Cassy's Kitchen serves up scrumptious soul food classics like oxtails and turkey in a vibrant, welcoming space where the service shines.
"Riding past Cassy’s Kitchen is easy unless you need to fill up at a Sunnyside gas station. Connected to the Valero, this modest restaurant serves the sort of comfort food worth stopping by on your lunch break. You can place your order at the cash register with one of the kind workers staffing the front. And though there’s a breakfast menu, you should focus on the plain fried chicken wings. The chicken is perfectly breaded and has a nice crunch. You can eat your food inside (there are a few tables) or get it to go because the plates taste just as good in your car. Order at least six of these. photo credit: Gianni Greene Collard Greens Greens can tell you a lot about a soul food establishment. Thanks to the precise balance of vinegar and spice, the ones here tell you that Cassy’s has this classic side down to a science. photo credit: Gianni Greene Mac & Cheese This mac falls heavier on the cheese side without turning into a soupy mess. It’s not quite the traditional baked mac and cheese you see at other soul food spots, but it’s still worth a spot on your to-go tray." - Gianni Greene
