My wife and I ordered a patty melt and a BLT. FANTASTIC! They were both perfectly cooked and delicious! We both agreed they were the best we've ever had! The BLT was LOADED with crisp delicious bacon, and her patty melt with their secret sauce was great! To top it off, we washed them down with a couple ice cold.beers served by a great bartender named Mark. Great service, and a super nice guy. I highly recommend!

Everything I ever wanted in a neighborhood bar, the beverages are amazing, the staff is so much fun, and it's a perfect place to catch up with friends old and new. The location can't be beat, just a short walk to anywhere that you might want to be in the Newport Beach area which is much cheaper than an Uber or a DUI 🤷‍♂️ This is probably the closest thing you'll find to a dive bar in this neighborhood, enjoy! 🍻🥂

This is a great dive bar in Newport. Our bartender was friendly and incredible. She was very attentive and made amazing drink. Ordered their cheese burger and wow . Sooo good

Used to frequent this place 25 years ago and glad to see it still up and running. Never really ate there, just went for stiff drinks and chill dive bar vibes. Dennis Rodman used to go there all the time and buy the crowd a round of shots....good times!

I would’ve loved to give this place a 5 star. Unfortunately I got assaulted last night from the bouncers because I won 6 games of pool. I had to call the police and file a complaint. I would like to speak to a manager and resolve this issue or I will have to proceed with filing a lawsuit. Other than that the bartenders are amazing!!!!!!!!!

If you like crowded dive bars this is a good spot. Close to a lot of other bars. Has pool. Heard the food is good but I wasn’t able to try.

Super divey beach bar with a unique floor plan. The perfect place to abscond from reality with an ice cold pitcher after a long night in Newport Beach. Favorite memory here (I’ve blacked out so many times I don’t remember much) was when I met some Cornell guys while wearing my Columbia hoodie. They talked some smack and then bought me a beer. Highly recommend the photo booth.

Best burgers in California. Chips and hot sauce to go with it and an amazing whiskey selection as well as cheap pool tables. What more could ypu want?

This is the most perfect bar. The bartenders are so great and don't even get me started on the food. I'm not local, so when I'm in town I make it my top priority to come here for a patty melt. This may sound dramatic to some, but if you get it then you get it. To most people it is just a patty melt, but to me it is a beacon of hope and a reminder that there is good in this world. I love it so much that I fly back to AZ with one to-go.

This is your typical dive bar with accent on dive! I Hadn't been here in a minute and hasn't changed at all. I think it actually got dirtier and smaller lol. But the reason you come here is for the dive bar vibe and the hamburgers. So let's talk about the burgers! Hands-down the best patty melt I've had in a long time! Patty melt was a five! The service was what you'd expect, close to nothing unless you're a regular here. Come for the burger and if you're lucky, you get on a pool table or a good spot on the good side. The place is really small! But I will come back for the patty melt!

This place is a dive, just to let you know. A good place to stop for cheap drinks and greasy food. I would personally recommend the burger.

If you're looking for a laid back hole-in-the-wall type of bar, this is your place! Fairly small, but that's not a bad thing. Bartenders were friendly, beer was cold, TVs had sports, and the hamburger was solid. Nothing wrong here. Really not too much to write home about, but I'd go back.

Great atmosphere. Great food. Really good price point considering it's in beautiful Newport Beach. Love coming here with my buddies or a date night.

So I made my second visit here and this time tried the burger which I've heard so much about. And I wasn't let down,I had a cheese burger with avocado and bacon. And wow, what a great tasting juicy burger with plenty of flavor. Apparently all bartenders are trained to cook all the items on the small menu they have. This is a nice little "dive bar" filled with locals constantly coming and going with a nice cool vibe. Everyone was friendly and very attentive, and locals included. Just a cool place to hang out.

I've been around for quite sometime. Tasted many melts many burgers many sandwiches.... Today. My eyes were truly opened.... to the incredible potential that lies inside the humble patty melt. If the cassidys patty melt was a Greek God, it would be Zeus. Today, my tastebuds were shocked into submission. Humbly, my mouth and my soul, bow down to the new king of sandwiches-the Cassidy's patty melt. P.s. get it OG style. It doesn't need anything extra....

