The 22 Best Bars In Paris

"Castor Club is unmarked, but you’ll recognize the cocktail bar tucked on a side street in Saint-Germain-des-Prés by the large wooden doors and bouncer standing out front. Once inside, you’ll feel like you’re in a country cabin or hunting lodge. The walls and ceilings are covered in wood, country music usually plays, and high velvet booths built into the walls add a cozy feel, whether you’re here for after-work drinks or date night. On weekends, the cavernous downstairs sometimes doubles as a dance floor with country dominating the playlist, so come to show off your best two-step, and drink creative cocktails, like the spicy Aye Aye Captain Cap with gin, chili, and blueberry." - tanisha townsend

Google
One of my favorite cocktail bars in Paris! With an interesting playlist and awesome cocktail recipes you feel you have left Paris and travelled elsewhere. The staff is very nice and welcoming, ready to help you if you have questions about the cocktails or having a hard time choosing. Totally recommend and I can’t wait to come back!

Really great bar with amazing service and good quality cocktail. Loved it! The only thing to keep in mind: the time I was there it was tropically hot 🥵 inside

Google
Wonderful hidden bar in Paris. Great cocktail selection, amazing service, and lovely atmosphere

Google
This place is a find! We were looking for a cocktail after dinner and I googled cocktail bars, and this one was close by. So glad we found it! It is tiny, but such a great vibe inside. The cocktails were amazing, and the bartenders were great - very friendly. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for something special.

Google
Cozy and intimate bar serving sinfully delicious cocktails. The space is very small (seats about 14-16 people max). Service is excellent.

Google
Such a cute hidden bar. Really dark and intimate. Recommend the kiwi cocktail for people who like sweet ones!!! Good music and good vibes! Look for the wooden slats with a tiny glass window. €15 a cocktail

Google
Fantastic and consistent cocktails, especially the spicy ones - I’d recommend the Aye Aye captain 💜. They play some fast paced old country tunes! And the bartenders are helpful and great at cooking up concoctions when you’re looking for something off the menu! At 14 euros a drink, it is a slightly expensive bar, but worth each penny. Sip on your drinks slowly and make them count.

Google
The Castor Club is a small, intimate space with great decor, music and drinks. We had a lovely time chatting with the friendly mixologist and listening to the great mix of old, folky Amarican music. The cocktails were delicious and unique and the place was very fun and lively. Absolutely worth checking out if you want a high-quality, intimate cocktail bar.

Yelp
Seemed like a great local spot that was buzzing with life on a Friday night. The bartenders made some great recommendations from the menu which were all solid. My boyfriend and I seemed like the only tourists in the place but felt very welcomed in the fun atmosphere. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
What a cool spot! You'd never even know it was there, very unique entry and vibe inside. We went in the evening and had great service and conversation from both bartenders. The drinks were banging! Highly recommend this place!

Yelp
This is not the first complaint about the rude and aggressive bouncer. We honestly didn't know he was guarding the door as he was wearing casual attire and leaning against the wall like a customer who had stepped outside for some air. When we tried to enter, he shut the door in our face, blocked us with us arm, and condescendingly said, "Bon soir?" as if we had intentionally offended him. When I tried to use my broken French to explain we didn't know what was going on, he continued to talk down to us. This bar is full of Americans and he refused to speak English when we said (in French) that we didn't understand him. The bartenders were nice, and the cocktails were great. The bar had a weird, American Wild Wild West theme where a stuffed beaver ("Castor" in French) was the mascot and terrible, hillbilly music played on blast. We could have tolerated it, but the first person we encountered ruined it for us. We won't be coming back.

Yelp
Cool snug bar with interesting craft cocktails and good bartender. Had no idea a castor was a beaver until I asked about the large stuffed one sitting above the bar.

