"Sevillanos often use the word “castizo” to describe a traditional tapas bar, and this place lives up to the name, serving typical regional dishes with high-quality ingredients. The contemporary open kitchen makes for a lively atmosphere, with big windows and a L-shaped bar reminiscent of a modern French bistro. You can’t go wrong with the well-rounded list of sherries and superb Sevillano dishes like atún encebollado (stewed tuna with onions) and salt cod fritters. Be sure to ask your server about the ultra-fresh, daily offerings hiding at the seafood counter." - Megan Lloyd

Some say that the people of the Basque country completed/perfected the cheesecake. in fact, I WAS one of those people. Then I ate at Castizo and my world turned upside down. I'm still reeling, two days later, from this discombobulating experience. Now I'm not sure what to believe anymore. Is the sky actually blue? Maybe Trump is actually a feminist? Who knows anymore.... The only truth I know is that all the food here is excellent (especially their veg croquetas), the staff incredibly helpful, and that cheesecake needs its own Tinder account so I can fall in love the modern way.

Fried artichoke was unreal. Cheese and honey was just so smooth and tasty. Kids loved the fries and sauce. Wife loved the vegetarian dishes. It was also really quick service. Wonderful late lunch option!

This restaurant had delicious, fresh, wonderful food. We loved everything here, from the service to the food! We enjoyed the food so much that we went twice during our visit to Seville.

Google
Average food, not particularly impressed by any food in general. Atmosphere was nice if you’re looking for a date night. Portions are big so definitely getting a range of tapas would quickly fill you up. Spanish omelette was made beforehand - cold. Everything else was alright and normal. Overall, average food but nice atmosphere !

This place is a must visit if you are into higher end/quality tapas. The restaurant decor has a modern French and Spanish feel to it. The open kitchen behind the bar makes you feel you are in the kitchen without actually being in it. The service was on point and dishes came out very timely. The highlight of this restaurant is the delicious cuisine. We ordered the tuna tartar with truffle sauce and it melts in your mouth. Then came the fried eggs with prawns and potatoes. Unbelievably delicious with so much rich flavor. Next was the chicken and white asparagus. It was good but I could skip it. Then came the fish of the day with a hollandaise type sauce. It was so moist and flaky and just absolutely yummy. Finally finished dinner with cheesecake. Cheesecake it was so creamy and light. Unlike American cheesecake. Next time I’m in severe, I will be back here again!

Best tapas we had in Sevilla. Cheesecake was phenomenal. Scallop tapa also very good.

Google
This place was phenomenal. Like other spots during our visit, we came without a reservation, but they kindly put us at a small bar area with high chairs. There’s a comfortable neighborhood bar vibe while also feeling upscale, and this translates to the food. Everything we ordered was superbly delicious and the only thing stopping us from trying more was our full stomachs. I would without a doubt return here to try more great menu items.

3.5/5 🇺🇸A modern restaurant with the motto of Traditional Sevilla Cuisine💚: @barracastizo_ Grilled scallops with spicy chorizo cream (€3.9) was a layered opener, suggested. The large mussels served on brioche with down mixture (€3.5) were a bit of a mixed product. I didn’t order one more time. Bacalao Buñuelos (€11) served with black ink sauce was also the most enjoyable plate. We closed with Carrileras (€12), prepared in stew-like consistency. A good plate of meat, cooked just right and not fancy. Another good thing about the place is that they serve many good wines by the glass. We had the chance to experience 4 different wines on our list with meals. Let's talk about why we gave this score to this restaurant, which has a nice ambiance: the service quality is very, very mediocre. Service Staff is quite amateur. Apart from that, they look into your eyes to bring you the bill.

Yelp
This has been my favorite spot to eat at in Sevilla. So much so that I came twice ! I highly recommend it. Everything is delicious on the menu. The Russian salad is the best I've had in all Spain. The tuna toast is super delicious! Their rice is awesome. There is some construction on the street but you can still walk down the side to get there.

Yelp
Excellent tapas and fantastic main dishes. Very popular. We didn't have a reservation so we were sat at the bar. Which was excellent to see the beehive of cooks in action. DO eat here!

Yelp
Had an excellent dinner here. The food was tasty and well prepared (see photos). The service was excellent - while we did try to muddle through with some poor Spanish, our servers happily flipped to English with us. While most of the patrons were locals, they are well equipped for travelers. The space itself is modern and has great vibe. Looking out the window, there was plenty of people watching as they are located in a busy part of Sevilla. Make sure you ask for/check out the daily specials. They have a set of these sitting out in front of the kitchen - while supplies last. What you see is what they have. Their primary menu is full of standard Andalucian tapas prepared very well and priced reasonably. Probably a good idea to make a reservation as we went early and it was full by 9pm.

Yelp
This is our first restaurant stop in Sevilla and it did a great job meeting our expectations. For those who eat pork belly you will be very surprised and for the vegetarians you will love the artichoke. Give the place a try you will be very happy.