Lil local dive bar. Pool tables and Photo Booth. Kick back vibe. Local bike ride. Easy street parking.

Horrible security. My friend was being harassed and I told security about it and they did absolutely nothing. Never ever coming back to this bar. Horrible staff and horrible safety

I love this bar! Everyone is super friendly Christine is amazing super sweet spunky personality I think she's great! All of the bar staff is fun to be around. The burgers are good, beers are cold and the people watching is on point! This is one of my must stop every time I come to town.

Spend large amounts of money in here for some juice head turkey of a door man to have an issue out of nowhere for what he thought was an outside beer. I have watched them serve alcohol after hours for years. Let people with whatever inside. And hire time and time again for man after door man with steroid issues. Lost my business. Last time I deal with this. People you want this service hit Huntington Beach for 1/2 the price. Should be assumed to let someone treat your locals with disrespect. Tiny man uses fake names.

It's been over 10 years since I've been here. Actually, I don't think Yelp existed then. Nothing has changed! I love it! Cold beer, great burgers and cool peeps. Their infamous burgers still taste BomB! . Must have with the pepper sauce and muster only (no ketchup). If you're in NB and want a fun/chill place to grab a drink and bite, this is the place. Love this bar, bartenders, and the staff. The burgers are amazing and the drinks are strong. Love being a local and enjoy this spot. My suggestion to people who are complaining on hear about the doorman or bartenders maybe you should try giving the doormen a couple bucks and not being so

The owner of the place we rented highly recommended Cassidy's as where "the locals go" Rated the best hamburger in the area (he said) But we ordered the patty melt. And loved it Everyone working there was nice. We were able to park our bike in front We got it "to go" and it took less than 10 minutes. People were eating outside

If I could give zero stars I would. I was denied access to the establishment based on my handicap. I have a medical alert dog, he's necessary to allow me to live a normal life. A patron outside the bar asked if he could say hi to my dog which I allowed (up to my discretion based on the person and environment, and this greeting was outside the establishment in the public right of way aka sidewalk) and then the bouncer denied my entry.

Came here during a weekday to finally check out this burger my friend was constantly raving about. It was't busy at all but this place is pretty small. Keep that in mind as it might be hard to find seating if you come with a large group. I ordered a margarita (on the rocks, because no blender here. Boooo) and the bacon cheeseburger...which was decently priced. The bacon cheeseburger was really good and HUGE. Like abnormally large for a typical burger. Lol. Very fulfilling and you could probably just share it or take the rest home if you don't finish it! Note: Street parking and parking lots nearby.

Guy makes a killer patty melt. Never been disappointed. A great place for quick "business" lunch.

This is a great dive bar. It's small, but it's a fun place to hang out. The bartenders are awesome, the crowd is friendly, and the bouncers keep a watchful eye on things. The burgers are huge and delicious. Had a great time and will definitely be back.

Cassidy's is o close to being a five. The bar has incredible food for what I actually consider a dive bar. Their burgers seem to be the most popular, but the patty melt kills it. All food is reasonably priced, are their beers. The staff is no-nonsense but works hard to make sure you have a drink. Cassidy's is very chill and honestly a comfortable place to relax or even work while on the peninsula in the daytime with the doors open. In the evening, the building changes as the regulars get drunk and loud. Cassidy's has patrons that really vary in age. There are two entrances to Cassidy's. The west side entrance takes you directly into an area with two pool tables and gets very crowded. The other door places you right at the bar. The bar itself sits a little lower than usual with a light, smooth wood bar top. There are several square padded bar stools with no back support, but no footrest (again, the bar is short). The back bar contains the old school register, taps, bottle shelves, and multiple HDTVs, so your favorite team will likely be on. A smooth concrete floor sits below walls decorated with sports and alcohol-related signs. Overall, Cassidy's is a great place to grab a burger and beer regardless of the time of day or day of the week.

DO NOT GO TO THIS BAR! Went with some friends and staff is very racist! Did not want to serve us even after asking several times for a drink. Kicked out my friend after being there for only a couple minutes! If I could leave 0 stars I would!

the burgers are the best in orange county and the drinks are strong. The crowd is a mix of 20s, 30s, and 40s of which I am in the last group. I can't complain for a quick drink and the best burger in town.

