Castas e Pratos

"A delightful restaurant occupying a former train station warehouse with a terrace overlooking the tracks, a wine bar and a dining room with high ceilings. Superb wine cellar!" - Michelin Inspector

Highly recommended for any type of stop you would think. Great location, incredible atmosphere and design. Supper friendly and welcoming staff members.Delicious food and drinks. Must visit if you in that area, you will not be disappointed

Google
The food was really nice and high quality, but I do think it is overpriced for what it is. Go if you need a change in scenery in terms of dishes, and if you’ve already had traditional food in the region, but otherwise it’s not really worth it. Skip entrees and go for the desserts instead!

Google
Delicious food ! Good starter and main course. Juicy and tender angus beef with perfect medium Cream brûlée with too much lavender

Google
The worst dinner I ever had - managed to put me and friends on such a bad mood during my trip in Portugal. Not only we have been totally forgotten waiting for more than 1h for our dishes - reminding it to waiters for at least 2 times - but they were also super rude in service and didn’t do anything beyond saying ‘sorry. 60€/ person in Portugal for half appetizer, one main and a couple drinks. I feel I have been ripped off. Food was also pretentious vs price. Environment is ok but not exceptional, and there is no good view or ambient - 30+ degrees outside, not well refrigerated Unforgettable place - the worst of my trip in Portugal.

Google
Food was good, not great considering a Michelin Guide. We had foie gras entrada, the octopus and vegetarian risotto. The factor that created great discomfort was the temperature inside (upstairs) the restaurant. It was unbearably warm, and when we asked about it, we were told the cooling was at 'maximum', and that the wood ceilings had something to do with the heat. It would have been nice to be offered a seat elsewhere, where there may have been better circulation?

Google
Very impressed. Calm casual but stylish decor. Impressive wine list. We had a local Douro Pinot Noir. Service excellent. Food seriously good.

Google
Fantastic service and even better food. The sea bass ceviche with that ice cream is superb as is the super tender octopus , wasn’t a fan of the lavender crème brûlée but it’s my personal taste , texture and sugar crust was perfect though. Staff was very attentive and wine list is excellent but long, you’ll need a good hour to read it all unless you are on your own, the. Only few choice by the glass. Prices are a bit steep but worth it.

Google
Enjoyed dinner here almost by accident, place we had planned on visiting was closed. Our starters of Fish Ceviche and Steak Tartare were divine with such an amazing mix of flavours. Then mains was the veal with risotto and lamb with prawns. Again everything was incredibly well cooked and presented. The wine choices are almost endless, strongly advise that you simply place yourself in the hands of the Sommelier.

Yelp
It was recommended that we try this place. We were greeted right away and seated a corner table upstairs so far, so good. Our server came to greet us and I asked for a wine list. She returned within a few minutes and asked if we were ready. I said yes and selected our bottle of Wine, she said, "oh that was fast, and asked if we were ready to order food, I replied I hadn't looked at the menu. She promptly left without uttering a word. After waiting for several minutes a wine Stuart returned and asked if we had ordered wine, we confirmed and he left to retrieve the wine. That was the end of our service, he poured one glass and never returned. We ordered linguine as our main dish and it arrived cold and without any flavor but lots of garlic. In summary, service was poor at best, food was over priced and very small portions. We poured our own wine and water.

Yelp
The food here was outstanding, a true dining experience. Every bite of every dish was divine. I highly recommend coming here! We started with olives and the partridge, moorillas and foie Gras ravioli that simply melted in my mouth. For main course I had the black Angus steak with balsamic that was perfect and the balsamic balls were the perfect on top of the mashed potatoes and fun to eat! My friend had the duck and that was delicious as well. The desserts are what initially attracted us here and we could not resist the egg O Ovo that was a whole experience in every bite, you must try! We also had the lave dar and eucalyptus creme Brule that was an amazing marriage of flavors that danced on our palette.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this restarant, but it fell short of expectation. The only thing good about the restaurant was the presentation, other than that, it was underwhelming. The menu does not describe the dish fully. The sea bass ceviche had a layer of fish eggs/caviar on top which I do not eat, and it was not mentioned on the menu. The Octopus should have come with olives and egg, but it came with roasted pepper? I love egg and olive, which is part of the reason I ordered it as I thought the combination would pair nicely. But the dish was completely different than described. Dirty dishes sat on our table for a while. Service was lacking. I'd skip this place and go to Aneto.

