"If you want something you can finish all by yourself, you can get a “mini machete” for $6 at Casita Nicole, a trailer at a Texaco parking lot on Manchaca in South Austin. But the regular-size machetes here cost $10-$11. Whichever size you pick, they all come with white cheese and two fillings of your choosing, and you’ll find standards like pastor, campechano, or tinga. But they also have some ingredients you might not find at the other spots on this list, including huitlacoche and squash blossoms (sometimes they sell the flowers separately). We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Google
This place has been great always. I’m so glad they moved closer to my house! Very affordable, large portions and friendly staff. Can’t go wrong here!

Google
Best Place, EVER! Been coming here for years & the new look is amazing. Food is the BEST! Prices are very reasonable. They're known for their "machete" tacos & they're so delicious. My fave's the all veggies mini machete & it's flavorful & A LOT for a "mini".

Google
Been meaning to try this place out, the food was really good. Cute little set up. Next to the gas station. Service was ok, they just took our order and gave it to us. No hello, or how are you, or ty for coming. They seemed.to be having a conversation of thier own. But..what can't complain about the food.

Stephanie Bejarano

Google
Pretty great place. The food truck has a covered seated area, which was nice. I did get the mini machete. (there’s a photo next to my hand, it’s huge! And it’s the mini!) Service was fast :)

Google
The food at this truck is really quite good! We had the Machete with fajita chicken and beef, the Wero's fries and two Aguas Frescas. For two people that was plenty. Friendly service too. We'll be back here for sure.

Google
Had the Monster breakfast tacos and it was one of the best breakfast tacos I've had in South Austin. The size of a burrito and filled with eggs, potatoes, cheese, chorizo, bacon, beans all for $5. Can't wait to come back and check out the rest of their menu. Super friendly folks as well.

Google
We came from Dallas to the Besame Mucho Fest ,and my boyfriend found this 💎 100% RECOMMENDED. I had a blue machete de chicharron prensado and floor de calabaza. I loved it! My boyfriend had a breakfast one with egg, chorizo and potatoes and he loved it too!!! They're BIG. I tried to finish mine, but I couldn't 😆

Google
My first Machete experience! These tacos are so unique and very large. The salsas were so tasty and helped enhance the tacos! Chicken Tinga was 10/10 - and Campechano was also so tasty. Highly recommend!

Cristobal M.

Yelp
For both of these, including tip, came out to about $40. We went on a Saturday afternoon, and there was no wait. Service was friendly, and food came out 5-10 min after ordering. My fiance and I could not finish both, and we have big appetites. You'll def have lunch for the next day! The pastor wasn't the best imo, I've had better, but I would not be upset if I had another burrito de pastor from here. It came with 4 salsas (2 green/2 red), which were great, but for the amount of food that comes, I was hoping for a little more salsa. Would def go back, but probably would stick to the burrito. 4/5

Yelp
Loved this place so much. Unassuming but great food. Had a lovely breakfast there. Prices were very affordable for the portions and quality of food.

Amanda P.

Yelp
Everything I've ever eaten here has been delicious and the portions are more than generous. I've had the machete vegetarian taco and the torta and regular tacos and all of them have been excellent and flavorful and fresh. I've also had several agua frescas and they're delicious too. This is a great go to restaurant for our family and now that it has a full covered area to sit with fans, it's even easier to visit in the summer and even more pleasant to stay and eat instead of just getting it to go.

Bill G.

Yelp
One of the few places that you can reliably find huitlacoche in Austin. I had a machete with huitlacoche on one half, and pumpkin blossoms (Flor de Calabaza ) on the other, and it was extremely good and freshly-prepared. For one person, I would recommend a "mini" machete.

Ryan R.

Yelp
Really cool taco place that's off the beaten path.. wouldn't even really know such a gem was there because it looks very low key! They seem to have the usual tacos, burritos, quesadillas that you would expect from this type of cuisine but would highly recommend checking out their machete. The machete is con 2 ingredients, you pick 2 different meats and they prepare it with each side of the machete a different meat. Opted for 1/2 beef fajita and 1/2 camaron. Amazing on both but esp the shrimp! Hands-down a great tasting machete taco and makes for some good pics!