Great dive bar. Bouncer is a little rough but just doing his job. Burgers are great and service is quick and courteous. I have only been here during the day and during football Sundays though so I cannot comment on how this place is at night. Thoroughly enjoy coming here though and drive all the way from inland empire.

The bouncers here are extremely violent and should all be FIRED for being dangerous, aggressive, they will hurt you. I am a female who has never been in a fight and they aggressively pushed/threw me out of the bar onto the cement ground almost into oncoming traffic. My back, neck, and arms are all messed up and sore from the impact of the fall. They're lucky I didn't get a concussion. I've been coming to Cassidy's for a year now and I have always loved the dive bar until this week evening when the bar was closing. They pushed me out of the bar & then 4 of the bouncers proceeded to JUMP my boyfriend and beat the shit out of him and put him in a head lock. He has a cut lip, black eyes, road rash, scabs and bruises all over, his throat and neck is swollen. They did not stop until he was almost unconscious. Why would there be this violence in any situation? Why would 4 grown men think it's okay to do that?

Staff is extremely rude, especially around closing time. They ruined my birthday. As someone who has a somewhat substantial social media following, I will make it my life's mission to shut this crappy bar down.

Friendly dive atmosphere, strong drinks, amazing people-watching. As with any busy dive, things can occasionally (but not often) get a little... spirited... but the staff is quick to handle that. And the food is surprisingly good. Try the grilled cheese. Side note: in The Age of COVID, Cassidy's popularity is kind of a bad thing. The last time I was there, only the staff wore masks and the patrons basically behaved like there was no pandemic. So be forewarned.

The best burgers in the whole wide world! No seriously. The beef patty's are home made, the lettuce, tomato, and onions are so fresh. Plenty of pickle, good amounts of cheese. And their special pepper sauce you dabble on the burger makes for a happy, and full tummy! The beers are nice, and cold. The crowd is your typical dive bar Beach crowd, and plenty of tv's to watch the games. Your looking at a long bar so you are going to be crammed in tight sometimes. Enjoy the closeness Americans it's good for ya. But.... I'll say this one thing.... there is no A/C. So if you run here during the heatwaves, and feel the need to report the weather every 15mins, please don't. We all know it's hot! And now you know there is no A/C.

Not a big place but a good hangout with a lot of locals. Good for a hamburger and beer or a few drinks.

Definitely a top tier 'Bar & Grill'. Its the go to joint for all the locals & the food is bomb. If you're trying to get out of your shell then this is the place to go. Fellow customers are always cool, bartenders kick ass & the security staff are all down to earth. My go to is the hot dog but its always a toss up. Nothing bad comes off their grill. Contrary to tourist belief, these guys don't play games; if you're respectful they will absolutely reciprocate. A bar that mirrors how it was in the good ole days :) i'd love to throw out a few names in specific but the whole staff is really personable & cool.

I believe It's not safe place to go in new port beach city , because I saw 3 bad bloody fights in there , I saw exactly who as a worker fight and hit a costumer hit him and made him injured . I saw that the door man and all rest workers hided him from cops . I saw they washed blood in entry door of that fight , then they didn't let me go there afterwards because I saw all details. I did make call to police office to report this but .... the officer suggested don't go there anymore . The main reason if fights is the workers because they just want show their power to dominate the costumers. I'm willing help keep this city safe and peaceful place for kids

Most people know this place for the great drinks and great customer service but when I think of cassidys I think of the great food!! Nobody knows but the food is the best food in all of Newport !!

I came upon this bar last night on my way to American Junkie...and I'm glad I did! I'm a huge fan of dive bars and this one was packed but also really fun! The bartenders were awesome and I ended up getting 4 refills of water....not because I asked for it, but because they just kept them coming! Haha, I'll take it! I took off a star because those bathrooms need some work, let me tell you. A girl in there made a joke that she was holding my stall closed for me with her heels and her friend's stall with her free hand...this was not a lie. Def needed some upkeep, but I mean, come on! It's a dive bar. So I accepted it and still had a great time!

