Google
This our usual spot because it’s not only walkable but seriously amazing. Their beverages are so well executed, flavorful, and consistent. Staff is friendly and warm. Place is cozy. Our well-behaved pup is always welcome and receives a lot of love and a treat! You can tell the owners of Castle genuinely love coffee and community.

Google
Loved this place so much! Such a fun, chill, but beautiful vibe! I love their community focus, and it showed, based on the local crowd there to support on a Saturday morning. Coffee and staff were wonderful! What a gift for the neighborhood!✨☕️🥰

Google
Fantastic coffee shop. Feels quaint but actually has a lot of seating inside. Employees were great. The coffee is outstanding. Has a great atmosphere. Stopped in on our way through Albuquerque and hit the jackpot.

Google
I’ve been wanting to try this place out for a while and I’m so glad I made it. Great coffee, knowledgeable and friendly staff, good recommendations. This is the first time I’ve ordered a pour over and was provided with an empty cup and separate pouring vessel. I hate waiting for minutes for my full mug to cool down enough to actually taste it, and this is how I do it at home. On top of all that the prices were very fair.

Google
Got mine to go- was my first time here (I live out of state) and enjoyed it. Got a redeye and a raspberry tart. Both good. The staff were very friendly too. Seemed like a cool spot to hang, read or do some work on your laptop (whatever you might do at a cafe, haha). It was almost a full house so I imagine they’re a popular spot! Thanks.

Google
Today, I had a pleasure of meeting and being serviced by Abby. Such a pleasant, sweet girl, with a welcoming spirit. I was indecisive between matcha and coffee, cause duhh who doesn’t have the indecisiveness with those two things! Then I created them to be paired with something and she gave me her honest opinion, love that—we went with the rosemary olive bagel with an oat milk iced (new summer menu item) glazed bramble latte. Wow, the combination of these two. But them individually as well. Chefs kiss and actually what Abby mentioned to me “fate!” Thank you Abby and Castle Coffee <3

Google
Lovely little corner coffee shop tucked away on the northwest end of downtown. The ambience is very comfortable. It was neither overcrowded, nor empty. The staff are super friendly and ask your name as well as introduce themselves. The coffee is first rate too. I may have found a new hangout spot since my beloved bud and beans closed

Google
Laid-back, friendly atmosphere. The lavender mocha is delicious. Child friendly and my 5 year old loved the hot chocolate.

Yelp
Stopped by this local coffee spot and got a cortado ($3.50) with macadamia nut milk (extra $0.75). Thus was my first time trying macadamia milk and I really liked it. It gave the coffee a smooth, nutty flavor. I can also tell they use good beans here. The place gave me hipster vibes with cozy lounge seating, both indoors and outdoors. Service was great too. The baristas are friendly and overall just a nice chill spot to grab coffee and hang out.

Yelp
Both Castle Coffee locations have the kind of coffee shop vibe that every millennial is always on the hunt for: a clean comfortable laid back local community space. The staff is always as exceptional as the drinks, and the baked goods are sourced from great local spots around town. That said, I cannot recommend their seasonal specialties enough. Our favorite - The Glazed Bramble (balsamic and blackberry - TRUST) is the kind of drink you keep thinking about until you inevitably end up back at the counter to order another one. Don't sleep on checking this coffee shop out!

Yelp
Finally came to see the new Castle Coffee location since I was in the area. The service was very friendly and the space was cozy, loved the mural they had on their wall. Tasty coffee per usual. I ordered the lavender oat latte iced and grabbed my partner a caramel latte. Definitely feels like they've already got some regulars established there. Which is nice since I know folks were bummed about the former shop, Michael Thomas Coffee, closing this location. Will make it back if im ever in need of coffee in the area.

Yelp
I like Castle Coffee. It might not be one of the spots that I frequent but I do enjoy their coffee. They have genuinely good coffee and creative offerings. But the base is good which is so important. Baristas are always friendly and they have a good selection of pastries. Seating can be harder to come by depending on when you're there but they have added more options including some outdoor tables for the nicer weather.