Slavizza G.

Yelp
The machetes here are the best I've found in ATX, great salsa verde and aguas frescas, our favorite taco is the chicharrón prensado , quick service and small little shack , obvio hablan español :)

Bea C.

Yelp
This place had excellent customer service. Super nice and helpful. I had the chorizo with huevo taco in a flour tortilla. It was a bit salty. (It can be me, because I dont eat super salty food) Salsa verde was good! I also had a pastor huarache. It was so big ! I didn't finish it. It was very good, loved the little pineapple chunks. My sister had the agua de coco it was delish! I would totally go back and get a big cup of that. ( I had coffee from somewhere else, that's why I didnt order and agua.) Overall everyone enjoyed their food. WARNING: Half the machete is still big.

Dupes D.

Yelp
Delicious food! massive portions, reasonably priced! What more could you ask for? My wife had the chicken burrito and she couldn't even finish one half and it was very tasty! I got the chicken machete it also was delicious they sauté and brown the meat prior to constructing the oversized corn taco crispy and chewy cheesy and delicious again I could only take down half! Authentic Mexican food. You won't be disappointed! Wish they had carnitas.

Dallan E.

Yelp
I'm going to go ahead and stick with the consistent 5-star review. I think it is about a 7.5/10 overall, pero the service es bueno y los machetes están muy rico. Give this place a shot, the green sauce is typical, good and not out of the ordinary. I only tried the mini machete, which is enough for one person that isn't obese.... You get choice of 2 toppings. Cheesy and tortilla is possibly house-made. The pastor is better than most places in austin for a food truck and the carne asada is also good. When I first tried the red sauce with the pastor y carne asada, I was not a fan. A little too bland, pero exprime un poco de lima y ¡te pega! Support this local joint, they got something going on.

Eric R.

Yelp
Had been craving huitlacoche quesadillas and flor de calabaza quesadilla for several years. This place came through and delivered with flying colors. For those two things alone, I'd give 10 stars. Wife and kid split a machete. I stole a bite and that was and incredibly well executed dish that I would recommend to anyone. The agua de mango was a very generous size and my kid loved that, too. First time here but definitely will not be the last. I recommend this place with full confidence!

Jan S.

Yelp
I am always more than satisfied with the food at Casita Nicole. The ingredients always taste fresh and everything is flavorful and prepared to order. Always friendly service. I only wished I didn't live 45 miles away.

Eric G.

Yelp
Got takeout from here the other day. Ordered over the phone and picked up at the food truck - a pretty easy process and they were on time. Tried three things here: - machete: i feel like this is what they're known for so definitely try it! I maybe made the mistake of getting two meats, so while it was good, i feel like it was missing veggies or something. It's a ton of food though so absolutely worth it! Maybe just try with meat + veggies? - torta: it was good, though a little heavy on the dressing for my taste. - Pambazo: if you're getting a sandwich i preferred this over the torta. More flavorful and less heavy on the dressing. If you're in the area give this place a try and I'm sure you won't regret it :)

Ricardo A.

Yelp
This place is awesome! The staff is friendly and the food is amazing. If you go here, you have got to try the machete and also their fresh fruit waters or Aguas Frescas, the cucumber one is the best! Not too sweet and not fake powder either, taste fresh and natural. Highly recommend this place! If they would only deliver then it would get 10 stars haha

Julia S.

Yelp
Good food! It looks like not much, but it is worth the visit! The food was authentic - and the agua Fresca strawberry was a hit on a hot day. Would casita again!!

Samuel C.

