Castle of the Bishops of Sigüenza

Traveling through Sigüenza we stopped at the castle / hotel to see the architecture and the hotel itself (which is magnificent). This review is to the wonderful woman at the front desk, whose name I missed. I asked for a bit of advice and she was so welcoming, and made me feel like I just asked a close cousin for advice on her hometown. As I write this several days later, we are still exploring some of the towns she recommended. The hotel is magnificent, the staff make it a five star experience. I want to thank her so much for the help and joy.

Beautiful and interesting Parador. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant served interesting local dishes and the wine recommendation was great. I wanted to buy some olive oil that was served in the restaurant but reception did not seem to know if it was possible even though Parador in Avila do sell theirs. Lovely stay would return.

The building, a medieval castle, is unbelievable. Beautiful, magnificent, overwhelming. The service depends on the people, although generally considered is good enough. The cleaning ladies, in our view, were the nicest. The worst, in our experience, is that some rooms smell quite bad (sewage; mostly comes from air-conditioning). Fortunately, it is no problem to change to another room. Parking is quite challenging, and the info provided by the front desk in relation to that is disappointing.

The Parador is well placed on a hill in a stunning location. It has attractive architecture and is full of history. Our room was spacious, well decorated and very clean. The bar and dining area were equally grand and spacious. At the moment works are being carried out to upgrade the facilities at the Parador and these weren't obtrusive. The staff however were struggling to perform to 100% with cheerfulness during these works.

Incredible experience 😍 beautiful renovated castle immersed in nature, very clean rooms too, with all the necessary amenities. All of the staff was so kind, polite and helpful! The breakfast was great with a large selection of options, and is served in a beautiful hall. Greatly recommend it, what an experience!

We travelled with a group of 30+ on a driving hotel and stayed for 1 night on a dinner bed and breakfast basis||||The building is really special and takes a lot of beating. The whole hotel was very spacious particularly the dining rooms. Our room was very comfortable and could not be faulted. Good but limited parking on site but plenty more just outside the hotel.||||However in common with the other paradores we stayed in (6 in total) the service and food did not fully live up to the quality of the accommodation. The food was really only OK and service had a few lapses. Drinks service in the bar was torturous primarily down to the weak/poor till system!!||||Overall a very pleasant stay but maybe make a dinner reservation in town to eat

This truly was a very unique stay. The whole place is a marvel and as you walk through you can’t help imagining what went on in those rooms back in the day.||We stayed in a suite complete with a four poster bed and lounge area. The furnishings were in the old style and suited the surroundings. WiFi was terrible but perhaps that’s what happens with walls that are several feet thick. We experienced a couple of power cuts, but they were rectified relatively quickly. Buffet breakfast was great, but the dinner was very average.||We stayed there as part of a group tour, so cannot review in relation to cost (which is unknown), but on face value, it was an amazing experience to stay in a 14th century castle.

We stayed in a superior room which was delightful, if dark and we were fortunate to have a room with a beautifully renovated bathroom. The bed was enormous, very comfortable and we slept well.|Unfortunately our stay was marred by the terrible breakfast. The staff were clearly overwhelmed by the presence of a large group of 4O or more, which left them struggling to cope. We were served barely warm coffee and an out of date yogurt which we managed to bring to the attention of staff who seemed disinterested. We then ordered eggs and smoked bacon to set us up for a long day on the road, unfortunately it was completely cold and it was impossible to attract the attention of the staff as they were so busy.|We raised this with reception on checkout and they said they could not refund the considerable cost of breakfast and that I should write to complain. I could have got a far better breakfast in a local bar for a fraction of the cost.|I have stayed in a number of Paradores and the dining experience here was far below the norm.|The building work continues so be aware.

This place was AMAZING!!! Once we were able to secure reservations, our experience was the best. The service was personable, detailed and generous. They attended to every need. The food was awesome, the best dessert we tried was the lavender yogurt. Funny to see that in a dessert, but it worked! The ambiance is so inviting! Please do yourself a favor and go, stay and enjoy the little town. It's beautiful.

This review is for their amazing restaurant. The place is charming, staff every attentive and the food is amazing!!! I made reservation ahead of time and got an amazing table by the window. They have a pre set menu and also a la cart.
