I came down from my room at The Ned hoping for a simple, light lunch and maybe a cocktail, nothing complicated, nothing demanding. I sat at the bar, was handed a menu, and then was essentially treated as a nonstarter.
After more than 10 minutes of being ignored by the bartender (despite being seated, ready to order, and clearly present), I finally gave up and left.
I’ve been a loyal Cecconi’s customer on both coasts for years, which is exactly why this was so disappointing. This wasn’t a one-off “busy moment,” it was a basic failure of service. When you’re charging Cecconi’s prices and trading on Cecconi’s reputation, the bare minimum expectation is acknowledgment and hospitality.
Needless to say, this experience completely undermined the brand for me. If this is the standard being upheld at this location, I won’t be returning to this or any Cecconi’s-affiliated establishment.
UPDATE: Gave it a second chance and it was much better the bartenders Erwin and Joshua were exceptionally attentive and provided excellent service. The salmon tartare was a great lunch.
