Google
Caxton Grill cooked me into emotional confusion — and honestly, I loved it. As the person behind YourFoodFantasy, I’ve eaten a lot of stunning meals… but Caxton Grill really said, “Hold my cocktail.” I came in expecting a nice dinner; I left wondering if I should rewrite my entire understanding of flavour. The butternut steak? Outrageous. I took one bite and immediately started reevaluating my life choices. The lamb chops were so tender I nearly apologised to them for not meeting them sooner. And the soup? Let’s just say if British weather tasted this comforting, I’d never complain again. Then the desserts arrived. The guava mousse is the kind of dessert that grabs you by the feelings and refuses to let go. The cheesecake? A masterpiece. If I could legally marry a dessert, we’d be planning our honeymoon. And the cocktails… look, I don’t know what wizardry the bartender practices, but after one sip I was ready to make questionable life decisions in the best possible way. The service? Spot on. Warm, attentive, and refreshingly unpretentious. The staff glide around like they’ve been trained by the hospitality equivalent of the Royal Ballet. St. Ermin’s Hotel sets the scene perfectly — elegant, romantic, with just a hint of “007 might walk in any minute.” If you’ve ever trusted a review on YourFoodFantasy, trust this one: Go. Book it. Eat everything. Thank me later.

Google
We were staying in the hotel so we thought we’d give their steak restaurant and a try. Many of the dishes we had were very good. A couple were a bit salty. The short ribs were tremendous. I definitely recommend those. The linguine with mushrooms was very good and had excellent flavor. The olives were a fun touch as an appetizer. The top steak received rave reviews, especially the dipping sauce that went with it. The hummus appetizer was delicious, but the Christine’s were stale. They quickly removed this off our ticket as they agreed that they Were stale. Shagor and Melissa were our servers and they were very attentive but not too attentive. They were very appropriate. We had lots of questions about the area and things to see in London and they were very helpful. Great personalities and very sweet. They took care of everything that we needed and were excellent in everything that they did our group.

Google
The entrance is from inside the hotel, though they have a sign on the outside door and you'll keep knocking. They serve locally sources produce, including fresh fish. All the dishes we ordered were well cooked. Presentation of the food was particularly beautiful. Service is ok, you might have to get the wait staff's attention.

Google
Delightful place that breaks the stereotypes on hotel restaurants. Great food, cozy ambiance, and incredible staff. Had breakfast there multiple times. Day 2, Ramos automatically brings me a cappuccino because he remembered from the day before... Quiara is another pleasant person who took care of me during my visits.

Google
Celebrated the anniversary with my girlfriend here ant the service and food was absolutely amazing. Mark, the Restaurant Manager, is very lovely and made sure we had a great stay. 10/10 would be back (personal favorite: Tomahawk steal)

Google
Saturday evening. They had a special mushroom menu but when 3 of our party of 6 ordered the mushroom starter, it turned out they only had one serving left! We were an early evening table too. Also makes you realise this is not freshly cooked. For a "grill" the steaks were very average quality and although we all ordered medium rare there was quite a variance, with some more medium. Drinks were very slow "because the bar was busy". For the price, the food and service was below average, atmosphere was okay.

Google
Had dinner with 2 friends and it was a very pleasurable experience. The Caxton Grill is part of the St Ermin's Hotel and you will not be disappointed if you visit. We had the Gazpacho Soup, Venison Tartare, Gin Cured Salmon, Catch of the Day, Sirloin Steak, Cauliflower Steak, Brocoli, Chips, and French Beans, followed by the Vanilla White Chocolate Mousse (with as glass of Tokaji). All the courses were delicious. We were all very satisfied......the only thing I would have liked would have been an extra slice or two of the salmon with the starter, but it was very tasty and the trout and horseradish mouse was excellent. My steak was perfect. Big thick cut, juicy, well cooked.....one of the best steaks I have eaten (and i have had many recently!) The service was excellent. Friendly and attentive. The restaurant works well for families, couples, or business dinners.

Google
We had an incredible meal at the Caxton Grill at the St. Ermin’s Hotel. From the miso carrot soup to the Wagyu burger, everything was delicious. Thank you to all the wonderful staff especially Waseem Rashid, Director of Food & Beverage, and Head Chef Annada Sankar Das for providing an amazing allergy-friendly experience for our daughter (allergic to eggs, peanuts, and sesame). The care and consideration they showed was above and beyond. We highly recommend this restaurant for both those with and without food allergies.