Yelp
This is my first time buying anything here. As many people have said, have said, the service is friendly and helpful. As I write this, sitting at Castle Coffee, the room is nearly full. Probably due to the fact that it is Labor Day, so lots of people are here. My kids, who've been here multiple times, tell me that the number of people here today is higher than normal. The atmosphere is nice. The ice Mocha I got tastes great. The Croissant looks like it will taste good. I have one demerit have to give here. I suffer from migraine headaches caused by bright lights. Because seating is limited, I have no choice but to face the large windows. The light coming in is very intense and painful, to me. Fortunately, I always carry a brimmed hat to help me prevent a migraine, but if I didn't have it, I would get a migraine sitting here, drinking my latte and eating my Croissant. One last thing, I like to check the speed of the Wi-Fi at every coffee shop I visit. Castle Coffee's Wi-Fi speed is phenomenal. (Check the associated screen capture.)

Yelp
Great local spot with very chill vibes. Plenty indoor seating with free WiFi. There was a mix of patrons from a business meeting in a side room (available to rent for meetings!), to people reading books, or working on laptops. Staff was super friendly and helpful when deciding to try their bussin berry latte. They have every milk substitute under the sun (macadamia? Oat? Almond? They got it all!). I loved their community engagement featuring local artists and a table with local resources/events. Plenty of street parking in front. If you plan on driving here and camping out to knock out a few hours of work just keep an eye out for residential only parking, 1 hour only parking, and 2 hour only parking signs.

Yelp
Always such great friendly service & good coffee & pastry items! A fave neighborhood coffee shop.

Yelp
Castle Coffee is good! The staff is friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I ordered a macadamia latte with mocha and my order was brought out quickly. I brought my laptop to work, since I work from home and I'm really glad I found this spot. I felt comfortable to and welcome.

Yelp
REVIEW #24! The lobby is open when the store opens. You aren't competing for staff attention with drive-through customers. Gluten-free pastries. Art and plants. $3.00 "Batch Brew" includes a refill. COMETH.
google avatar

Konrad J.

Yelp
A small coffee shop with a limited coffee menu and even smaller food menu. A somewhat large transient population frequents this place. There isn't anything very memorable about this coffee shop; it's mainly just... there.

Yelp
I was in Albuquerque with a friend this morning, and we were craving a good local coffee. We saw Castle Coffee had stunning reviews and decided to give it a try. We were far from dissatisfied with our experience. Upon entering the little shop we were greeted by the most cheerful barista I believe I've ever met at a coffee shop. She was bright and helpful as were the rest of the staff we encountered. The decor of the shop is quirky and tasteful. They have an adorable selection of locally made pottery mugs and art. Along with a selection of Fellowship of The Ring Pez. A wonderful touch that made me feel right at home. I believe Tolkien would've been proud if I do say so myself. After going over the menu we both settled on the PSL (Pumpkin Spice Latte). It was the first of the season for both of us and wow. The coffee was smooth and tasted like it had real pumpkin in it. The sweetness was delectable. Enough to get rid of any bitterness but not enough to leave behind a nagging headache. Perfection. They also had a delightful small selection of baked goods. The Pistachio Croissant was the pick for us, and I fall short for words. They warmed it and it was buttery, nutty and sweet with exquisite flakiness. I could eat one of those joyfully on the regular. To end this review all I have to say is I hope I'm graced with the opportunity to come back to Castle Coffee in the very near future and hope you are inspired to give it a try as well!

Yelp
Great, very friendly local coffeeshop who does a very good job serving high quality coffee and ensuring customers know how much this shop appreciates them. There's plenty of space and the vibe is good with conversations going on and people hanging out at the cafe. I stopped by for a quick late breakfast and liked how tasty their iced latte was (I believe they made their own honey lavender syrup..because it was so yum and not overly sweet at all). Although the highlight was the quality coffee, their staff overall got 5+++ stars for sure! They know their customers really well and really try to please their customers both old and new!