Disclaimer: I have been to Cassidy's over 50 times and know the bartenders. I also am a Sikh and wear a turban. On 1/8/21, I entered the bar with a face mask on. As I walked in, I immediately received looks of amusement/disgust from the numerous patrons inside. After ordering a drink, I pulled my face mask down. A few moments later, an individual by the name of Jeff Martinelli approached me and proceeded to cough in my face multiples times and called me a "fucking liberal" I immediately pushed him away and admit that I punched him. Security came over to assess the situation and removed the individual and came back to me. They stared at me from head to toe and contemplated for a few moments. Security grabbed me and dragged me out of the bar with no explanation. My friends as well as other people at the bar were trying to explain everything as this was happening. I understand that I fought inside the bar but after what that person did to me DURING A PANDEMIC, I would have hoped they would be a bit more respectful towards me or at least condemned Jeff Martinelli's behavior. The fact that I, one of the few colored people in the bar at the time, was treated the same as the asshole, Jeff Martinelli, who approached me for no reason says enough about how this establishment views their patrons.

Bartenders are fucking rude not worth it. I asked for change from a $20 bill so I could literally tip the guy and he ignored me because I didn't tip on the credit card slip so he then lost out on my tip ‍

I visited Cassidy's on Saturday Jan 29th to celebrate my best friends birthday. She and her boyfriend went outside to meet her sister and opened the door to the female restroom by mistake. They quickly realized it and proceeded to meet her sister outside. As they stepped back into the restaurant he was told he was 86'd and that they had him on camera going into the woman's restroom. My friends explained that they were looking for the exit and mistakenly opened the restroom door. The employee called the birthday girl a "FUCKING IDIOT" and then asked her if she didn't see all the signs. I have never been so disgusted by the way an employee of an establishment would treat/speak to a guest. Especially one celebrating her birthday. I really hope that this manager changes his attitude otherwise he will be driving customers away.

Saddened to say that this place has discriminated against me and my service animal. The bouncer rudely refused my service dog and I. I can only assume they're not friendly towards people with disabilities. I would give this place 0 stars if I could.

Rude Bartender. One specifically rude bartender is blowing it for the rest of them. I will never tip at Cassidy's again. After a friend ordered me a shot I simply asked for some soda to chase with. I also had cash in hand. He looked at me and said you didn't order that before. Then scoffs and walks off. He comes back with the chase and says "I charged your friends card" so after profiting probably $20 from me I still go to tip the tender and he laughs at it and walks away. You know what I'm glad you didn't take my tip and won't be spending another cent at Cassidy's, and I recommend nobody spent their money here.

Couldn't ask for a better dive. My favorite part of Cassidy's is the service - genuinely nice bartenders who make unsolicited drink recommendations and treat you like family. I had a variety of Kona beers - first time trying them and they were tasty. Ordered a couple of burgers too, and they were fabulous. Highly recommend a stop at Cassidy's if you like basic bars with loud music and attentive service. One of the best dive bars I've ever been to!

Surprised to find a dive bar in Newport Beach of all places, but have no expectations and you'll tend to be pleasantly surprised. Came here with a coworker on a work-from-home day. Decided to get food from this place on lunch break. Burger was good, had all the toppings. Still hungry though, but I can't blame the establishment for having a moderately decent sized portion for a beach city dive bar. Shot two games of pool with a few minutes left on lunch break to spare. Lost both games. Still had fun. Would return.

I was in town and I was looking for a dive bar to grab a quick drink. This place was packed and the bar tenders were very rude and ignoring us with that being said I was there for 30 mins and still did not get my drink and I contracted covid 19 in this overly packed bar there was no social distancing! This place sucks.

PREFACE: I didn't grow up in Newport - I was born and raised in Anaheim and when I turned 21 I started working/living in LA so I'm used to that scene. This bar is possibly quintessential Newport so that's saying a lot. LOCATION: Super grungy, slim and narrow, several TVs, two pool tables, standard dive bar alcohol selection. I'm into dive bars but this is next level, I feel. CROWD: As I mentioned, it's quintessential Newport. The bros, the ladies, the strange weirdos that hang out by the beach, and the UCI students. SERVICE: It's a dive bar, what do you think? I will say the security is on point. They were quick when two fights broke out while I was there - yes, you read right: FIGHTS. They still happen. I'll only come back if my roommates drag me back but this will never be a first choice for me.
