Seattle Cafes That Are Perfect for Remote Work

"This coffee shop on the border where the Pike Place Market area meets Belltown feels like a secret. The views of Puget Sound are pristine, the coffee is excellent, and there’s even some food, though the menu is pretty much limited to avocado toast and some Sea Wolf pastries. The main thing here is that there are outlets and tables and quiet in a part of town that’s often swamped with tourists. You can come here, but don’t tell anyone else." - Harry Cheadle

The vibes are immaculate - this cafe is modern, aesthetic, and has a stunning views of the water. It’s great for studying or a chat with friends. I love the coffee and staff as well!

Google
I chose here because I wanted to go to a place with a clean atmosphere. The overall interior was exactly as I had seen in my search, with a white modern theme. The atmosphere seemed even better with a view of the sea through the large windows. ☕️ Coffee: The taste is generally smooth. It has a slightly weak flavor, but the beans themselves lean towards a nutty taste without being overly bitter. However, if you prefer a stronger coffee with a more nutty or fruity aroma, it might be a bit bland for your taste.

Google
Cedar and Spokes has a great location right next to Pike’s Place and offers amazing views, amazing brews, and plenty of natural light. They roast in house so you can see them doing it while enjoying your coffee. The espresso is pretty good, and even though it might not have as much depth as other places it still has an obvious high quality. The service here is also 10/10.

Google
Small coffee cart, so it can take a little extra time to get your drink but well worth it. Service was great. The best part is the ample, comfy seating in the space, which you can enjoy to drink your coffee. Great for casual morning meetings. Saw some long meeting tables but not sure if they're all available for public use.

Google
Nice little spot to get your caffeine fix in. Very bright (weather pending of course) and spacious. Bryce was very helpful and welcoming. Espresso was delicious and served in a nice little cup with a saucer (for dine in) which made it feel that much more special. Just the right amount of bitterness with that mix of nutty and toasty. Will t try a Latte next time for sure. Definitely limited seating, but everything was comfortable and well arranged. Big open space which they rent out for event. They also have some wines which I didn’t try, but they can have a full bar apparently for parties. Person in front of me got a bagel which looked good but definitely not an NYC sized bagel. They offer cream cheese, butter or peanut butter with the bagel which is a nice option to get some protein in. Overall very nice spot and would visit again for sure.

Google
Came here to kill some time before my cruise, and it was such a chill and open cafe, with a great view of my ship :) I got the cappuccino, it was wonderful, and the bagel with cream cheese. The barista was really sweet and she provided great service. This cafe is located at the tip of Pike Place Market, so a quick walk away.

Google
High quality and full body coffee. The macchiato was delicious. Quiet, great for working. Pretty hipstersy atmosphere and hence a little on the pricier end.

Google
Cute coffee shop with great atmosphere, music, service and coffee!! Sat and watched the view of our Norwegian Bliss ship after we disembarked.

Yelp
I came here to sip some lattes, eat my lunch, and read for a bit, and this was a great spot for it! Tried the matcha with lavender syrup and the chai as well. Both were very good and the barista was very helpful and kind when I asked questions about their recommendations. I liked the natural lighting and it seems like a popular work space. I'd definitely come back to this cafe again!

Yelp
Wandered into this place looking for a place to chill and enjoy some ice cold coffee. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the coffee roasting on site. They have tons of tables and plugs as well as seating, which is perfect if you need to use your laptop or charge your phone. Wi-Fi network goes quick. The guy at the front is really friendly. He made me a coffee soda since they were out of tonic water and I loved it. Great taste. They have a clean bathroom and also have food and cocktails for those looking for something a little different. If you're near Pike Place I recommend going here and getting away from the crowds. Relax in a great local coffee shop.

Yelp
We had planned on breakfast at the original Starbucks (you know, like tourists), but the line was insane so we came here on a friend's recommendation. The location is great, a short walk from Pike's market and right on the water. One side of the shop is all windows, and you can see the water and the ships. It has a calm, quiet, minimalistic atmosphere, and you can tell they take coffee seriously. My husband and I both got lavender lattes (I got iced and he got hot). The flavor and especially the presentation on both were great. The black currant scone and chocolate croissant were fresh and great too. We ended up going back twice while we were in town. We had the same barista both times and he could've been a little friendlier, but overall we had a great experience.

