Michigan Gov. Whitmer Signs Bill Allowing Expanded Brewery Tasting Rooms | Eater Detroit

"Located in Cedar Springs, this small-town destination brewery welcomed recent state legislation that lets small producers hold both on-premises and off-premise tasting-room permits and to distribute a wider range of mixed alcoholic drinks (including higher-alcohol canned cocktails). After a difficult year—when local distilleries even shifted to making hand sanitizer—the company expects the change to make it easier to expand services, offer its full product lines to guests, and support local jobs and small-business growth." - Monica Williams

So on Fridays during the summer my credit Union hands out the root beer made by this place. The root beer is one of the best I have had. So I wanted to visit this place today. Really comfortable place with friendly wait staff. I got the pulled pork sandwich and my mom got a burger. Both were very tasty along with a pretzel. The pretzel was amazing (just wished it had came out before our food) Our food was delicious. We also got our root beers and enjoyed them, and they even have free refills on the soda.

Stopped by Saturday for lunch. Friendly atmosphere. We sat at the bar. Our bar tender was Tayler. She did a fantastic job! Very attentive and great server! I ordered their taco soup and it was flavorful. My Husband ordered the Leberkase which included a sunny side up egg, butcher pork slices, picked veggies toast, toast and German mustard. It was a hit! Lots of different flavors on one plate which blended well together. For drinks, I ordered a glass of Cedar Sangria. I'm glad I did. I had to buy a four pack to take home and enjoy. My husband had a glass of Kusterer Pils and was slightly hoppy. His second was Kusterer Marzen was an excellent Oktoberfest. We will definitely be making the trip up again soon. Thanks for the great food and fun!!

Google
With the bar tenders suggestion I went with the Old Fiddlesticks a mild light beer & ate Jagerschnitzel. Both were delicious, and you won’t go away hungry.

Frank C.

Google
The place is fantastic! It's a wide open area for seating and plenty of it too. The food here was fantastic! The pretzel appetizers was enormous and the entrees are very much german. The service was quick and the staff friendly. I highly recommend the jagerschnitzel. You get a large breaded cutlet topped with a creamy and savory mushroom sauce that's enough for 2. This is the perfect place for after-work or after a long week. Plenty of beers to choose from and delicious foods to pair with it.

Google
Good food, good beer! First time visiting and will be back. Ordering is a bit different. You need to order at the counter then find a seat (if you haven’t already) we sat outside as it was a perfect day to be outside. Food came out at a reasonable pace for how busy they were on s a Saturday at lunchtime.

Cathryn K.

Google
Came for the schnitzel & was not disappointed! I had it Northern German style (fried) & it was perfect. It wasn’t swimming in grease & the mushroom cream sauce was on point! The portion was big enough for 2, but I brought the leftovers home for lunch the next day😋We also had the cheese curds which were a bit different than usual but still really good!

Google
Such a great place! Good food, drinks, and service! It is bar service, so be prepared for that but we’ve never had an issue. We lived in Germany and have been looking for a taste that resembles German beer and this is the closest we’ve come- get the original Weissbier; so good!

Ric W.

Google
First time visiting. Very "Gasthaus" vibe. Jagersnitzel was super good.. Cedar Melt was yummy.. Price was fair.. Servings well portioned. Nice lunch.. Danke.

Yelp
Biiiiig fan of the jägerschnitzel!! The chicken bacon melt wasn't my favorite, nor was the pretzel, but i order the flannel fries and brussel sprouts every time! Ordering at the counter and having the large picnic style tables makes it the perfect place for large groups!

Yelp
This was a great lunch stop on way to Saugatuck for the weekend. Everything was better than expected I had the Cedar sangria - about perfect blend!! Husband had the Salzburger Marzen - Oktoberfest- so delicious he bought a growler full to go We had a cedar burger flannel fires and cedar sauce unique flavors so scrumptious Also had the very fresh blackened salmon pita very good! The atmosphere was so pleasant not loud like most breweries - staff very friendly. Love the German aspects! I highly recommend this stop for drinks and food - we will return and I can't wait!