Yelp
The Caxton Grill, located at St. Ermin's Hotel serves up a phenomenal breakfast! My wife still raves about it and swears it's the best breakfast she's ever had in her life! You can bet on a full English, fruits, meats, cheeses, breads... a full spread! Vegan options are available.

Yelp
We are staying at the St Ermins and needed to grab a bite to eat before our late dinner reservation. Not many restaurant options open in Xmas Day. The bar menu is limited but adequate. We got the crispy cauliflower, crispy Korean chicken both of which were fried and smothered in a sweet spicy sauce. Not a healthy choice but tasted ok. I enjoyed the the Big Green salad. Servers were friendly and got our order right

Yelp
This is a super cute restaurant that was even more charming at Christmas time. Dinner on first night was a bit disappointing as they'd run out of our first two choices on the menu, but the food was ultimately good. Service was fine. Breakfast was better srrvice and a nice selection of food. Scrambled eggs were disgusting and soupy, but they did prepare some for us that were actually cooked. The bar was just awful, and I was so disappointed, as it was a super cool looking spot, and I was looking forward to hanging. All of it was attributed to the terrible service and it's honestly a black eye to the rest of the place.

Yelp
Sunday night dinner at 7:45pm. Relaxed, friendly service. Toasted mackerel, burger, BBQ short ribs and French bean all perfectly done and quite tasty. To an American palette, the beans slightly undersalted, but easily remedied. Delicious and flavorful otherwise. I enjoyed the glug-glug of the fish-shaped water pitchers, an odd and fun touch. An elegant and enjoyable dining experience.

Yelp
We have stayed at St Ermin's Hotel 3 times in the last year and a half, thus, we have had breakfast here everyday we were here. The food is great and the coffee is good; you will not be disappointed! The primary reason we love Caxton Grill is the employees! Nahid, the manager, was attentive and caring! All the employees showed professionalism, promptness, and were friendly! Ramos, one of our servers, always has a smile and makes us feel welcomed! The Hostesses do an outstanding job with handling the seating as hotel guests line up for breakfast. The buffet food is hot and tasty! Great way to start the day!!
google avatar

Yelp
Solid breakfast buffet and the manager who works the morning is the best, always walking around to check in on tables and ensuring guests are being serviced. Caxton is the best part of the St Ermins hotel.

Yelp
First night staying at the St Ermin's Hotel and we got in a little late and didn't want to bother finding a place to eat. This was surprisingly good! The restaurant, like the rest of the hotel, is very nicely done and comfortable. We were seated next to a window at a cozy booth which was perfect after a long couple of days of touring for me and business meetings for my husband. I was so hungry I forgot to take pictures so you'll just have to take my word that the food is presented nicely, and everything was very fresh. We had the burrata app, I had the wagyu burger, husband had the special grilled cod, and we got a side of mac & cheese. Everything was delicious, the mac & cheese surprisingly so; the garlic oil and whatever cheese they used made a for a much more interesting and tasty version. I docked one star for price - it was pretty expensive but alas it's a hotel restaurant so you always know it will be on the higher end. Definitely worth it though, it's not like your typical Marriott fare.

Yelp
Enjoyed our time at the hotel and also enjoyed our meals @ the bar in the Caxton Grill. While at the bar we enjoyed ice cream, lemon curd, chamomile tea, margarita flatbread, cauliflower w/ Korean BBQ, chips, and lots of laugh. We opted for the bar over the main restaurant due to more options for our group. All the food was tasty and the wait staff were wonderful. The seating is interesting as most of the seats were table height, however, that was not an issue at the bar or the bar tables in the direct bar area.

Yelp
I came here for breakfast twice during my stay and for a breakfast spot it was very very good. Large selection of meat, sides, fruit, pastries, juice and even gluten free options. As a Marriott elite member, this was all free to me but I think for £15 the value is certainly there. They will also make you coffee in any style you like. Staff are extremely attentive and there is plenty of seating.

