A Purrfect Ending in Paradise
As I’ve stated before, one of my ongoing quests is to seek out bars serving decent Mexican spirits — during my time in Southeast Asia. Last night in Singapore’s Chinatown, I struck gold at the unusually named Cat Bite Club.
I’ve found a few solid mezcal and tequila bars throughout SEA, but the Cat has them all beat. Their selection is so deep you’d be hard-pressed to find a lineup like this even in Mexico.
Another bonus was the top-notch service — bartenders, wait staff, and even the owner, Gabriel, all offering warm, genuine hospitality. A San Francisco transplant, Gabriel is an agave enthusiast who clearly loves what he does.
While the Cat is known for its specialty cocktails, they also have an extensive list of Mexican spirits guaranteed to satisfy any agave connoisseur.
So I’m officially presenting the first-ever Gringo in Paradise Spirit Award to the Cat Bite Club in Singapore for being the Number One purrveyor of Mexican spirits in Southeast Asia.
