The 15 Best Patisseries in Paris for Croissants, Cakes, and Eclairs | Eater

"There are frequently lines outside the Cédric Grolet pastry shop near the Louvre, and not just because it’s in a touristy neighborhood. The sculpted fruits look like delicate miniatures of the originals, and their lovely flavors live up to that promise. The menu of breakfast items and viennoiserie are stunning complements: Think Paris-Brests, croissants, and pain au chocolat. Located in the 2nd arrondissement." - Dayna Evans

I love this pastry shop. Everything looked amazing and was of an incredibly high standard. The quality was unbelievable and everything was so fresh and juicy. I waited for about an hour in the morning, but it was worth every second. I will definitely go there again. If you're coming to Paris, this is the number one pastry shop you have to visit — it's an amazing place, and the pastries are out of this world!

The pâtisserie is truly beautiful, creative, original, and clearly made with a lot of care. Unfortunately, I left feeling disappointed. Paying 18 euros for a long ice cream seems excessive! In the end, it was just vanilla ice cream – nicely presented, yes – but the price doesn't match the quality. It's a shame, because while presentation matters, taste and value do too.

We waited about 20 minutes in the morning, and once we stepped inside, we were welcomed by the amazing smell of fresh pastries. The display was stunning – the croissants looked perfect and the tarts looked absolutely tempting. The staff was friendly and helpful throughout our visit. We ordered a croissant and a tart. After trying many croissants across Paris, I can honestly say this was the best one! It was incredibly soft with a beautiful buttery flavor. The vanilla tart was also delicious – rich, smooth, and refined. However, we were shocked when we saw the price: the tart cost €45. It was a very small tart, and while tasty, it felt too expensive for what it was. 💬 Taste: 10/10 🥐 Value for money: – Tart: 5/10 – Croissant: 9/10 Recommendation: Definitely try the croissants – they’re worth it! But I’d skip the tarts unless you’re ready to splurge.

Please go queue up earlier. I got there at 8:30 and I was #2 so I managed to make a purchase. The pastry costed me €35, it’s meant for 2 to share. This blueberry vanilla tart is delicious, not sweet at all but rather acidic in a subtle way. A good combination of cake, tart and toppings. I enjoyed it a lot. The service experience was mediocre. Not fantastic nor bad.

18 euros each. It’s best to pre-order online and pick them up at the store. I think the pastry is balanced with a good amount of sweetness and flavor. Consider how much work and effort they put into these. 18 euros is quite a bargain.

The vanilla cupcake 🧁 was heavenly. 18 euros 💶 seems expensive but you can easily share that with someone. It’s very heavy and rich and decadent. If you are a foodie, this place is worth the wait for the experience. The lineup moves fairly quickly. While you are in line you can scan a barcode and they will tell you what is available. I wanted to try the croissants 🥐 but they get sold out early so I will have to go back to try one. The attention to detail is awesome and very luxurious. The packaging and the takeout bag of the cupcake is very fancy. The cupcake itself - delicious. The icing was perfection. The cake was perfectly moist but not too moist it was just the right texture. The vanilla bean icing - wow. If you are there only for the food- might be pricey for you but if you enjoy a full experience, I think it’s worth the price .

Decided to try the afternoon tea at Cedric Grolet’s flagship “chic and acclaimed” Opera bakery. Reservations can only be made and secured with a credit card at 65 euro per head which did not include champagne. Unfortunately the hyped up pastries were a HUGE disappointment! Too sweet, not really interesting, redundant, zero freshness and balance. We did not even finish them. Beverages offered were also below expectations. I realize this is not a “traditional afternoon tea”, but since Mr. Grolet is famous for his “high concept cakes, pastries and artistry”, clearly this was not a great example and for the money spent, I expected more than cream filled mini tarts, mini cookies and there was no cake to be found! The one saving grace, the salmon sandwich was very good. Unfortunately just another over rated and overly hyped up place due to the success of Cedric Grolet and stylized social media campaigns. 😣

This was my third time at one of Cedric Grolet’s locations. The sweet was indeed something different but I can’t say that it was pleasent. You can be sure to find a unique dessert but for me it wasn’t it. This cake was mainly just sour ( it was with lemon ) but it didn’t have any dimension it taste like any other aromas intertwined. The upper part tasted very plain and had a very weird texture. It was basically just a dough with lemon juice. I also had the pistachio from them but not in this location which was plain as well. A bit disappointed every time of how simple everything tasted. At least they looked good and they were definitely worked on and also the location was pretty. The only thing I liked ( also from another location) was the cookie.