Yelp
Excellent food and great drink menu, especially the various gin & tonics. Love the fact that they have their own honey bee farm grown on their terrace and ingredients are locally sourced (even in their own garden). Had dinner here. Several dishes were very very good including a grilled salmon, a wagyu burger, portobello mushroom, and several sides. Later the same week we had afternoon tea. Quite nice, lots of teas to sample and sandwiches and desserts. Significantly better than the "average restaurant in the hotel." Usually those restaurants aren't necessarily destinations but more a solid option if you're staying upstairs. Would definitely come back. Experience was significantly enhanced though that we didn't have to venture very far ;) just a short elevator ride!

vanessa ..

Yelp
Restaurant is located in the hotel we stayed. Good breakfast but dinner was very delicious.

Yelp
Don't get fooled by the beautiful pictures of plated food. This is a really overpriced, overrated (based on reviews) place. The food is just ok. Fish was over salted. Tuna was over cooked. Decor is oldish. Service is a bit slow. With so many incredible choices in London, this was unfortunately a waste of a dinner opportunity for us.

Luv J.

Yelp
The house-instilled gin cocktails were fabulous and the service was wonderful. Attentive staff and never-ending bar snacks make this a nice place for a drink if you're in the neighborhood. Pro tip: Skip the food - it's not great and rather mediocre. Ask for Alejandro at the Bar - flawless service.

Yelp
I came here daily for breakfast and for drinks in the evening. For breakfast, they put out quite a spread. They have eggs, sausage/bacon, bread, pastries, fruit, yogurt and more. It's pretty much the typically Marriott spread, but the food is better quality than I've been used to in the past. They were also very accommodating and allowed me to quickly make a to go bag on a day when I had a very early morning start. I very much appreciated that. They do have an interesting system of seating one table at a time and waiting in between the next seating. Maybe it was just the time I visited. However, each time, it took about five minutes to sit a table at a time. For evening drinks, they have a small bar and an extensive cocktail menu. Prices here are a bit high, but expected based off of the price of the hotel. Service at the bar is ok, not outstanding.

Michelle D.

Yelp
Extremely rude staff. I will not return. My daughter took a couple seconds to order and the waiter walked away and didn't return. Avoid at all costs.

Yelp
Food here is really good. This review is for two experiences one breakfast an one dinner. For breakfast, came in on the morning after an overnight flight while I was waiting to check in. Waitress came over with coffee for me. I went with the vegetarian English which was nice. Had crushed avocado which was very fresh; backed beans tomato hash browns and plenty of brown toast. All items tasty. Even the mushroom. Dinner had nice breadbasket with seeded whole grains thick cut slices alongside some nice butter. Not sure what was in the butter but it was not. plain. Thick cut chips were nice and hot along with the cod which was really thick and flaky. Started with a garden salad which was fresh and delicious with lemon honey dressing. Had the perfect amount of salt on the leaves. I would definitely recommend this place. Pretty crowded on a Tuesday night yet they accommodated a party of one without a reservation.

Tara H.

Yelp
The service was excellent, and the food was good. Their no leftover food to go policy for nonhotel guests was very disappointing. They missed out on a dessert, coffee, and after-dinner drink order.
google avatar

Yelp
Really good. Approachable food and beverages (not an extensive wine pour list - but really decent, and a full bar) . . . and, not just because of the hotel proximity. The Caxton Grill is good. It's the sort of place that everyone wishes they had in their neighborhood - fresh ingredients , interesting dish combinations, convenient location, and decent / well focused pricing. Add to the great formula - the servers are excellent! Really upper class. We had two of our final dinners on our most recent trip to London at the restaurant, and they were both excellent meals. The meats are all very well prepared and the vegetables are interesting and super flavorful. The best dish for me? The parsnip soup. Delicious!! If you're in the neighborhood (Westminster) or staying at the hotel - make this a go-to spot. It's well worth a visit, and very approachable on a number of levels.

