How Caffeine Became the World’s Favorite Drug | Eater

"Originating from the broader use of caffeinated drinks—initially adopted by Sufi and Buddhist practitioners to stay awake for long periods of prayer and meditation—these public venues became social hubs where people bought beverages and lingered for hours to talk business, science, and literature. In 17th‑century Europe they helped produce a clearer, more focused public consciousness by reducing habitual alcohol consumption, created unusually mixed‑class public spaces (women were typically excluded), and subdivided into specialized spheres for scientists, writers, and merchants. Their rapid proliferation (at one point roughly one such venue per 250 Londoners) made them incubators for new institutions and practices and helped extend work into night hours, contributing to the social conditions behind the scientific and industrial transformations of the era." - Amy McCarthy

I stopped by and got a white chocolate latte and it was delicious and exactly what I needed after getting lab work done. Drive through was quick and sweet server was very friendly and courteous. The price was very reasonable as always.

Google
Coffee was good. Service was friendly. Talking inside was somewhat challenging due to the ambient noise. There were a couple of flies that were frustrating, but sooo hard to stop from coming in a business! The store is clean and well kept. The employees seem to genuinely care.

Google
Nice coffee! We got one dark roast and one cappuccino. Great flavor. Pretty good selection of scones, muffins, croissants and cookies. Warmed the croissant for us Service was excellent. No wait on Sunday morning. Inside is clean and well maintained. Plenty of seating of various types. Outside seating area. Plenty of parking. Also have a drive thru.

Google
Really like their coffee. Sad that they have lots of k-cup flavors but don't serve all of them.

9-22-19 Sunday 1pm. A little taste of home. Who would’ve ever thought in the middle of Monroe would be a cc coffee. When I found it on my phone instantly I had to go. The ladies that were working we’re very nice and sociable. The coffee house was clean throughout. I got myself a familiar frozen coffee with whip cream. Thankfully the consistency in the product between New Orleans locations and Monroe were the same. Good job cc coffee and I would return to this location. I’m working in South West Monroe so it was about 30 minutes to get to this location. The drive was well worth it. My only recommendation would be open up one closer to the interstate.

Yelp
Felt like it was time to review again since it's been a couple of years since the last review! Still one of my favorite places to stop when visiting Monroe. We are here during Thanksgiving break and we stopped in on Thanksgiving Day to indulge our sweet tooth since they were open for a few hours that morning. They do have a Facebook page you can visit to stay up to date with hours and specials. The seasonal menu changes but the classic café au lait are always available. This Baton Rouge girl is thankful for the sweet spot in Monroe! Oh and if your driving through on 165 or I-20 this season take a detour off the beaten path for some great coffee!

Yelp
Honestly, for a coffee house that is not Starbucks they are surprisingly reliable. Let me explain my description. "Surprising reliable" because I've been the patron of many a counterculture coffee shops across the nation. CC's is the only one that has consistently served good products. For instance, I've gotten a flavored latte every time and each time the latte is smooth and the flavor just right. Additionally, I've neither utilized their WiFi nor stayed for an extended period of time to study, but this seems to be a good place to do so by the amount of people that have a laptop and books strewn about their table. If you're looking for something other than Starbucks, try CC's for a surprising and welcomed change.

Yelp
This location is pretty quick and their coffee is delicious and fresh! Some of their prices may be a little bit high like Starbucks but the service is good.

Yelp
We've made a habit of going here on our way back to Oklahoma and the coffee is consistently good. It tastes the same each time and doesn't vary hugely depending on who makes it. (Ahem- Starbucks ) We asked today if they have a rewards program and they do. So locals, take advantage. I think I'm going to go sip my massive latte and wish OKC had a CC's.

Yelp
I drove 20 minutes out of the way for this coffee because of reviews. That was a mistake. If you're a fan of strong coffee, this may be the place for you. But he ready to pay a hefty fee for that strong coffee. I'm thinking maybe I was charged wrong. I got two iced coffees and an iced tea for $19.

Yelp
I love CC's. I'd give anything if someone would open them up in the Houston metro areas. Montgomery? The Woodlands? Puh-lease? Weird though, your credit card slip will say CiCi's. I was like, who ate cheap pizza?!

