Castanea Sicilian Cafe Venice Beach

A really delicious Italian café right Venice Beach right across from the ocean. As someone whose family is southern Italian, I really appreciate these flavors and honestly thought they were fantastic. We were walking the beach and decided to stop in once we saw it on our walk. Inside is quite large and very bright, but this is more of about to go type of place versus a stop and sit. Service was really friendly and everything that we ordered was made very quickly. I decided to try a Bombolone because I have been a big fan since I was a little kid and thought it was terrific, which is basically an Italian donut. It was made fresh and had great flavors. I also tried one of their cold brews with cold foam on top and thought it was a bit bitter, but still good. I would definitely recommend this place and plan to stop in again because I live fairly close by.

This is a hidden gem at Venice Beach. They offer delicious and tasty Italian Street Food. It really tastes like you are eating in Italy. If you like this kind of food you have to eat there. If you haven't tried Italian food before, you must visit this place. We ate pinsa, gelato, Cannoli and tried the Italian Soda. It was amazing.

Castanea Sicilian Cafe instantly transported me to Italy with its cozy vibe and authentic flavors. The pistachio latte was rich, smooth, and comforting. Absolutely perfect for a cloudy seaside morning. The owner was very kind and welcoming, and you can really feel the passion behind everything they do. I love how they infuse a touch of Sicily into every detail. Definitely coming back for the gelato next time! Omg—and the ricotta cannoli is bomb!! Don’t leave without trying it!

Beautiful place, welcoming staff, music and theme made me feel like I was in Italy for a second! I ordered a pistachio gelato and I’m loss for words… the flavor just melted so beautifully in my mouth. I also ordered a cannoli, a classic Sicilian pastry! Delicious. 10/10.

Me and my friend ordered a white chocolate latte and pistachio latte today. Both drinks were delicious and very creamy. The staff were also exceptional and offered us to try gelato while waiting for our drinks. Would definitely recommend here and would love to come back if we are in Los Angeles again.

As an Italian food lover, I was excited to try this place given the great reviews. However, we left disappointed. Good: gentleman at the counter was nice and helpful. Ok: Cannolo and sfogliatella. Bad: Mortadella "focaccia". This sandwich was lacking in every sense. From the fact that it was premade in the kitchen to its size, to the three pieces of mortadella, to the fact that the focaccia was pretty much a cold and bland square panino bread instead of a real focaccia. For $17 we were expecting something way better. We left so disappointed that we decided to go to a different italian sandwich shop to be pleased with our breakfast.

The coffee and the food is exceptionally great! It’s all real Italian ingredients and you really taste it. We had the focaccia and the croissant filled with pistachio crème. One of the best Italian food I ever had outside of Italy.

We grabbed absolutely fantastic pastries and espresso tonics this morning and sat at a table in front of the cafe. Super friendly, quick service and cute decor with some to go grocery options as well. Lovely spot!

The strawberry sorbet is a standout--refreshing, incredibly fresh, and subtly sweet, just perfect. The staff is equally wonderful--genuine, patient, and attentive, adding to the overall warm and authentic experience. A delightful place for anyone craving a taste of Sicily!

We perused the menu out front. Decided to step in and check out their food. We ordered three small risotto balls, stuffed with meats, cheese, vegetables. We tried one of each with marinara sauce on the side. Completely delicious. Then we ordered a pastry with a little powdered sugar and chocolate sprinkles on top with Nutella inside. It was unbelievably good. I also ordered a double espresso. Service was very friendly and prompt. Place is very clean inside and sells a few Italian products. This place took over the old Ben and Jerry's ice cream on the boardwalk. Anything in Venice near or on the boardwalk tends to be a little pricey. I'm assuming because of the rent and the pay for the employees. But I would definitely go back here.

I'm so happy to live near Castanea Sicilian Cafe! Their arancini, pinsa, and panini are all absolutely delicious. The service is always friendly, and the vibe is fantastic--warm and inviting, with sunny yellow decor that perfectly complements its beachside location. Highly recommend stopping by for a taste of Sicily by the sea! I'll try to stop by for espresso in the AM next time.

Quick. Simple. Refreshing. First we can start with the view! Who wouldn't want to sit and watch the sunset with a delicious coffee?? Secondly I was scared to get a pistachio latte but wow it was nothing short of amazing! They use sauces not syrup. I prefer sauces as they really elevates a flavored coffee!

Ok never did I expect to come across this gem of a place on the Venice strand. The pastries were mind blowing, fresh and beautifully delivered. Simple clean and won't last. Order the Bombolone and Margarita pizza! Coffee is made with love here

First time trying this location since I live in the Bay... this was recommended by my sister since she said they really really liked it. I actually thought I wasn't going to like it since I was really hungry and I thought I wouldn't be satisfied, but I actually ended up enjoying it a lot. Their lattes are perfect for my taste & their arancino ragu really filled me up. It's so flavorful & really brings Italy to Venice. The ambiance inside is nice & clean. For sure underrated & I'd totally be back here next time I come around Venice!