Yelp
Everyone so far has given Casita Nicole Antojitos Mexicanos five stars. I am giving Casita Nicole Antojitos Mexicanos five stars. You are probably going to be giving Casita Nicole Antojitos Mexicanos five stars. So will your mother, your father, the guy who fixes your car, your cat and your dog. The place is that good. * * * Three Headline Stories about Casita Nicole's. One. Lots and lots of people want to eat at Casita Nicole's. There was a non-stop line of customers waiting at her truck. Nearly all of them were working class Mexicans. They were not only there because the food is cheap and good. They were there because you can get Mexican dishes at Casita Nicole's you can't get anywhere else. This last point is huge. Two. Casita Nicole's is tied with Wasota on North Loop for having the ugliest location for a food truck in Austin. It is located on the side of the Quick-C Convenience store on Menchaca. The parking lot is already kind of downscale and grungy. Worse, The Quick-C Convenience store dumps all of its junk right next to the tables where you eat. (Nothing organic or unsafe. Just lots of metal trash.) Casita Nicole's itself has limited dumpster access so some of her own packing boxes for food supplies have to be stuck off to the side. So you can take as a given that the view won't be pretty. You are here to eat, not to look at the landscape. The food will more than make up for the marginal scenery. Three. She has some standard items on her menu. But most of what she has here are Mexico City and other Central Mexican specialties you don't get at other places in Austin. Machetes. Pambazos. Flor de Calabaz. Huarache. Plus she tosses in a few custom recipes like her own versions of hamburgers and her own version of topped French fries. I had a Pambazo de Pollo that was absolutely sensational. This is a toasted torta with the spice and fire right in the torta. The spice and fire is also right in the chicken ... and no there is not a single jalapeno in sight. The fire comes from other redder chiles with more body and more gusto. Add really good queso fresco and fresh vegetables on top And you have an awesome sandwich. Mine would have been a mess to eat just picking it up (Although I guess this is what the other customers do). I forked and knifed it which was fine. I was in a supreme state of Mexican food happiness. My lovely wife is not a big fan of Mexican food and almost never eats out of food trucks. She thought her fish taco was extremely superior. * * * Arguably, this is one of the finest Mexican food trucks in Austin. To be fair, I have hundreds more to eat at before I can make a definitive statement on the matter. However, I have eaten at a lot of them, and Casita Nicole's is definitely the current winner. T-Loc's Sonoran Hot Dogs would be the other winner - and T-Loc's is a niche place that pretty much concentrates on hot dogs and burritos. Casita Nicole's is a place you could take out of town visitors who want to get the Mexican food they can't get at home. You will have to warn them in advance about the downscale funky ambience. But if they can work with a convenience store parking lot with trash, They get the right to eat supremely supremely well.

Yelp
Comida súper rica y atienden muy bien ! Good food and great service , definitely recommend!

Dan R.

Yelp
Great Mexican food truck. I recommend the burritos, there all great. Drinks are large and tasty. Stop in, you'll thank me.

Emiley P.

Yelp
After seeing some giant tacos (as I later learned are called machetes) on Instagram a few times, I had to check this place out! Can you believe? Literally 5 minutes from my house are some tasty eats I've driven by daily without stopping. Casita Nicole is your standard taco truck in the corner of a gas station parking lot. They do have a couple of picnic tables set up outside for you to enjoy your meal, or take it to-go. I ordered a machete, half and half al pastor and deshebrada (shredded beef). As expected, I was served a grilled taco about the length of my arm. The machete is easily a 2-for-1 meal. For me, the real star was the al pastor meat and the tortilla itself. Incredibly filling and tasty. The shredded beef was good, but not as flavorful as the al pastor. I have my eye on the beef fajita to try next!

Brooke K.

Yelp
The machetes are absolutely incredible!! I don't know what is in the red sauce, but we couldn't get enough of it. They should bottle and sell it.

Amanda P.

Yelp
Just wanted to say, as an addition to my previous review, that this food truck is open on Sundays! I went there today with my whole family and we arrived around 10am and she was open for business. I'm hoping she updates Yelp soon so people know she's open on Sundays! Just thought I'd pass that along!

Michael W.

Yelp
I hate doing this to a place who's food is so wonderful, but y'all deserve 3 stars or less for your inconsistent hours. I've traveled 20min+ twice now to get your food and you've been closed when your hours state other wise. Y'all have lost my business. Great food when it's available, but unless you're right down the street, don't rely on this truck.