Yelp
Back again with another review, because the more I visit Cedar & Spokes, the more I feel it's charm!

Yelp
Cedar & Spokes is a cute, aesthetic cafe in the heart of Belltown serving up some damn good coffee. Oh did I mention also cocktails? Yeah it's also a bar! You can even book out the space for an event. I love the open, minimal layout with floor to ceiling windows that provide a lot of natural light. Perfect spot to relax with a book or catch up on some work. The latte art here is on point! I got the mocha which wasn't too sweet and my friend got the lavender latte! Highly recommend checking this spot out if you're in Belltown and need a spot to relax for a bit. Yelp
In my opinion, Cedar & Spokes is one of Pike Place Market area's most underrated coffee shops and one of my favorite places to stop by when I'm around the market. Cedar and Spokes is a short walk from the business of Pike Place Market, across the street from Cost Plus World Market. The cafe has a great selection of espresso coffee drinks, seasonal drinks, and if you're feeling extra fancy, a variety of wines. I can't talk about Cedar and Spokes without talking about their amazing ambiance! You get water views of the sound in their chill, light and bright space. It's a great place to sit and relax, break out the laptop to do work, or even hold events. There's even a small in the room in the back for parents and kids! Give Cedar & Spokes a visit!

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place while meeting up with my mom and extended family in Seattle. With it being literally just a block from the pike place market it was very cute and the barista was so sweet. My family had already ordered their coffee so I just ordered myself a chai latte with oat milk and was able to order my son chocolate milk( they have the good glass bottle milk here) and ordered my daughter just some steamed milk because she needs her milk warm. My son loved his chocolate milk and the steamed milk was the perfect temperature so the kiddos were happy. My chai latte was delicious and probably one of the best I've ever had- the chai flavor came through and it was so creamy with just the right amount of sweetness. Service was amazing, the drinks were perfect, there was no line and bathrooms were super clean. A great local coffee shop find in Seattle.

Yelp
Crispy coffee! It's like going up a cliff and the drop off is sharp. No lingering burnt taste so it keeps you coming back for more crispy sips :)

Yelp
I love this cafe. The views are gorgeous, and the espresso is delicious. Everything was clean and straightforward but not sterile. I loved the decor; everything in its proper place makes for an easy, spacious place to enjoy great coffee and get some work done. You can tell a lot of planning went into the layout, and many decisions were made to achieve this elegant experience. Cedar & Spokes was the first cafe in Seattle that wowed me. We only stayed a week but visited here twice, which was great both times.

Yelp
Absolutely great espresso, a very good cortado, and my friend had a cappuccino that she enjoyed thoroughly. This cafe has plenty of seating and high ceilings so that people can stay safe during COVID. They also check vaccine status for people eating/drinking inside. The espresso was fruity and vibrant--more citrusy or stone fruit notes than berry notes. It had less is the traditional chocolaty notes, so if more acidic espresso is not your thing, this may not be for you. The cortado had similar underlying notes, but the milk added some caramel sweetness. In addition to the coffees, we shared an avocado toast with goat cheese, cherry tomato, and cream cheese. I wasn't sure how the cream cheese would taste, but it was excellent. Their other food options looked good, but this is definitely a coffee first establishment. Last note: they have a great view of the sound and the Olympic range from most of their tables.

Yelp
This was a long time bookmark after seeing their future location near Pike Place Market. I finally had an opportunity to stop by on 10/15/21. A very angular site, bright with natural light, ample seating and lovely views of the sound. I can see this being a pleasant destination away from the bustling market crowds. Perfect for conversation, quiet time, or a business meetup. Barista at the time was all business and very focused on her work. Not standoffish, just not overly welcoming. Decent mocha though to go. Unfortunately, I ended up getting a parking ticket across the street. So this mocha became a very expensive indulgence, despite me challenging the infraction.

