Caves Cálem

A very enjoyable experience in Porto. We booked the visit through GetYourGuide, but you can also reserve directly at the location. The winery is in a great spot—right across from the Douro River and in a lovely, walkable area. The tour started on time with a small group, which made the experience more personal and comfortable. Our guide was very attentive, explaining the history of Cálem, the production process, and the different types of Port wine with clarity and friendliness. We visited the interactive museum, which is modern and well-designed, and finished with a tasting of three different wines, all excellent. The place is clean, pleasant, and well-organized. Definitely worth it if you’re in Porto and want to learn more about the region’s famous wine.

Had the tawny tournin English. Was lucky to be the only participant and the guide was a wealth of knowledge and willing to dive into my many questions. Very interesting and informative! The tour was concluded with a tasting of 10/20/30 yr port wines. Served with dried fruits and water for cleansing the mouth between tastes. It was very interesting to see, smell and taste the three vintages - ranging from sweet to nutty and almost cognac-like. My recommendation!

Enjoyed a lovely tour here with 3 friends while visiting Porto a few summers ago. I have just been going back through my photos and reviewing all my favourite spots - this was definitely one of them. You're brought through the entire process of grapes to glass within the Douro Valley and get to enjoy a generous number of tastings along the way! All of the wines were delicious and the final tasting included some chocolates and cheeses to pair. The tour is super fun and interactive. Great for Groups, couples, or even a solo adventurer. Definitely grab a ticket in advance if you can! Thanks for hosting us.

Good winery experience. The guide was very informative and helpful. The wine tasting had one white port & red port, each with good notes and flavor, and came with crackers. The front row seat was amazing :) I had a nice view of the fado performance, and enjoyed it very much.

An amazing & well designed mix of technology combined with traditional wine processes all setup within cool caves. An interesting & engaging environment, combined with a professional, easy to understand & great visual presentation of all you want & need to know. A unique experience, to see the cellars of Calem. We did a 30 Euro visit that included the taste of 3 Porto wine types of Tawny (10, 20 and 30 years). If you want to catch a glimpse into Porto’s economic history, it’s great. We were a group of 15 people and had a lot of fun at the tasting at the end of the tour. It’s not for getting drunk, but for experiencing the first time Portwine, great. It’s about 1 hour guided tour.

A memorable experience which gave me an insight into Porto’s history and culture 🍷 A passionate and funny tour from Gui. It’s clear how much he loves port and could train as a comedian! Made everyone feel welcome and enjoy themselves. Great way to spend an evening

My husband and I arranged a tour of Caves Cálem with a Fado performance and tasting through GetYourGuide, and it was well worth the money. The tour itself was interesting and didn't take too long before we were enjoying our two tasting glasses with crackers. The Fado performance, especially by the instrumentalists and the female vocalist, was a real standout for us. Simply marvellous.