Yelp
Don't make it up this way often but took the kids to deer tracks junction and then made a point to grab lunch afterwords. This place is definitely worth it if you're traveling around or through. German themed but fun and light atmosphere right in the heart of downtown with lots of open seating inside and outside. Walk up ordering is fast and convenient. The menu was tough because of lots of tasty options but the surprise was our blood Mary drinks... yum! So refreshing and absolutely loved their in house mix- we get bloodys nearly everywhere we go so if I call it out , you know it's especially good. But the food didn't disappoint either! Appetizers and entrees were super tasty and delicious and we found out our boys like pretzels. Definitely would recommend you check this place out.

Yelp
Love this place! The staff are always friendly and attentive. Their beers are great and their pretzel is second to none and is an absolute must order! Tonight I went with the Munich Dunkel and fried chicken. The chicken is amazing and incredibly hot! I always forget and burn my mouth. Dinner was great and I can't wait until I am back in town again.

Yelp
Very pleased. Had a party of 6 over holiday weekend and CSBC was open with seating able to accommodate large groups. Full menu and bar for a variety of preferences. Order at the counter and the servers will bring your meal and drinks to table once seated. Comfortable atmosphere. Sandwiches are fantastic. The fish and frites arrived at our table hot and crispy. Get the CSIPA draft beer, so good! Enjoy Cedar Springs! Grab a table or bar stool early though because they are popular and do get busy.

Yelp
Enjoyed a cider & salmon wrap. Was there as part of polar roll winter bike event. Love music out back in covered patio area. Very busy - order at bar & food delivered to table.

Yelp
I just love Cedar Springs Brewing Company. We have been coming here occasionally for years. We live in Muskegon and will make the trek out from time to time. I had their drink special tonight. It was a vodka based drink and it was DELICIOUS! And it had edible glitter in it. We started with a pretzel and the apple chicken spring rolls. Both phenomenal. Loved the sweetness of the spring roll in the crunchy shell with the spiciness of the dipping sauce. Great flavor combos and textures and served piping hot. The pretzel comes with the most yummy butter and mustard. It is huge! Love the chewiness of the pretzel and it has the perfect amount of salt on it. I had the fried chicken and it came with fries and cole slaw. The fries were perfection. Crispy and salty, just how I like it. The Cole slaw was just okay to be. I am more of a Lees Famous Recipe Cole slaw kind of gal. The fried chicken came out hot and crispy. The chicken was also very juicy. I will say, the chicken could have used a little more seasoning/salt. We had very flavorful starters and the chicken needed a little salt added to it. We ordered at the bar and the woman who took our order and grabbed our drinks had a smile the entire time. Was patient and kind as well. She was quick to get our drinks for us. The other staff were working very hard (a parade was going on the entire time we were there and it was CROWDED). The inside of CSB is awesome. The main dining room like an actual Stammtisch. We sat in a side room that was a little quieter and less chaotic, but I love the art on the walls that are super old and shipped over from Europe. All in all, great experience like always. Highly recommend. Wish I had a beer this trip, but next time I will.

Yelp
Service...... not existent walk in stand in line and wait. $21.00 burger and a coke..... not worth it. Ambiance..... noisy

Yelp
The place is unique in the seating but it affords you the opportunity to chat with other folks, if you so desire. The staff were friendly and quick to help. The bar tenders were friendly and served you quickly especially as busy as they were. The atmosphere is fun and worldly. It was loud enough to drown out your private conversations but not too loud you couldn't hear people in your group. The food was really good and was worth the wait. The pub pulled pork was amazing. The meat was tender and very juicy. I would highly recommend. Definitely will be a stop again when we are in the area.

