A Bunny-Themed Pub Brings Carrot Fries and Cocktails to Clarendon - Eater DC

"Over in Loudon County, a cat cafe serving cookies and coffee opens Friday, April 1. Patrons at Leesburg’s new Catty Corner can go to the cafe downstairs, or head up to the cat lounge. Owner Heather Donahue has plans in the works to open the balcony and expand the menu." - Stephanie Carter

Visited Catty Corner today with my family, and it turned out to be such a lovely experience! I have zoophobia, so I was a bit nervous at first, but the host was extremely kind and understanding. They allowed me to watch from outside the cat zone, which made me feel safe and still part of the fun. The cats were super friendly and playful, and my family had a great time interacting with them. We booked the 30-minute time slot, which was just perfect. The environment was clean, cozy, and welcoming. Overall, it’s an economical and fun place for both cat lovers and those who might be a little hesitant like me. I really appreciated how respectful and accommodating the staff were. Would definitely recommend for a lighthearted family outing!

We absolutely love Catty Corner Cafe! The shop is located in Leesburg and has ample parking nearby. When we first arrived, we were immediately greeted and felt very welcomed. I love all the cute cat items at their shop and the local art is beautiful! As soon as we went upstairs, we fell in love with the environment! Plenty of cozy seating and 15 loving cats! The staff takes excellent care of the shop and cats! It's very clean and inviting. We will definitely be visiting again soon! Thank you Catty Corner Cafe!

I love this place - the cats are so sweet and well taken care of. The staff is very nice and they usually will tell you about each cat too. The shop has a lot of unique gifts for cat lovers as well. Also the home made cookies are really good - I like the oatmeal cookie. 🐾

Our granddaughter and five of her friends had so much fun at the Catty Corner Cafe for her eighth birthday party. My husband and I enjoyed watching the girls playing with the cats. The upstairs cat space has many comfortable couches and chairs, although the girls didn’t spend much time sitting! I enjoyed talking with the owner and her assistants. The party moved downstairs for pizza and birthday cupcakes, arranged by our daughter and her husband. The staff member there was very helpful in serving the refreshments. It was a great celebration; the girls would probably still be there if they had a choice!

This cat café was fantastic. We came from Frederick, MD and had a great time. The kitties were super friendly and the staff was amazing and fun. And the cookies were delicious! Just a great experience overall, highly recommended.

Surprisingly smells nice, no litter or foul smell at all. Cats are friendly, and the set up is very cute. They allow kids of any age, so that was nice to go with kids. You get complimentary drinks and cookies with purchase. You can eat and drink your snacks with the cats.

It was a good experience being here. I never thought there was a cat café in US. I’ve only been to one in Japan. The cats were very friendly and cute. It’s good that these cats are adoptable and rescues. I wish the area was bigger and more clean though. I’m saying this because I’ve been to one in Japan and I didn’t smell any cat litter odor there so I bet there’s a way that this place can get better. I would go back here.

An adopted dog can be the best friend you've ever had. An adopted cat can be the better friend you've never known possible. Compared to other cat lounge services around Northern VA area, Catty Corner Café offers a more intimate interaction environment for you to find a possible best friend you've never had. The owner is a terrific host. And if cats ever become venture capitalists, I'm sure Catty Corner would earn multiple rounds of funding. It is gratifying to see adult cats at Catty Corner with many rescued from kill shelters perhaps hours or days before the actual act. Some cat lounges typically host kittens which can be a dis-service to older adult cats. The much too common practice of adopting kittens for their cuteness only to be discarded as owners get tired or inconvenienced should be discouraged. Catty Corner hosting adult cats compared to other kitten-filled lounges should be applauded. Besides, adult cats have more personality than kittens. Having shared my life with cats, Catty Corner feels like a second home. If there is any criticism I could assign, it's that I wish Catty Corner hosted bigger cats since all cats except for one were surprisingly small. There is just a lot more cat to hug for bigger cats. Certainly understand that this could be because of the space available. If you've read this far in this review, then you'd know that your patronage to Catty Corner is highly encouraged if you're looking for a possible best friend for life.

Yelp
Leesburg's first cat cafe is an absolute delight! Highly recommend making a reservation online (cattycornercafe.com). One hour reservations are $24 per person which includes a warm cookie and self-served drink at the beverage station by the entryway. The cafe and check-in area is on the first floor; upstairs is where you will find the purr-ecious cat haven. Three green flags I look forward to on my visits: #1: While the well-maintained space is aesthetically pleasing, their primary focus is most importantly on the cats and their well-being. A majority of the cats were sweet, trusting, and comfortable in their cozy environment. #2: They also have a humorous bulletin board featuring the nice and naughty cats of the week as well as a binder full of helpful information on the current cats and adoption details, located on the coffee table upstairs. #3: The friendly team works hard and cares deeply about their four-legged residents. They are knowledgeable, happy to answer any questions about the cats. As an added bonus, a myriad of fun cat-themed trinkets by the cafe area make lasting gifts and fun souvenirs. Happy to support this small business!

