London’s Best Caribbean Street Food | Jerk, Roti, Curry Goat, and More - Eater London

"While some Caribbean food based vendors are keen to illustrate the whole wealth of the culture’s cuisine, others are more focussed on perfecting certain streams. For Jerk Off, it’s obvious which is the priority. The increasingly popular jackfruit gets the slow-heated authentic wood jerk treatment alongside more traditional meats, while the house soup of pumpkin, butternut squash, coconut and scotch bonnet for extra heat warms the belly in hard winter. In true Caribbean style, it is served up with soft, dunkable Hard Do (hard dough) bread." - Riaz Phillips

Catford’s Best Restaurants: Where to Eat in Catford and Hither Green | Eater London

"Catford Food Market brings some welcome street food options to the area on the last Sunday of each month, and Raastawala stands out with its generously filled kati rolls. The snack originated in Kolkata, traditionally comprising a kebab wrapped in paratha; British-born Bengali Rinku Dutt does it differently. Paratha is replaced with a substantial springy naan coated with a layer of spiced egg, and topped with a choice of protein and perky salad. Meat eaters will appreciate the capsaicin wallop of tender, 24-hour chilli-marinated lamb; a slosh of the award-winning coriander sauce is non-negotiable. It’s one of the best ways to spend £7 on a lazy Sunday morning." - Helen Graves

Got to go to the market today, although we live very close, we missed it the past few months, since it moved next to the station. I don't understand some of the flak this is getting, it's a great addition to Catford and in a much better location now. It's a good support for smaller businesses and offers plenty of variety with 20+ stalls (unlike some claim), with food, sweets and coffee and some tables to sit on and enjoy. The place gets packed quite quickly and it's been busier each month since October so if you don't want to queue for long, have some vendors run out or find a place to sit. We tried a couple of places today, both beyond expectations - the Bao Buns and BBQ Harlem to Manila stall and Almada Bakery for dessert. Excellent quality food and a very convenient location. We'll definitely visit it every month.

I'm going to review the features and services within this market and then give my overall review. Starting with: Food - There majority of the stands within this market offer different varieties of food i.e Spanish food, Turkish,  African and British food. The food is pretty well priced, isn't expensive, and the portions are well worth what you're paying for. Its worth noting though that none of the food stands I visited offered halal food for those who might want to enquire. Size - There's about 10 stands in total and sometimes more, but no more than 12. This isn't the biggest  food market around London, but it's worth checking out if you're looking to try something new. Customer service - The people serving by their stands all seemed to be friendly and welcoming, with some even offering minor discounts for first time visitors like myself. Hygiene - The hygiene levels within the stands erected were all pretty good. Nothing negative to note, which is good. Summary - Overall, this food market is pretty good and worth checking out especially if you're a foodie and want to try something new. Although it's not as big as most markets, it does also have other stands such as a flower stand and one for bags too, so there's something for everyone.

Adenmore road. By catford train station. Nice vibe. Jazz music by saxophonist. Lovely food from all over the world.

According the their website, the market closes at 4pm. According to google maps, it closes at 4.30pm. We arrived at 3pm at everything was closed… there was literally one brownie left and 4 people queueing for it. Shame :/

Lovely monthly food market, with lots of great vegan options. Since moving to new location by the river, feels like it’s been busier and the vibe is nicer — shame that can’t happen in the center of Catford though! I now have a recurring calendar event so I can go as often as possible.

We have been going every month since it started. Great food and drink options for all dietry needs and a lovely team running it. The vendors are all so lovely and welcoming. Great visit for the family.

A much more appropriate area. None of the grime of Catford broadway.. which feels polluted and unhygienic (vomit and bottles all over the benches last time we visited) I do feel like the marketing needs to be better. I never know when it’s on until I walk past. The stalls seem to close very early also as another reviewer noted.

So Happy this is up and happening! Great selection of cheeses, some london brewed alcohol, gorgeous indoor plants and delicious hot food- RastaWala have the longest queue and rightly so! A really nice addition to Catford for locals and non-locals to come and enjoy! I hope it gets bigger and better!