Yelp
For our first day of wine tasting in Douro Valley, we had lunch here! It's a nice upscale place that is a Michelin restaurant. The service was wonderful as well as the food! We got the scallops in pea puree as an appetizer which was very refreshing. We all really enjoyed them! I got the duck magrat for lunch while my friends got sea bass and asparagus risotto. All the food had wonderful presentation and was very tasty. I really enjoyed my duck and especially that mashed sweet potato! So this was a nice place for lunch but I don't know if it's Michelin restaurant material. It's lacking that oomph I've experienced in other Michelin restaurants. Overall the prices are very approachable for tourists in my opinion.

Yelp
Please make a reservation we were able to sit out on the patio and have a lovely dinner.

Yelp
The food was next level. The service was nice and slow giving you time to enjoy everything. When i was ready to leave, one of the servers didn't want to provide any help on where to store or keep luggage but another bar tended I asked on my way out told me they can help me with it. Small details like that matter since they are in the middle of a very touristy area. The ambiance and area was amazing as well. I had the truffle carpaccio , the trout with dirty rice was the to die for !! And finally the dessert with mushroom ice cream was out of this world.

Yelp
Wonderful train station turned into numerous restaurants. This one was beautiful. We sat outside where the waiting area used to be. Food was exquisite. Ceviche with caviar on top and Partridge ravioli in a mushroom sauce were both perfect.

Yelp
We had one day in the Duoro Valley, and just happened upon this superb restaurant/wine bar. First, the ambiance is so spot on: clean, great architecture, beautiful views. But the good, omg. I live in New York and must say if this restaurant was near me I'd eat there at least once a week. We started with is Iberico ham with truffles. Perfect. Then a black pork and mushroom dish that was so different, so tasty. And an asparagus risotto that was the best I'd ever had, even in Italy. Finally, the wine and crème brûlée were over the top in quality. Price was great too. Can't recommend this place enough. If the servers hadn't been so "down" about the coming American tourists (I'm projecting) it would have been top 5 best meals ever. That's how good it was.

Yelp
Great dinner, Highly recommend. Had the Foie Gras & Steak Tartare appetizers and the duck & rice au gratin entrees. All were outstanding. Another excellent meal.

Yelp
We were staying nearby and booked a table via email after researching online. It's located in the small city of Régua. We arrived by taxi from our hotel and were enchanted with the restaurants location and decor. Located it what looked to be a repurposed and restored warehouse next to the train station, the dark moody interior is rimmed with the upstairs restaurant's wine selection (the wine menu is over an inch thick). We were seated at a nice table upstairs that was perfect for the two of us. The menu offers a variety of hot and cold starters, fish and meat. We decided to share the warm goat cheese and pineapple tart (tasty and unique) to start followed by their bachalau (cod fish-just ok) as our main. We shared the chocolate caramel peanut "parfait" (fantastic) which was more of a small chocolate moose, peanut butter ice cream and rich caramel sauce. In addition to hundreds of wines their by the glass list has quite a few very reasonable choices as well and we tried a couple of different whites with our food. Service was friendly and everyone spoke English so there were no issues not knowing Portuguese.

Yelp
Had dinner last evening with my family. Service was slow and uninterested. 30 minutes between appetizers and entree. 2 of the dishes had been ready long before third and it was evident that they had been sitting under heat lamps waiting for the third. One of the dishes was inedible and the other 2 were under seasoned and overcooked. One dish was sent back and the lack of curiosity as to why by the manager was telling. Over priced, under delivered.

Yelp
This restaurant is right by the train station. As we arrived from Porto early afternoon we decided to stop for lunch before heading to our hotel. Very beautiful, upscaled interior with prices to match. Which means more akin to what I'm used to paying back in the U.S., haha. We had the baby goat and the green tagliatelle, and enjoyed every bite of it. It's Portuguese cooking with a modern twist and a substantial improvement on plating and presentation. My only complain is the bread. No, the bread was delicious, and no, I've been to Portugal enough times to know that they charge for it. But it was €5.30 for four thin, half slices of bread - about the size if you curve your thumb and index finger. At least give me a basket or offer refill. This is likely the most expensive bread I've ever paid for...

Yelp
Overcooked steak... cream sauce smothering the fish... no dressing on the salad... they need help...

Yelp
Getting here was the best part of the experience (rolling hills, gorgeous terraced vineyards, beautiful river) The restaurant itself is really pretty - an aging railway station to one side and the Douro on the other. The food was decent, we ordered: The foie gras - was really delicious The warm goat cheese on a grilled pineapple The ceviche - good Seafood linguini - ok Kids salmon - well made Vegetarian risotto - ok I can't figure out the service - it felt sometimes friendly and sometimes a bit uppity. I expected a lot more out of my meal after reading the reviews - nothing really stood out - everything seemed to be missing an ingredient to make it shine .

