Really cutthroat price. The bill for 2 person comes up to RM300++. I’ve already a bad feeling when we ordered the food and the lady (long black hair) trying to upsell us the Assam Fish and told us will give use small portion as we have already ordered 3 dishes.
We ordered
1. Tau Yu Bak - Meat is tender and nice but the Tau Yu Sauce is a bit on the sweet side.
2. Ju Hoo Char - So so only
3. Assam Prawns - They use big prawns (beware cos open to market price, you better ask first) and the Assam paste is just put on top, you don’t really taste the Assam inside the prawns. Really disappointing dish and expensive.
4. Assam Fish - Fish (also market price) is nice but RM80+ is an overkill despite saying give us small portion, they didn’t.
5. Pengat - Not really pengat but like bubur cha cha with pisang. (So so only)
The place is a bit old and over-deco with Nyonya things, smells of old wooden lacquer in the entire restaurant, basically from the old furnitures. Got 2 waiter walking up and down white we are eating, quite annoying and will come collect the finished dishes randomly.
Service also quite awkward and not friendly, with the chef and owner resting at the back, cos no other customer around and they don’t come ask you about your food.
Awarded Michelin but the food tasted not like one, maybe the pricing. The place is totally empty when we left the restaurant and while next door, another Nyonya Restaurant is full of people.