Yelp
We stayed at the St. Ermins hotel and decided to get breakfast here one day early in our trip. I am only giving it 3 stars due to the service. My wife wanted the breakfast buffet and I wanted the full English breakfast from the kitchen. The waiter took our order and my wife returned with her breakfast plate from the buffet. There was no silverware on the table and we waited a bit for the waiter to pass through to notify him but was taking too long so my wife went to search out someone for silverware. When she got the silverware the spoon appeared to be dirty, and her eggs were now cold. Later, our waiter returned and asked if I was going to eat anything. I explained that I already ordered from the kitchen with him...and the breakfast I ordered was already on the bill that was brought out earlier on. Needless to say my order was never put in. By the time my breakfast arrived my wife was finished. No complaints about the food though, once I got the breakfast it was very good.

Yelp
We stayed at St Ermin's Hotel where Caxton Grill is located so we has the breakfast buffet every morning for 5 days. They have a large selection. Eggs, sausage, bacon, fresh cheeses, fruits, cereal, pastries, yogurt, tea and juice and coffee. We ate here for dinner one night and it was disappointing. I had lamb. It was slightly pinkish in color. Just a little undercooked. My daughter had a piece of plastic inside her hamburger. Expected more from an upscale hotel restaurant. Service was good though.

Yelp
If you are staying at the St. Ermine's Hotel in London and you don't feel like going far don't be afraid to check out this restaurant on premises for dinner as it is surprisingly good. We found nice atmosphere and good service accompanied by a good glass of wine to be very relaxing. They change their menu seasonally, and when we were there there was a focus on honey as an ingredient. They have there own bee hives on premises so this is understandably a good ingredient for them to focus on. I had the half free range chicken prepared in a honey glaze. It was very moist and tasty. My husband had the whole Cornish lemon Sole, which was delicious. His only complaint was that they did not remove the bones for him. I would definitely dine there again if staying at the hotel or in the area-

Yelp
This is the restaurant in my hotel, and as such I accept a compromise when returning late and not wanting to go out again. More compromise than I expected, though. Cheery staff, comfortable table, but a hodge-podge of food - monkfish tail (I know what it is) had a remarkable amount of bone, sort of like "corn on the cob". I ordered a radicchio salad, served to me twice - the second time by a suited host who brought it with the odd monkfist tail. I asked him about the second salad, and received a puzzling response, that it was okay. I appreciate not being badgered after being served, which in this case meant that the next contact was 15 or so minutes later, a busser clearing my plate. Had I been asked, I would have said the monkfisth was unsatisfactory, but I didn't want to cause a stir by asking for attention. From time-to-time when at a hotel for a few nights, I dine at its restaurant...this is a reminder of why I usually dine elsewhere.
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
This was NOT what the ratings say. I suggest you go to the M Steakhouse instead. I ordered the 14ounce porterhouse and it couldn't weigh 8 ounces if it tried. The meat came out a pasty white with grill marks. Absolutely no flavor to the meat. Like they haven't even heard of salt and pepper. The side dish of grilled peppers and olives was bland to say the least. The whole meal was just bland. No complaints with service or atmosphere. This is not fine dining and the $$ doesn't match the quality.
google avatar

Tanya H.

Yelp
Came here for an impromptu lunch date with the fiance. Loved the dining room. It's like a little haven away from the hustle and bustle of Victoria - comfortable and comforting. There were quite a few business lunches going on around (to be expected based on the location). I had a tuna nicoise salad. This was almost 5 star but the tuna didn't taste like it was cooked fresh if I'm honest (seemed like canned tuna). The dressing was good though as was the salad, egg was perfectly cooked for me (gooey yolk). The sourdough bread was superb - served warm with the option of 'chicken butter' (I couldn't partake as I don't eat chicken). Service was good, quick and attentive if not 100% polished. Food was served quickly which was good for a lunchbreak. They have a very good value sounding dinner offer (3 courses and a wine for around £30) so we'll definitely be back to try that.

Yelp
We stayed at this hotel - and amazingly enough we didn't even realize we had the best restaurant in town! Especially our waiter "Norbert" enhanced our experience. The Jerusalem Artichoke soup was amazing presentation and very tasty ! The steaks were cooked to perfection.
google avatar

Brandon G.

Yelp
This has been one of our favorite dinners in London. Hard to believe, when it's in a hotel. But legit service and decor started us off right. Appetizers of cured sea bass and garden salad were spot on. Yes, the garden salad was delish! Steak for two, topped with onions and side of fat cut fries was incredible. Dessert is not to be missed because of the creativity and flavors. UPDATE: night two, food still delish but service lackluster. Minus one star
google avatar

Jennifer M.

