The Atlanta Guide to Local Grocery Stores, Local Food, CSA and Coffee Delivery Services, Wine and Liquor Stores, and Farmers Markets | Eater Atlanta

"Operating Sundays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., this market focuses on providing local produce and organic foods to its neighborhood while explicitly serving food-insecure communities west of downtown Atlanta, positioning itself as both a retail and community food-access resource." - Jennifer Zyman

Who doesn't like stuff wrapped in dough and deep fried? Psychopaths that's who. This larger than other empanadas prove that size does matter... tasty fillings in a deep fried crust hit the spot on a crisp fall day. If you are fan of flavor then these are for you! This seemingly family affair has an efficient but very friendly feel. I only tried one flavor, and it was delicious, but the corn crust is the star of the show. Crispy and moist with a strong corn flavor. It transported me from a parking lot in Atlanta to a Colombian night market. I would recommend these after a few drinks, before you have a few drinks, during and just because you are hungry!

I enjoyed all of the vendors and samples that they offered. Ultimately, I purchased some hibiscus syrup and strawberries. I also left with several cards for potential purchases in the future.

Love the farmers market! Great, organic, fresh, produce! plus ready to eat or cook food items. You can buy your Monday night dinner! And, it’s safe! Vendors wear masks as do patrons

We love this farmers market! We get fresh vegetables, fruit, coffee, amazing bread, cookies, samosas, pie, hot sauce... all kinds of great stuff. And, we typically get our Monday night dinner - practically ready-to-eat! Salmon patties from Dancin salmon or Nishas Flavors of India-feta/spinach samosas!

Really diverse offering of locally produced products! More than ever we need good quality farmers markets like Castleberry. Love that the market is following safe practices too.

Yelp
We spent about an hour taking a spin around the market on a Sunday afternoon. My pics are from a few of the vendors who I patronized. Check those out if you want to see and example of the items there. In addition to those items, we bought some frozen chicken sausage (from Lawton's Chicken Sausage), strawberry jelly, miniature desserts, and body scrub (from Off Grid Sis) If you're a first-timer, you need to know that the market is in an empty parking lot (as is every other farmer's market I've ever been to that's not on an actual farm). Thus, parking is only on the street. It's free but it's also hit or miss. We parked on the next street over. The neighborhood is similar to any urban downtown, so I suggest keeping your heard on a swivel as you walk toward the market. Once there, visitors are greeted at the welcome table and given a punch card that gets you a discount after so many visits...I'm personally curious about how that works irks with independent vendors. The vendors are what you'd expect...mainly food and beverage items, mixed in with some health and skincare items. We probably bought from about half the vendors there and my pictures show some of those items. All of these people are in social media and you can also purchase from many that way. As far as a farmer's market goes, I'd want to see more vendors, more fresh produce and more activity. To be fair, some of the food items I would've been interested in were sold out by the time we arrived. I don't live in the city, but I imagine that this market is one of the ways to get fresh produce and organic foods into an area that may be a food desert or food desert adjacent. So far, I'm mostly happy with the items we bought. Luckily, one of the vendors had a DJ booth and was spinning music to help liven up the atmosphere. We don't live close enough to plan to be back here but if we're in the area, one of us may run in to grab something while the other idles in the car. Other things to note: there's a portapotty available. I had to take my 3yo to it twice in the time there. It's clean enough and well stocked with tissue and had a container of Clorox wipes so you could sanitize to your mind's content. That said, if you don't usually carry hand sanitizer on you, you may want to grab some for the market experience.

Yelp
I so look forward to many more open invitations from yelp!! We are beyond grateful to have been invited to the Castleberry farmers Easter Day festivities! My family had a blast! We were able to try different foods, inquire about many other teas, candles, fresh seafood etc. They had all types of different things to try/ purchase. We tried the taco truck that was sooo amazing, we also had some fresh croissants, along with a very good fresh cold tea stand. Everyone was so nice & joyful while serving/selling anything. They gave us free samples which was really cool before you purchased anything as well. My children were able to have an Easter egg hunt, games, coloring, face paintings & a live dj! How could i forget that they also gave out free popcorn, cotton candy & waters to everyone there! It was such a vibe. Truly awesome & well put together. We would attend as a family, any family friendly events that we do get invited to in the future!

