Celestial Suites (Kefalonia, Greek Islands) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The Ionian island of Kefalonia is a more than worthy alternative to its counterparts on the Aegean side of the Greek mainland. And among the differences are a crop of boutique hotels whose style leans towards the sleek and modern, rather than the whitewashed and traditional. Celestial Suites is one of these. Set on a hillside just above Trapezaki Beach, it’s an adults-only (-ish) escape, limited to guests aged 15 and up — resulting in an atmosphere that’s tranquil enough to be worthy of the hotel’s heavenly name." - Tablet Hotels

We have just returned from a family trip and a first visit to Kefalonia. What a beautiful island and our holiday made even more special, staying at the Celestial Suites! The staff are outstanding, rooms beautiful, grounds and hotel are kept spotless. Food at breakfast came with a huge selection, dinner at Avra restaurant on two evenings was outstanding. |The location for us was perfect, we hired a car, so managed to visit most of the island and loved everywhere we visited, Asos, Myrtos beach, Fiskardo, Argostoli, Sami and Skala. ||We had dinner while in Asos at the Three Wise Monkeys, this was set up the hill from the main harbour area, but absolutely beautiful and food was 10/10||Denis restaurant just down the road from the Celestial suites was really good quality and for a great beach club, try Skala, Ammos beach bar restaurant. Lovely beach, nice sun loungers, ones just like the hotel, two beds and an umbrella for the day €30.00, then you can order all drinks and food and not move from the beach! ||Argostoli has some beautiful shops, and a lovely square area, with lots of nice restaurants. Try and not visit when the cruise ships are in, we found the prices cheaper in the shops on the days with no cruise ships. If you arrive around 09.30 to 10.30 you will also see the Turtles in the harbour, wonderful experience.||We would like to say a huge thank you to Diane on reception, I felt as if I had my own personal PA away with me! Diane took care of our car rental, booked a fantastic private boat trip for us, all her recommendations are worth taking note of, she really made a huge difference to our overall holiday experience, so thank you Diane :) xx||I'm a travel agent in the UK and have worked in the industry for the past 42 years. I've been extremely fortunate to visit some amazing places in the world, but I absolutely love Greece. For some strange reason and I have no idea why, but we have never been to Kefalonia. We always try and not go back to the same places, but I think it's going to be difficult not to revisit here :))

Had two fantastic weeks at the hotel and would recommend to anyone looking for total relaxation in a beautiful location. ||The pool and gardens are exceptional. The staff are really attentive professional and friendly.||The suites themselves are of the highest quality, very spacious and the terrace and plunge pool are excellent.||Food overall is good but could be improved on. ||Breakfast fantastic choice and quality, coffee option could be enhanced by offering barista service which people would pay for, sparkling wine would be nice.||Lunch is available with plenty to choose from and of very good quality.||We were half board and the food choice was varied with normally five meals to choose from, starters and deserts were buffet style . Some of the main meals that we had were disappointing but that was down to them being preprepared and reheated.||The alacarte restaurant was very good.||Within walking distance of the hotel are three very good tavernas which are worth visiting.||We definitely would stay here again.

The hotel was lovely with a comfortable room lovely balcony, nice pool area. No problem with sun beds as plenty. The only problem was the food. Breakfast was fine just what you would expect with eggs cooked to order. The same can not be said for dinner. When we arrived we were informed the a la carte restaurant was closed. The second day we were informed everything all change now buffet dinner. The food was kept hot under lights for a couple of hours. Doesn’t help fish much !! After that we ate out every night and the local taverns were great food freshly cooked and very reasonable. We ended up spending less eating out than buying the drinks in the hotel. My recommendation would be book b&b as hotel is lovely but forget the half board. The staff were really friendly as well.

Very nice new hotel with an amazing common pool areaand great facilities. The suites are spacious and feature private pools and sunbeds. The restaurant has a good selection of dishes and drinks, but the prices for those are on the higher end while the quality of the food and wine does not quite yet match the higher level local options. Drying racks for the pool towels and/or the option to easily swap them out when used for a couple of baths would be nice. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and send a warm thanks to the hotel team!