Yelp
It's a coffee shop. Plain and simple. With so many popping up, it is hard to discern which is best and which is just mediocre. But my scale is off the drip coffee (taste, cost) and I decided on the Chicory dark roast. It could be stronger, especially as a dark. It was $2.21 for further reference. As for the scenery, it's a college/high school hangout. Mostly it's students studying and couples on a Tinder date. Would come back, it is quiet and the coffee smell is not overwhelming.

Yelp
Good news- CC's Coffee House has finally come to Monroe! If you've been here long enough, then you know that everyone down in south Louisiana raves about CC's. Locals here are dancing in circles knowing that their go-to coffee brew of choice is here to stay. Hours of operation are Mon-Fri 6am-9pm, Sat 6:30am-9:30pm, and Sun 6:30am-7:30pm. Location, location, location! It's no surprise that CC's made a wise decision in setting up shop along Tower Drive, a busy and rapidly developing area. With the nearby St. Francis Community Health Center, I would expect CC's to get a consistent influx of patrons daily. On my first visit, I found plenty of parking, with a handful of cars at the drive-thru. (I can't tell you how many times I absolutely hated waiting in the horrendously slow drive-thru at a certain rival coffee joint on Forsythe). Walking into/out of the storefront, each patron is happily greeted by a CC's staff member. Being a Louisiana-based coffee chain means you can count on Southern hospitality! The interior is spacious, provides ample booth and table seating, a few comfy chairs in a cozy corner, and even a couple of outdoor tables adorned with umbrellas for shade. The atmosphere is very welcoming and inviting, and the big windows all around the seating areas allow natural light in, making it brightly lit and cheerful. The framed coffee-themed artwork/pictures just added to the character of this place. The drink menu offers something for everyone whether you are needing specialty hot/cold/iced coffees, frozen smoothies, specialty iced/hot teas, or pastries/cookies/brownies/cake balls/breakfast sandwiches/snacks. Take a look at their display and have your pick! If you're dining in, you can request that your food be heated up. If you're in a hurry, they have bottled water, sodas, and juices in the refrigerated section. Soy and almond milk are available as alternatives to the usual milk options for your coffee. I had the Turtle Mochasippi with almond milk which had me bouncing off the walls from the sugar and caffeine high for the rest of the day. I guess it didn't help that I also voraciously devoured the gargantuan chocolate chunk cookie. You have regular chocolate chip cookies and then your life changes when you try this monstrosity of a cookie creation- CHOCOLATE CHUNK COOKIE = winning!!! (Remember to put in extra gym time to work off those 610 calories). CC's provides a great place to get some work/studying done, meet up with friends/colleagues/clients, or simply to relax and enjoy your caffeinated beverage of choice. The enthusiastic staff were friendly and helpful during my visit. I am hopeful that CC's will do very well here and perhaps add another location in West Monroe. What are you waiting for- go get your caffeine fix at CC's now!

Yelp
I've stopped in this location several times lately and have been struck by two things. First, the customer service experience has improved. Typically, I am greeted quickly by a friendly, knowledgeable person who gets my order right. Second, the smell! I drink a LOT of coffee. I travel. Therefore, I get coffee in a lot of different shops. Almost all of them service food. In almost every shop, the food is made somewhere else and shipped in for reheating or serving "as is". I don't know how much of the food is prepared in house. However, it seems like there is always a smell of fresh baked goods AND coffee. For a simpleton like me, the two combine for a great atmosphere. I found out today that the owners of the business are not only local, they're right across the street an spend a lot of time in the store. Local ownership, great employees, great food. Hmmm.... Enjoy

Yelp
For a coffee place, very simple. Menu is not overwhelming. The gals were great. I made the mistake of assuming the "Mochasippi" was just a flavor. In the mood for hot, but that is a frappe. When I realized my mistake just before they blended it, they happily remade it as a hot drink with the syrups. It took my drink a long time. Got it way after my two friends and I ordered first. Something about getting the "decaf to pull". I chalk it up to being new. Their efforts to make it how I wanted win me over though. We met for a ladies group and didn't feel to rushed or crowded.

Yelp
We were struggling to find a coffee place that was open early in the morning that wasn't just gas station coffee. CC's was our best bet. The coffeehouse was cute and warm. Service was great. I wasn't a huge fan of the coffee (but only because I'm a coffee snob) but it sure did in a pinch. I loved my blueberry scone and my husband really enjoyed his feta and spinach croissant. We would go back if we were driving through this area again.

