Cathay Pacific

Cathay Pacific is a complete rip-off. Avoid them at all costs. I accidentally booked the wrong fare, which I’ll take responsibility for — but the way Cathay presents their “special” or “promotional” prices is intentionally misleading. The fare looked comparable to other airlines, but what they don’t make clear is that it only includes one checked bag. So even though the price looks the same as competitors, you’re actually paying more for less. When I tried to upgrade to a fare that included two checked bags, they wanted an extra $200, plus a $100 fare difference — just to add one more piece of luggage. I asked about simply buying an extra bag instead, and they quoted me $250 one way. When I called back later, the same bag was suddenly $210. Dynamic baggage pricing? Are you kidding me? That’s not service — that’s a scam. Everything about this airline feels designed to squeeze as much money from passengers as possible. Deceptive pricing, outrageous fees, and inconsistent charges. I’ll never fly Cathay Pacific again. I have also filed a complaint with the Department of transportation! I hope they get investigated and fined!

Boarding area in lax needs improvement. Forgot sitting, there is no place to stand!! This is gate a10 in lax. I have been standing for 1 hour. Cathay Pacific: do better

Great flight in general but there's something going on with the agents at the check in counter. They wouldn't let us check in due to my middle name not being on the online booking. Even though I booked directly with Cathay Pacific, they kept saying I had to call whoever I made the booking with. They refused to just change the booking at the counter. Finally they gave us a Chinese customer support line and told me to call on my personal phone. I was on hold for a while and they looked hopeful that I'd miss my flight. The call never went through. But I googled for the main customer support number and called on my girlfriend's phone and an agent was able to update the booking remotely. The customer support repeatedly told me to tell the agents to keep the counter open while the name change was going through. The agents begrudgingly handed over our boarding passes and immediately left the counter, over an hour before takeoff. Anyways the plane and everything else was great, just really strangely aggressively unhelpful check in agents.

One of the worst customer services out there. A random Cathay Pacific employee is asking me to sit somewhere else just because I booked economy and I wasn't even inside the gate or boarding area. Hostesses are screaming at old people asking for their boarding pass

Lost baggage — not cool to deal with. Hung up after putting on hold for 45 minutes. Recommend any other but this one.

This was my fist time flying with Cathay Pacific. After I purchased a ticket, I tried to change my seat class online. However this function was not available. I attempted to call several times without success. Upon checking in to my flight online, I noticed that Cathay Pacific changed my set assignment from row 42 window to row 38 aisle. When I checked in my bags, my seat assignment changed again to row 67F which is neither aisle nor window. I called Cathay once again about 30 minutes into my 5 hour layover awaiting my first flight with Cathay Pacific. The first representative told me that they could not change my seat class because I had already flown the first flight of my trip with their partner airline. The seats were so close to each other that it was the most uncomfortable flight that I have ever taken. The plane was late leaving and also had a delay when landing. The landing delay was unforeseen because of weather. I missed the final flight because the plane landed about 15 minutes prior to the takeoff time. They managed to get me on the next flight which was delayed by an hour. Upon reaching my destination, I noticed that 2 of my bags had been searched and two items were severely damaged during the search. I will never fly with Cathay Pacific again.

BUYERS BEWARE - If you purchase their cheapest Economy Light tickets for international flights, you get only 1 checked bag. This 1 checked bag policy did not work for us, so we had to upgrade to Economy Essential costing us several hundreds more. Had we known about the 1 check bag policy, we would have purchased with another airline. Fly other airlines, they have better checked bag policy. I WILL NEVER EVER FLY CATHY PACIFIC AGAIN.

I'm in LA, they never answer their CS phone & when they do they transfer to another so long wait. Thus the 1 star. I flew them last 20 yrs and my points disappeared. I fly them bc it's cheaper price but had to pay $50 to select seats, and seats super small. Service is decent. They need to step it up though.