Yelp
For West Michigan the food is an excellent version of German food. The schnitzel was incredible- perfectly cooked and crispy. I would say the portion sizes are obnoxiously large and two adults could easily share one meal. Drinks were pretty standard but not overpriced. The place is hella loud so if you want to really talk to the people you came with you may want to sit in each others laps. The only thing that irked me was the "no waitstaff approach"- order and pay at a counter, wait for drinks, then a person brings your food...and they still ask for a tip on the screen. If I'm standing I'm not tipping. I would love to have a normal server and not have to stand around and wait.

Yelp
We ordered food for our Oktoberfest party. Steven was very accommodating and the food was delicious! Highly recommend!

Yelp
We decided to come here for our birthday weekend for a Sunday brunch and Irish music complements of St. Patty's Day. The menu was a special menu of Irish specials. I got the poutine, my husband got the fried perch basket, and the youngest got some chicken strips and fries. Everything was really good except my poutine. I wasn't able to eat very much of it as the salt gravy.... I mean gravy was so unbelievably salty. I mean it might have shut down my kidneys. I could've sat here and licked a block of salt and been just as well off. I mean. It was bad. I ate the egg off the top and a few of the curds with a few fries and I was done. Well it was just as well. We were there for the music and like I said, it's a special menu so chances are you won't be able to order it again for a year. Hopefully the recipe will be worked out by then. The perch basket and chicken tenders were obviously on point as my husband and kid cleaned their plates. The music for the holiday was also on point. There was no table service, I'm not sure if that's normal, but all in all I would try them again. Food freshness gains 3 stars as it was all likely prepackaged and deep fried. Quality 3 stars giving credit for the perch and chicken tenders (Poutine only would be 1 star), service 2 because it was friendly at the bar but nothing table side, cleanliness 4 stars cutting major slack as there was not an empty seat in the house, ambiance 5 stars for the loud Irish music that gave me a headache for the day (worth it), and the whole crowd that came today made it all a pretty epic time. That's 3 of 5 stars, some definite room for improvement but nothing that I wouldn't try again.

Yelp
Wonderful Bavarian brewery. Good beer tasty menu. I love the Jaeger schnitzel, fried chicken and garlic soup but everything I've had has been good. Stop in for an OG!

Tricia M.

Yelp
Ate here today and I wasn't a fan of the self-serve system they have going here. They don't have any waiters or waitresses anymore. You place your order at the bar and have to keep going back if you need anything or another drink. The food was decent.

Yelp
I've heard allll the good things about Cedar Springs Brewing Company, but, living in Jenison, have never had a reason to venture out that far. So, when I was at my mom's house the other day and she asked if I wanted to go, I couldn't pass up the opportunity! We were surprised by how busy it was on a Thursday night! We didn't have any issue finding a table, but it was poppin! There was also live music in the Biergarten- we were there to talk and catch up, so we opted to sit inside, but otherwise the live music looked fun! I got the Outdoorsmen to drink which was a pale ale, and my mom got a pomegranate lemonade. I felt like I was doing myself a disservice by not getting a German style beer, but I was in the mood for something a little more crushable. I know it probably seems like a faux pas to not get German food or a German beer while at a German themed brewery but listen.... a girl's gotta listen to her cravings, okay? I wanted something relatively light (but like... not salad-light lol) so I got a black bean wrap. I was unreasonably excited that it came sausage shaped, and I got to feel like I was still participating in the theme My mom got the Cedar melt. Also, as a side note, their chips? Absolutely delicious. I don't know what the difference was, but I was getting hints of Worcestershire sauce?? Who knows, it's a mystery, but it was delicious! We were a little surprised they didn't have table service- everything was ordered at the counter, and then if you ordered food, you took a number and they walked it out to you. It wasn't really an inconvenience, just not what we were expecting! My next mission is to go to their Grand Rapids location!