Yelp
they used to sell breakfast burritos from Cafe Lush here, and i would go out of my way to get them because they were that good. they were also the perfect size and they would warm them using the sandwich press, so the tortilla had a perfectly slight crispness. today my husband went to get one for me and he didn't realize that the burritos now were different than before. these are not the ones from Cafe Lush anymore, and it was actually terrible. $9 for a vegan burrito that was really just a big lump of hashbrowns and mushrooms. i tried to be a soldier about it but couldn't eat more than 2 or 3 bites, while my husband took 1 bite and threw it away. sad day. at least their coffee is still good.

Yelp
Came here for a quick coffee run while in the Smiths shopping center and I'm so glad we did. Honestly everything looks pretty good and Mr. Castle was very knowledgeable about his coffee and love for coffee. I asked him to make me something good and I just trusted him to make it happen! If you don't trust your barista to whip up something delicious then sucks to be you! The coffee shop was very nice, clean and spacey. There were board games to play. Seems like a nice place to come with the whole family. I found a new favorite coffee spot that my kids can come and enjoy some games while I sip my drank. Customer service was great and I'll be back!

Yelp
Such a fine example of the downtown community. Great coffee, burritos and danish awaits you.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting this location. I just happened to see it on Instagram one day and decided to come in for a visit. This location is located in a mini mall. Which should definitely include some good parking spaces. Walked inside and was greeted by friendly staff and looked around the whole cafe. Lots of cozy seating areas. This place gave me like a rustic vibe. Very inviting. The menu is very simple, but yet very interesting as well. I decided to try their iced lavender latte and on the side, a blueberry lavender cake/donut. It was vegan and gluten-free which to me tasted pretty good. I didn't get a chance to stay and enjoy my coffee and dessert, but I will definitely be back here again since this is close to where I live. I love how they're bringing more places to venture out to in Rio Rancho. Next time I'll try something different and I'm sure I won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Plenty of parking space on the side of the street and plenty of seating space inside the coffee shop. Great environment to sit with friends, get work done, or just grab a coffee and go. They're also community-supportive by selling local artist mugs, hot sauces, and cards from local businesses. Great coffee selection, having a standard menu of different types of lattes, cold brew, Cortados, and other non-coffee items. I fell in love with the cherry bomb (which I say should be a regular standard on the menu). It was a great unison of sweet, sour and bold flavors. Cold brew lemonade is already a great coffee drink combination, but that cherry rosemary syrup just elevates the flavor to another level. Baristas are super sweet, and great to converse with if there isn't a line behind you. Definitely one of my top favorite coffee shops here in Albuquerque.

Yelp
Coffee was incredible, just got a black coffee and it was perfect. Breakfast burrito was large, tasty, filling, hot and ready to go. Parking is a little tricky as an FYI. Staff was super nice
google avatar

Yelp
Wonderful coffee, service and atmosphere. Got a cortado with cinnamon and it was perfection. They have a nice pastry selection but have not tried yet.

Yelp
So thankful this location is right by my work! Castle Coffee has the yummiest seasonal drinks (currently loving their campfire cappuccino), and their beans are also great for the coffee I make at home. I usually just take my coffee to go, but I love how bright and open this location is. The baristas are always super friendly!

Yelp
Best coffee i've had all year. Josh is amazing and the cafe is a pleasure to hang out in. Wish I lived in NM so i could come more often.

Yelp
I've heard great things about Castle Coffee, and we grind and brew their coffee at my church (Refuge Church on Taylor Ranch and Montaño, hit us up Sunday morning!) so I was excited to try their coffee. People of Albuquerque, the five-star reviews are well deserved! I tried their lavender latte, which is excellent. Lavender is tricky to get right and this was perfectly balanced. Next time I want to try their pour over or maybe the cortado. Either way, I will be back.