Yelp
Super cute cafe! Parking was a bit difficult so plan accordingly as well as the entrance was somewhat hard to locate if you've never been! When you walk in, it's very triangular inside which I absolutely love! The barista was super nice and I ordered a lavender latte! His latte art is pretty great too. I'm not a huge coffee person so I'm always surprised when I order a coffee and it's not sweet but I was also a bit disappointed that I couldn't taste the lavender at all. Overall, it's a cute spot whether you're working or on a date.

Yelp
over the last couple years, i've been on a quest to find the best, most reliable coffee shops downtown near my office, as a weekly treat. i used to go for oat milk lattes, then cortados and now i'm down to the macchiato. in my opinion, a good coffee shop will distill your tastes if their espresso is balanced, and this spot has certainly won me over. every now and then, i'll switch it up and go to anchorhead down the block, but cedar and spokes usually gets my business. they're reliable, clean, quiet and the service is usually friendly. these folks care about their coffee. their roaster is right by the southside entrance -- a little machine where they make the magic happen, then poof, the bags appear on the counter. i have yet to grab a bag for my at-home espresso set up, but i'm sure i will soon. their espresso is on the lighter side, juicy, pungent and satisfying. just the right balance of acidity for me. while their name may conjure all the annoyances of hipster aestetic, they're genuinely good at what they do, and i really love having them in the downtown where lots of shops sling really garbage espresso

Yelp
Beautiful coffee shop with lots of natural light, relatively quiet working and sitting spaces, and I especially loved seeing a separate room for nursing moms. Looks so comfortable. Menu for coffee offerings were basic so I just got an iced Americano, which turned out to be quite small and expensive (50 cents was charged for ice (hot americano was $5.50) so it was $6 for a 12 Oz drink which was mainly ice). Tasted like a lighter roast with a floral note, which was different for an americano. Loved the space and vibe tho!

Yelp
Top notch coffee spot. I had time to explore only a few coffee spots in Seattle. This was without question the best coffee place above the other popular spots in downtown. This place seemed to be the only coffee spot that is current with the 3rd wave of coffee, or "craft" coffee. Properly made pour overs and delicious espresso. They know what they're doing with roasting bad brewing.
google avatar

Joanna M.

Yelp
Coffee was so good! I love going to the local spots for a reason. The baristas usually make the coffee with a more personal touch. This coffee spot is close to the Public Market where you can find everything you need. Very convenient location. So it's perfect, because we got our coffee and then walked to the public market to get some food. It worked out perfectly!

Yelp
Nice place to work with great service and a nice atmosphere, though it was uncomfortably hot. They need to add some fans. The choices for food and drink are simple and straightforward but good. It would help if they could show more of the pastries on the counter though. I almost missed on a paper menu on the side that they had more choices than just one huge cookie. Very nice service though.

Yelp
My friend introduced me to this coffee shop & bar, and I'm surprised it wasn't more crowded for a Saturday morning. Definitely underrated IMO. It's been years since I've had a PSL, so I decided to get it here because it last minute caught my eye on their seasonal menu. My friend got a Latte and Breakfast Sammie. -- I don't remember pumpkin spice lattes being so good haha. This tasted just like pumpkin pie and I liked how prominent the flavor was, but the taste of espresso was still there and it wasn't too sweet. Also it was aesthetically pleasing to look at and they are serving it in mugs instead of disposable cups! -- The lattes are good. The espresso comes through and my friend even buys some beans here to bring home. -- The breakfast sammie was alright. Our favorite part was the buttery, thick biscuit. I want to keep this place on the down-low so it's never too crowded, but I also want this place to survive haha. It's a great place to work out of - multiple outlets and seating (high tops and tables). Also the tables are spaced out so no one is too close to you. Would recommend.

