'Was really excited as my son and I love poutine, and have tried all over Montreal. 'Read Gaston's was one of the best in Quebec City... we saw a couple of local guys order poutine, eating in, they complained politely of cold gravy and was served a new portion... the cook was great, as their sauce cooker was not working properly... cold gravy. So he warmed up the cold gravy in a separate foil platter and reserved them... nice.
We ordered the "grosse" or extra large at $20+, tax in... I watched them give us form the cold cold gravy pot, not heated up... then gave them a chance. The server lady handed it to me and I asked, "la sauce est chaud?" Always speaking in French. She looked at the cook, who avoided her question, she looked back at me and said, "oui"... as we were hungry and in a rush, took our "grosse" poutine and petite frites and headed to our hotel around the corner...
Very disappointed because potions were not generous; there were empty parts of the container, fries didn't fill the paper bag, and on top of it all the fries were over cooked/burnt... we ate it some of it due to hunger, but didn't finish... and possibly hot gravy may have salvaged some of it... our home made sandwiches saved the day... I'm all for second chances....
But for $26.59, a waste of money, McDonald's would have been better prepared food.
Perhaps was a bad day, or poor working team...