Yelp
This dinner was absolutely perfect in every way! Everything from the setting to the service to the food was spectacular. The restaurant is tucked in between the train station and the river.... so views to both the left and the right are lovely. What is it about European trains that are just so romantic? The service was white glove (without the stuffy gloves). Every utensil was replaced and placed with the precision of a surgeon. Each water glass was filled within a milliliter of every other on the table. Wine was opened and poured and repoured with an air of quiet elegance. The menu is lovely.... gourmet without being overwhelming. Cold starters included cerviche and octopus salads...... hot starters included mussels and cod. Of course our group must deviate from convention and so four of us shared an order each of "Mushroom and Vegetable Couscous" and "Risotto with Green Asparagus". Both were exquisite. The flavors popped and blended perfectly. The sauces were divine. One of us exclaimed, "This is as good as an orgasm". But..... better than sex.... the meal didn't end there. Three of us had the sirloin steak and one had salmon. The entrees were accompanied by sautéed and seasoned spinach and a roasted potato dish that was as light as a cloud and seasoned to perfection. The salmon was delicious..... but the steak was absolutely fantastic. It was cooked exactly to order, perfectly seasoned, and topped with a wonderful olive tapenade. Desserts (yep.... we had 'em) were works of art. It was difficult to choose from the entire page of delicacies .... cakes and tarts and sweets (oh my!) were each accompanied by their own flavor of house-made ice cream. My hazelnut cake with mocha cream and raspberry ice cream was so lovely to look at that I almost couldn't eat it. But of course I did..... with gusto!

Yelp
Conveniently located right off of the Regua train station, this place is great to relax and get a nice meal before you travel. GOOD - roasted duck with carrot puree was a real winner. cooked to perfection and supplemented with a red fruit marmalade and carrot puree, every bite was heavenly. - very extensive wine menu, so you can find pretty much all the famous port wines here - good place to charge your phone :) - there's AC.. you know you need it out in the douro valley heat BAD - I think there's only 1 bathroom here.. which is kind of annoying. - service was average, kind of slow and they weren't too friendly

Yelp
Horrible! Poorly educated people, terrible food, time-consuming, expensive to be what it is (super pretentious, if you think you're a "Michelin" in life, but it's worthless). My friend went for the third time to give this disgusting place another chance, and all three were terrible experiences. A place for muggle tourists, not only as a restaurant but for those who want to buy wines (super expensive). June 13, 2021.

Yelp
This was a pleasant surprise. Arrived Règua train station and found this restaurant right by the station. Huge list of wines and every single entree looks delicious. We had The food gras, fish soup, and the red shrimp rice. 8 red shrimps were used in the dish where 4 were mashed into the rice and 4 were grilled and served with the rice. The view was fanatic too. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
Huge wine list. Had sea bass and shrimp pasta. Both were perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Service was very friendly and accommodating. When a young child sat at the table next to us, we were gladly moved to a quiet table. I would recommend this restaurant to any of my foodie friends.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant. Every dish was prepared well. We ordered three starters and four main dishes. For starters: ceviche with mustard ice cream and caviar, Iberian ham with black truffle shavings, and goat cheese gratin served on pineapple with honey. For main dish: kid goat served in port wine, sea bass with clams and shrimp, Duck magret, and a vegetable and mushroom couscous. No complaints, every dish flavorful and unique. Service was good.

Yelp
Lovely restaurant located right outside of the Regua train station. It's beautifully decorated inside with views overlooking the Douro river and surrounding vineyards. The wine menu is extensive and all of the food we had was delicious. I can't imagine the food in Regua getting better than this. Be sure to try the goat cheese appetizer - that was especially tasty! They have vegetarian and children options. And wifi. Service was great. The restaurant is upstairs and the bar and lounge are downstairs.

Yelp
I liked this restaurant so mIt is a good place to try the wine from Douro because they overloaded the wine menu with many options. My friend from Lisbon said that I had to try the cod with crust. I tried it and I thought it was the best meal I'd tasted in my life. I thought the atmosphere was great and the waitress who served us was helpful for pairing wines with our dishes and was able to show us the quantities of food that would be perfect for me and my husband. We had a good time tasting some wine and looking at the view of the river. You will love the food, the presentation and the way you are received. So, everything I heard was 100% true. I recommend it for sure.

Teresa F.

Yelp
Wow, I cannot say enough about this wonderful restaurant. Great atmosphere, great food and music. Try multiple appetizers including the ceviche and the scallops. You can't go wrong!

K D.

Yelp
Over priced and the staff was young and amateur. Wine was not served as option until after she took out orders and we asked about the wine menu. Dishes were very small fit price. Nothing great. Shrimp was very over cooked too.