Yelp
I am patron of cc coffie shop and enjoy the atmosphere, however does wearing mask on face apply to employees? It seems not, what a good example--- all but one wore a mask. Is that a good image of cc to exploit are is an example of defience?

Yelp
This is a new coffee spot for the Monroe area, and its employees are handling the growing pains reasonably well. The loyalty card program is still a bit problematic; regular CC's customers should prepare themselves for a few blank looks from baristas when asking for anything that isn't on the drink menu on the wall. The layout is charming and large enough for small groups to meet, and the weekday morning staff tends to be morning people who have good senses of humor. This is not a coffee lover's haven-- no pour-overs or special roasts so far-- but it is a good place for wifi and a caffeine boost. Of the coffee offerings, the Coffee & Chicory roast is my favorite. One big negative: people of color who enter tend to get a cool reception from some staff members, the same staff members who nearly convulse with friendliness when local Anglo-American businessmen enter. This is something that I have observed over several visits. Since my past CC's experience has been drastically different, I call it a local problem.

Yelp
I can't explain how excited I was when I found out there was a CCs coming to Monroe!! I lived in Baton Rouge for ten years and spent many days studying at CCs and it's always been my favorite coffee shop. Coffee is always fresh and the guilt free Mochassippi is my favorite. So happy to have CCs around the corner now, beats Starbucks hands down any day!

Yelp
CC's cold brewed coffee tastes better plain and black than Starbucks does with all the cream and sugar. It's cocoaey and soft. And the seating is just more inviting, and the bathrooms are easier to get to (no more running the gauntlet through a crowd of barstools), and they're open later. I'm so happy we have a CC's now!

Yelp
I ordered a hot chocolate and an egg sandwich. The hot chocolate was great however my sandwich was supposed to come with cheese and didn't. When I called I spoke with Karlie and she immediately took the sandwich off my order and assured me she'd let the staff know the sandwich comes with cheese. I really appreciate the fact that she didn't hesitate to return me the money for the sandwich. She was apologetic and kind ! Great customer service Karlie! Thanks

Yelp
CC's is a breeze, especially with the drive-through. The blueberry muffins are addictive. I mean that. If you haven't tried the blueberry muffins yet, don't. I am not just saying that. They're really really good! Dangerously so. Also the manager, Robin, is very kind, and willing to do whatever it takes to get your drink just right, and to make your coffee-buying experience bar none.

Yelp
On way to duck commander stopped by for a cup of coffee. Being from Arizona we do not have CC's. I had no idea what to order so Anna S helped me on what to order. See i dont like taste of coffe just the carmel and whip cream. She made me the perfect mochasippi carmel. Then i had a piece of king cake. Never tasted this before, Anna asked me if i liked cinnamon and cream cheese which I responded YES. It was soooo good. Anna thank you for beings so kind and friendly. Making my short visit here awsome. Hope you all stop by and see Anna. She is great.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick coffee before shopping with the girls. Store is staged awkwardly and doesn't flow good energy. Lady working the window (and seemed to be leading the shift) was incredibly rude, didn't coach well, demeaning whenever she spoke to others (guests and coworkers alike). Coffee was okay. The barista guy did a wonderful job of accommodating my sugar free and carb free requests. The condiment stand was dirty and floor unkempt and it wasn't a rush time.

Yelp
Place was clean as a whistle. The bathrooms were spotless. The coffee great ! The manager on duty named Anna couldn't have been nicer

Jerry K.

Yelp
Love this place and the coffee flavors are so amazing. I was a die hard Starbucks fan until a friend recommended CC's to me and I was most pleasantly surprised and now I'm hooked on CC's Coffee House and also visit the one in Shreveport when I'm there. Definitely worth going out of you way to enjoy!!!!!

Nenee T.

Yelp
Finally!!' After living in Baton Rouge for three years I missed CC's. Monroe location did not disappoint mochasippi is as good as i remembered only wished they still had this little pecan tart but overall good spot

Monroe R.

Yelp
Well kept and clean, only complaints are with service. Some employees don't appear properly trained or just don't care. Willing to give this another try in the future, as for now I'll stick with Starbucks.
