liam D.

Yelp
Out of the food we went for, and could not make a margarita (ANY margarita) because they were out of mix.. what Mexican restaurant only uses margarita mix for their margaritas?..
