18 Atlanta Bars and Restaurants Serving Top-Notch Margaritas | Eater

"Pub grub, lively conversation, high-energy sports action on the TVs, and friendly competition by the dartboard are some great things to experience at Castleberry Ale House. Wings are a specialty, and a baker’s dozen of sauces requires difficult decisions, but beer-battered fish and chips are a no-brainer. (But, why not both?) An Astral Tequila margarita goes with anything you select, so truly you can’t make a wrong choice." - Steven Craig Lindsey

Google
I don't normally give 5-star reviews, but Castleberry Ale House earned it. The food is very good and yet inexpensive (I had the "small" order of chicken wings and couldn't finish them all). The staff and regulars are friendly, and the atmosphere is exactly what you'd want in a neighborhood bar.

Google
Nice service by Randy our chatty and happy bar tender. Good selection of beers on tap. Didn’t get a chance to try food here yet. Surely will try next time and provide an updated review.

Parking lot was packed and it was pretty busy inside, but we were seated quickly (on a Friday night). Server was friendly and food came out fairly quick, was hot and the prices are very reasonable. Fish & chips & ck Alfredo were good, but the breaded chicken items were a bit bland. There was sauce to remedy that so it was fine.

Overall I enjoyed our meal, but it was nothing special. The service was ok, the place itself was clean and decorated like a typical sports bar type restaurant, and the prices were about average. I had a french dip sandwich and it was tasty, but it didn't have very much meat on it. The rest of the table was happy with their meals and the portions. We did make a request that was reasonable and common, to add half a rack of ribs to an entree, we were refused. I didn't push it but they had half a rack on another menu item so I'm confident that they had the ability to honor the request. I would go back again if asked, but I probably wouldn't be the one to suggest it.

Google
Castleberry Ale House is a solid local spot in Cumming. The food is consistently good, and they have a well-stocked full bar with a decent selection of draft beers. The kids menu is strong, which makes it a good option for families, and it’s great that they’re open late, which is a rare find in the area. That said, portions can be a bit small for the price, and on a few visits, the service has been friendly but somewhat checked out. Still, the overall vibe is relaxed, and it’s a dependable go-to for casual dinners or drinks. Worth checking out if you're nearby and want good food with a laid-back atmosphere.

Google
$6 pitchers of Gensee Ale and Miller light, you’d think I hopped in a Delorian and went back to 1999! So if you’re looking for somewhere to get good eats and cheep beer look no further. Food is great portions are the portions are huge. We come here often and my husbands hockey beer league is a staple at this place. 🍻

Yelp
Hidden little spot in Cumming. It's definitely tucked away back in a strip full of other stores and restaurants, but I'm so glad I stumbled upon it! If you know and like Black Diamond Grill, this is similar but just on a much smaller scale. Same kind of vibe and atmosphere, and seems like a lot of locals like to just come and hang at the bar for a drink. All indoor seating, but offers a good amount of high tops and even a few booths. I'm not sure if their A/C is broken or just not powerful enough, but the two times my husband and I have gone, they had a big industrial-sized fan going near the entrance to help with the indoor temp. It didn't bother me one bit and certainly didn't feel too warm, I just wondered if this was normal for them in the summer or a temporary thing. The food menu offers everything you'd expect from an Ale House and of course, they've got an extensive beer and cocktail menu as well. The Buffalo Chicken Queso Dip was a delicious starter, just maybe a little heavy on the blue cheese crumbles for me. However, the flavor of the buffalo dip was fantastic and I couldn't get enough! I also enjoyed a cup of their French Onion Soup cause if you know me, you know that's my absolute favorite soup of all time (yes, even in the peak of summer). It was very well done and I basically licked the bowl clean. I got the soup and salad combo which is offered at a very reasonable price and I chose to just go with their House Salad which also hit just right and was the perfect portion. Service was fantastic both visits! Excited to make this a staple local spot for my husband and I!