Yelp
We were looking for coffee coming off a cruise ship before we had to head to the airport, and this seemed like a good option. It's a pretty short walk, but I will warn you, not very accessible (have to go down a few steps to get in). The spot was pretty dead, so we didn't feel rushed at all. Their menu is very minimal, but they do have some of the most popular syrups to choose from. We got lavender vanilla lattes - they were okay. Definitely not the best lattes we had, the espresso was maybe a little burnt, but not bad. We did pay premium prices for the coffee though, and I'm not sure it was worth it (extra for the lavender and vanilla). Could have probably gotten a better latte somewhere else. The atmosphere is very clean and sleek, with pretty plants all around. It is a nice spot to relax for a little, and was perfect for what we needed. If we lived in the area, we probably would come back, but it wasn't bad.

Yelp
Loved the aesthetic of this coffee shop and the barista was really nice too. Ordered a small honey soy latte and a small soy Chai tea latte, but the barista said he had just run out of Chai for the customer before us. I didn't have a back-up plan and being put on the spot is out of my comfort zone, and the barista must've seen the dread on my face, that he quickly backtracked and said he did have enough Chai for a small. Whew, what a relief off my shoulders. Unfortunately, both drinks were terrible. My Chai tea latte tasted like hot milk, and while I wanted to excuse it because it was the last scoop of Chai in the jar, my bf also said his honey latte tasted like hot milk. We both ended up tossing our drinks.

Divya S.

Yelp
Appreciate the beautifully airy, modern and minimalist vibes but my matcha latte was disappointingly watered down and tasteless... I might give this place another shot since they have rave reviews but definitely not getting the matcha again.

Yelp
Bright, spacious bar & coffee lounge. Has amazing lighting perfect for working or reading a book. Delicious alcoholic drinks with a good view.

Karly G.

Yelp
I'm not a coffee girl but I had one of the best chai lattes of my life! Space was large and spacious, cute kids area as well
google avatar

Yelp
8:30 Am not open Yelp is wrong on the time or store is closed So many closed stores in Seattle with furniture in them Call first before walking 1/2 mile to get a coffee
google avatar

Arni M.

Yelp
I have always loved this place. Jonathan makes the best cappuccino! He has the most perfect the milk texture in the cappuccino.

Allie H.

Yelp
Delicious coffee and matcha. Service is fast and there is lots of seating! Dog friendly!
google avatar

Alex N.

Yelp
Found a great coffee/café shop near my work. The place is larger than it seems from the outside and it's very clean and modern. The menu is simple and easy to read and it's full of tasty drinks, they also have delicious looking pastries/bakeries as well. The Matcha latte I ordered was great as the Matcha flavor wasn't it too strong a.k.a. it wasn't too bitter and the milk was not too sweet, it was perfect! I will definitely come back to try their other drinks.
google avatar

Richard M.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and the barista had just Brent "tweaking" the shots: one of the best pulls I have had in a long time. Fruity with caramel notes and at the right temp to allow for so many flavor notes. Must try.
google avatar

Anna D.

Yelp
Without a doubt my new favorite spot. Their pour over was spot on (I got the Guatemala, but they had other options available too). The barista was super friendly and helpful, nice selection of pastries available, lots of seating open too. After we had been there about 20 minutes more people came in and were doing working on laptops. I loved all the windows and natural light that comes in. Definitely will be back, probably tomorrow in all honesty.
google avatar

Sylvia L.

Yelp
During my trip to Seattle, this place tasted the best Espresso. I've been to more than 20 coffee shops in Seattle. The service was very very friendly, and the espresso taste was good balanced. The next time I come back to Seattle, I will come back here first.
google avatar

Rachel H.

Yelp
This place is too cool! I had been wanting to try it out but the idea of a collaborative work space was foreign to me and I thought it might be like stepping into someone else's office space. But I'm so glad I decided to try it out because it was really awesome. The atmosphere is great - it's a perfect place to bring a laptop and get some work done. It's very open and bright. On top of this, I loved the coffee! I got a latte with honey & cinnamon and it was perfect.

Dylan C.

Yelp
Love this spot- always good coffee, friendly and efficient service, super cool vibe to the interior as well- well worth the visit!