Erin G.

Yelp
I needed a super quick bite to eat - something close but also not some fast food chain, and this is the closest place to my house. I saw all the comments about how amazing their machetes are, and I'm definitely going to try one some day, but couldn't face a lunch coma while trying to get a bunch of stuff done today. I called in an order for an Al Pastor Taco and also asked if they could do a Chicken Tinga Taco as well. My order was ready in 10 minutes, and both tacos were DELICIOUS! $6 for two stuffed-to-the-max tacos? Yes please! Their red and green salsa are also scrumptious. So glad I decided to make this last minute choice over TC or some other garbage!! Will definitely be back for lunch, and am looking forward to breakfast as well!

Amelia T.

Yelp
This is the Monster taco from Casita Nicole and does NOT disappoint! It's huge, stuffed with all the goodness (bacon egg chorizo beans cheese) and homemade tortilla and fresh salsa. I have yet to try anything else on the menu bc I can't get over how delicious the monster is. I'll want to try the lunch menu soon, everything looks good. This place is definitely worth a try, it's my new favorite taco place in Austin, hands down. Note: This is a food truck located near the Texaco on Manachca before Slaughter.

Steve H.

Yelp
This place is fantastic for value and flavor! Had the Machacete half chicharone verde and half barbacoa, wife had pastor tacos, both were outstanding. Can't wait to try the monster breakfast taco next time!

Leah G.

Yelp
Delicious!! The machetes are the thing to get. Tried the pastor and chicken that were fantastic. The aqua Fresca is amazing too (they have hibiscus, guava, and mango). A food truck next to a gas station with picnic tables. Service is great and the salsas in the side very tasty. Highly recommended. Just found our new go to spot.

Bee 2.

Yelp
The food is delicious and generous portions. I had the mini barbacoa machete and it was still about 18" long. I also had the Wero's fries. The combination of toppings was great although I wish it had a little more jalapeños. And I had the mango aguas frescos. My total was $20 but I had enough for 2 meals.

Gabriel A.

Yelp
This venture, Casita Nicole Antojitos Mexican got more than few great dishes!!! Check them in!!!

Jerry E.

Yelp
Breakfast Monster Taco is a BEAST!! It's all I've ever ordered...and probably all I'll ever want to order in the future! It cost $3.00 and worth every penny! It is Delicious, Stupendous, and Gianormous!

Allie G.

Yelp
Did I just die?!? How amazing is their Monster taco? The salsa was so fresh and delicious and everything in the taco was hot and scrumptious. I can't believe this great taco truck has been so close to my house this whole time! Highly HIGHLY recommend!!!

Leslye S.

Yelp
The food is so fresh & delicious!! There is so much proteins in the machetes. You can call an order in for pickup.

Alexandria D.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious and one of my new favorite meals in Austin. You can also do half and half meat options in the machete ($13)!

Kev G.

Yelp
Must have went to the wrong place or got the wrong thing. The tacos absolutely sucked!! The tortillas were NOT homemade and the meats were tough. Skip this place and go somewhere else.

John F.

Yelp
Love the manchettos! So delicious and they're homemade corn. She was super nice and really helped us out even as it started to rain. The beef fatijas and chicken fajitas were super good.

B H.

Yelp
We ordered two King Kong burritos and they were not only excellent but also BIG (one King Kong burrito is big enough to feed two adults). The barbacoa burrito was perfect and the carne asasa burrito was definitely our favorite. We're already looking forward to returning!

Amanda K.

Yelp
This spot is amazing. A total gem for south Austin! We loved the machete with desebrada and carne asada. My friend went crazy for the quesadilla huitlacoche. The food is amazing. a great price, and not to be missed! Come hungry!

Ali K.

Yelp
One of my fav loncheras anywhere and that includes LA and Mexico. First time I have ever had a machete or cuitlacoche. This place is real deal. If you're looking for the same old migas . . . you are missing out on the goods. They serve it up homemade here, so expect a bit of a wait but still very reasonable for Austin Taco Truck standards. I'm still thinking about the Carne Deshrebeda right now and the salsa are solid too . . .