Yelp
My husband and I decided to check out Castleberry Ale House since they reopened from their remodeling. We got there at the perfect time! The place looks great!! I ordered the Ale House burger with Swiss cheese rare w/tater tots. My burger was delicious, made exactly how I ordered. My husband ordered the beer batter fish and chips. He said it was delicious too. We both had a few rounds of the house margaritas! The owner came to see us, got to love another OSU Fan!!

Yelp
We took a group of friends from out of town to eat here. The chicken was overcooked. It was so thin too. We were embarrassed that we took our friends to this restaurant.

Rex K.

Yelp
Best local bar around, the food is outstandin. The atmosphere is inviting and highly recommend to everyone.

Yelp
Best service! Food was great as well. We really enjoyed our dinner and will return. Bonus is that it is so close to home.

Melissa S.

Yelp
Called and ordered potato skins, no chives, and a side of steamed veggies. While it was a small simple order, the management and bartender treated me like I had ordered $1000 worth of food. Very clean restaurant and the food came out perfectly and was delicious. Can't wait to go back to try more of their menu.

Yelp
Tried Castleberry Ale House for the first time Saturday night to have dinner after the reviews looked good. During a relatively short wait for a table I noticed some very hard rock songs playing at pretty loud volume over the sound system, but didn't think too much about it until after we sat down and ordered. Many disgusting super HARD rock songs kept playing, some with vile lyrics, and small children had to hear it. We got a little relief when a country song would come on, but then back to revolting HARD rock. I might expect this at the Hard Rock Cafe or a biker bar, but did not expect this at a neighborhood ale house. We told 3 staff members how repulsive this was to us, but none could or would do anything about it, not even turn down the volume since it was rather loud. What a shame, my fish and chips were good, but we will never be setting foot in this establishment again.

Suzy D.

Yelp
A great neighborhood restaurant! Nice menu with lots of options. Very good - attentive - service! Food was very good / properly presented, hot off the grill and perfect portion size. It's a sports bar. Will definitely return when in the area.

Deborah H.

Yelp
i ordered the Ale house melt. i had the bourbon sauce added to the chicken. when it came out it looked good i was excited to dig in. however the chicken had no flavor and was over cooked the sauce had zero flavor. i liked the price however i wouldn't go back

Brittany D.

Yelp
The bartender is super friendly. She's always takes care of us. They gave great bucket of beer deals and I love the jalapeño mozzarella sticks!!

Yelp
Came here with the bff to work through her wedding planning over lunch and drinks. Neither of us had been here before, but after living in Florida and loving the Orlando Ale House, we figured it couldn't be much different. It was VERY different. Not in a good way or bad way, just different. If I had one complaint was that the special drink menu just really said what drinks were available but not what is actually in them. There were also no prices. When we asked the server, she didn't know. So we waiting for the bartender to come over and tell us about the drinks and then we had to remember what was in the drinks after she left while we made our decisions. So putting a description under the drink name on the menu would be very helpful. I got a bourbon burger and my friend got the sliders. Both of us really enjoyed the food. It was pretty good. The drinks were just meh. You can really tell when low quality ingredients are used and the bartender is trying to make up for it by putting in way too much alcohol. More alcohol doesn't mean a better drink and can drastically change the taste of the drink. So, the food is why this is getting 3 stars. The drinks and service is why it lost stars.

Yelp
Great food. Great atmosphere. Excellent service!! Our favorite wing and burger spot! The remodel looks fantastic!

Joseph S.

Yelp
disappoints every time! only go for drinks, the food and service is bad. I would recommend spending your money elsewhere.

Dante D.

Yelp
Great food. Service is always friendly. There's a nice atmosphere and a ton of TVs to watch sports. Great music with the jukebox. I go all the time with my family. 10/10 , will definitely be going again.

Todd B.