Yelp
We are here for dinner and had the special truffle tasting menu, accompanied by several wine selections which were chosen to highlight the 5 courses of the meal. The food was very fancy, what used to be described as Avant-garde. It was definitely an experience, not just dinner. The Caxton grill is also open for breakfast for guests of the St. Ermin's hotel. It consists of some hot things like eggs, sausage and bacon and also delicious pastries, fruit, meats, cheeses, juices and more. The servers are very attentive. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 for me was that despite the high price of the tasting menu and the undeniably elegant presentation I didn't really enjoy the taste of several of the dishes.
google avatar

Anabell M.

Yelp
The service was amazing, every waiter/ waitress was so kind and engaging. I had the porridge with honey and bananas and it was delicious. My family had the buffet and it was also delicious- with lots of varieties of breakfast food to choose from. The only issue we had was a plum that went bad, it looked totally fine on the outside so it would've been hard to catch that. They gave us free cappuccinos to go as an apology because we already had a complimentary breakfast. Great service and ambiance though for a sit down meal!!
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful, classy yet relaxing restaurant with world class food, and service. Close to an Underground station (St James Park), so very easy to get to. 2 of us had the '6 course tasting menu', and the 3rd an appetizer and a main. Our 6 course taster menu was a wonderful experience, and very memorable. Each plate was a work of art, but also seasoned perfectly, with moist, delicious food. Multiple components on each plate, combined textures and flavors in interesting and 'just yummy' flavors! At the end of the meal I was satisfied, but not overly stuffed, so the portion sizes were well considered. Well done! The appetizer/main course only combination of my parter was beautiful and also delicious. I took pictures of everything. Being served with plates of fantastic looking food covered with conical glass covers holding in smoke was a piece of performance art, and yes, I could taste the smokiness in that dish! Wonderful! I'll be sure to go again with more friends!

Yelp
Yes, yes and yes. This is a place which I would be happy to take anyone out for - although they'd better be worth it as you can make it quite pricey with your choices. Bright and open, the restaurant sits in the bottom of the St Ermine's Hotel building, and you can wander through to the bar and lobby. The food was both 'interestingly' prepared (several different types of beetroot in one dish - very tasty though), and satisfying. Some dishes were even quite brash - such as tempura crab or chicken butter with brioche. A round of starters could have seen me through the rest of the day (this was a lunchtime), but I'm glad we waited around for our mains. Slightly stuffy, yet inattentive service carried us to our mains. By golly was I happy with my choice of ashed beef with barley and chips. The truffle oil chips with parmesan weren't the best ever, but played a supportive supporting role to the fantastic beef. Pink on the inside, dark on the outside but oh so tender and flavoursome. Heartily recommended. Yes, expensive. Yes, 'celebrity' chef. Yes, not the finest service. But oh boy, a place to go at least once.
google avatar

Bob B.

Yelp
The food was excellent and the service good on the first night. Second night we were ignored by the barmaid and had to chase her down to get our drinks delivered. One of the only negative moments in a wonderful stay at St Ermin's. The chips and burger are very good and can recommend.

Yelp
Went here for my birthday in May. The fact that it was my birthday was on the booking, so I was presented with a slice of cake on a decorated plate - so thoughtful and lovely of the staff to do that. There was a slight error with the bill, but the manager swiftly rectified it and was lovely to us throughout our whole dining experience. I shared the mixed grill with my mum, and every piece of meat was cooked to perfection - it was delicious!

Yelp
The food was delicious and refreshing; the service was excellent; and the place is beautifully decorated and spacious. We went here for a late lunch. For appetizers, we ordered Burrata cheese and 18 month cured ham. Both had beautiful presentation and interesting flavor. The combination of cured ham and Cantalope melon really impressed me. For main course, we had Ultimate Grills for two (one meat, one fish). The fish pieces were fresh and cooked to perfection. The meat pieces were tasty too. Some were a bit over-cooked. Overall, this place is worth the money. The chef team have innovative minds and I will come back again for more.

Yelp
This restaurant has the best steak and lobster in town, also the shrimp is delicious, the food is amazing here, diffidently worth to come and the price is reasonable.

