The 11 Best Bakeries In Mexico City

"Cayetana is an in-and-out type of place (there’s only four tables total) but it’s worth a quick pit stop if you’re on your way to Parque México. But make sure to plan ahead—it’s closed Mondays and Tuesdays, and their best seller, a wonderfully fluffy bacon and maple roll, is only available on the weekends. If you miss that window, the gluten-free glazed pumpkin muffin is a fantastic plan B. The coffee’s great too, especially their Mexican hot chocolate with a shot of espresso." - guillaume guevara

WOW the Bacon Roll with Maple. Addictive. The Coffee was top notch as well, one of the best in México City so far (I ordered an Americano), Latte was also good and the Chocolatin! a Must to come

Absolutely delicious menu. Everything is super fresh and tasty. Amazing service. Bacon Cinnamon Roll - 5/5 Cinnamon Sugar Pastry - 5/5 Flat White - 5/5 The service is incredible. Great recommendations. The entire menu looks amazing. The bacon cinnamon roll was outstanding. Super fresh. Not to overwhelmingly sugary. The other pastry was excellent as well.

Update 2025 #3 (CDMX #3, Cafe/bakery #2): came here for an event sponsored by Oatly. Got some free oat milk coffee drinks along with a chocolatin and foccacia (weekends only!). Remains one of the best panaderias in the city. Other bakeries we love in cdmx: Odette (almond croissant, chocolatin, rol de nuez), Emmer (flor de limon, almond croissant), and Saint (almond croissant, croissant jamon y queso, doña limon). Previous review: #2 Kura, Japanse Next review: #4 Sede, Cafe -- Update December 2024: back to being one of the best panaderias in cdmx :) -- CDMX Eats 2024 #29, Cafe/bakery #14: this is the best bakery in Mexico City. I went back and forth between Cayetana and Odette, but Cayetana takes the edge both for quality and variety. I have been here five times this year (2024) and twice in the past week. We have ordered: rollo tocino (maple & bacon roll; weekends only) three times, rol de guayaba (much better than Panaderia Rosetta's), a mushroom/egg/spinach pastry, pan de elote 3x, panque de nuez, chocolatin, and almond croissant. Every single item we have ordered has been very, very good. I think the standouts are their rollo tocino, rol de guayba, pan de elote, and their almond croissant. The rollo tocino does a great job of balancing sweet and savory and it's pastry (like the rol de guayaba) is just as good as it's toppings. Their pan de elote is my favorite I've had in CDMX as is their almond croissant (sorry Odette & Emmer). Their almond croissant looks--and tastes--different than the other bakeries in the city, and it's just delicious without being too rich/sweet. I'm confused at the reviews about poor service as all five times I have visited the staff has been super friendly and helpful. Yes, they are busy and rushing around, but they are always really nice and personable. Hernan and the other folks that work there are awesome and even provided other recc's for cafes and bakeries in the city. In addition to their pastries/baked goods, I think their coffee is very tasty and reasonably priced. While there aren't a ton of tables, I also very much enjoy the vibe (and location) here, too. Other bakeries I like: Odette (almond croissant, chocolatin, crujiente de guayaba), Emmer (flor de limon, almond croissant), Saint (almond croissant, croissant jamon y queso, doña limon), Rosetta (they're kinda falling off IMO; envuelto de poro, bollo de romero, rol(s) de guayaba y limon amarillo). Bakeries on my list to try: Gala, Mamá Carmela, Bakers & Marne.

I was excited to try this place based on reviews but the pastry didn't taste fresh at all. My latte was fine. I'm not sure if I came on an off day or if things have gone down hill but my experience is nothing like most of these reviews. When I went there was no food listed just a half empty case of pastries - and what I selected definitely did not taste fresh.

The best pastries we had in Mexico City! Love the ham & cheese croissant; the the cinnamon roll is in perfect texture and sweetness. Everything is good, including the Americano! Will go back again!

I was staying at an Airbnb in the same building and went down early with my family to grab an espresso. Even though it was before their official opening hours, the guy at the coffee shop was kind enough to help us out. Great attitude and service! I would highly recommend their coffee and pastries 😃

An incredible little bakery on a side street. Seating is limited (1 table inside and 3 outside) but this stop should not be missed. All of the breads and pastries were excellent. We strongly recommend.

Got the guava roll and cinnamon roll, both were fantastic when microwaved for 10 seconds. I also enjoyed the shaken espresso. Not a lot of seating inside or outside