Yelp
Let me preface this review with the following: I never had a bad experience in a bar in 40 years. I have been drinking in bars in Paris since 1977 A guy in a restaurant suggested I go have a drink at this place, "it's fun and two minutes from restaurant...first problem was no sign outside...walked in to tiny bar with primarily American college aged kids..Bartender hands me a "menu" with about 20 silly "little girl" drinks for $15 euros... asked for a Barcadi and coke..prentenious french bartender says "we don't serve coke or Barcardi" should have left then...but didn't..ordered a shot of rum on ice...after drinking the lousy rum, I get a bill for 15 euro...looked at the fool bartender and said "really"...his idiotic reply was "this is drinking in France" my reply " I have been drinking in Parisen bars before you were born"...paid the bill and left to write this while I was still sober...I am sure if you need to either "impress"or try to f..k a young dumb American girl, this is your place...otherwise stay away from the joint..or spend too much money for some dumb drinks, made by a fool bartender. Yelp
Ah, this is going to become my new neighborhood bad habit. It's perfectly situated between Odeon and St Michel - and don't balk at coming to the 6th, the tourists stay on the other side, in the Latin Quarter's gyro and fake fondue alleys! I knew I had to come here when I saw the sign that said "50s/60s/70s" music. I'm not sure if the drink menu downstairs is different from upstairs, but since it was early-ish in the week and we weren't planning on dancing, we stayed upstairs because our bartender was so generous and fun to talk to. He made each of us custom drinks after listening to what we liked, and they were truly creative (and potent). It's fascinating to watch him make any drink, really, because he puts so much care into it. He served a bunch that he said would be on future menus, so I know I'll have to come back. They also have a unique selection of rare scotches at fair prices. The atmosphere is more relaxed and fun here, with cocktails just as good (if not better) than the nearby Prescription Cocktail Club. Not to slander Prescription... it's another favorite of mine, but that's the sort of place I would recommend for a date, Castor Club for a good time with a group of friends.

Yelp
Absolute highlight finding this place. Wood door on quiet street that is flush to wall. Inside is red velvet and wood speakeasy with only a few seats and INCREDIBLE DRINKS. Friendly bartenders who helped us in English. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
The drinks here are amazing! The bartenders are super attentive and give great recommendations based on how you're feeling. It is an intimate setting and great for couples and small groups.whether this place is your first stop, or last stop, of the night, it is definitely a place to try some great drinks in Paris.

Yelp
Great cocktails with knowledgeable and friendly bartenders. Check out the giant beaver when ya walk in!

Yelp
The menu is relatively small (though I would not be surprised if they make a much larger set of drinks on request), but the quality of the drinks is incomparable. This bar almost has the allure of a speakeasy, though technically not one, and the mixologist mindset is similarly there. I walked right into a packed room, and was served within seconds of entering, but I could imagine it taking longer if they were in the midst of a lineup of orders. Easily on par with the best of speakeasies and mixology bars in the US, I expect to be back here every future trip to Paris.

Yelp
Some of the best and balanced cocktails I've ever had. Very original menu, not your basics. I drink quite a few cocktails and good ones were hard to come by in Paris. This is a small place and not for groups. Intimate with excellent bartenders. This is not a place for groups or for people looking for basic bar drinks. Don't ask for an Aperol Spritz here!

Yelp
Blues upstairs, house & DJ downstairs, cool all around. And some of the best drinks in the city to boot - this unmarked (look for the new wooden door), small lounge upstairs / club downstairs (in an 18th century cellar) is quite special and worth the visit. Truly.

Yelp
you can't even say that it was 'bad service,' it was much worse. I brought a friend to this bar at 2:00am on a Saturday night, and there was maybe 5 others there. I live in the area and have been a few times before. My friend ordered quickly but I was still deciding, and the bartender with glasses told me I'd have to order something. I said I would, that I was just still deciding, and he argued that it's the point of a bar to order something, and I wouldn't be able to stay unless I ordered something (again, it was nearly empty). We hadn't even been there three minutes. I laughed thinking he was joking, and repeated that I was still looking over the menu and he responds, "well I'm going to stand here and watch you until you decide." And he did, he stood there and stared at me. He purposely intimidated me for no reason. I am still in shock and very confused as to how he thought that was appropriate. No one should be treated like that, especially when i'm paying for a service. I've tried contacting the bar about this experience multiple times, but they didn't care to respond.

Yelp
Oh my goodness, what a great find for us during our trip to Paris! We first saw the outside and glancing at the menu, were certain it was a spot we wanted to check out that night. MAGNIFIQUE! Such a great vibe - with fantastically crafted cocktails. The upstairs is a bit livelier with Americana music piping (think Johnny Cash, New Orleans jazz, etc). In fact, the menu says they play 50s, 60s and 70s music. That had me sold. The downstairs is a bit more loungey - more sexy time if you will. We tried the Moscow Mule, the pomagranate drinks, a few Mezcals and rums and a few others -all perfectly crafted! I wish we had more of these types of bars in LA. Not an ounce of pretense. We loved that we met some great new friends from other parts of Europe. We had to go back again the next night. Loved every minute. Thanks Thomas!