Yelp
I had the opportunity to bring my nephew out on Easter Day and he had a great time at this event. Good music, activities and plenty vendors to choose from. The only thing I disliked was the parking situation. Literally paid $20 parking for nothing but it is what it is. Anyways it's great to come out and support local businesses. Also there was a taco food truck as well.

Yelp
First time coming out here! Thanks to Yelp! I really enjoyed this market because it has quality products. Natural, locally owned small businesses.. I picked up sourdough bread, lavender honey as well as waistbeads. Only street parking so make sure you are good at parallel parking. UNSURE if we are allowed to park on the street are not. I enjoyed myself though!

Yelp
I love this market and visit every Sunday with my pup (we're lucky that we live in the neighborhood). It is small, but with the support of new & returning patrons it has the potential to grow (help them grow!). Even though it's small, there is still a good variety of vendors (seafood, sweets, tea, coffee, produce, cooked food - I had some delicious tacos today). If you've never been to a farmers market before, this one is great because it's not overwhelming like some of the much larger ones. You can stay up to date on what vendors will be there thru their instagram or mailing list (I promise I'm not affiliated, I just really want to see this market flourish). Note, that if there's an event in the area parking can be a bit of a pain, but on just a regular Sunday there's plenty of free parking. It's also very close to the Reverb hotel, so you can always pop in there to use their restrooms if needed.

Yelp
Such a hidden gem and I didn't know about this. It's a nice farmers market with unique vendors that I was able to find due to a yelp elite event today. There was an assortment of cage free eggs, healthy cakes, and also kawa and home essentials. Love the space. Parking can be a challenge and be prepared for street parking. Thanks Erica for organizing and great to meet the entire crew.

Yelp
I stopped by for an Elite event but ended up perusing the market instead when the sponsor of the event suffered technical difficulties that made the wait too burdensome for me. I can appreciate what Ciara said about parking being tough. I, too, was worried whether I'd parked legally but with limited time, I just threw my shifter into park and hoped for the best. The parking deities must have had an eye on me tonight, for I left unscathed this time. Regardless of that issue, what I appreciate about local farmers markets is that they're mostly targeted towards people of the neighborhood, not people driving across the metro area to attend a Yelp Elite event. So parking shouldn't typically be too much of an issue. I like that the parking lot where the market is held is used for the purpose of providing neighbors more options for fresh, locally grown food and artisanal goods. Tonight, I hauled home some jams and cheese from Will's Eden Farm-To-Door Market, gluten-free lemon coconut and chocolate coconut cake loaves from Sincerely, by Paryani and sourdough chocolate chip cookies from Bake-n-Jam. I'm excited to try the cakes, jams, and cheeses but I have to confess that after breaking off a small part of cookie after dinner, I proceeded to finish it to my waistline's detriment and my belly's slight discomfort. It was worth it anyway. I'm glad to have gotten to know the above vendors and will keep my eyes peeled for them at future markets!

Yelp
This farmers market is pretty typical...you'll find all kinds of goodies, mostly all natural or home-grown, ranging from cleaners to produce to snacks/food. I'm not sure if the vendors that visited the day I went are always there or if there is a rotation. I decided on grabbing some Al natural lip scrub from Zaniyah Naturals and some gluten, dairy and sugar free banana bread from Sincerely. The downside here is parking is limited. The street in front of the market is riddled with no parking signs. I parked somewhere hoping I'd be in and out in enough time to not get a ticket or towed.

Yelp
I went to the Castleberry Holiday Market yesterday for a Yelp Elite event, and I was able to purchase some beautiful kale and locally made cheese. The market closed early due to inclement weather, but I'm glad I stopped by. Parking on the street was good and easy. It is a congested area but for the few moments I needed parking it was good.