Yelp
Gave it 2 stars only because our server was great considering the circumstances. Two servers running around a 3/4 fuil restaurant while there were 3 bartenders are a less than half full bar. The food and wait times were less than desirable. Ordered beer and 10 minutes later we got semi warm beer. After waiting longer than we should we were finally able to order some appetizers. Got chips/salsa and mozzarella sticks. Chips were stale and the cheese sticks were cold. Sent them back, and what we got was the same order only they had been microwaved. So instead of getting a new order, we got the same only minus the two sticks that were bitten into. Purely lazy and completely unacceptable. The main meal was so-so. Hamburgers were asked to be medium and they came out well done. One person had pasta with chicken and it was warm but not hot and the chicken tasted like something out of a frozen bag. All in all I would not recommend this place and will not go back. We went because we had never gone and it looked like a good place to eat. Well it fooled us and a $100+ bill for food that a fast food restaurant would be ashamed to serve was the icing on the cake. DO NOT GO, go to an Applebee's or somewhere like that. The food is way better.
google avatar

Lauren B.

Yelp
The appetizers and sides are so good! Their drinks are great and cheap! The meals aren't great, but it's a great time to play pool or darts on the weekend.
google avatar

Rhonda W.

Yelp
We had a party' of 5, and each of us ordered something totally different . 2 had pasta dishes, they were good , but weren't totally hot when served.... One had a hamburger , it was amazing ... and I had lemon pepper wings ... they were great !!! Drinks are very reasonable and our server did a great job. I will be back

Scott P.

Yelp
They're always super friendly and I love the place but I came for ribs. They haven't had ribs the last several times I came. They should be removed from the menu if you're not going to serve them. I wish you well but I'm done with Castleberry.

Sonia R.

Yelp
We walked inside and asked for a booth. The staff member said yes fine and proceeded to give the menus to another staff member who said there were no booths available. We pointed out open booth and she said the station was closed. Unfortunately, the place was not that inviting to wait for a booth or sit on a high chair. We did not stayed. One star is generous.

Yelp
For the third time that I have been going up there frequently to say the least I have been disrespected by the owner's son Aaron. It pains me because I love the location, service/staff and most of all good time's that I have had up there with the right combination. However three times doesn't seem like an accident and I am not even counting any negative interactions where I could have been at fault in as I am not claiming I am perfect... in other words he is too entitled and too empowered for me to say while he is there that this is a good long term place to make your home bar any more!
google avatar

Shannon D.

Yelp
Just popped in for a few drinks. We were greeted right away and asked if we preferred a high top or booth. We asked for a high top and had to wait a minute or two for it to be cleaned. While waiting a bartender stopped by to make sure we had been taken care of. We were undecided on which beer to try and our waitress offered samples of the 2 we were going back and forth on. I appreciated the sample since it is $6.25 a glass. We had great service and the staff were friendly. We ended up getting a "snack." Hubby got hot wings and I got onion rings. The Cajon ranch with the onion rings was good. Everything was fried perfectly. Lol
google avatar

Leanne M.

Yelp
Plan on spending time here, service is alow!! Food is always good. Only appear to have one server working today in addition to the bartender. They were very busy around lunch. Usually I would say service wasn't great but I think it's management, not the actual server. Wait staff is friendly and even apologized to us for the slow service, especially from the bar (bartender was out taking orders too). We'll definitely come back, just hope management hires additional servers for peak hours. Cons- I hate paper straws so next time I'll brink my own
google avatar

Linda D.

Yelp
We now have a go-to place! Food was spot on delicious, service, excellent, drinks- . Dustin the manager came over to talk with us and was so personable, our server, Lindsay was new and found out a lot of info for food sensitivity needs. All around great place to enjoy a meal and adult beverage.
google avatar

Kat K.

Yelp
Fun sports pub with typical tavern/pub fare and a fun environment. We've been a few times and this time we went on a Wednesday evening. It was the busiest we had seen it as there was poker and trivia going on. Prices are decent and food is what you would expect. Had the spinach dip as a shared app and ordered wings, which were both delicious.

Scott C.