Yelp
Went here on a random Sunday and it was lovely. They give you cookies when you book, and those were delicious. Also there was cute hello kitty merch you could purchase! The cat area was very clean and cute and had lots of toys so you could play with the cats. Plenty of beds for the cats, plenty of cat trees and climbing spots. The cats seemed happy. I bet it's even more popular and full of kittens in the spring and summer! Also, I loved the Pusheen clock so much that I may order one for my home lol

Yelp
@cattycornercafe Cats + tea & cookies? Say less. Not only is this establishment a Cat Café & lounge, but also a rescue with 98% of them being adoptable. They have had 117 adoptions and counting so far! Overall, a fun and relaxing thing to do whilst supporting a cat rescue. I'll definitely be back! Starts at $24/person includes a beverage & a freshly baked cookie for 30 min session in the cat lounge upstairs with extended times for additional fees available. For those like me, who are allergic to cats but absolutely love them, this is the perfect place to get my kitty fix. (Pro tip: Allergy pill night before, nasal spray before/after, non-drowsy pill morning of & change clothes after visiting) - insta @ SpicyAivy

Yelp
The cats were awesome and so cute! When we walked in we were told we couldn't pay for an hour because they were closing in 45 mins, which was fine! As we were leaving we were told we had to pay extra because we were there for over an hour, and that they work on an honor system so we were supposed to clock ourselves which we were not informed. We proceed to pay, then wait for our cookie and drink. Get back to the car and see the transaction of payment was 40 mins ago... not sure lying is worth the extra cash. ‍‍

Yelp
What an amazing cat cafe. I have been to many, and this is by far the bestn Tons of the cats were super friendly. They provide warm cookies with your entry fee and drinks as well. Such a great and fun activity for all ages and groups! The perfect addition to downtown Leesburg :)

Yelp
A cat lover's paradise. This place is relaxing and fun with an amazing energy. Beautifully decorated and designed for endless cat fun in creative and unexpected ways. So therapeutic to watch and interact with the cats. Knowing that all the cats have been rescued and are up for adoption is all the more heartwarming. A great way to support a small, woman-owned business, too.

Yelp
First time visiting a cat cafe and was definitely not disappointed. Super cute place and a fun outing whether you're hanging out with friends or family.

Yelp
Fun interactive experience--more for the cats than the coffee. The upstairs kitty nook is super cuddly.

Yelp
I gave 3 stars because it not a cafe place as expected. I actually expect to drink a cup of cake and have some snacks. But you actually could only have bottled water, and fast coffee. I don't even see the cookies then I just left. It is just a place to rescue cats. Simply think you are donating money to help cats survive. Cats are cute though. So just a suggestion that don't call it cafe, just call it kitty home or something.

Yelp
Such a fun visit to the Catty Corner Cafe. The staff were welcoming and very friendly and the cats were a ball! Delicious cookies as well. A great way to spend a few hours and help fund finding their kitties a new home.

Yelp
Seriously don't waste your money. $22 for an hour with the cats seemed reasonable at first because it came with a drink and a cookie. The cookies were very clearly old and just from a generic cookie dough. The drinks were Minute Maid lemonade and waiting room coffee, and you're only allowed one drink. When I got up to the room, it's an awkward silent room with cats who very clearly don't want to be there. Half the cats were sleeping so deeply they seemed to be sedated (not responsive AT ALL) and the other half were mean. I paid $22 to be attacked by a cat, drink waiting room refreshments, and sit in a very awkward room. Not sure where the money is going since they're feeding the cats a very cheap canned cat food with garbage ingredients. Definitely never gonna go back, and will tell everyone not to waste their time.

Yelp
Catty Corner is a great place to spend an hour. The cats are very cute and sweet, the space is very comfortable and good for all ages. There is a bit of a boutique on the first floor where you can purchase cat themed items. The coffee tea and lemonade are located in the boutique nook as well. The owner is on site and can tell you anything you want to know about the cats. She partners with Last Chance, who rescues the cats from kill shelters. Another great feature, memberships are available, which make the visits even more cost effective.

Yelp
I was a bit disappointed with this location. Made an appointment to come in, and paid for a full hour, only to leave after a half hour. The girl at the desk was incredibly kind - I think she was just super overwhelmed. We got our cookies, but never got our drinks. Went upstairs to see the cats and there was WAY too many people up there. There was at least 15 of us in this room and it is not that big to have that many people up there. Each person was stepping over each other/the cats looked super fed up. Some of the cats I think are overstimulated by how many people are up there at a time, that they were hissing at you if you pet them or hiding. It was super stuffy and smelt very bad. I understand that it is a cat cafe, but I do not wish to drink or eat my cookies in a room that smells like a liter box. Some cats look a bit overfed/to where some are obese. One cat looked like it was having issues with it's eyes/some eye goo. This place has potential of being really nice but it felt more like a pet store than an actual cat cafe.

Yelp
Came on a Friday afternoon and felt so relaxed after. You don't need a reservation. Just walk in. Parking is tough - park across the street near the courthouse parking.

Yelp
I never wanted to leave!!! This is no ordinary cat café, since you do have to pay for sessions with all the cats for different prices depending on how much time you choose. Still it's for a great cause and it's very peaceful and relaxing. Will definitely be coming back

Yelp
What a wonderful addition to Leesburg. Great place to hang out and perhaps find a friend--feline or otherwise. Cats AND snacks, oh my!

Susanna S.

Yelp
The exotic, yet family friendly atmosphere of Catty Corner Cafe promotes community, philanthropy, and more! The staff are friendly and helpful and the cats relish the attention! What a wonderful place in Leesburg for folks and kitties to find their forever families!