Yelp
Aesthetic. Aesthetic. Aesthetic. Props to Cedar & Spokes for propping a sign up on a sidewalk 2 blocks away with an arrow pointing in its direction or else we wouldn't have stumbled upon this spot! I could tell from its logo that this would be a pretty hip spot. You're greeted with a ton of natural light, stylish furnishings, and open space once you walk in and can see that there's a choice between a coffee and wine bar. It was early afternoon on Labor Day when we went so the wine bar wasn't open yet (but definitely looked appealing). I got an oat milk matcha latte, which was yummy. They have happy hour and cocktails at their wine bar, and a small conference room opposite of the bars (this was a first for a coffee shop in my books!).
google avatar

Daman T.

Yelp
beautiful coffee shop - waterfront view - good coffee and oatmeal - spacious and ample seating - they also have a bar that serves natural wines and some cocktails
google avatar

Tyler O.

Yelp
Went on a walk to find some coffee. Stopped at this place and got their cold brew. Best cold brew i've had on tour thus far. Lots of flavor and not too bitter. Came back the next day and got another one before jumping back on the road.
google avatar

Yelp
Open for indoor seating as of 3/7/21. I counted 11 tables open. Lots of space to study, get together with a friend for coffee, read a book, etc. Quiet atmosphere just off the end of busting Pike Place Market. I got a $3 drip coffee and an $8 avocado toast. It was solid, but I think you could find better food around the area. For instance, Macrina Bakery, which was open for takeout today but not for indoor dining. Service was not fabulous. It felt sort of unfriendly in the place, but it was very clean and a nice atmosphere to watch a zoom lecture in. Plus, it was well heated! They didn't leave a window or door open like most places do these days.
google avatar

Melanie E.

Yelp
Oooh I love this place. I stumbled upon it and discovered coffee and wine! What a wonderful combination! They can have my morning coffee biz and my evening wine biz! The guys were super nice and friendly. I love the wide open space and minimal design esthetic. Could be energetic or relaxing depending on the day and crowd. Spacing between seating areas is large so it can be an intimate experience. Love it and definitely recommend it!

Yelp
I'm pretty sad to review this place with 3 stars because it was becoming my favorite place to go to for a while until now. Today I was tricked TWICE. First, the barista charged me for a tip I never consented. The counter doesn't has available (as far I am aware) the screen for you to see all the items included in your order. I have to blindly believe she was changing me accordingly. I learned about this surprise tip after paying and getting the receipt via email. SECOND, I asked for a 12 ounce iced chai latte. I was served in one of those long skinny glass of 8 ounce. I said nothing to avoid awkwardness on a beautiful Sunday day. All I wanted was to relaxed, have my drink and disappear. I want to think she forgot or got distracted with something else. Anyway, Just be aware you may be paying for tip when you were not intending to.

Tina H.

Yelp
Nice and quiet spot to grab coffee and study. The coffee was phenomenal and looking forward to visiting again soon.
google avatar

Ani M.

Yelp
Yummy lavender iced matcha and spacious setup. They even have a bar. Would come back on my Seattle visit.

James W.

Yelp
I may be in the minority but I typically like to be greeted as a patron of an establishment, not have to prompt a simple greeting(10/29 10:30AM PST). Hand gestures and direction giving with head nods are a cool way to get told your coffee is ready too, I suppose. As for the coffee, the cold brew has a distinct aftertaste. Almost a little pine tar like. The syrup used within the latte is a little on the artificial side where it seems to stick to your tongue for an unusual amount of time. The amount of milk used overpowered any remnants of coffee. I will say that the ambiance is great and is in a prime location for you to get out of the house and work/catch up with friends, however, you go to a coffee shop for coffee and SERVICE(any) ya know?
google avatar

Nicole Y.

Yelp
I came here for an event and only had their drinks, but they were AMAZING! I wish I had taken a few photos. But the one with a sprig of rosemary was amazing and so was the one that comes in a martini glass with coconut milk. Also, the guy who worked this whole event with over 50 ppl, by himself killed it. How he had such a great attitude and produced such quality service and drinks under what looked like it could have been a nightmare situation for the average person, was impressive. I live in Belltown and I didn't realize the not so delicious Tully's has closed and this lovely gem of a coffee shop with craft cocktails had opened in its place. I can't wait to come back!!! You are near my school, and I will be walking to you on brakes instead of starbucks from now on!
google avatar

Jacqueline S.