Yelp
Visited on a Saturday for their annual Winterfest ... wow very busy ... I do miss the days when they had servers at the table , the lines for drinks and food can get long , I suggest ordering drinks 2 at a time . The oyster bar is a nice touch for Winterfest only set up outside in the beer garden near the band . The oysters were high quality with several choices and they were flying out of there . Burger was good but beer cheese with kase was ice cold due to the wait . The Bloody Mary was top notch , as was the Eire Stout . Spirits are a nice addition for those non beer folks

Amy B.

Yelp
This place isn't like it used to be. The chicken dinner used to be amazing with Brussels. Now the Fries were cold, the coleslaw was warm. We also got a fish meal and the tartar sauce was expired. Not a friendly staff at all. This is my last time eating here.

Yelp
Cedar Springs brewing is amazing. The food is incredible. I love that it's different and I can have German food. What a great experience. The service is always phenomenal. The people are friendly, smiling always happy to recommend food and beers. Just an amazing building so happy to have this company in Cedar Springs.

Yelp
I have been here a lot, I love the giant pretzel and the house made sodas. The authentic german cuisine is comforting with large portions. The service is good, however you order and pay at the front instead of having servers. The place is mostly busy and a fun environment.

Tim B.

Yelp
Brats are a little small. Place was clean and everyone was smiling and helpful. Very good German beer choices.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
I have stopped in twice and both times I have been impressed by the food and beer. The service was good each time and I love the German theme. I really enjoy this brewery and the next time I head west to Grand Rapids I will make sure to stop at Cedar Springs.

Yelp
We were traveling from holland to traverse city, and found this place by chance. It' was amazing, our whole family lived all of their meals. I had the cedar melt with flannel fries, they were really good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend

Yelp
Very nice restaurant. The food was delicous and was very accommodating to the party of 14 we had. The drinks were good and the food was delicous.

Yelp
Wow!!! Food was 5 stars, drinks were 5 stars, friendly staff 5 stars! It's a cute place with a classic brewery atmosphere. It is bar service only but it was super smooth! I consider myself a bit of a German food connoisseur- this is THE BEST I have ever had!! Definitely will be our go to when in the area!

Emma M.

Yelp
Delicious German beers (I loved the Küsterer Original Weißbier) and food in a fun Bavarian hall setting!

Mary Lynn L.

Yelp
Great beer and authentic German food. The best pretzels I've had. It's worth driving an hour to get to from Holland, MI.

Yelp
I am not sure how many places in greater GR offer authentic German menus, but this is one of them. Based on the descriptions and what we saw on the plates of other diners, that grub is delicious, fresh, and all of it appeared to be deep fried! That said, we ordered regular bar food- it was lunch time when we visited & were pretty sure that robust Schnitzel etc would've put us in Thanksgiving dinner nap mode. We had to drive back to GR. However, I ordered fried chicken because I am a junkie. It's not breaded like KFC, dusted lightly with slight spices that don't overpower the chicken. Cooked perfectly, tender. The cheddar melt comes in 2 planks of soft bread and given the freshness of the thick patty I bet that beef never saw the inside of a freezer. The fires are chunky. We are shoe string fry people, but these had a good crust and smooth interiors. There's beer. Küsterer Original Weißbier is a great lunch time beer, air & fresh. My wife is not a fan of fermented beverages, but really enjoyed the Apfelwein cider as it was naturally sweet and not chemically. Orders are taken at the bar, and don't be bashful about the German items. The friendly staff understands what you mean and can offer recommendations based on what you usually like. It's not a large restaurant, but high ceilings give it some space, and the kitschy decorations give it a German grandma's house feel.

Yelp
Nice place to meet and chat ! I have only tried the cider and the pretzels so far but I will be back! Both were delicious!

Bekki O.

Yelp
Wonderful food. I had the crush burger and my husband had the energy salad. The burger was scrumptious. Perfect patties with great flavor. Perfectly grilled bun. The salad comes with several house made dressing that were very tasty. This is a cute restaurant. Family style seating. Very large establishment with a shaded beer garden. You order at the bar and they bring your food to your table. Highly recommend.