Yelp
Still thee best coffee in ABQ. Indie vibes. Good pastries. Friendly folks behind the counter. Chill spot, in a quiet neighborhood. Most of all, not a lot of yoga moms and screaming kids, a plus for me. Only one bozo on a zoom call but at least he was outside.
google avatar

Yelp
Food: - Batch brew (black coffee) - 10/10 on the drinkability scale temperature-wise - Cortado - first time having a cortado so I don't know how it rates, but I enjoyed how the milk offsets the strength of the black coffee (I don't typically drink coffee) - Sesame bun - this was my favorite food. Very fun to peel off the roll starting from the outside. Reminded me of those pecan buns from childhood, but this was lighter and didn't have the heavy, super-glazed/shiny/sugar-y mass-produced feel. There were even occasional special little pieces of cashew or piñon on top. - Affogato - omigoodness this was really excellent. There were "bready" pieces that might have been cookie dough? Or maybe just cooked dough. I liked the variation in texture that this added. I had this during breakfast and think it is perfect for any time of day. - Three Sisters Kitchen tofu breakfast burrito was excellent - I liked the flavor combination of hash browns, green chile, and tofu. You could really detect the individual flavors. - Three Sisters Kitchen red chile burrito - it was good, but I liked the tofu more. The red chile had more of a mish-mash-of-red feeling to it, rather than distinct flavors like the tofu. The burritos are kind of small just fyi. Service: - the person at the register was nice, helpful, patient, and a pleasure to deal with - the person bringing out the orders was friendly pleasant and kind, and kept good order wrt the bathroom line. I also like that they gave a cup of coffee to someone who probably couldn't pay. There was a person using the bathroom for a long time who seemed like they didn't have regular access to their own private bathroom. Hygiene is something so basic and important to everyone, so while this might have delayed the rest of the line, it's nice that everyone can access this bathroom. Ambiance - it's a chill atmosphere. It's in a quiet neighborhood, which gives it a laid-back feel. There's also a nice, calm-feeling conference room you can rent. They sell some merchandise (edible and non-edible) that you can purchase or browse - nice chairs with the perfect amount of give if you want to lean back

Yelp
Everything was amazing, the service, the environment. The drinks hit the spot and woke us up. Would come again
google avatar

Blayke A.

Yelp
Coffee was really good I ordered a hot caramel latte with oat would definitely get their coffee again if I was in the area. The breakfast burrito was also delicious and unique compared to most breakfast burritos that I've had. The only thing I'd knock this place for is that I unfortunately had a long piece of hair towards the end of the burrito. I didn't have the courage to say anything because I genuinely enjoyed the food and coffee and I was 3/4 of the way through the burrito. That is why I have to take one star off, but it happens I would 100% order here again.

Yelp
By far my favorite coffee shop in Albuquerque or Rio Rancho. I have been coming here for several years and never once have I had rude staff am I drink is consistently correct and delicious, which is pretty amazing. The seasonal drinks and homemade syrups are fantastic they have great pastries delicious burritos and a wonderful ambience overall. Highly recommend!!
google avatar

Yelp
My favorite coffee shop in Albuquerque! I continually say this but castle coffee is everything you could hope for in a coffee shop. The coffee is roasted just right and there is always care when the drinks are made. What really makes this my favorite coffee shop is the service and care that the employees have for their customers. Their customer service can't be beat! There is usually seating for about 20 inside and it is definitely worth stopping in before going to the growers market on a Saturday morning! TLDR: skip little bear coffee and come to castle you won't regret it!
google avatar

Bonnie C.

Yelp
Really good coffeehouse coffee (i.e. not Starbucks) The varietal I had reminded me of Little Bear Coffee. I purchased a Flat White, traditionally sized as an 8 oz. Great flavor and temperature. I also purchased a mocha latte that was rich and chocolaty without being overly sweet. Both baristas at the counter were helpful and friendly. After ordering, I sat at the counter and they brought me my coffees. Upon hearing one of them was a drink I was taking home, the barista brought me a splash stick to help keep the latte warm & from spilling. I like the clean, laidback vibe of the space - there is plenty of seating without feeling crowded. Highly recommend checking them out if you're in the Rio Rancho area.

Narrative P.

