It’s our first time in Mallorca, and we immediately visited the Cathedral of Santa Maria, which is very close to our accommodation. The place is beautiful and offers a truly special experience. There are always many tourists around, but that only shows how popular and worthwhile this location is. The cathedral itself is impressive, monumental, and wonderfully preserved. The view from it is even more stunning – you can see the entire marina with boats and large cruise ships, creating an incredible panorama and perfect photo opportunities. Overall, a definite recommendation for anyone visiting Mallorca. One of the places you simply shouldn’t miss!

Google
A must-visit in Palma — the £10 (approx. €10) entry fee is genuinely worth it. The Cathedral of Mallorca delivers everything you hope for: breathtaking architecture, rich history, and a serene atmosphere that makes it much more than just another tourist stop. From the moment you step in, the grandeur of the Gothic nave and the soaring stained glass windows grab your attention. Even on the standard ticket (which you noted is the cheapest option), you’re able to take in the key highlights — no hidden upsell required to appreciate the core experience. The cost-to-value ratio is excellent. The staff were courteous and helpful, and the location in Palma de Mallorca is hard to beat. If you’re in the area, set aside at least an hour. Bring your camera, perhaps a bit of quiet reflection time, and enjoy one of the most emblematic buildings in the Mediterranean. Highly recommended — excellent value, well preserved and beautifully presented.

Beside being a very important religious place, It is a great piece of architecture. It took 400 years to complete it. The famous architect Antoni Gaudi also contributes a lot. This beautiful Roman Catholic Church is located in the heart of Mallorca opposite seashore. it is the most visited place in Mallorca. The interior of Cathedral is amazing. The beautiful sculptures and stained colorful glass windows are worth seeing. The ambiance inside is very serene. The entry fee is 9 Euros. Not to be missed...

When I visited Mallorca, seeing the Catedral-Basílica de Santa María (La Seu) was non-negotiable, and I’m so glad I went. It is one of the most stunning Gothic buildings I have ever seen. What really blew me away was its dramatic location—it sits right on the edge of the old city walls overlooking the sea, and the sheer scale of the architecture is breathtaking from the moment you approach it. I spent a long time just admiring the exterior. Inside, it was all about the light. The most famous feature is the enormous rose window, often called "The Gothic Eye." If you can time your visit right, the way the light streams through the glass and illuminates the massive, airy interior is just magical. I was also really interested to see the modernist input by Antoni Gaudí near the altar—it adds a fascinating, unexpected touch to the medieval space. Honestly, if you are in Palma, you absolutely have to schedule time for this. It’s not just a beautiful church; it’s a powerful piece of art and history that truly defines the city skyline.

Google
We entered here with no expectations but the building definitely implies something spectacular inside. It does not disappoint. It is very busy inside but there is peace and tranquility to be found. You can have a quiet moment of reflection and find out so much fascinating history.

Google
Historical cathedral, research hours and buy your tickets in advance. Don't be surprised to see street vendors on the grounds. The number 25 bus drops you off very close and the city center is just behind it. Cobblestone so watch you footing. Fun place to walk around, even if you don't buy tickets to go inside. Enjoy!

Google
The Catedral-Basílica de Santa María de Mallorca is absolutely breathtaking an architectural masterpiece and a must-visit in Palma. The interior is stunning, filled with incredible light, color, and detail that truly leave you in awe. Tickets must be purchased online, which is very easy to do, and cost €10 per person. well worth it for the experience. Whether you’re interested in history, architecture, or just want to take in one of the most beautiful spots on the island, this cathedral is unforgettable.

Google
Absolutely a beautiful and stunning place to visit. It looks spectacular when you are outside looking at it and the artificial lake/park around it make it scenic. You have to buy the ticket online and they do limit the number of people entering so it does not seem overwhelming inside. There is another museum behind the cathedral that you can visit for a nominal fee and it is highly recommended as well. You will spend 2-3 hours here.

Yelp
If you enjoy checking out a cool architectural site, the gothic Catedral de Mallorca is a nice stop while in town. It's beautiful and I enjoyed seeing it all lit up at night. I spent some time sitting outside looking at all of the intricate cracks, crevices and cutouts in the stone. Truly beautiful building, very chill in the area. Full name: Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma AKA: La Seu Built In: started in 1229, finished in 1601. If you can go at night, highly recommended to see it with all the lights & shadows. Plus views of the cruise ships at sea.

Yelp
Palma Cathedral, also known as "La Seu" or the "Cathedral of the Sea", is a beautiful Catalan Gothic cathedral. It took several centuries (1229-1601) to build with multiple renovations and ongoing additions as well. It is one of the tallest Gothic buildings in Europe. It is quite impressive in the Palma skyline. The construction of the cathedral began under the reign of Jaime I of Aragon who had been caught in a terrible storm at sea. He promised to build a church if he reached land safely. He commissioned architect Guillem Sagera to design the Palma Cathedral to occupy the site where a Moorish Mosque previously stood. The cathedral is built from golden sandstone and has 61 stained glass windows which also gives it the name the "Cathedral of Light." The altar faces Mecca instead of Jerusalem due to the fact that it was built on the site of a mosque. Gaudi's controversial "Crown of Thorns" that is fashioned from cardboard and cork was added to the cathedral in the 20th century. Check the hours. It closes early on Saturdays at 2:15.