Yelp
The atmosphere here is a mix of industrial and German bar. It works, very warm and welcoming. Both the person I was with and I both ordered from the German menu and both got the Mix Grill Teller. A Pork Cutlet, a sausage, and chef's choice along with potatoes and sauerkraut. Today's chef choice was chicken wings. Both of us got potato salad instead of sauerkraut. Everything was excellent with unique spices and everything was very tender! The taste was excellent! Honestly I didn't love the potato salad, but the person I was with loved it! At $13 it was a good value. I also ordered a Bavarian Pretzel. It was good, but nothing special. Not worth $12.50, and it needs a better sauce to go with it. They make their own sodas based on German recipes and they are fantastic. The service was not there, because of staff shortages! You had to go to counter to order and whenever you needed a refill. Overall I'm giving 4 stars, but maybe 4 1/2! Would I return? Heck yes, I would. Excellent food and amazing soda!

Tim B.

Yelp
Fried chicken is juicy and crispy, Delicious. Great atmosphere, even though I'm not a fan of having to go up to the bar to order food and drinks.

Yelp
I had a chance to visit this establishment for the first time on Saturday. I have never had a schnitzel and I must say it was amazing. The portions are very generous, the servers were extremely friendly, and I understand the beer is very good. Will definitely go back without kids the next time. Still very family oriented and kid friendly.

Yelp
We visited this afternoon for a late lunch and easily got a spot outside which was perfect. My husband just raved about his picnic brats with Brussels sprouts on the side and I had to sneak some bites - they were incredible! My son got the pretzel with beer cheese which he didn't really care for- my husband and I tried it and agreed, it was not our favorite. The pretzel was amazing though, and he loved the herbed butter to dip it in. I got the pork sandwich with apple slaw and a side of warm German potato salad - very good! My root beer was delicious and my husband enjoyed both the beers he tried. We'll definitely return for dinner sometime!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! The food is amazing. It was super good. I can't describe how delicious the food is. The presentation itself was very well presented. The wait was worth it. The tables are benches so we enter acted with the family next to us and they were very friendly. The atmosphere is welcoming, friendly, and open. The decorations are woth looking at. There is German history here. I couldn't be happier waiting here. Will Absolutely be back. This was a self seat and walk up to the bar and order type of place. Which us ok with. We don't mind places that have us order at the bar.

Yelp
What a lovely surprise to find a place full of great German style beers and German food! We stopped on a whim on a long trip downstate. Thought it was just a simple brewery, not a whole lot else in the surrounding area. But once we arrived, wow! A cool modern building, right downtown, with an outdoor Biergarten in the back. All kinds of German style beers to choose from too, as well as food, like giant soft pretzels and schnitzels. Live music in the Biergarten was the icing on the cake. The flight of beers we had were good, not outstanding, but still good. Loved the giant pretzel, delicious. The Greek souvlaki (pork shish kabob) was a surprise, excellent! Would order that again in a heartbeat. The sloppy fries, not so much. They were alright, but nothing special compared to the pretzel and souvlaki. Service was excellent and vibe was welcoming with a community feel. Can't wait to go back and try more beer and the schnitzel.
google avatar

Rachel G.

Yelp
A little pricey but definitely delicious. There is no service which is ok based on what you're going for. Would be fun for a party.

Carrie L.

Yelp
We've been coming here for the last 9 years. I love the quality of food, the Biergarten, and location. We love biking from Rockford to Cedar Springs. Today, we ordered a green salad with lemon dill dressing (excellent!), garlic cream soup, Schnitzel, and Käse Spätzle. We were all very impressed that the quality didn't go downhill after the pandemic, like most restaurants. Two weeks ago, we were at Perrin Brewery, and my salad was inedible. The leaves were rotten, and it still cost over $15. Either portions are reduced or quality is comprised, which Cedar Springs did not do. Can't wait to go back!

Mark M.