A wonderful Italian cafe located on the Venice Beach boardwalk. I just had some lunch elsewhere and was looking for something sweet. And there it was right in front of me. As I walked in, it seemed like this was a new establishment with a limited menu. I immediately noticed gelato and pastries. Yum. I was drawn to the pastries and decided to sample a plain Cornetto and Sfogliatella. Both were very freshly made ... and delicious. Exactly what I was looking for!

Best cannoli in town. And I have had them all. Ingredients from Italy. Right on the boardwalk. Grab a cannoli or gelato and enjoy the view.

My daughter and I stopped in and had the most delicious food. We ordered one of their flatbreads and two pastries. So incredibly good!

I just had the most amazing pre-lunch treat! A Cacio Pepe Arancini. So many flavors going on in this it is almost too hard to describe. Better for you to come and try yourself. Will definitely be back to try the other two flavors that they have. Great customer service and so clean inside considering it is on the Venice Boardwalk. An oasis of goodness.

While on vacation I popped into this new spot. So happy I did!! I'm trying a scoop of the vegan strawberry and their stracciatella side by side.

Amazing place , love the new decor after Ben and Jerry shutdown... the gelato was insanely good, the latte coffee was the smoothest and best thing in Venice. Best of all the owner himself was there taking care of the customers... great experience!

I've been here a few times since they opened and it's been nice to see them get more of their menu items in! We've really liked the arancini, pinsa, and cornetto. My kids had gelato and of course loved it. Coffee drinks look good but so far I've only had the straight espresso which was really smooth. The team is always very friendly and helpful with the menu if you aren't familiar with the particular pastries.

I got the espresso tonic and was blown away by how much I liked it! It was so cool and refreshing -- literally the perfect pick me up. The staff here are super friendly and the restaurant itself is so cute!

Best cafe in Venice! Authentic Italian drinks + food that makes me feel like I never left Italy. We've gotten to know the owners + employees and they are always so welcoming. Great oceanfront location to watch the water while enjoying coffee + delicious pastries.

charming new Italian beachside cafe in Venice! we had the arancini trio, a pistachio cannoli, and sfogliatella. everything was delicious and the staff was super friendly and attentive. sampled the gelato too and it was amaaazing, will def come back for that. prime location for people/dog watching and a great spot for a quick stop for some good food

Stopped in one foggy Sunday morning to take the chill off- An Americano with a pastry was just what I needed to reboot my beach walk. The staff was very friendly. I didn't have my wallet, but they accepted ApplePay. This is the kind of place I hope becomes a mainstay... I will try the pizza next time...they call it Pinsa. Also the Arancini looks amazing. Saving that for 3rd visit.

Had the best latte and bomboleenee at Castanea Cafe thanks to the recommendation of the owner who greeted us and provided excellent service. Coffee and dessert was 10/10. Will be back

Best croissant in LA!!! If you're looking for an authentic Italian cafe look no further. The coffee and pastries are absolutely DELICIOUS. Highly recommend getting a nutella or pistachio filled croissant. It is a taste of heaven. The service is amazing too.

Best esspresso at the beach. One of the best in LA.Period. Owner buys the beans from the farm and flies the beans in. That's the real deal. You can taste it.

I'm a bit disappointed in my salame panino. The pics shared by the business owners showed a full sized sandwich and I received a half sandwich at $16. In addition, it didn't taste fresh & my greens were yellow. Furthermore, I couldn't taste anything but bread. I was really excited and am sad to leave this review but I paid almost $20 for this including tip. Customer service was great so maybe I'll stick with the pastries next time.

I LoVE this place!! Excellent coffee and gelatos; hard to find such delicious coffee in this area. Haven't tried anything else yet but it looks delicious!! Family feel, genuine desire from the owners to share their appreciation of Sicilian food! Beautiful decor inside. Highly recommended!!

Great friendly service. The bombolone and gelato were absolutely incredible and authentic --both a solid 10/10 in terms of flavour and texture, however, the coffee was a bit of a letdown, coming in at 8/10, as it lacked the boldness I was hoping for. The only other downside was the limited seating which made it a bit tricky to find a spot to enjoy the treats comfortably. There was no bathroom for customers, however, overall, worth a visit for the sweets!

This was the cutest place ever! The energy was amazing when we walked in and the baristas were so kind and friendly! The sorbet was delicious and served in a lemon, and the pistachio coffee was amazingggg. They even gave us free biscotti's which were so yummy!

Wow. absolutely TO DIE FOR. the staff here absolutely made our experience, even tho the pastries, food, and coffee would have spoken for itself! They are clearly so passionate about what they offer the world and i hope this place never leaves Venice. i'll be making it a stop every single time im here! Its so hard to find good Italian spots in LA - this place is a gem! Super friendly staff and cute spot right on the beach. I got a delicious focaccia sandwich and tried the cookies, I can't wait to go back and try the cannolis

$13 for two small scoops of ice cream! Definitely a rip off for an average ice cream. Do yourself a favor and I avoid a tourist trap.

I'm a Sicilian girl from Colorado and wanted to give this place a try. Not only was everything incredible, but I got a ton of recommendations, food on the house just for stopping in, and friendly smiles. I'll definitely be back before I head back home!
