Castillo del Buen Amor

This is now the third time that we have stayed at this wonderful hotel and I feel compelled to let other know just how good it is.||My wife and I, along with our two large breed dogs, drive out to the Algarve every year at the end of the summer. We use to drive from Santander to the Algarve in one hit although as we have got older we decided to stop at a convenient place in Spain before it gets dark driving South. Friends recommended this place and I have to say that it is amazing. ||From the moment you arrive and are welcomed at reception you will be in ore of the place. It is slightly hard to find in the dark but if you use your satnav it makes it easier to find. The long impressive drive gives you the opportunity to see the Castle at its best. The rooms are extremely well appointed and we had enough room for both dogs to feel at easy. As I said they are quite large so other "dog friendly" hotels we have used are nowhere near as big. The dogs are allowed in the Castle just not the restaurant so you can sit either inside or in the courtyard and keep your pets close by at all times.||Now for food - they do a complete breakfast buffet and I would defy anyone not to find something they like - fresh meats, fruit, pastries, cereal along with hot food for us Brits. Coffee , and selection of fruit juices, are also available.||In the evening you can either eat from the bar menu which boasts one of the nicest burgers I have had in a while to traditional Spanish food OR you can dine in their formal restaurant. Both are very reasonably priced. They also make their own wine and we have now tried all three varieties and can not fault any of them. The omst expensive of these at about £20.||The castle is a short 15 min drive from Salamanca so you can stock up on local provisions ready for the next drive. Salamanca is also a beautiful place to visit in it's own right.||The grounds are quiet and are lovely to walk around of an evening to give the dogs a leg stretch before bed.||In short, its in a great location, the rooms are amazing, the food is wonderful, and I not hesitate to recommend you give it a try if you are driving south and need a place to stay that has some character.

Beautiful historic castle/ fortress north of Salamanca. In the middle of the countryside with vines & farming land all around. Not the easiest to find but worth seeking out. The building has been lovingly restored in keeping with the original. Part of the moat is given over to a lovely pool area. The steps down to it are a bit precarious. The service from the staff at reception, the pool, the bar were great. However service at dinner was a bit random- I just think they needed more staff to help out. The food at dinner was good and plentiful. They produce their own wines& they are very good and inexpensive. Sauvignon blanc 👍. Breakfast was very good- great selection well set out and plentiful. |Our room was on the ground floor and was huge. Floors a bit slippy, just had to remember to wear shoes at all times. Steps down into room and into bathroom due to age & character of the building. |This is a unique place, full of history, beautiful architecture, great staff, good food & wine.|This place is great value for money. If they had ghosts it wouldn’t surprise me, however we didn’t see any and slept very well!

Castillo de Buen Amor |Stay in a 15th-century castle — with|spacious rooms, medieval charm, modern comforts. Surrounded by vineyards, very close to Salamanca. It is perfect for a quiet escape or a wine-fueled weekend. Also wedding or other events can be organized here. History and hospitality in one epic stone package.|Breakfast starts at 9 am. They have swimming pool. Not good for disabled people as there are no lifts and the building, being a historical monument, represents ancient architecture with high stairs. The menu in restaurant is good for any public, the breakfast offers a variety of local food.

This glorious castle was a revelation from the moment we saw it as we approached along the long driveway all the way through exploring the rooms and courtyards inside. The ambiance was great, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the food in the restaurant was delicious and the room we stayed in was extremely comfortable and modern whilst retaining many of the original features of this historical building. Didn't use the swimming pool but other guests did and it looked very inviting. Very good breakfast buffet with a wide choice of foods. Highly recommended!

Fantastic castle. All you would imagine. We had room number 5. Wow. Probably the best room I have stayed in. Only 1 moan. Like everyone else we had a dog. And of course no dogs in restaurant. Ok. We accepted that however as it was a special occasion for the wife and I,, We wanted to eat a special meal together in the courtyard. We were told no, because only in the restaurant could we have the evening meal. Only the lunch menu in the courtyard . I was not happy so we decided not to have dinner. Also I was going to stay another night, but no I will give my hard earned cash to another hotel and also we were going to buy a couple of bottles of their wine for home. We cancelled that too. All because they couldn't bother to bring My food up 17 stairs. Sorry will not be returning and will not recommend my friends to stay their, SUCH A SHAME

Worst hotel management ever. We booked a medieval room but apparently dogs were not accepted, which is not written on their website. The director did not want to listen to us and was convinced everything was perfectly clear. We left. Did not want to pay for such a bad client aervice

The most beautiful old castle just outside of Salamanca. Real disconnection from the world. Authentic style Allowed our dog and very welcoming

Exceptional once in a lifetime experience. Very beautifully restored castle was incredible. The staff were attentive and the owner Pilar was amazing. We did the wine tasting and Pilar couldn’t have been a better host, she took her time explaining the history of the castle and genuine love for the future of the vineyard and hotel. |The large pool was a welcome addition. Lovely to relax around and soak up the atmosphere. Everything clean, comfortable and well maintained. |Our balcony overlooking the pool and countryside was amazing.