Yelp
We came on a Friday evening for a cup of coffee. The place was nearly empty (probably due to the time of day), so we for the couch and a comfy chair. The space is nice and fresh looking. I got a cold brew and my companion for an iced chai. Both were delicious! It is pricey for the coffee (but then again we're not locals so I don't know what coffee usually runs you here) but we both really enjoyed our drinks.
google avatar

Rebecca A.

Yelp
First time going to Cedar & Spokes and they did not disappoint! The barista was super nice and provided excellent service. I ordered a latte for in house. The ambience of the cafè is so cozy and welcoming. I loved the smooth jazz playing softly as well. I also ordered an iced latte to go. The Espresso is very very good. Definitely one of the best coffee places I've been to. I'll most certainly be back!

Yelp
Love this local spot. Super fresh coffee. Good iced tea menu. Cute bar for drinks. Good place to enjoy a coffee, table seating.

Yelp
I think the most important thing you need to know about Cedar & Spokes Coffee BEFORE you come here is that it is actually a coffee cart inside the co-working space, Makers. It is not a typical cafe experience. I originally searched for a dog-friendly cafe and that's how I stumbled upon Cedar & Spokes. I read all the reviews and nothing indicated that it was anything other than a normal cafe with great reviews. So that's how I ended up here. I wish I would have known that info beforehand. But it really only resulted in me walking inside super-awkwardly because I felt like I was stepping into the wrong business. Haha. Once I walked in, I asked the gal at the counter what the deal was and then saw the little coffee cart. I'm not always sure how co-working spaces work with walk-ins or confused customers. But Makers allowed us in without any fee to sit and work for a couple of hours--nice! I also had my dog with me (obviously) and so I can confirm they're hella dog-friendly. WIN! ANYWAYS--the drinks! I love chai but I rarely order it out at cafes because they're always over-sweetened for my tastes. But, I decided to give the chai here a try. Holy. MOLY. That was good chai. Don't get me wrong, it's very sweet. But I was okay with that--actually, more than okay. It was rich, creamy, spicy, and the perfect temperature to actually taste the drink and not scald your tongue. Even if I didn't do the co-working thing, I'd stop back here to pick up some more of that chai. And I'm definitely looking forward to tasting their espresso drinks.

Yelp
Went to the opening on 2 November for cocktails which is a great use of a coffee place at night. For coffee, I've visited since they started with a little coffee cart in a shared workspace. They still need to add some interesting coffee drinks. I wouldn't go often for coffee unless they started doing something interesting like Ghost Note Coffee. For cocktails - we tried the 72 lenora and the Red Western which were both good - on the mild sweet side for both.
google avatar

Carly R.

Yelp
It's NOT a coffee shop! It's a coffee stand in the coworking space - Makers place! I wish I read all the reviews before coming in here so I didn't need to feel as awkward when I'm there. They are very nice to let me seat in the space and chill for a while tho! (well I was trying to use my laptop to kill some homework but I couldn't do it after a while..Feel like I'm taking advantage of them!) However, for just the latte I had from this stand, I love it! No doubt it's a good cup of coffee! Smooth and creamy, with a slight earthy tone blend. It's cool to know a good spot to get take out coffee cause I work pretty close to pike place. Just aware that it's NOT a place to work at and chill, it's almost like a "coffee food truck" type of deal. (but I did enjoy that space and thinking about joining the Makers community... pretty neat place!) I'll going back for their pumpkin spice latte for to go before work soon! Recommended for drinks take out only. (so you won't feel weird like I did haha)

Yelp
Sharp, clean, comfortable, mellow coffee shop--Outstanding view of the water--Very enjoyable, quality pour over!!

Yelp
Beautiful space and clean bathrooms. I had a macchiato with almond milk and it was very good, not too bitter at all.