Yelp
The bartenders are cool and they have decent TVs and so it's a good option for sports. They also stay open late. The food is inconsistent. The grilled chicken salad is pretty weak and the tacos about the same. The Cajun chicken sandwich is solid and the wings are good on the right day. The nachos are a pass. Go for a few beers and sit at the bar. Stick to the wings
google avatar

Alicia D.

Yelp
The owner/GM is so unprofessional. Great bartenders but the owner makes it very uncomfortable and not enjoyable.
google avatar

Lindsey M.

Yelp
Great atmosphere for drinking with a pool table, darts and plenty of TV for sports. However, their food is not very good. The burger was fine, nothing special. The French dip and au jus was extremely salty. My husband poured water in the au jus to tone it down. Their fries are horrible. I don't think I'll return.

Jon W.

Yelp
Excellent Best Burgers on the area. Great neighborhood restaurant and pub. Great staff, menu and service.

Jeff D.

Yelp
I will never go here again. The owner had the audacity to scream at my 14 year old for doing nothing! I've never felt the need to scream at a 14 year old in my life that wasn't my own, let alone in a public setting like that. Why he wouldn't approach an adult that he was with if he had a problem is beyond me. Food is pretty good here and there are a lot of good people working here, which is why i gave it 2*. It is a shame we cant go there anymore but i will never give my business to a man like that. You are going to be losing a lot of business. So everyone knows, this is a bar, not a family friendly restaurant. Don't bring your kids here.

Yelp
Just moved down the road from this restaurant and decided to try it out. Inside it has your typical sports bar feel; lots of tv's and a nice bar. They are currently seating patrons at every other booth due to COVID-19 if you choose to eat in; however, I found it very interesting that everyone at the bar (and it was basically completely full) were seated directly beside each other with no masks or social distancing. That didn't really impact me personally, but I found it interesting that there were serving at the bar that way considering the rising numbers and current executive orders around the pandemic. Back to food, though. We got the buffalo shrimp as an appetizer, which was very good. I will be honest, though, and say I probably wouldn't order again simply due to the size of the appetizer compared to the price. It was only about 8 or 9 shrimp, which was not very much in my opinion. But, still, very tasty! Otherwise, their menu has a great selection of food and I had a very hard time picking just one thing to eat. I ended up going with the ribs and my partner got a burger. Overall, the food was solid and perfectly met my expectations. While I wouldn't say it was the best meal I've ever had, to me it was exactly what I anticipated from a casual local sport bar and is definitely a spot I'll visit again, especially if/when there's a sports game I want to watch out. The prices are extremely reasonable and this is one of the few restaurants in the area that you can get a decent meal at a fairly low price. I'm looking forward to going back to try some of the other dishes that sounded great soon!
google avatar

Melissa M.

Yelp
Food here is so so. I would not recommend pretzel bites. Chopped salad is ok but I would not recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
First visit and this little place had a neighborhood feel to it, but also welcoming. Staff was friendly and the service was quick. The lighting was a little dark but appropriate. College football on the several screens on this Saturday afternoon, and as a Michigan Wolverine I don't hold it against them for having a couple of Buckeye jersey's on the wall. As we were leaving and the sun was setting they displayed a football game on the outdoor patio wall. Buckets of beer are reasonably priced and you can mix and match. The potato skins and BBQ burger are delicious and there are many other menu items to choose from. This will not be our last visit. Lastly, all staff wore masks and it appeared to be COVID friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
We had a large group on a Friday. The staff was friendly and able to seat us after about 20 minutes. Our server did great getting waters out quickly. Our drink orders were also prompt and good. I had a chocolate martini and my hubs had the Georgia Peach Tea. We did potato skins and shrimp for our app, both were tasty. I had the chicken with bacon and mushrooms for dinner and my hubs had ribs. Both meals tasted good, service was good and they had a pool table and dart board that the kids enjoyed while we were there. Good spot if you want chill sports bar vibe.

Betty O.

