I've tried this location 4 times. It has been busy all 4 times. Each time, the line moved so slowly, not because of the number of customers, but rather due to poor service. Here's what I mean: every time I have gone, the employee working the line asks me what I want, and as soon as I begin my order, the employee either walks away to help someone else or begins talking to some other employee. This is extremely frustrating. Either you are ready to help me or you're not, but if you aren't, please don't ask me to begin the order if you are going to ignore me. And considering that at least 3 people work down the line, this process of being interrupted travels down the line with my bowl. Additionally, instead of having someone in charge of restocking/refilling/restocking the line OR instead of the person working the line realizing that they are running low on X ingredient and asking for more BEFORE it runs too low or runs out, they wait until it is all gone before asking for more. This stalls the line and adds to slow service. It's as if no one is being proactive. Of the 4x I have been there, I have seen the manager standing by idly speaking to employees. This is not a good look for the restaurant and might explain the lackadaisical attitude of some of the other employees. Keeping in mind that the restaurant has been busy each time I've gone, he could be more involved in either ensuring items on the line are replenished or simply being more hands-on. Perhaps he could have tidied up the drink station, as it has been a mess all 4x I've been there. Maybe he can be welcoming guests or thanking them for coming. And maybe he shouldn't be eating where all the customers can see him. I've worked in restaurants and that is a big no-no. Today, there were no napkins. When I asked the cashier for some, she looked confused. Another cashier busted out a pack of Publix napkins and gave me some, but didn't go to the napkin dispensers to fill them, so basically we all have to ask for napkins with our food. The group in front of me asked for 4 water cups, only to be told there were none. Yet later when I was eating, I saw some people who had ordered after us with water cups. The cashier was clueless. Cashiers also don't know how to ring up items correctly. Today, she tried to charge me extra for avocado even though I ordered a harissa AVOCADO bowl. Last time, the cashier tried to charge me for the pita that comes with a bowl. It is imperative that the employees receive adequate training. The only ones who seemed to be working well were the cooks. I have yet to see a dining room attendant. There are only 4 tables inside, so there's not much to clean, but trash bins are always overflowing (both inside and specially outside), utensils are not refilled.
Speaking of the harissa avocado bowl, I have had that item 4x and each time it was made differently even though the employees have a "cheat sheet" telling them of the ingredients. The food is great. I'd just like some consistency in how my bowl is made. 3 of the 4 times I've gone, they have been out of corn and super greens. Twice there was no brown rice and when I asked how long it would take to make some, I was told there was none.
I will continue to frequent this location even though it is far from me because the food is good. However, there is still much to improve in the area of customer service and training. Kudos to those who have been doing their job well. This location has been open over a month. By now, the kinks should be worked out.