Yelp
On my first day in Mallorca, I walked around Palma and visited the cathedral, known as La Seu. It is a gothic style cathedral. Very beautiful architecture inside and outside. I paid 20 euros to visit the cathedral and to go on the terrace. Once inside, you can stay as long as you want, until it closes. The terrace gives a great view of the city of Palma. Definitely a must visit when in Palma.

Yelp
Palma's vast cathedral is the city's major architectural landmark. Aside from its sheer scale, treasures and undoubted beauty, its stunning interior features, designed by Gaudí & Barceló, make this unlike any other cathedral in the world. The awesome structure is predominantly Gothic, apart from the main facade, which is startling, quite beautiful & mongrel. The stunning rose window is the largest in Europe visible beat from the roof terraces. The Catedral occupies the site of what was the central mosque of Medina Mayurka, capital of Muslim Mallorca for three centuries. Although Jaume I and his marauding men forced their way into the city in 1229, work began in 1300. The mosque was used in the interim as a church.

Yelp
This is the famous Catedral. It's massive and you can't miss when you spend any time at all in Palma. The huge structure is over 350 feet long and the nave is 144 feet tall. For comparison, that's another 33 feet taller than the nave at Notre Dame in Paris! Construction began under King James I of Aragon in 1229 and took nearly 400 years to be completed, finished in 1601. The Cathedral is open for tourists with a small charge. Once inside, you have a pretty good run of the place and many of the ornamentation is very accessible. It is also handicap accessible. Note: This is a church. Be respectful! That means being quiet and wearing appropriate dress!

Yelp
One of the most impressive churches we visited in Spain. We first saw it from our cruise ship and it looked massive. You don't realize how massive it is until you get up next to it. Even if you haven't visited Mallorca you will no doubt know the magnificent Catalonian Gothic cathedral that is the landmark of the city. Overlooking the harbour, it lies in the oldest part of the city and is dedicated to San Sebastian, Palma's patron saint. Construction began in the early 1300's as thanks for his survival during a great storm when sailing to Mallorca with his army. On New Year's Day 1230 the foundation stone was laid on the site of where the main mosque originally stood, so it faces Mecca rather than Jerusalem. Along with the usual saintly relics (one is said to be a piece of the True Cross) it is also the home of the Royal Chapel which contains the tombs of Kings James II and James III of Mallorca.

Yelp
Built on the site of a Moorish-era mosque, King James I of Aragon commissioned Catedral de Palma in 1229, but it wasn't completed until 1601. The King--a 21 year-old crusader--promised to build a massive cathedral on Mallorca if god helped him defeat the Al-Andalus caliphate that ruled the island. Designed in the Catalan Gothic style but with Northern European influences, the cathedral is 121 meters long, 55 meters wide and its nave is 44 meters tall, making it the second largest Gothic cathedral in all of Europe.

Yelp
Palma de Mallorca might be my all time favorite places to visit in Spain. This Cathedral was beautiful and has a lot of tourist attractions nearby like the big palm trees and the red Palma sign. It's also a nice walk by the ocean and close by a beach (rocky, but very nice spot to check out when in Spain). Shopping there in 2009 was insane. I guess during that time, everyone was going out of business due to the big recession, but I was a happy camper that bought a million things on sales. European dresses were 5 euros, shoes were 15 euros, nice leather bags and boots were $35 euros...I couldn't say no! It was just calling my name.

Yelp
Also known as La Seu, this was an amazing Gothic style Cathedral with beautiful stained glass. The inside was even better than the outside. Some Gaudí styles were adopted here, but not all (and some of his ideas were a bit weird, so I'm not surprised). Two cool things I learned from our tour guide: the main rose window contains a "hidden" Star of David, and twice a year (sometime in Feb and Nov) at around 8am in the morning, light through the main (western) rose window projects an image of the rose window onto the back wall underneath the smaller eastern rose window, together creating a perfect figure 8 (or infinity), representing a perfect union. We didn't get to see this, but if scheduling permits, visiting on those days would be an amazing treat! Definitely worth the admission fee to see this place, though it would be best to come with a tour guide (or have an audio guide) to really understand and appreciate the history of the cathedral.

Yelp
Beautiful site in the center of Palma Mallorca. The mediterranean is only steps away and the night view is spectacular.

Yelp
This cathedral is absolutely beautiful, and the old town surrounding it is stunning. It's really nice to be able to view the outside in the shade, as the streets are narrow from the culture that the Arabs left behind in their legacy. We didn't get to go inside unfortunately, but the surrounding area was beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed the stroll that we took around it. Would recommend the visit to people interested in historical monuments and culture.

Yelp
Palma de Mallorca is absolutely one of my favorite places to visit in Spain. Beautiful architecture, right by the Mediterranean, and so many nice little bars and clubs to enjoy for nights on the town. The weather was gorgeous and I love the eclectic groups of people vacationing there. Visiting the inside of this amazing Gothic style cathedral is definitely worth the price and taking a double-decker tour of the area is also amazing. I enjoyed every minute of our stay here!

Yelp
If you think the exterior is impressive, prepared to be awed by the interior. It is Harry Potter massive. Worth the admission price.

Yelp
The tour of the cathedral was very interesting, especially with an audio guide which helps you get under the skin of its history, as a cathedral of the sea, the sun and of light. Amazing art work from artists such as Barcelo and Gaudi.
