Visiting Santa Bárbara Castle was an incredible experience! The moment I reached the top, the view took my breath away, a perfect panorama of the sea, city, and mountains all in one frame. The castle itself is beautifully preserved, with a rich sense of history in every corner. I loved walking through the old stone paths, exploring the towers, and just taking in the peaceful atmosphere. It’s the kind of place that makes you pause and appreciate where you are. Whether you’re interested in history, photography, or just want to enjoy a stunning sunset, Santa Bárbara Castle is absolutely worth visiting. I left feeling amazed and grateful for the experience.

The views of Alicante from Castillo de Santa Bárbara are absolutely stunning, especially at sunset. It’s the perfect spot to watch the city and coastline turn gold as the sun goes down. It’s very peaceful and romantic, making it a great place to unwind and take in the beauty of Alicante from above. There are also tables and hiking trails, so you can have fun climbing up through the city and then sit down and enjoy a meal in a quiet, cool spot.

Must do when visiting Alicante. If you’re not walking up Mount Benacantil, it only costs you 2.70 EUR pp to go up by elevator. Santa Barbera offers you tons of lovely views, from every corner of the castle. Absolutely amazing. There’s a couple of little musea inside, some bars and a gift shop. I’ll def visit again and stay for a longer period of time.

We came "early"around 11 o clock and we were standing on the quay more than an hour on the bloody sun. No any shades infront of the elevator. The view from the castle is amazing. The road is really slippy you should wear a comfy shoes. There is a note who has a peacemaker there have to be aware!!! The road down was long, because the elevator it wasn't working. The elevator ticket price is 2,80€/person

This was a very enjoyable visit to the Castell de Santa Bàrbera. You enter the castle via a long tunnel before reaching a lift that takes you up to the summit of the mountain where the castle is located. The views are amazing and you enjoy a bird's-eye view of Alicante and the sea. There are various levels and it is all very walkable. However if you have walking difficulties or wheelchairbound then it could be a challenge to reach parts of the castle. There is a lovely gift shop to buy a momento of your visit. This is also a fantastic photography moment to be enjoyed.

Easy to hike to and I recommend to do that to see the fantastic views. The castle is free and no ticket needed. Plan to start your trip at around 16/16:30 so that you won’t miss the golden hour for the sunset

Visiting the Castle of Santa Barbara was a highlight of my trip to Alicante. Perched on a hilltop, the views of the city and coastline are absolutely breathtaking, providing a perfect backdrop for stunning photos. The castle itself is rich in history, with well-preserved structures and informative displays that give insight into its past. Exploring the various towers and ramparts was a fascinating experience, and you can really feel the weight of the history as you walk through the ancient walls. There are some shaded areas near the trees, offering a peaceful spot to relax after wandering through the fortifications. I recommend going early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the heat and enjoy a quieter experience. The entrance fee is reasonable, and there’s plenty of space to explore. Overall, the Castle of Santa Barbara is a must-visit for anyone interested in history and architecture, and it offers a unique perspective of Alicante from above.

If you’re visiting Alicante, don’t miss the chance to explore this stunning historical castle perched high on the mountain. The views from the top are absolutely breathtaking — you can take in the entire city skyline along with sweeping views of the coast. It’s the perfect mix of history and scenery. Getting there is easy: you can either take the convenient lift from the city side or enjoy a 15-minute walk up the hill if you’re feeling active. Once at the top, there’s a charming little spot to grab a drink and relax while soaking up the view. Whether you’re a history lover, a photography enthusiast, or just looking for a peaceful place to unwind, this castle is well worth the visit. Don’t miss it!