Great food and service! Kids menu included great options! Nice ambience and relax atmosphere. I had a great birthday dinner!

Yelp
A hidden gem of a place just around the corner from St. James's Park station! Adam Handling knows his stuff and is definitely deserved of a well-earned Michelin star that will be awarded this year (2016)! The atmosphere is contemporary, clean, down-to-earth and the prices relatively reasonable for the caliber of creativity put into his menu. Definitely go for the tasting menu, as there are several mind-blowing items to experience. These dishes are seriously a work of art! My favorites are the "liquid gold", chicken/fig/lime starter, and salad of salt-baked celeriac--amazing and imaginative. The dessert puddings are beautiful and very tasty, my favorite being the yuzu. The cod fish and chips is an excellent choice, the batter is absolutely perfect. The wagyu burger with pulled pork and crispy onions is excellent, one of the best burgers I've ever had. Definitely will be back when in London!
google avatar

Yelp
Everything we ate from here was delicious. We were staying at St. Ermins so the location was convenient but the decor here is upscale casual so it's nice after a long day of walking around, but still feels like a nice restaurant. The food was wonderful and I don't think we ate a single thing that we weren't blown away by. Also, the bar here made the BEST gin and tonics I have ever had anywhere so Kudos!!!

Yelp
Came in on a relatively quiet Friday after a long flight from the US; I was starving and felt like an experience so I went ahead and tried out the 11 course tasting menu. Absolutely everything was outstanding. The staff did a great job, the food was amazing, and the restaurant did a really interesting concept (which I haven't seen before) where a different staff member brought out each course. This culminated in the head chef himself, Adam Handling, coming out to my table to chat while he handmade the tiramisu course with liquid nitrogen and what looked like a full chemistry set . Really a one-of-a-kind experience, and a great way to kick off a weekend after a long week at work. Will definitely return!

Debbie L.

Yelp
Service during breakfast and dinner was rather slow so they lose a star for that. But the dinner I had there was fantastic. The monkfish was really tasty and just the right amount of food to leave room for dessert. Had the chocolate thing... it was amazing, and very rich. I couldn't even finish it. It was like eating a hockey puck-sized truffle. Excellent food... if only the service could be leisurely, rather than painfully slow.

Yelp
The Caxton Bar is the St Ermine's hotel bar. The St Ermine's offers a free cocktail with a Yelp "check in". Redemption of this turned into a very bad experience. So incensed was the bartender with the hotel, I felt uncomfortable to return to the bar. One the second night we avoided the bar and sat in another room with service from the floor staff. When we reordered a round at the end of the night, the server "mistakenly" thought we all had ordered another round. When she came with an extra cocktail she took quite umbrage to have to return one. The worse part of the night, was she presented us a check with the unordered cocktail to which we nearly paid. When we reminded her we didn't reorder that one, she presented another check with one less drink. Closer inspection showed that both checks were printed at the same time. Confused? She had hope to rip us off but was prepared we might catch it. AVOID THIS PLACE. THEY ARE SLICK AND LOOKING FOR PEOPLE TO RIP OFF. Having now posted over 600 yelp reviews this is my only second BEWARE.

Yelp
Came here for a late business lunch with a work colleague and really enjoyed the experience. The decor is stylish and sleek, and the staff helped us through the menu. I really like the set up for the Grill menu. Choose your meat and then choose your side dishes. I had the smaller portion of sirloin and some very nice purple broccoli on the side. The broccoli was served with nice crunchy hazelnuts, very nice touch. One of the other diners had the fish in a saffron sauce. This plate was absolutely stunning to both look at and to smell. Yum! Decent price with a small, not daunting menu. Great for a business meal.