Yelp
This place is so great! Food is amazing and the service and friendliness are wonderful! Ambiance of the place is chill and nice. Would highly, highly recommend.

Yelp
3 stars is about right for Castleberry Ale House. Pros: -Beer is always ice cold. Good selection too. -Friendly bartenders/staff -Wings are good. -Great spot for NFL football. Tons of TVs, not a bad seat in the place to catch your team. Will see fans of every team in here on a Sunday afternoon. -Overall fairly priced. Cons: -Food is very inconsistent. I mention the wings here being good. They are. But they come out slightly different every single time I order them. I literally order wings every time I'm here and they're all over the map. Sometimes a bit dried out, sometimes perfect etc. I'm addicted to buffalo wings which is why I continue to order these I guess... -Seems like the waiter/waitress staff has a lot of turnover. Sometimes we'll get one of the regular servers and it's great service. Other times we'll notice more new people. For whatever reason seems like they can't keep good people around.
google avatar

Jim F.

Yelp
MANAGER DOES NOT LIKE SERVICE ANIMALS AND THEY WILL NOT BELIEVE YOU EVEN WHEN YOU PRESENT THE PAPERWORK. Will REPORT the business and the manager that was on duty tonight. Had high hopes for this place until we were confronted by the uncaring manager tonight. Giving them a 1 Star because of attitude of the manager. We left very insulted. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
google avatar

Amy S.

Yelp
We love it here! Staff is always friendly and service is always fast. We go weekly and have never had a bad experience. Very lucky to have them close by!
google avatar

Zena S.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible experience. My son is special needs and has a provisional license. Even though he is of age they refused to serve him. The waitress belittled him and made him feel very self conscious that he doesn't have a full license yet. I will never go back and after seeing some of the reviews on yelp about denying service to others with service dogs, etc. I think this business has a real issue with the disabled.
google avatar

S B.

Yelp
First, it's a bar!! Good news, the staff is friendly and attentive for the most part. Food is what you'd expect, nothing special or really great but for Forsyth county it's one of the cheapest places to grab a bite and some beers. Good ol Days is better but Castle is closer.

Ed M.

Yelp
We had a business meeting and Jay Jay did great job taking care of us. This is a great place for Lunch. One of the best burgers. My coworkers loved the wings!
google avatar

Jason D.

Yelp
And the NEW Best Wing Champion is...Castleberry Ale House. The Sweet Chili Wings, ordered "Crispy", were the best I'd had in a while, anywhere.

Carson H.

Yelp
Won't accept a vertical ID for alcohol. Showed 4 other forms of ID including a pilots license but got denied. Said to h3ll with them, went to Los Maguey next door. Cheaper and didn't have to put up with their bu11shit.
google avatar

DietPepsiGirl C.

Yelp
Great wings! Omg. They don't try to be anything but what they are which is a local sports bar.
google avatar

Brett E.

Yelp
Meh...it was fine. We came in for lunch, I got a burger that was cooked ok. The wife got the Pecan Encrusted Chicken Salad that the chicken was over cooked, dry as a bone, and flavorless. The beer was cold, and the motif fits the quintessential sport bar theme perfectly, but not the best bar food we've ever had. Service was good, but the waiter didn't know a lot about the beer selection and had a hard time offering suggestions.
google avatar

Tyler I.

Yelp
Very nice place. Sat at the bar and had dinner very attentive and friendly staff. The food was very good and the beer was great. You won't be disappointed if you choose this restaurant.
google avatar

Cliff S.

Yelp
I picked wings to go last night and they were terrible. No flavor and they tasted old. I will never get food there again. Waste of money.
google avatar

Tyler J.

Yelp
Pretty bad place. The food was bland and terrible. The pictures on the menu looked so amazing, but what was delivered was so cost cut it wasn't even the same. Don't waste your time.

Yelp
Our fav restaurant! Awesome food and service! Dustin is our favorite server. Great personality and extremely attentive! Ask for him!