Mark H.

Yelp
Just finished most of one half of a grilled chicken machete. Wow! Delicious! The other half of the machete was shrimp. We also tried a beef fajita taco. All were much enjoyed. Great value. Excellent taste. Definitely worth a regular visit.

Cory T.

Yelp
I finally discovered this place and I'm really glad I did! But it took a while. I've driven by many, many times but never noticed it - the sign is small so it's a bit hard to see from the road. I tried the pastor burrito (King Kong sized - about the size of 2 burritos. 2 meals ftw!). It was muy delicious! I particularly enjoyed the red salsa, it's spicy and it has a unique flavor that I've never tasted before. Yes, I'm a gringo but also Texan so I've tried many :) I look forward to trying some more interesting things from the menu, which they'll give you when you get to the counter (it's not posted on the truck for some reason, that'd be nice). Help finding it: it's in the parking lot of the Texaco convenience store under a massive billboard, right before the Sonic, and right after the Dollar General.

Claire G.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast tacos and the barbacoa was great! The prices were good and service was quick. I would definitely recommend. Looking forward to coming back and trying the machete!

Krystle U.

Yelp
The chicharron prensado is amazing!!!! The machete is huge and a bit hard to eat but definitely worth it.

Garbiel S.

Yelp
Family owned business. It's delicious everything in the menu looks great and what we ordered was very tasty especially for the price. This is a legit authentic Mexican food truck come support you won't regret it

Tommy S.

Yelp
Amazing Food! Best burrito, King Kong, I've ever had. Breakfast tacos are amazing. Everything is made to order yet they are still very fast.

richard s.

Yelp
Ever had a "machete"? Me neither. Wow. 6 bucks for a foot long "taco", corn tortilla lightly fried with crispy cheese and your choice of many many different meats or veg. For 10 bucks you get regular size , which bends my mind since the "mini" was huge and longer than 1 foot. Lots of things on the menu I didn't have a chance to try like a dozen breakfast and other tacos, "Mexican hamburgers" sopes, tortas, and more. Taco truck in the Texaco lot, about 6 miles out Manchaca. Worth it worth it worth it! I have no idea if this is the "best taco truck in Austin" but It seems the same quality as the famous ones like vera Cruz (which I love)! Enjoy

Tom L.

Yelp
My favorite breakfast tacos. Huge and tasty. The menu looks wonderful too. So many things I want to try. Check them out

Aurora L.

Yelp
Great food!! Agua fresca de pepino took me back to Mexico for a sec ! This is what I call authentic Mexican food!!

Gabriel C.

Yelp
My favorite red salsa in Austin Tx. My gf and I buy extra from here because I haven't been able to find a salsa in stores that is better. This is our current favorite taco truck. Excellent food, friendly service.

Larry E.

Yelp
I have eaten here now a number of times, but still have not made it through all the items offered. While it does have some of the basic items found at other taco trucks, they have some amazing other items that I have not even seen in Austin and only had in Mexico and Central America. The pumpkin flower quesadillas were probably the best I ever had. I am very careful not to come here too often as I do not want to take a chance on loosing interest in the quest for a new flavor. The setup is a little fancier than very basic and the people working there are so kind and enthusiastic that they can put other businesses to shame for their desire to please. THAT my friend kicks this place up from 4 to 5 Stars in my opinion. My recommendation is to just simply pick something you have never had and go from there. The tripas are not quite my style, but they were still pretty darn good. I will continue to return every couple of weeks and I already have what I want in my sights to go into my belly! Well done.

Arielle A.

Yelp
I think I found my new fav spot for tacos I had the monster taco, migas taco, veggies taco & the chicken quesadilla. And all I could think was why haven't I found this place sooner!! It was really good & definitely worth the wait.

Scott E.

Yelp
The machetes are the thing to get. I got 1/2 fish and 1/2 barbecue pork. And I had a delicious cucumber lemonade Agua Fresca. This is my first time here and I'll be coming back again this week and on and on and on and on. Perfect! What a gem!
