The 30 Best Restaurants in Munich, Germany | Eater

"Putting the spotlight on simple spuds at their hugely popular market stall in Viktualienmarkt, Theo Lindinger and Dominik Klier rustle up baked potatoes with toppings that show off the region’s produce and reflect the time of year. (It feels like the unofficial start to the season when the duo releases the shop’s summer or winter menu.) This year’s highlights include the Caesars Sebald with fennel, Parmesan, capers, and flaky smoked fish from Lake Starnberg, as well as the gado-gado with coconut milk, pak choi, and green beans." - Kate Mann

"The highlight stall at Viktualienmarkt is Caspar Plautz, which has a sweet origin story... featuring mashed topinambur topped with creme fraiche, roasted shiitake, and capers, and a baked potato stuffed with feta cream, cucumber, and cilantro."

So many flavors in one bite! Friendly service, fast ordering, so easy. Find a seat on a bench next to a stranger and enjoy super posh potato dishes. The food is unique and fresh with loads of different textures, colors, and flavors with each option - it was honestly hard to choose. Highly recommended.

Delicious, honest, down to earth, warm hidden gem in Munich. The owners have created a small island of hope in otherwise very depressing Munich gastroscene. The star of the show is a potato (not your usual tasteless potato), which is dressed up to create a magnificent main dish. Menu consists of 5+ options - meat, vegetarian, and vegan available. Seating / eating space is limited, but from experience always cleans up after a while so you never wait long. The stock is limited so if you arrive later in the afternoon, some specials may be already gone. All in all, this is my favorite place to eat. Even though I don’t like potatoes.

Fantastic atmosphere inside the market with great potatoes. Exotic flavours with numerous ingredients. If you are vegan, I totally recommend visiting this place. However, something I didn't like was the too little space to sit.

Caspar Plautz is definitely one of my favorite location at the Viktualienmarkt. I like the creatively of the talented chefs and seasonal variation. Sometimes it gets quiet crowded. Highly recommended.

I loved it!!!! The food was really good and the potatoes obviously. I tried the weekly menu which obviously rotates each week ;-) the lamb was so tender and the sauce was well spiced! Definitely recommend it. It’s also nice for tourists to go around and sit outside to get the real “bazar” feeling :)

Be advised, it’s a CASH ONLY vendor! A gem you have to try It’s not only pretty for the gram, it is locally sourced, available without meat and they spice things up with dishes of the day but be warned - after 2pm there is a big chance you get no food anymore / high on demand between 12-13:30 and if you want the special of the day come early as the Germans eat at 1200 😂

Munich local spending his afternoons at Viktualienmarkt and 3- 4 times a week getting a stuffed potato at Caspar Plautz. Regardless of the weather, the atmosphere is special- particularly when it’s raining and you’re eating, while sitting behind the potato display. Mostly locally sourced, expertly prepared, gorgeously arranged on the plate and always a huge selection from vegan to carnivore creations. The KDW keeps Caspar Plautz interesting even for potato Ultras.

Amazing place! The stuffed potato was cheap and very good. It’s a pity they don’t accept payment by card :(
