At the beginning trail has bike station. There is emergency poles through the trail. Has been upgraded only went in .5 of a mile because of the rain. Nice clean cement trail. Pictures taken 11/24

I’m hesitant to leave a review because (1) this is probably the best kept secret in Abilene, and (2) I don’t want trashy people ruining this place, but here goes. Besides the state park trails, this waterway is a great hiking path that makes you forget you’re in the middle of a city (or in the Abilene area). There’s deer and plenty of birds (and the occasional cat). Walking from the start of the trail at S 11th to College Dr and back is a little short of 5 miles. There is only one spot where terrible people have made it their dumping ground for mattresses, trash, and old furniture. Other than that, the rest is very clean and has well kept paths to follow. At the train tracks, you’ll also be treated to 1st grade drawings done by ‘taggers’ that think they know how to use spray paint to create works of art. Private property is well marked and there are no fences. Just stay on the paths. If you’re someone that likes leaving trash everywhere you go, this isn’t the place for you. There are no trash cans on the trail. However, if you’re someone that wants to enjoy nature and get some exercise, then come here and enjoy.

I’ve been running this trail the past few years and just this past year they finally started building a pathway! Wide enough for bikes and walking both ways. They even have trash cans, bike fix/air stations and emergency towers along the path. It’s about 2.5 miles long and does not quite make it to ACU (stops at 10th St going North) but if you cut through some backroads you can get up there with another 0.5 mile added. If they connect this all the way to the ACU school loop it’ll earn 5 stars. Hoping for a more active community growth in Abilene. Well done Abilene!

This trail is fully accessible with a flat, wide sidewalk for almost 2 miles! Can't wait for the next phase to start.

This is a lovely walk along a creek. Most of the time, you're in nature on a nice concrete path. If it's recently rained, the creek is flowing. We went the day after a hard rain. The path, at places, would've been under a few feet of water the day of the heavy rain. There's people walking, running, and biking. There's also some picnic tables randomly along the path.

I highly recommend walking to the beat of your own drum, at least your own heart rate and metronome! I mean at the very least have some heart. I mean I was feeling funky hunky dory so I told a story or two to the birds over some drum beats...WORD. Definitely not a place you yell Crank Brothers to a gentleman on a bike. Easy now I was talking about that rear cassette. Got that distinct sound kinda like Pantera or pink Floyd or Randy Beastie Boys maybe...hours of operation would be nice only reason it. Didn't get a fifth star.
