Cayao - Review - Los Cerritos - Cabo - The Infatuation

"Cayao stands out from the rest of Baja’s oversaturated landscape of Japanese restaurants thanks to visually spectacular Nikkei flavors. Their ceviches alone are a thing of beauty. The Cayao ceviche, with scallops, octopus, shrimp, and homemade sriracha, is served below a coconut foam resembling a cumulus cloud. The scallop ceviche, ornately plated inside a clam shell, is prepared with crunchy jicama, basil, and dressed in tiger’s milk. As an homage to Peru’s chaufa cuisine, there’s even a standout short rib rice with chunks of soft beef flavored with pickled shimeji, truffle yakiniku, and sesame. Entrees garnished with edible purple flowers and bright magenta watermelon pisco sours complement the restaurant’s use of colorful textiles, which is expected from a place housed inside the Four Seasons." - Nili Blanck

Cayao delivers an incredible, Peruvian-Japanese inspired dining experience that’s as beautiful as it is delicious. Every dish we tried was memorable, starting with the spicy, garlicky edamame topped with lime and a punchy seasoning blend, the perfect snack to kick things off. The gyoza in a rich, savory broth were bursting with flavor and cooked to perfection. The lightly seared tuna nigiri was another standout, melt-in-your-mouth tender and incredibly fresh. The short rib fried rice was pure comfort food, packed with rich, smoky flavor and perfectly cooked rice. The spicy sushi roll topped with fresh herbs and chili slices brought a great balance of heat and brightness. The atmosphere at Cayao is lively but relaxed, very kid-friendly (we felt totally welcome with a little one in tow), and the service was spot-on, attentive without being overbearing. Highly recommend for a fun, flavorful night out at the resort. You also can’t go wrong with the incredible view.

The restaurant is located in four seasons resort, the reservation is required to enter the front entrance. (Not sure if they’ll let you in without one) 1. The restaurant provides both indoor and outdoor seating. 2. Service was top notch 3. All the food we had were amazing 4. 100% recommended

Magical dinner for me and my GF. Some of the best tuna I’ve had in all of cabo. Plus the CFC aka Cayao fries chicken was marvelous. 11/10 will recommend to everyone

12/10. This is a jewel. Nikkei cuisine (Japanese / Peruvian). Overlooks the ocean. Ceviche Cayao is a must try with the coco nut foam and cotton candy.

Our evening at Cayao was truly magical! The ocean views are breathtaking and the design is luxurious and beautiful. Every dish we ordered was delicious and full of flavor — my favorites were the Cayao ceviche, the udon noodles and the “cheese lollipops” from the kids menu … we came with a 5, 3, and 2yo (birthday boy!) and they were so accommodating. High chairs, kids utensils & cups, coloring supplies. And then for my son’s birthday they brought out ice cream, sparklers AND champagne for the adults (AND a thoughtfully crafted champagne mocktail for me the pregnant mama). No detail was spared. Our server, Ime, was as sweet as can be. After dinner, we went upstairs to sit by the garden fire pits. It was the perfect night!

One of the best dinners of all time. Everything we ordered was a “wow”. Short rib fried rice, wagyu sashimi, angry tuna amongst our favorite! Unlike anything we have ever had before