Yelp
Outstanding place! Food was so good & beer was amazing. Wife loved the salmon & I had brats. Delicious!!! Also, Brussel Sprouts were so good. A must try & also check out theire tap room in Grand Rapids...

Yelp
Loved the sangria and ale Bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. We are going to try the food next time we come in.

Yelp
SERVICE: 5 FOOD QUALITY: 4 DRINK QUALITY: 5 ORDER TIME: 5 AESTHETICS: 5 NOISE LEVEL: 5 MENU SELECTION: 5 OVERALL EXPERIENCE: 4.85 My first experience was a friend telling me how amazing this place was, and being a must go. It's a little far considering it's in Cedar Springs, but definitely worth your travels if you're feeling hungry. The parking was simple, and the building is large and can't be missed. It's Bavarian roots provide a warm environment inside that is remarkably decorated with flags, colors of red and white, large wooden tables, and high ceilings. We sat at the bar and ordered from both menus. They have a Bavarian menu and a American menu. From the Bavarian side we ordered the pretzel which is definitely enough for 2-4 people. I recommend getting it with the cheese. From the American menu I ordered the grilled chicken patty melt. It was good. I downrated the sandwich because it was chopped chicken and the roll was cold but I prefer warm rolls. The roll was very soft and the seasoning on the melt was delicious. For drinks I ordered the schwarzbier which was very thick and had strong hints of chocolate. Everything was amazing. If you like dark beer then go no further because this place will be your go to. My only thoughts on the matter is I wish it was closer to Grand Rapids. The overall experience was wonderful, and would recommend this place to anyone who is willing to drive. I've never been to Austria or Germany but I can imagine that this has a very comparative feeling.

Yelp
I joined a group of my family members here at Cedar Springs Brewery and although none of us actually had any beer, we were all super pleased with our experience here. I was excited that they suggested to go here for lunch as I grew up in Fremont and Grand Rapids (I moved away 11 years ago) and hadn't been to Cedar Springs in probably 15 years. As I pulled off the interstate into Cedar Springs, I was hit with nostalgia but was also happy to see some changes since my last visit. When I arrived at the Brewery, I immediately noticed the high ceilings and all of the flags. Before I arrived, I looked at their business photos on Yelp and wasn't excited about the wooden benches at the tables but they ended up being pretty comfortable. Seven of us met for lunch on a Friday around 11:30 am and there were probably 3 other tables in there eating at the time. Our service was not great to be honest, our server wasn't very personable and seemed annoyed by any requests we made. But the delicious food definitely made up for it! Many people in our group ordered the fish-n-chips and the brussel sprouts and everyone was happy with that. I went with the Black bean wrap with a crunchy delicious black bean patty and veggies with a side of brussel sprouts as suggested by my aunt. I was suppppper happy with my meal. The black bean patty was surprisingly delicious and I loved the crispy exterior of it. The brussel sprouts were indeed awesome, just as others have mentioned. They are crispy and fried with maple syrup. Probably not the most healthy brussel sprouts but damn good. If I lived nearby, I would definitely eat here often. Plus I would try the beer too.