Yelp
In ABQ for a conference and I always look for the best coffee spot when I'm in a new town. Castle Creek delivers with great drinks and great service - it feels like a local spot that's friendly to newcomers. I went there twice and had the - PB & J Latte - Good balance of PB and Jam flavors - James and the Giant Peach - Nice blend of espresso, peach, and basil flavors, it does a good of mixing them without being too sweet.

Disne S.

Yelp
Great coffee and chi. Only bad thing is they're so busy they need more tables. Will definitely come back
google avatar

Tarrah C.

Yelp
Great new place in Rio Rancho!! Super friendly staff, excellent coffee and even a variety of pastries that included gluten-free and vegan options. This cafe is a keeper!!
google avatar

Matt G.

Yelp
kind and welcoming staff. They even bring the coffee right to your table which seems to not be the norm nowadays. Not to mention the pumpkin spice was the best I have ever had!
google avatar

Vanessa T.

Yelp
I recently found out about this place through Instagram and I am so glad I was able to finally try it. I stopped by the other day and ordered a cold brew with vanilla syrup and it was delicious! I love vanilla cold brews and this hit the spot! The atmosphere was great, and staff were friendly! I believe they only have one size for their drinks as I didn't see a size option on the menu. They have a couple of tables outside of their shop, employees wore gloves and masks, and they had markings on the floor to ensure a 6 ft distance between customers. I definitely will be back!
google avatar

Emma W.

Yelp
Ok this is gonna sound kind of crazy, but I think this is the best coffee shop experience I've ever had. First of all, I called a bunch of spots on New Year's Day and they were the only place to answer the call and were SO friendly over the phone. The in person customer service was no different - the guys there are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and have great banter. If you dine there, they bring your coffee out to your table and the guy even checked in on us later (this doesn't happen at coffee shops! At least not in my experience). The coffee itself was presented beautifully and delicious. My husband and I had two of their seasonal drinks: peppermint mocha and biscochito latte. So good! We also had one of their many scrumptious and vibrant donuts. There are a bunch of seating options indoors and outdoors. It's on a quiet street so there's plenty of free parking. Definitely check out Castle Coffee! I'd be here all the time if I lived in ABQ.

Yelp
Friendly staff, Amazing atmosphere, and of course the coffee was top shelf. Plenty of seating area, good place to study/work

Yelp
Great place for coffee and breakfast. The coffee is excellent and the baked goods are tasty. Staff are all consistently friendly & helpful.

Yelp
Drinks: There is a wide variety of coffee drinks available at Castle coffee. There is also a variety of non coffee drinks. I personally like their iced lattes. My personal favorite is the lavender latte with almond milk. If you stay in and drink in coffee they deliver drinks in a house mug or cup. Portions are appropriate and not too sweet or lacking. The price of kombucha is a bit expensive but I believe it's another party who sells the kombucha here. Food: The breakfast burritos are so good. The Chile is not spicy however in the burritos. The wide variety of pastries are great for those who may have vegan, vegetarian, or gluten free needs. I highly reccomend the pastries here! Service: The baristas who work here at Castle are always very nice. When dining in, they bring drinks to your table instead of calling out your name. The drinks always come out great due to their awesome effort. When taking some time to make decisions they are patient and offer guidance based on taste preferences. Service is incredible here :)

Yelp
This place is so delightful, clean, calm, cute and inviting. It's a really quaint space with lots of big windows and natural light. I strolled by when I was running an errand downtown and got a coffee to go. I was very happy to notice that the take out products are compostable!!!! The staff were very kind and personable. They even introduced themselves and shook my hand after they handed my coffee over. The menu has a nice variety of different items at reasonable prices. I really like this place and I hope to go back soon!

Yelp
Straight up sincere service and vibe 10/10 blah blah but let's get to the real review. Went to do my thang and the restroom was occupied..dude behind the counter winked at me and said don't worry you are next. I went and sat down thinking I will just try later and my man straight up came and told me I could go. Really felt like they cared about making sure I got my BM taken care of. Upon entering it's clear that the space will accommodate any needs you may have. Plenty of space to undress and hang clothes, optional shower was a huge plus. I stored a few things behind the mirror when I hung my trousers which brought a sense of security. All toiletries were well stocked and accessible. No plunger but the toilet means business so give it your all. 10/10 would poop again.
google avatar

Emma S.