We arrived on the 15th July a short taxi from Lourdas.|At reception we checked in . We were given room 601, suite with Plunge pool. Disabled access and Bathroom,|On Returning to reception stating we had not booked this, the receptionist stating they were full, we had foreseen this, she had lied. On booking.com there were three different rooms available, at a lot less than we had paid, booking directly.|We were then reluctantly given room 201|A beautiful room with a view down their magnificent pool and Gardens and the mountain and Tuscan style countryside.|After relaxing we changed for dinner.|The friendly bar and restaurant staff seated us at a table .|After ordering drinks we were bombarded with Wasps. |The staff advised us that we could take our starters from the Buffet, she would then give us a menu for the main course|We accessed the buffet area to be confronted by more than 40 wasps either searching for there next feed or sitting in the desserts. As they were not in a chilled environment. We got our starters without getting stung. We managed to eat our starter with the constant wasps hovering. We ordered our main course , my main course arrived, the wasps seem to take a fancy to. We moved tables in and effort to eat in some peace. |Other residents were abandoning there meals and walking out||We went for dessert, a task drought with Danger. Some dishes had many wasps gouging themselves.||We consumed quickly| Refraining from a relaxing drink .|I spotted this well dressed gentleman hovering around the bar area. The Hotel Owner.|I confronted him him about this serious problem, he said it’s a big problem here, I stated we had not seen a wasp in the previous three nights stay in Lourdas . We had eaten at three lovely restaurants . I stated that many couples had walked out leaving there meals. I stated he needed to find the Nest, my wife spoke to the lady manager saying the buffet was not in a chilled environment, which after 3 hours in 28c is not healthy .|The following day we arrived at breakfast a similar situation, my wife is celiac. I had asked the hotel if it could cater for her. They said yes of course . The reality , only toast the first day , no offer of a cereal, (you can have Yogurt and Fruit) the local shop 250 meters away had a great selection | After consuming without getting Stung we went back and enjoyed our terrace and pool,|We went to the lunch area slightly less wasps my wife ordered a toasted sandwich with Gluten free bread, after much discussion it did arrive, |We saw the owner and helpers installing Fans in the Buffet area.|Dinner evening two. Wasps flying out of control, being blasted with us at 25mph fans.|The First night I had a fruit tart with a crisp pastry as the wasps were on others,|The second night they were there again, my wife said many of the desserts had returned,|I took a tart and a chocolate wasp free , on tasting the tart it had gone soft the cream base was tasting off, having spent three hours the day before, I didn’t eat it , they actually came out a third day looking very second hand,|Summary |We had booked half board , the hotel and Grounds are beautiful, the restaurant does not offer the 5star surroundings. The Staff were always apologising, not being listened to, the minimum 30 euros for a bottle of wine did not match the food .|I would stay there again take lunch with a bit more variety. And either Taxi two kilometres or have a car for a fabulous Meals and local wines at 20 euros|Kefalonia is Such a beautiful island with very friendly people. We moved on to another location after our 4 nights|A big thank you to the bar and restaurant staff who had to put on a brave face

A nice, new hotel with everything you need to relax and unwind. The staff is friendly and helpful, especially the guys at the bar. Breakfast was okay. We didn’t try the restaurant, as it was just about to open and we decided to explore other places instead. There are several nice restaurants nearby, as well as a supermarket. The nearest beach isn’t the best on the island, but it’s very quiet. The only downside was the noisy water drain in the room’s pool when it was running, though it only operated during certain parts of the day.

Gorgoeus hotel - so quiet and tranquil; if you want to switch of for a week which we have.||The staff are attentive not intrusive. The rooms are clean.||No kids and plenty of space at the 40m pool.||Breakfast lovely fresh poached eggs etc my only feedback would be please offer granola! You have the ingredients oats etc. ||Maybe offer lunch by the pool too?||Lovely host/ manager on check in and Ni|brought us ice to have iced lattes at breakfast and ever so friendly. ||Would recommend!||Tip : hire a car from airport when you land you’ll need one

Just stayed here for 4 nights whilst touring Kefalonia..hotel grounds ,rooms, pool all stunning & bar & restaurant staff are all so kind & helpful …but … on arrival we were given wrong room from what we had booked directly with the hotel they tried to give us disabled access room , so we returned to the lady on the desk who tried to fob us off stating they were fully booked ..oh dear silly her we checked online only to find on booking .com there were a choice of rooms free & they were at quite a reduced price also meaning definitely not fully booked .. reluctantly eventually they moved us to a different room as our booking . Then went down for 1st evening meal to be greeted by wasps … they were all over the buffet starter & deserts it was so bad trying to even plate up some starter put you off your meal completely but we carried on managing not to get stung as they followed all of the guests back to tables so eating was not pleasant at all this continued through main course , then on going to get deserts well that was worse wasps were sitting in the deserts getting their sugar fix so abandoned that altogether . What is also concerning the food is put out at 7.00 pm & left out until 10.00 not chilled either . This was worse 2nd evening as more wasps had hatched because hotel had not addressed the problem they only put up 2 fans to keep wasps off food , thus did not make that much difference . We did speak to management & even the hotel owner about the problems but they did not even offer us any complementary drinks or anything for our awful meal time experiences .. we had booked this 4 night stay to enjoy a chilled out few days enjoying a nice quiet hotel with good quality facilities .. we are a very well travelled couple who work hard & feel our stay was ruined by the food & meals available at this hotel the surroundings rooms pool do not match quality of food on offer when we did manage to eat something the quality was poor .. if you choose this hotel & don’t mind going out to eat go B&B & get taxi or hire car to get to some great quality restaurants approx 2/3 kilometres away ..