Yelp
Yikes! We went here because they are local, and we are new to the area. My husband and I both like German food, and this brewing company seemed to have a pretty good menu for German food. The inside was like a typical microbrewery. It was clean, and spacious. You seat yourself, and we found a booth to settle into. The menu for the "Bavarian" food, was good enough for us, if a bit limited, but we decided on a weinerschnitzel for me and my husband had the mixed grill, which had potato wedges, red cabbage, two meatballs, a slice of ham, and 1/2 of a brat. You have to self order at the bar, and then they bring you the food. You have to option to have your card charged before you eat, or after, so we did it before. After about 20 minutes, they brought out our food. My weinerschnitzel was HUGE, and covered most of the plate, however, it was drenched in some sort of oil, or butter. I mean, there was a literally pool of it in the center. The breading was soggy...VERY soggy. It came with seasoned potato wedges as well, a tiny container of cranberry sauce, and some, what I am guessing was a tiny container of herbed butter, or something. It was like spreadable butter, but grainy. My weinerschintzel was hot, but also tasteless. It seemed that they forgot to put ANY seasoning on it. It was kind of like eating soggy cardboard. The potato wedges were cool to the touch, not even a little warm. My husband's dinner wasn't any better. The two meatballs he got, tasted like a mixture of mostly bread, or bread crumbs and maybe some hamburger, and they were cold. The slice of ham, looked just like Spam to me, but he thinks it was ham. In any case, it was CLEARLY from a can. His potato wedges were also cold. I tasted the sausage he got. There was some cheese in the middle of it, that tasted exactly like what they put on nachos. The funny thing about his meal is that it was served in a cast iron mini skillet, with a towel wrapped around the handle. It was NOT HOT. Clearly just for show. He let the bar know that our food was cold. Eventually, the waitress came out, and said they would replace his food, and that the manager would come see us. After another 15 or 20 min., the waitress reappeared with a bowl with some hot potatoes in it, and two more meatballs, which were room temperature. By the time they brought out his meatballs, my food was cold. The best thing about the entire meal were the hot potato wedges, and that is a sad thing since our dinner cost +/- $33.00. The manager never came to see us, and we were sadly disappointed in the food and service. Never going back there.

Yelp
Heading home from a ski weekend looking for a lunch spot....stopped at this Brewery in Cedar Springs and was pleasantly surprised! We were greeted with the sound of bagpipes which doesn't happen everyday! The food was plentiful and reasonably priced! The vibe was definitely German and the beer locally brewed. Lots of seating inside and a Biergarten outside with heaters. If you are looking for a souvenir they have lots of branded merchandise! If you aren't a local, make sure you stop on the way!!!

Yelp
Since my last review I've had the Brussels sprouts multiple times as well as the HUGE pretzel, and both are as amazing as everyone says. Cedar Springs Brewing Company offers Bavarian style beers and German food options - a perfect combination that is unique in this area. The main hall has communal picnic table seating which gives it an Oktoberfest feel when full of people enjoying good food and drinks! There is a nice outdoor patio with heaters and a roof that can close in case of rain. I've tried multiple items on the menu and everything is great - my favorites are (of course) the Brussels sprouts and pretzel, as well as the salmon wrap, brisket sandwich, and the fried chicken! I still haven't tried any of the German dishes but I've got my eye on the weinerschnitzel! That's definitely going to be my pick next time. CSBC is a bit of a drive from Grand Rapids, but it's definitely worth it. It's a short bike ride from Rockford too!

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch during a road trip. Indoor and outdoor seatings available. A nice variety of food choices on their menu. We ordered their picnic brats, pork skewers, and pork rinds. All items were good. Brats were cheesy inside as described, pork skewers a little overcooked but tasted nice. Their pork rinds are very good. The only thing I would suggest is to put the sauce on the side for the pork rinds so it doesn't make it soggy. We were still 3 hours away from our destination and didn't have any alcoholic beverages and just glanced at the beer list. Pretty good German beer options and standard American brewpub beers available. This place surely is a nice place to hang out especially during the summer months.

Yelp
Always great food and drinks. And the service is timely. I haven't had anything I didn't like.

Yelp
This is a quiet little brewery with a German theme. The beer is very good classic German style beers, very solid and drinkable not weird or trying too hard, which happens elsewhere in our over saturated with breweries west Michigan. One thing that is confusing is the same Beers are listed differently on the paper menu from the screen menu. The pretzel is the biggest ever. The german food was very solid with soft tasty spaeztl. It's worth going out of Grand Rapids to try cedar springs out, make sure you order from the German side of the menu.

Yelp
Great German style beer. Best Hefeweizen in town. Also pretty good German food (though I'm not as much of an expert in that.) Good service even though the place was busy. Had to wait but was worth it!