Yelp
My new favorite coffee shop!! The staff is so friendly, great seasonal specials, a Christian mission, and an overall good vibe! I got the maple pecan special as a flat white and hot dang is it fall in a cup!! The barista Steve is so nice and knowledge. Alex was working the counter and she remembers almost everyone's names! I'm so impressed! I've been twice in less than a week!
google avatar

Holly C.

Yelp
Service: the people who work there are so friendly and patient because I wasn't sure what I wanted. The guy at the counter was really sweet and showed me all the teas available and told be about the chai, which is what I ordered. Coffee/ Beverage: I didn't order food but the person I met up with said the burritos there are phenomenal! The chai I had was slightly sweetened but delicious! Overall: I really loved the atmosphere there and plan to go back and try the burrito and some more drinks! They have a very homey feeling.

Yelp
Castle coffee is such a lovely coffee shop! I really love the comfy ambiance they gave. When you walk in it's like walking into a friends house. It's warm and welcoming. The staff are some of the most genuinely friendly, kind, and welcoming people. They handle the guest and people who live around with compassion and kindness. I was blown away with how warm they are with anyone that comes in. Thanks for always being so lovely and genuine when I stop in. Also the lavender latte so good!

Yelp
"A flat white for a flat white." Great staff, great coffee, great space, all the things you need.

Yelp
Literally one of the best coffee shops in Rio! The workers are always super friendly and personable. The drinks they make are always delicious and never burnt. The pastries are delicious and definitely try the vegan breakfast burrito. It's one of my favorites! Nice, quiet little shop! I highly recommend!

Yelp
Castle Coffee is such a vibe. Located in the downtown area of ABQ, it is a quiet spot for meeting a friend or getting some work done. They even have some small 2-person tables outside which was perfect on an abnormally cool summer morning. I got the lavender latte with oat milk. Lavender lattes are normally hit or miss for me. They are often too floral or sickeningly sweet. However, Castle Coffee's lavender syrup is perfect. The lavender is present but not overpowering, and the sweetness level is perfect. I also really liked the oat milk that they used. I forgot to ask what brand, but it was perfect. You would never know that it wasn't dairy. They also had some decadent appearing donuts in their pastry case, so I will have to return and then update my review after I try those. The customer service was also superb. The woman at the counter was very friendly, as was the barista who prepared my drink. I would honestly return for the customer service alone. Overall, 5/5 coffee shop in ABQ.

Yelp

Yelp
WOW this place is AH-MAH-ZING. The two guys working (Josh and Matt I believe?) were so incredibly friendly and welcoming to us. We are visiting from out-of-state (CA is a shithole) and we will hopefully be making ABQ our new home. They were helpful and just overall fantastic, service and conversation and all. We got a hot lavender latte and and iced caramel latte with an artisanal donut. SO GOOD. Seriously. The coffee is perfect and the drinks are not overly sweet. These guys are professionals!! We'll be back guys!

Yelp
Dropped 2 stars only based on the chai tea latte. I really wanted to love it, they brew their own chai with tea bags and can adjust the sweetness to what you'd like. But it simply wasn't flavorful enough for my preferences. If you like a really mild milk forward chai this is a great option but for me I prefer a stronger spicier flavor. Maybe if I'd asked for a sweeter one (vs lightly sweet) I would have gotten a better flavor. Extremely nice shop owner and barista and I suspect, as other reviewers note, their coffee would be superb but as a non-coffee drinker it wasn't my cup of tea. Mostly writing this review because I think the shop owner will likely take feedback well based on my interaction with him. If I hadn't taken my drink to go I suspect they would have tried to adjust it to be more my liking. As a suggestion, it would be great to consider carrying 2 types of chai with the house made one and a stronger flavored one (my all time favorite is Bhakti - a spicy liquid concentrate made in Boulder, CO). Atmosphere and friendliness is top notch!