We were very impressed with the food, atmosphere and service. The price is also very reasonable for a restaurant of this caliber!! Will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
I recently booked a table for dinner at Adam Handling at Caxton, well known as the runner-up in Masterchef: The Professionals 2013, who has also gained many awards since. We both went for the tasting menu, which consisted of six courses priced at £70 per person. To start off, we were served a loaf of warm sourdough bread. I usually try not to overdo it with the bread course at the beginning, but that chicken butter and duck liver parfait was just too good to let it go to waste. The doughnuts with dressed crab were tasty little mouthfuls albeit with a slightly denser texture then I was expecting. I would have gladly had a whole plate to myself. The beetroot snack were little delicate wafer rolls with a sweet and slightly sharp beetroot filling. It was really light and crisp, and dusted in a beetroot powder. The chicken skin was very moreish, and a favourite for both of us. The first course was the salmon, with pea, sweet and sour wasabi, apple and dill. A bit of molecular liquid nitrogen show as our server brought over a pot with frozen violas and poured the contents over our dishes. I do love tartare dishes, and did enjoy the lamb tartare, served with beets, fermented red pepper, chilli and sorrel. I just wished that there was more. The chicken and lobster was served with a fragrant yellow curry and palm sugar sauce. The lobster was fresh with a nice, springy texture, and the chicken really tender. The ashed beef rump is apparently his signature dish, served with burnt artichokes and cabbage. A tender piece of beef with a lovely pink centre, and you could really taste the strong smokey flavours in it. For dessert, we were first served the apple with cucumber and gin, which was very cooling and refreshing. A nice way to cleanse the palate after the rich courses that were had before. The second dessert was more sweet and indulgent - a yuzu-based dessert with milk, crumble and meringue. Check out my blog for the full post with photos x dancing-in-high-heels.blogspot.com

Yelp
Such a nice place for both food and drinks. The staff is fantastic and so welcoming and graciously accommodating. The food is good - nothing overwhelmingly fabulous. But certainly not bad. It really is the staff that makes this place so very nice.

Yelp
More or less empty at seven pm on a weekday night. Got a table quickly. Olive bread was delicious - green herb butter was odd with the choices of bread. The wagyu burger was just ok - fries were not at all crispy. Spouse had a rib eye. Said it tasted like the smoke from the grill and not the meat. Wondered if it was covering a less than choice cut of meat. The mash was a point of contention - enjoyed by one and hated by the other. Must have been a texture issue. Overall, an expensive way to have an ok meal when your feet are tired from a long day touring London.

Yelp
Wonderful food and service. I recommend ordering off the tapas/seasonal menu, as the food is really inventive and delicious. I ordered off both the tapas and classic menus, and liked the tapas more. The complimentary "chicken butter" that comes with your meal is INCREDIBLE! I could have eaten a whole bowl. The cracker with mackeral and the chicken liver mousse are also very good. The veal schnitzel is only OK (mine was tough and the breading quickly fell off) and the mash was a bit salty. The service here is top notch. Wonderful atmosphere, too.

Yelp
I actually really like what they've done with the space, it's beautifully designed with quirky little touches like the lightbulbs being enclosed in glass boxes. I was talking to someone who works in the area and she said there were very few nice places for taking clients so this should be a welcome addition. The only downside was they seemed to only have one ladies toilet, an oversight surely?Standing in the corridor is not a good look. We were there on their opening night and got to try lots of little canapes. The fish ones in particular stood out, I loved the combination of mackeral with beetroot and horseradish cream. The steak topped with a fried potato wasn't quite as successful as my piece of steak was chewy but the fried potato was divine, best chip I've had in ages. They also had interesting breads, good chewy baguette and sesame crispbreads that were more interesting than your normal run of the mill offerings. I think they might bake them inhouse. Apparently they also have a terrace which will be lovely if summer decides to return!

Yelp
After seeing chef Adam on MasterChef Professionals I had to try this place and surely it did meet my expectations. I went with a friend and shared an entree, scallops with chicken and peanuts. I thought it was a terribly risky combination (scallops with chicken!!??) but it worked. The scallops were beautifully cooked and the chicken melted in the mouth. The peanuts added some indonesian flavour to the dish. I had Cod as a main and it was amazing. The fish was cooked to perfection and it had a dash of mash that was heavenly. My friend had ashed beef and the flavour-texture combo was a very nice surprise. As a desert, the ginger panacotta standed out, with textures carefully combined. All in all, the chef is a texture genius and he tries some interesting flavour combinations. Service was excellent, friendly and caring but not annoying and the room itself is nice and quiet. They also have private rooms for groups. At £55 each before wine it does not come cheap but the experience is definitely worth a try.

Yelp
Great service and food. The dining experience set the tone for the start of a excellent trip.
