Yelp
Our Thanksgiving meal at CAYA?
In a word:
Disappointing, and a generous two stars.
Not sure where to start, but first off, the advertised online price for both the turkey and ham dinners was $35, which is part of the reason why we even chose that location for Thanksgiving dinner, but the ACTUAL price on the their in-house menu (and what we were charged) was $45.
There were other price discrepancies on the online menu compared to their in-house menu, and all in the house's favor.
Somebody goofed. Big time.
We had calamari and Wagyu meatballs for our shared appetizers. The calamari was lukewarm at best, and had a strange pineapple chutney on top that over-sweetened it.
The Wagyu meatballs were just OK.
Two in our party ordered the turkey dinner, and they both said it was tough, dry, and overcooked. They said the stuffing was also dry.
A $45.....or even a $35 Thanksgiving turkey dinner shouldn't be dry and overcooked, especially from a Hilton owned restaurant.
I ordered the filet mignon, which was priced at $46 for a 6 ounce piece of meat.
I ordered it medium rare, but it arrived practically blue in the center, and still mooing, kicking, and screaming!
A little bit rare is OK, but this was barely seared on either side.
It's pretty obvious somebody back in the kitchen doesn't know how to touch Judge a steak.
I sent it back, and at least it was hot this time, but was still more rare than I would've liked, but at that point everybody else had their food, and I didn't want to send it back again.
One question I have is:
Where is the management in that place? There didn't appear to be any, only the servers and the Bartender. If there was any managerial presence there, one would never know it. Strange that on a showcase day like Thanksgiving there would be no management running the show.
With tax and tip and it ended up being $300 for the four of us.
I don't mind paying that if we got our money's worth and it's good quality, but there's a lot of work to be done before that place reaches that level.