Yelp
Sevillanos often use the word "castizo" to describe a traditional tapas bar, and Castizo lives up to the all the hype - serving typical regional dishes with freshest seasonal ingredients. We were here on a Monday night but the restaurant is still packed with locals and tourists. Through the open kitchen, you can see the chef and the younger cooks working hard throughout the night - makes for a lively atmosphere. The is a good list of local wines which we ordered the 50 Euro pinot noir that was absolutely gorgeous and interesting. Some of the standout superbly Sevillano dishes included the fried cod balls, the nightly special paella was pork cheek and shrimp that was delightful, and the daily offerings hiding in the seafood bar was a large scallops in a shell, cooked with ginger and coconut milk and olive oil, which was out of this world good!

Yelp
We just happened to stumble into this wonderful restaurant that was just 3 minutes walk from where we were staying. All the tapas and main dishes were amazing. We love these tapas (appetizers or snacks) that we can order a whole bunch to get all the flavors of what the kitchen has to offer. The pork grinds were the best that we ever had. They were more like little chunk of pork bellies that were perfectly fried. So crunchy, salty and tender with a touch of fat that just melted in your mouth. Must try their sangrias. So fresh and tasty. The servers were friendly and helpful. What a great first meal in Spain!

Yelp
First one staff came to acknowledge us and then seconds staff showed up literally she was extremely mad ... very Poor service, rude staff and overcharged us even though we did explain that we never got our first order and they said they fix it but we end up paying for what we didn't get.

Yelp
Service was not great. First impression, the minute u come in we were told we had 1.5 hours to eat. That is expressed in not the most polite manner. Tortilla was a bit cold towards the middle. The ibérico ham was good. The garbanzo beans were not great. The zamburinas were cold and kind of raw. We were disappointed with the food. We referenced TripAdvisor reviews and was not at all in line with the overall experience.

Yelp
Delicious food, great location, excellent servers. Arrived here late on a Monday night less than an hour after touching down in Seville. They were sadly out of the cauliflower starter, but it was understandable due to our dining time. The wine spritzer was our first ever experience with red wine mixed with tonic water and what a delightful surprise! We shared our plates, chicken with whipped vegetable potatoes, a classic Spanish omelet with potatoes and a crab sauce on top. Shared a salad starter and were too full for dessert! The prices for food are also super affordable, and we walked back to our apt after dinner. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Incredible food - possibly the best meal of my life and definitely the best tapas I had in Seville / Barcelona. The sauces on their dishes are to die for. Very much recommend the truffle cauliflower, oxtail stew, pork shoulder, prawn croquettes, garlic shrimp, lentil stew (so good). Make sure to get bread service to sop up all the sauces. Server was great (shoutout to Jose) and the good was so delicious. Great digestif to finish it off too.

Yelp
I rarely post here but this one was worth it. The food was completely overrated - of everywhere great in Sevilla, it was just ok - not bad, just ok (black squid with crispy rice had NO crispy rice and dessert - white chocolate with lime and phyllo was squirts of white chocolate, scoop of lime gelato and a tiny cracker that we decided must have been the phyllo. The best, however, was the service - completely aloof and totally put out that we were even there - terrible service!!! We asked for a 2nd bottle of water, waiter brings new glasses (its water), said we could use our current water glass so he put the new ones on the table and left - they stayed there for the rest of the meal even as other dishes were cleared - diva move did not work...... Seville has too much great food to waste a meal (or the extra price) on this one. Keep searching

Yelp
Sort of pricey for what you get! Please refer to "Assorted Anchovies" which comprised of 2 slivers of Melba toast with anchovy canapies for 5EU. Drinks were also more expensive here. I ended up here after another restaurant was fully packed. Concierge at my hotel recommended this place, but I was a bit weary since there weren't many reviews and it always seems empty when I walked by... They did have stews on the menu, which is unique for this particular area, both were both vegetarian. Online menu doesn't seem updated to reflect the price we paid. Despite turning down the "pan", one of the waiters tried to add an additional 2EU charge. When I asked him what it was for, he said the sherry that he presented to us at the end of the meal. It seemed like they gave it to everyone. Then I asked another waiter, who spoke more English, and the charge was promptly removed from the bill. If the number of patrons is any indication of how good the food is, this place was only half full while other places were jammed packed!

Yelp

Yelp
Castizo is a modern gastro-tapas place with a nice menu of updated Andalucian tapas and some interesting vegetarian dishes like a roasted cauliflower with aioli. A Sevillian food-loving friend recommended Castizo. There is an open kitchen and watching the chefs work in a constant balletic dance is fun. We thought the food was very good until we had what we considered a rather unprofessional upcharge on the rice of the day. This dish was listed at 7.5 on the menu. We ordered one. It was very good with a deep seafood stock base and was topped by one reasonably sized langoustine. Therein the rub. When our bill came the arroz del dia was listed at 14 E. We questioned that figure and were told that it was 'special' because of the langoustine. No one bothered to tell us that we were buying one very pricey langoustine atop the rice. Too bad, this left a very bad impression and we would have ordered a full plate of meat or fish if we wanted to spend 14 Euros. We also had the bunuelos of bacalao which were very good and a montadito with crispy calamari and aioli. Also good. The Tinto Veranos were massive and very good for 2.5 E. But people... tell your customers when you are doubling their bill for something please. There are too many excellent gastro-tapas places in Seville to put up with getting taken advantage of.
